so as it turns out Marvel Studios didn't necessarily get rid of Kang the Conqueror in the MCU because of everything that happened with Jonathan Majors instead it sounds like they might have been planning on getting rid of Kang the entire time possibly just simply writing him out of the MCU now I know what some people are thinking well Jonathan Majors was arrested and then later on in court he was found guilty on two different accounts so Marvel Studios was going to fire him and while that might be true that didn't necessarily mean that Kang was
going to be gone in fact a lot of people were pretty upset that Marvel Studios kind of decided to go with Dr Doom and not simply recast King the Conqueror in the MCU why not just have another person another actor play the character they've done that in the MCU already they did that with roie and they did that very recently with Thunderbolt Ross who is now played by Harrison Ford after the late William Hurt passed away so what's the deal here well as turns out the firing of Jonathan Majors kind of just came at a
pretty convenient time for Marvel Studios I'm definitely not saying that they were hoping that that's what was going to happen of course they were not hoping Jonathan major was found guilty that was certainly a big complication for them however at the same time based on what they were doing based on what we'll talk about today it seemed to happen at kind of a convenient time a time where they were already thinking about getting rid of Jonathan major and his character King the Conqueror and the MC to you we just got this report yesterday from Daniel
rbk very reliable Insider who was right about a lot for Deadpool and Wolverine he's recently stated the reason they decided to drop King they referring to Marvel Studios of course the reason they decided to drop King wasn't because of Jonathan major when they were looking to recast the role they realized there wasn't much hype around the character so they went with a gimmick casting of Robert dowley Jr as Doom to get people excited for the Avengers films so right away there are a couple of things about this report that we really have to address just
to kind of clear the air a little bit one is it sounds like they were indeed going to recast Kang and this would make the most sense initially when you first think about this this does make the most sense out of everything recast the character especially if you look back and consider everything that they've set up with King the Conqueror Loki season 1 Loki season 2 Ant-Man and the WASP Quant to Mania and based off of previous reports that we've heard in the past it sounds like Marvel Studios was actually kind of thinking about getting
rid of Kang before all of this even went down with Jonathan Majors because it was revealed and I'm sure some of you will recall this by a bunch of different Outlets that when Marvel Studios went on their annual retreat they were talking about what to do about the entire future of the MCU since it really wasn't doing that well at the time and many outlets reported that when they were on that Retreat Dr Dr Doom was mentioned a lot now not Robert Downey Jr is Dr Doom but simply Dr Doom the character coming into the
MCU and now we can assume the talk was to replace King the Conqueror plus not to mention Ant-Man and the WASP Quantum Mania did not do well and it wasn't received well either by the fans because the two of those don't always go hand inand something can kind of underperform at the box office but fans could really like it however I think for the most part Ant-Man Quantum Mania is viewed as one of the lesser Marvel movies and is on the bottom list for a lot of people and if you liked it hey more power
to you no judgment I'm glad you did but from the eyes of Marvel Studios it did not do well and it sounds like Kang just wasn't a big enough well-known villain to get people incredibly excited about the future about him being the big bat that is why when everything happened with Jonathan Majors they fired him and instead of recasting the role they decided to Simply go with a different big bat and I just want to clarify I believe they would have fired Jonathan major no matter what if he was found guilty and of course he
was I would like to believe that if he was not found guilty they would have kept him on for the role and would have kind of rode his character out in some way shape or form in fact I do think there was a story in there and still could very well be a story that we might see on screen really quick where Doom comes in and basically takes the technology of King and it sounds like we could get this we could get a little wrap up of the Kang storyline because if this report is true
then that means Marvel Studios wasn't exactly against recasting King the Conqueror so that means they wouldn't necessarily be against recasting a king for maybe one scene in the MCU where Doom comes in maybe kills him kills all of the variants and basically says hey I'm the new big bad now as far as the next part Robert Downey Jr kind of being cast as a gimmick I don't think it's so much a gimmick I wouldn't necessarily call it that I would actually call it a genius move now can this be viewed as desperate sure but I
don't necessarily think that that's a bad thing what this tells me actually is that Marvel Studios is aware of how fans feel now I know there are a lot of people who have been thoroughly enjoying the MCU since phase 4 and that's fantastic but there are also a lot of people who have kind of just thought that it's been okay or mid and most certainly the hype was not nearly anywhere that it's been in a very long time so this move to increase the hype and get everybody excited about a new villain by casting Robert
Downey Jr as Dr Doom was genius because it freaking worked whether you were super excited about this or whether you hated it you were talking about it even people who were in The Middle on it were still talking about it because they were saying I'm in the middle I don't know how it's going to go but I'm curious to see where it's going to go so I wouldn't really call it a gimmick I would call it a really good strategy especially with the Rouser Brothers returning and the rumor has it I don't know if this
is confirmed so I'll just call it a rumor the rumor was Robert Downey Jr agreed to return if the rooster Brothers returned as well so Robert Downey Jr who is possibly and arguably the most iconic MCU character that we've had of course you can make Arguments for other characters like Captain America and the Scarlet witchs but one of them returning as possibly and arguably one of the biggest I can't just call him a villain but biggest characters in all time in Marvel Comics Dr Doom that did its job it definitely increased the hype because Marvel
Studios went from kind of a lull to everybody looking at Marvel Studios wondering what the heck are you doing how is this going to work they don't know we don't know but we're excited to find out so it really was kind of an unfortunate case for Jonathan Majors because it sounds like even if he wasn't found guilty on those accounts his character might have been gone now unfortunately he was found guilty and his career took a huge hit and that obviously wouldn't have been the case if he was found innocent but he's already coming back
with an indie film so hopefully he gets back on his feet it sounds like Marvel Studios was basically done with King by the time all of this happened so in a weird way it kind of didn't really matter what was going to be the outcome of the trial for Jonathan major because Marvel Studios had already basically made up their mind that it wasn't working with Kang they were already looking at other options to bring in another big bad and what's really interesting is that Kang wasn't even originally supposed to be the big bat of the
MCU when they saw footage of Loki they thought Major's performance was so powerful that it made sense to make Kang the big bad villain and that's what they did I think they soon found though that there really wasn't much knowledge about Kang from the fandom which led to not so much excitement especially for the Casual Marvel fans the people who go and they see the movies and don't read any comics and don't follow stuff online Kang is a villain that's really never been out there yes he's appeared in some animated projects but if you're not
on YouTube like us or reading articles or reading the comics you probably don't really have any idea who King is but I think a lot of people know who Dr Doom is and they've already done movies with Dr Doom as well and to be honest he is a lot bigger than King even in the comics I mean Dr Doom is pretty much as big as it gets he's a villain he's a hero he's an anti-hero anti-villain he's kind of everything he's a very complicated character which is another reason why he is so great so it's
no surprise why Marvel Studios decided to go with Dr Doom as the character but then you throw in Robert Downey junr who started the MCU as Iron Man who ended the infinity Saga sacrificed ing himself to save everybody returning to play a villain and going up against a lot of the people that he helped save well that turns heads that gets people talking that gets people cheering and honestly it was a pretty good move by Marvel Studios but unfortunately that means no more King even without Jonathan major they could have recast him and sounds like
that was an option but they decided no and that is the truth about why we are not getting another king in the MCU but we have moved on to Dr Doom so it is what it is let me know how you feel about this in the comments down below please don't forget to like this video And subscribe to the channel so you never miss out on the latest MCU news you can find us on Apple podcast Spotify Instagram Twitter and Facebook and as always thank you all so much for watching woof woof
