this morning I woke up craving some controversial tread wife recipes so I thought I'd test them out and see if they're actually worth making or if it's just to get a rise out of you I was craving some cereal this morning so I'm going to be recreating Nara Smith Cinnamon Toast Crunch so first she adds in her dry ingredients Nara Smith is one of the most talked about Trad wives of Tik Tok she stands out by cooking elaborate meals from scratch while wearing glamorous and expensive designer outfits unlike typical tradwife influencers who go for the
more vintage 1950s look her content perhaps satirical has sparked a lot of debates about women's roles with some praising her for her dedication to her young family While others make her approaches over the toop unrealistic and regressive in today's society either way Nara Smith has established her cooking style and has a knack for grabbing attention I feel like Nora Smith is always sparking some kind of controversy from the name of her kid to whatever crazy thing she's cooking up and lately allegedly stealing smaller creators content she recently did a campaign with Marc Jacobs where she
baked up some designer bags conveniently and was called out by the original Creator Mary Carlin DS who also worked with Marc Jacobs last year and called out the fact that they stole two of her videos and combined it into one which is not really unusual for big creators to do that to the little guys honestly you see it on YouTube all the time she then pours out the dough onto our parchment paper to give it that marble effect I'm going to add cinnamon into the dough covers it up with another piece of of parchment paper
and then rolls it flat with the little p I'm going to try to just fold it over like P do so that when you roll it out it looks really cool and you have those swirls like cinnamon toast crunch controversy aside I always view Nara Smith's content as more of entertainment than anything that seems relatable but maybe people on Tik Tok the younger generation is a little bit more impressionable and feels otherwise ooh now that is a swirl that I'm used to seeing on the Cinnamon Toast Crunch let me just kind of flatten it out
a little bit more and to cut it into even pieces I've got this accordion roller so we want small cereal pieces right this just makes it more uniform and even and then we just sprinkle it with a dusting of regular sugar now we'll just bake it off according to her directions 350 for 10 minutes and then down to 250 for half an hour and while we wait for it to bake let's read some comments I don't get how people are mad that you're making homemade cereal giving your babies the best cuz that's what they deserve
and I'm here for it good job Mom and someone else realized that it's for entertainment it and said my favorite unrelatable account maybe one day her kids will say this growing up mom used to make cereal from scratch for us and that's so cool I think it's really cool too if this is what she really does if you have the time and the energy while looking beautiful and presentable why not here it is I've let it cool down completely and it crisped up nicely you just have to break some pieces apart it's my first time
eating homemade cereal and I have to say the pieces do look like cinnamon toast crunch that was actually really good I mean wait should I start start making my kids cereal like this too it's definitely something I wish if I had the time and if I remembered to make stuff like this I totally would cuz it tastes so much better than the Box stuff maybe Nara Smith is for real with all of these homemade scratch recipes I would say Cinnamon Toast Crunch is worth giving a try at I'm already learning so much but keep watching
because I'm going to take everything I learned from these Trad wives and at the end I'm going to try to make the ultimate Trad wife recipe now we have probably the least controversial Trad wife of them all and Maro now you might argue that she's not a Trad wife because she's been labeled so many different things ASMR to quiet luxury to just a lifestyle content creator but Google and Tik Tok would argue otherwise like I said her videos are a mix of ASMR food prep and organize your life with me but she never speaks and
so there's this air of mystery about her so what we suspect from her wedding post and what people are talking about is that she either married into money or her family is load did because that was one of the most beautiful extravagant luxurious weddings that's ever been posted on Tik Tok that's neither here nor there but there was a little bit of controversy when she launched her $120 tote bag and finally decided to Grace us with her voice hi so tomorrow my Farmers Market totes will be available some people found that to be disingenuous and
said it's another influencer cash grab so let's get get into her Trad wife style she's what I would call a modernday Trad wife where she utilizes the convenience of grocery store bought food and appliances to organize her life she doesn't make everything from scratch the way the other two Trad wives do and we'll get into the ultimate Trad wife a little bit later but the performance of domestic labor on her page is what they say impeccable she's what they would call a dream life I wish I had my life together like this the fact that
she does this consecutively amazes me on the flip side someone else said it's got to be hard having your life this together is it let's give it a try so it's the start of the week and I'm going to attempt to prep and clean my produce just like her she starts with her carrots that she buys with The Carrot Tops she definitely reminds me of someone if she lived in La would go to aroman or Farmers Market all the time okay and just watching her videos she rips off The Carrot Tops probably saves it for
