in the context of the ancient kingdoms of Israel and Judah amid a time of political changes and Wars emerges a figure who would leave an invaluable Legacy in the religious and historical scene the prophet Isaiah his story is intertwined with the tumultuous events that marked the period in which he lived making him a unique character amidst chaos and uncertainty Isaiah was born in the middle of the 8th Century BC during a crucial period in the history of the people of Israel his birth is recorded in Isaiah 1:1 which says the vision of Isaiah the son
of amamos which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah jotham ahaz and Hezekiah Kings of Judah he was the son of os whose identity apart from his name is little known however the name Isaiah itself is significant as it means Yahweh is salvation or salvation of Yahweh reflecting the purpose and message he would bring to his people Isaiah lived in Jerusalem the capital of the kingdom of Judah during a period of great political instability and external threats it is likely that Isaiah began his prophetic Ministry during the reign of King Uzziah
of Judah a period of stability and relative prosperity for the kingdom it was during this time that Isaiah had his vision in the temple a moment that would Mark the official beginning of his mission as a prophet the account of this event is found in chapter six of the book of Isaiah and it offers a fascinating insight into the prophet's spiritual experience the vision occurred in the year of the death of King Uzziah a moment of transition and uncertainty for the people of Judah Isaiah relates that he was in the temple probably involved in some
kind of religious activity or worship when he had an extra orinary experience he describes how he saw the Lord sitting on a high and exalted throne with the train of his robe filling the temple Angelic beings called seraphim were around the throne crying out to one another holy holy holy is the Lord of hosts the whole earth is full of his glory faced with this Majestic and sacred Vision Isaiah was overcome by a deep sense of fear and inadequacy he recognized his own sinfulness and that of the the people around him confessing woe is me
for I am lost for I am a man of unclean lips and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips for my eyes have seen the king the Lord of hosts it is important to note that the perception of God's holiness and Glory brought with it a sharp awareness of human Frailty and the need for purification at this moment of distress and acknowledgment one of the seraphim flew to Isaiah with a burning coal which he took from the altar with tongs he touched Isaiah's lips with the coal and declared behold this has
touched your lips your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for this symbolic action represented the purification and Reconciliation of Isaiah with God empowering him for the prophetic service to which he was being called Next Isaiah heard the voice of the Lord asking whom shall I send and who will go for us and he promptly responded here I am send me this is a pivotal moment where Isaiah willingly offers himself to be God's messenger accepting the responsibility and privilege of proclaiming the Divine word to the people thus Isaiah's Vision in the temple not only
revealed the greatness and Holiness of God but also profoundly transformed the life and vocation of the Prophet it was an encounter that equipped and commissioned him for a miss that would be marked by challenges adversities and at the same time by the constant and Sovereign presence of God in his life if you're interested in this topic consider subscribing to the channel and activating the notification Bell to receive more content like this it means a lot to us without further Ado let's get to the video after the death of King Uzziah his son jotham succeeded him
in the Kingdom during that time Isaiah played a significant role as a prophet in Judah jotham reigned approximately 16 years after his father's death and his government was characterized by relative political stability and economic Prosperity partly inherited from uzziah's Reign during this period Isaiah continued proclaiming God's messages to the people of Judah emphasizing the importance of faithfulness to God and the need to avoid idolatry and social injustice he may have also advised King jotham on spiritual and political matters seeking to influence governmental decisions according to Divine principles although Judah enjoyed relative stability during jotham's Reign
there were signs of tension and imminent challenges on the horizon on the international front the powerful Assyrian Empire was growing and represented a Potential Threat to neighboring kingdoms including Judah internally social and economic problems were increasing and the people's faithfulness to God often took a back seat the story takes a dark turn after the death of jotham when ahaz his son ascended to the throne of Judah he inherited a kingdom that despite facing challenges enjoyed certain political stability and material Prosperity however ahaz would soon prove to be a weak and insecure leader whose decisions would
have disastrous consequences for Judah and this is where things start to get complicated as soon as he assumed the throne ahaz found himself confronted with imminent external threats the Northern Kingdom Israel led by King peka and Syria led by resin formed an alliance against Judah with the intention of overthrowing ahaz and installing a submissive puppet in his place this Alliance planned to install a new King in Jerusalem and replace the davidic dynasty faced with this threat ahaz was deeply Disturbed and desperately sought a solution instead of trusting in God and seeking spiritual guidance ahaz turned
