Come Holy Spirit, come through the powerful intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, your beloved wife. Gospel according to Saint John, chapter 15, verse 26 to chapter 16, verse 4. At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: "When the defender comes , whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me, and you also will testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.

" I have told you these things so that your faith will not be shaken and you will be put out of the synagogues. The hour will come when whoever kills you will think he is offering worship to God because they have not known the Father or me. I tell you these things so that you will remember that I told you this when the time comes.

The word of salvation is glory to you, Lord. Let's keep this here so that your faith will not be shaken. I remember now the prophet Simeon, the old Simeon when he sees then when he sees for the first time the baby Jesus in the temple and he says: "This child will be the cause of the rise and fall of many in Israel; he will be a sign that will be contradicted.

" And this is what we have seen throughout the centuries, not only Christ but all those who bear this name. We are also a sign of contradiction in this world. The missal contains a beautiful commentary and I want to share it with you.

It says: "The gospel considers it normal for the disciple to suffer persecution and contradiction for the love of Christ. Because of the name of Christ, the world cannot help but hate the disciples, but it is not so much them that the hatred of the world is directed at, but rather at those who, in the name of Jesus, are his person. Early Christianity appreciated the expression "being persecuted because of one's name.

" It felt deeply its own identity of destiny and life with Christ, as it also felt the duty to bear witness to the resurrected Christ. And it is precisely from this witness that persecution is born. When we proclaim that he has overcome the world, he has overcome death, he has overcome evil.

It is from this witness that persecution is born. The Christian life is then seen at the same time as a life of temptation and witness. That is why Jesus links one to the other and both to the spirit that will give strength and loyalty to the witness as well as to the persecution when the Christian resists the temptation when the Christian does not give in to temptation he is witnessing Christ and it is the Spirit of truth that accomplishes this in us it is the Holy Spirit we are a few days away from celebrating the solemnity of Pentecost we are going to start the novena of Pentecost I leave here the invitation for you let's live this together every day it is one it is perhaps the most important novena of the year the novena of Pentecost let's implore together this Holy Spirit because it is he who will give you strength for the testimony it is he who will give you this strength so that you can go to the end it is he the spirit of truth that bears witness to the Lord it is he who gives us a right understanding of all things It is precisely the Holy Spirit so that your faith is not shaken because Jesus is saying: "Yes, they did this to me, no, they will crucify me and they will also do terrible things to you, but the Spirit will strengthen yours so that your faith is not shaken so that your faith is not shaken when persecutions come, when contradictions come, when affronts come, so that your faith is not shaken.

How many people today have their faith shaken? Maybe you yourself are this person today who finds your faith shaken because you saw a husband leave home, because you discovered adultery, because your son is rebellious, because the financial situation is getting harder every day, because many times you do not see a human way out, a solution, and for so many reasons your faith is shaken because it seems that you pray and it seems that things do not change. Beg the Spirit of truth, invoke the name of the Lord, on this day, invoke the name of the Lord.

No one can say: "Proclaim Jesus is the Lord" if it is not the Holy Spirit revealing this to you , moving your heart to do so. Jesus is the Lord, he is my Lord, we invoke your name upon us, Jesus, over these difficulties that are now being presented. We renew our trust in you in the midst of all these persecutions.

I trust in you. Send your spirit upon us. Yes, come, come, Holy Spirit.

Did you notice that every day we begin our daily meditation on the word of God with a prayer to the Holy Spirit. With the invocation of the Holy Spirit, because without the Holy Spirit, we cannot move forward. Without the Holy Spirit, we cannot.