compost too and then she peels each one typically I would just buy the ones in the bag and throw it into my crisper drawer and either let it die or use them very slowly I don't know much about her but I do know that she has a new baby so I wonder if she's able to keep this up I have two kids myself and let me just say I wish I could do this realistically is this more for Content cuz that's what I'm doing or is it real life she preps it into carrot size sticks
[Music] one down fresh carrots for the week now we have our beans and I can confidently say I've never bought these types of beans before so I was influenced by Emily and you can't find these at a normal store you have to go to the farmers market for them they're called runner beans so she cuts the tops off rinses them and Spins them two down and now we have kale to go she doesn't cut or chop it like normal people no no no not Emily she peels each one off the stem one by one leaf
by Leaf I personally like the stem it adds fiber but this is what she does [Music] [Music] three down one thing I did notice about her is that she doesn't really use like plastic wraps and stuff she uses press and seel and parchment paper quite a bit then we have the most perfect head of lettuce in which she wraps it in a paper towel and back into the original bag it goes herbs also get the special treatment keeps them fresh longer dry produce also gets the special treatment I'll be honest I did not know this
is how you properly store potatoes I usually just shoved it into the pantry this is not a good way to store fruits though they're going to get mushy and crush each other yeah I bake this just for this video I know she slices all of them but I kind of don't recommend it because it would then make the bread dry and if you're going to have a nice loaf like this I feel like we should just have it sliced fresh and that took me nearly an hour to prep everything that she also did in her
videos so the question I have is that is this curated for Content or is this really her life regardless I have all of this prep so let's put it away I do not have my life that organized but I am hungry let's make her famous salmon Rice Bowl so I know this went super viral on Tik Tok a while back but I've never actually tried it [Music] before I'm saving the skin it's the best part I along with 165,000 people that like this comment also would like to know the science behind the ice cube supposedly
it's supposed to steam the rice but when she pulled it out it was still intact so that is a mystery to me and if you watch her videos long enough you know her love of parchment paper and these Deli wax papers that she uses to cover her food then microwave how long she microwaves before I'm going to say maybe a minute the rice is just warmed through and again I have the Ice Cube slightly melted but still intact I would totally make that again I would add a little bit of sesame oil on top but
that was the perfect leftover meal right there I don't know why it took me so long to finally try this recipe was this tradwife recipe worth making I think so definitely would make it again it's my birthday got a present from Nate where's it from Los Angeles is it a plain ticket to Hawaii oh maybe it's a hat I can wear to Hawaii what is it animal renit now you can make cheese you're welcome I can make [Laughter] cheese had it for a long time are you guys following the ballerina Farm drama cuz that was
a reenactment of one of the latest of many controversies that has been coming out about her and her Farm Life Hannah nman is a huge social media influencer in Utah that shares her life on the farm with eight kids and she's also married to the son of the founder of Jet Blue Airways before all this she was pursuing a ballerina career at juliard but she left all that behind for a life on the farm and even though she presents herself as the traditional Homemaker wife she completely rejects the Trad wife label but what I'm going
to do today is make one of her most popular recipes mozzarella which you always see her making in almost all of her videos so we're going to start by prepping the activators I'm going to add some citric acid to one cup of cool water and then the animal renit that I actually ordered for this recipe Nate did not give it to me we're going to add 1/4 teaspoon to 1/4 cup of water so animal renet is the stomach lining of a ve or a calf can't say that I've ever used animal pour in it before
and then we're going to pour in an entire gallon of whole milk together with the citric acid so they mix and then we heat it up to 90° the milk is supposed to start curdling with the citric acid and then she uses her spoon with a paddle like this to just press it down got my thermometer I got to measure it to 90° 89 90 we're there so now we remove it from heat it's so heavy now we add the animal renit mixture and then Stir It Up and Down motion like that for 30 seconds
okay now we cover it and if all goes well in 5 minutes it should semi solidify to like a tofu or a jelly consistency and then we can cut it but while we wait for this to hopefully form let me tell you about the bigger drama behind ballerina Farm there was a recent article on the Sunday Times where they kind of did an expose on her and they question whether or not her social media image that she portrays is actually the the reality of the daytoday farm life challenges that she probably faces two thoughts behind