to diplomacy and political alliances he sought the support of King tigth piler III of Assyria offering tributes and submitting to Assyria in exchange for protection against Israel and Syria Isaiah as a prophet had to deal with the consequences of these political decisions he confronted ahaz War ing him against relying on alliances with Pagan Nations instead of trusting in God's protection and power Isaiah sought to encourage ahaz to remain faithful to God and seek Divine guidance instead of seeking temporary and Earthly solutions to the Kingdom's problems it was during the reign of ahaz that Isaiah received
several of the visions and prophetic messages that he would record in his book in Isaiah chapters 1:5 he repeatedly prophesied side about the need for repentance and return to God by the people of Judah he denounced social injustice moral corruption and idolatry that had infiltrated the nation Isaiah warned that God's judgment was approaching because of the people's Rebellion but he also offered hope of forgiveness and restoration for those who turned to God with all their hearts in Isaiah chapters 7 to2 we find the Messianic prophecy in which Isaiah prophesied about the coming of of a
future Redeemer Messiah who would bring Salvation and restoration to God's people he announced that a virgin would conceive and give birth to a son and his name would be Emanuel which means God With Us Isaiah also spoke about the righteous and peaceful reign of the Messiah who would bring Liberation and Redemption to the people of Israel these prophecies are some of the most well-known and important in the book of Isaiah and they were fulfilled in Jesus Christ the promised Messiah despite all efforts ahaz did not heed the prophet and established an alliance with Assyria subsequently
this alliance with Assyria became a source of even greater problems for Judah tiglath Pilla III soon took advantage of ahaz his weakness and demanded complete submission to Assyria turning Judah into a vassel of the Assyrian Empire ahaz was forced to pay increasingly larger tributes to Assyria and to follow its orders further undermining his authority and Independence as the king of Judah for this reason ahaz also considered alliances with Egypt and Ethiopia as an additional measure of security against Assyria this decision was seen by God as a lack of trust in his protection and resulted in
the prophetic message that Isaiah conveyed by walking naked and Barefoot this somewhat peculiar prophecy is recorded in the Bible specifically in Isaiah 20: 2-4 and it says the following at that time the Lord spoke through Isaiah the son of Amos saying go untie the sackcloth from your waist and take off your sandals from your feet and he did so walking naked and Barefoot then the Lord said as my servant Isaiah has walked naked and Barefoot for three years as a sign and portent against Egypt and Kush so shall the king of Assyria lead away the
Egyptian captain Ives and the kushite Exiles both The Young and the old naked and Barefoot with buttocks uncovered the nakedness of Egypt In this passage God speaks directly to Isaiah and gives him an unusual instruction to convey a prophetic message to the people of Judah God commands Isaiah to untie the sackcloth from his waist and take off his sandals from his feet the sackcloth was a rough and uncomfortable garment usually worn as a sign of mour mning or repentance by stripping off these garments Isaiah was demonstrating an unusual vulnerability and exposure Isaiah obeys God and
follows his instructions to the letter walking naked and Barefoot this dramatic action grabs people's attention and serves as a powerful visual representation of the prophetic message that Isaiah is about to deliver his bold and symbolic action did not go unnoticed and many reflected on the meaning behind that VIs visual message Isaiah's nudity and barefooted served as a vivid reminder of the vulnerability of the people to external threats and the need to trust in God in times of Crisis by walking barefoot Isaiah symbolized humility and submission to the Divine will he showed that there was nothing
that could hide or protect the people of Judah except trust in God and obedience to his Commandments God then explains the symbolic meaning of this action he compares the period in which Isaiah walked naked and Barefoot 3 years with the Fate awaiting Egypt and Ethiopia just as Isaiah was a physical representation of the future nakedness and baress of the prisoners of those Nations Assyria would capture them strip them of their garments and lead them into captivity exposing them to shame while Isaiah prophesied internally Judah was in spiritual turmoil ahaz promoted Ed idolatry and worship of
foreign Gods leading the people of Judah away from the true God Isaiah the prophet confronted ahaz and warned him about the consequences of his spiritual apostasy urging him to repent and turn back to God however ahaz ignored Isaiah's warnings and continued in his Disobedience the situation in Judah only worsened over time eventually Assyria itself invaded Judah devastating the country and putting Jerusalem under Under Siege ahaz and the people of Judah suffered terribly under the Yoke of Assyria facing hunger disease and misery ultimately ahaz his Reign was a dark and turbulent period for Judah his wrong
