[Music] [Music] wow that was a clip from our next guest who made history as the first Brazilian actress to ever win a gold Globe Bravo and now she's nominated for best leading actress for her powerful performance in the film I'm still here please welcome Fernando Torres everybody good to see you congratulations on the nomination to be here thank you very much good to have you here congratulations it's unbelievable isn't it it is it is but I hear you weren't even the original choice for this role so how did you get it can you imagine I
think I didn't I was older than she was the first part of the movie and I think vter didn't think me of me at the beginning but I'm very close to V and then suddenly it starts to come to his mind my mother was already in the film I saw that and I did a film 30 years ago with VTA then he did centeral station and was a kind of interesting reunion let's talk about your brother because you've made history being the second Brazilian actress to get both an Oscar and a Golden Globe nomination and
your mother was actually the first some 26 years ago this is unbeliev another unbelievable Tale But that's beautiful about this film because in this film you have my character El Piva and she has five children one of them the youngest boy he it takes him five decades to write the book that this film is based on and then you have my mother and me so the film also has this kind of transmission like art could endure like justice could be done in a long time you'll see so my mother and me and Marcelo all of
this I think has another adds another symbology to this film what makes it so relatable why should people see it and why are people just relatable because it's based on a family which is a very archive thing so although it's a political movie that's what happened in Brazil people from the leftwing from the right wing from the center he started to have empathy for that for that family and started to think that the dictatorship perhaps is not a good deal because it can kill your father it can destroy your family so in a way it's
a film that helped to escape from it from this binary ideology that we're all involved nowadays because of the family I think so it's uh I think children can relate to the children mothers to my character fathers and that's the key thing about this film MH and I hear you got a chance to meet Ariana Grande at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival you know that's great about this campaign because in the beginning we're all strangers to each other and then suddenly we start to to bump with each other in the events and then we
are close and I had just watched Wick I was all with Arana I never thought she was so funny she she's such a great comedian and I was so happy to toss with her you and all of them MC medson what an intelligent woman and is that how you do the toss toss I don't have any hair but you go like that you go fine and just all right what more time for for Torres watch us get DeMarco wig give me a wig so I can do it thank you and the best of luck to
you as well you very much by the way I'm still here is currently in theaters and don't forget to tune in to the 97th annual Academy Awards and March 2nd right here on ABC again we wish you the best thank you very much