this right like one I feel like there's a lot of creators that romanticize their life life on the farm life in the city you always curate like the Highlight never show the struggles that's what makes them the big bucks they basically questioned whether or not she's showing the real side she has eight kids but they refuse to get child care the husband wants her to do it all by themselves and how she's constantly exhaust Ed and she left behind this whole career at juliard to become this Farm wife people are really saying how she sacrificed
all that for him and he is supposedly the son of a billion dooll company yet he makes her do all this and the kicker is that he didn't even take her on that vacation that she wanted to grease if you watch her videos with a little bit more of a Discerning Eye I think that this is their business they're treating it as a business the way that chip and Joanna treats fixer upper as their business they show you what they want to show there's no way that she's doing this whole Farm Life by herself they
even have if you watch one of these videos that she makes the grilled cheese they have their own brand of flour and if you dive deeper into their company she has a storefront they have like a meat shipping company they also have uh I think she started like a flower delivery there's no way she's doing all of that by herself there's a team there's someone else that's not her husband filming her for her YouTube videos people read into this however they want to but if you take a step back and look at the bigger picture
there's got to be help I think there is a bias in that article but there's also the business side that you have to kind of consider and look at as well whether she actually takes the time to make all of these things herself every single day I don't know I feel like they do it because they have so many cows and they want to use it up and it's fun for her okay here's the Moment of Truth okay let's see if it cuts like hers ooh that is so cool if this didn't work we would
not have mozzarella today now we heat the curds up to 110 while we gently stir it to separate the curds from the way and then once it comes up to temperature it looks like tofu oh my gosh 103 right now and I can see that the curds are really starting to separate this is where she also adds in her sea salt okay it's reached Temp and this is where she's kind of a baller most people say to strain it with a colander but literally she just reaches right in barehanded and she starts stretching oh it's
it's hot but I feel like gloves would be a good idea I'm trying to do what she does Hot Potato okay she starts forming them into balls first and I think she even continues heating it up okay here's what I'm going to do I'm going to do a hybrid of the tooth so we have a bowl of cold water here I'm going to scoop out some of the curds that way I could form it so it looks like it needs the water to be really hot in order to be pliable that's why she leaves the
whole ball in there and she just grabs a little at a time she's not just sacrificing her life she's sacrificing her hands to make cheese oh my gosh it's like adult slime I guess that's not bad for a first mozzarella cheese ball okay now we dunk it into cold water so it could set I finally got the hang of it and then third ball actually looks the best but this is what a whole gallon of milk gets you three balls of cheese wait a minute so I've been showing myself in the kitchen cooking for over
10 years does that make me a Trad wife so now let's make what all the basic Trad wives do bread and butter I've got my dough crusty baguette dough all risen and now we're just going to form them into rolls I've also never made crusty baguette before so we'll see how this goes okay make three even dough balls and then we're going to try to shape them into a baguette they kind of pinch it together like this I've been consuming a lot of tread wife hom making videos feel like I should be an expert by
now and then you push it out and roll it okay I'm going to let it proof one more time but now we are going to make some butter so making butter is super easy you basically just whip up some heavy cream poures in white it's going to come out yellow and just so it doesn't SOS around too much we'll gradually increase the speed for 15 to 20 minutes until it solidifies okay it's getting real messy ooh we got butter soft butter though remove it from the mixer and then into another clean Bowl I'm just going
to continue kneading it and washing it over an ice bath so it kind of hardens I'm trying to get it to solidify cuz it's quite warm here it's summer I'm just trying to wash it okay now I got to squeeze out all the water again they make it look so easy add some sea salt okay my bread is ready I'm just going to cut slits into them to give it that beautiful French baguette look and in my preheated oven I already have a pan in there we're going to add 1 cup of water to create
steam put our bread in and then we'll bake it up for 15 minutes and hopefully it comes out nice and even and brown and crusty wow look at the swirls leave room for our bread right here ready for some ASMR my gosh honestly ly I think the most rewarding part about being a tradwife is the end result right here making delicious food from scratch and getting end results like this I do think that we rely a lot on Modern conveniences and then often times we forget about the Bare Basics like making bread and butter like
yeah you don't need to but it's a good skill to have and does it really redefine gender roles I think these are good skills to pass on to your kids no matter what generation you are if you like this video go watch me test the internet's worst Food scams oh my God