political choices and lack of faith in God LED Judah to a state of weakness and despair however his death did not Mark the end of the problems for Judah but the beginning of an even more tumultuous period with his son Hezekiah inheriting a kingdom in Ruins and facing even greater challenges ahead as soon as he ascended the throne Hezekiah embarked on a series of religious and political reforms to purify Judah from idolatry and restore worship to the true God Isaiah supported and encouraged Hezekiah in his reform efforts serving as his spiritual adviser and prophet of
the king during this period Isaiah continued to convey God's messages to the people of Judah urging them to repentance and faithfulness he proclaimed God's word denouncing social injustice moral corruption and idolatry that still persisted in the Kingdom Isaiah also offered hope and comfort to the people reminding them of God's promises of Salvation and Redemption however it was during hezekiah's Reign that Judah faced an even greater crisis when sarib King of Assyria threatened to invade Jerusalem in historical context sarib was an Assyrian king who ruled between 705 and 681 BC during his Reign Assyria was a
dominant Regional power involved in various military campaigns in the region including incursions into the region of Judah the Assyrian army was one of the most powerful and feared military forces in the ancient world known for its discipline organization and Effectiveness concerned about the situation King Hezekiah of Judah initially attempted to seek a diplomatic solution and negotiate with king sarib of Assyria to avoid direct conflict the biblical narrative and historical inscriptions provide details about these negotiation attempts according to the Bible in the book of Kings Hezekiah sent Messengers to King sarib seeking peace agreeing to pay
tribute in exchange for for not being invaded then sarib king of Assyria marched against all the Fortified cities of Judah and captured them Hezekiah king of Judah sent this message to the king of Assyria at laish I have done wrong withdraw from me and I will pay whatever you demand of me the king of Assyria initially imposed on Hezekiah king of Judah 300 talents of silver and 30 talents of gold however Sen kib was not satisfied with the terms offered and decided to invade Judah anyway this resulted in The Siege of Jerusalem where Hezekiah found
himself with no Escape faced with the rejection of his peace attempts upon learning that sarib had sent a threatening letter to the city and to the god of Israel Hezekiah felt deeply Disturbed and distressed by the situation he received the letter went up to the temple and read it before the Lord upon reading the letter that mocked God and threatened the destruction of Jerusalem Hezekiah tore his clothes as a sign of mourning grief and despair in the face of the Assyrian threat tearing clothes was a common gesture in many ancient cultures including the Jewish as
a sign of distress mourning or repentance after this act Hezekiah sought Divine guidance and sent Messengers to the prophet Isaiah for advice and guidance on how to handle the situation the prophet Isaiah received a message from God and reassured Hezekiah Isaiah pronounced a prophecy that assured Divine protection and the defeat of the Assyrian army he conveyed a message of comfort and divine Assurance to Hezekiah do not be afraid of the words you have heard with which the Servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me I will make him turn back by the way he
came conveying a message of confidence and hope to Hezekiah and the people of Judah he assured the king that God was aware of the blasphemies uttered by sarib and of the threats against Jerusalem Isaiah prophesied that God would not allow sarib to achieve his goal of destroying the city stating that the Assyrian army would be defeated and would not succeed in conquering Jerusalem furthermore Isaiah reminded Hezekiah of God's promises to protect Judah and ensure the continuity of the davidic line he emphasized that Jerusalem would be saved because of God's love and Promises to David to
strengthen hezekiah's Faith Isaiah offered a miraculous sign as proof of the truthfulness of his words he said that as a sign the Shadow on aaz Sundial would go back 10 steps as recorded in the Bible this sign indeed occurred demonstrating the power and authority of God Isaiah's message brought comfort and hope to Hezekiah and the people of Judah in a time of great distress solidifying their trust in Divine protection then Hezekiah expressed his faith in God and pleaded with the Lord to hear his prayers and intervene on behalf of Jerusalem he appealed for God to
protect the city and demonstrate his power so that all the kingdoms of the Earth would know that the Lord was the supreme god the result of this episode is that God responded to hezekiah's Faith and prayer according to the Bible after the prayers of King Hezekiah and the comforting message of the prophet Isaiah God supernaturally intervened to protect Jerusalem this is recounted in Kings 1935 and it came to pass that night that the angel of the Lord went out and smokee in the camp of the Assyrians 104 score and 5,000 and when they arose early
in the morning behold they were all dead corpses in a single night an angel of the Lord was sent and inflicted great destruction in the camp of the Assyrian army resulting in the death of 185,000 Soldiers the action of the Angel is described as of such magnitude that the Assyrian army was completely defeated although the Bible does not provide specific details on how this Supernatural event occurred it is presented as a Divine Act of intervention to protect Jerusalem and its people the story highlights belief in Divine protection and the importance of faith in times of
great danger the people's reaction the next day was one of great surprise and shock at the destruction of the Assyrian army the people of Jerusalem and their leaders including King Hezekiah felt relieved and grateful to have been protected from such an imminent and destructive threat they recognized the power of God and divine intervention as the reason they were safe Hezekiah and Isaiah worked together to restore faith and obedience to the true God Paving the way for a future of peace and prosperity for Judah later on Manasseh hezekiah's son succeeded his father as king of Judah
and ruled for approximately 55 years unfortunately his Reign is remembered as one of the darkest in judah's history due to his severe Rebellion against God and persecu ution of the faithful manasse reversed many of the religious reforms initiated by his father Hezekiah he reintroduced idolatry and the worship of pagan gods in Judah building Pagan altars within and around Jerusalem additionally he Cru persecuted the prophets and those who remained faithful to the god of Israel shedding innocent blood and spreading spiritual corruption throughout the kingdom in this hostile environment Isaiah continued to proclaim the word of God
despite the imminent danger he denounced manasseh's apostasy and warned of the consequences of rebellion against God Isaiah faced opposition and persecution for his prophecies and his faithfulness to God but he remained steadfast in his mission to be a messenger of the Lord during manasseh's Reign Isaiah may have suffered martyrdom due to his unwavering Faith although the Bible does not provide specific details about Isaiah's death Jewish tradition claims that he was persecuted and martyred during manasseh's Reign however his legacy as a prophet and messenger of God continued to resonate through the generations inspiring faith and courage
even in times of Great Tribulation another account of Isaiah's death is found in the Ascension of Isaiah this book is an apocryphal text from the Old Testament that is not part part of the cannon of Hebrew or Christian scriptures but it is considered significant for understanding Jewish Christian literature and theology it consists of various parts including Visions prophecies and a narrative of Isaiah's Ascension to heaven the story of Isaiah's death according to this book is one of the most notable and dramatic Parts it relates that during the reign of king manasse of Judah Isaiah faced
great opposition because of his prophecies and his role as a champion ion of justice and righteousness according to the account manasse was furious with Isaiah's criticisms and warnings as he was involved in idolatrous and unjust practices in his rage manasse ordered Isaiah to be sorn in half as an extreme punishment for his words and actions Isaiah faithful to the end accepted his fate with courage and resignation he remained steadfast in his faith and continued to Proclaim God's message until the very end even in the face of a terrible and torturous death Isaiah did not waver
in his Devotion to God and his commitment to the truth regarding King Manasseh despite his Reign marked by Disobedience and sin there are indications that he had a period of repentance in the later years of his rule according to the account in the second book of Chronicles chapter 33 manasse was taken captive to Babylon after a military defeat and then he humbled himself before God he was then restored to the throne of Judah where he attempted to reform religion and promote worship of Yahweh however his repentance came too late to avoid God's judgment on Judah
the reign of manasse had lasting consequences for the kingdom of Judah leaving an indelible mark on the history of God's people his legacy is remembered as a warning about the dangers of apostasy and disobedience to God but also as a reminder of the power of repentance and God's mercy for those who sincerely turn to him despite the countless murders of Believers and Prophets Isaiah is recognized for his prophetic writings contained in the book bearing his name the book of Isaiah which is part of the Old Testament of the Bible this book consists of 66 chapters
and is one of the most extensive and influential Works among the prophets of the old Testament Isaiah recorded his visions and prophecies throughout his ministry conveying God's messages to the people of Judah during a crucial period in Israel's history his writings Encompass a variety of themes including God's sovereignty Holiness social justice repentance and the hope of redemption Isaiah also described powerful visions of the future Messianic era and the restoration of Israel his prophecies and teachings have been a source of inspiration and guidance for millions of people throughout history both within and outside the judeo-christian tradition
his messages of Justice hope and Redemption still resonate today challenging people to live according to God's principles and to repent of their sins however I believe that Isaiah's Messianic prophecies are of greatest importance to the judeo-christian faith his visions of the coming of a redeemer Messiah offered hope to the people of Israel during times of difficulty and oppression Isaiah's prophecies about the Virgin birth of Jesus his life sacrifice on the cross and eternal Reign are fundamental to the understanding of the Christian faith and have been a source of comfort and confidence for believers throughout the
