The Blessing of Obed-Edom//Bishop W. Ellis//BCM

praise god you may be seated i we just greet you all in the precious name of our lord jesus christ um i wouldn't hide it after the conference i am a little weary in the flesh but i give god thanks let me thank you all those who were supporting the conference and we really saw a great move of god for which i'm very very grateful amen i [Music] have my usual time with the lord bear i rest lester what to speak about and the lord he gave me a word last week i was trying to

work ahead of my time and um before going into the scripture the bible says we should preach the word of god we must be in season and we must be out of season but it means the word of the lord must be preached so sometimes it's sounds good and sometimes it may not sound so good but it's the word of the lord so you will be the judge if this is going to be in season or out of season to that end i'd like you to turn to ii samuel chapter six second samuel chapter 6

verse 5 through to 12. ii samuel chapter 6 verse 5 through to 12. let's stand briefly for the reading of the word thank you and david and all the house of israel played before the lord and all manner of instruments made of fur wood even on harps and in sultries and on timbrels and on cornets and on symbols when they came to naycon's threshing floor uzza put forth his hand to the ark of god and took hold of it for the oxen shook it and the anger of the lord was kindled against us and god

smote him there for his error and there he died by the ark of god and david was displeased because the lord had made a breach upon us and he called the name of the place perez user to this day and david was afraid of the lord that day and said how shall the ark of god come to me so david would not move the ark of the lord unto him into the city of david but david carried it aside into the house of oberdeedum the kittite and the ark of the lord continued in the house

of ebedim the githite three months and the lord blessed obedient and all his household and it was told king david saying the lord hath blessed the house of obedient and all that pertaineth unto him because of the ark of god so david went and brought up the ark of god from the house of the obadim into the city of david with gladness let us pray father in the name of jesus christ we stand in your presence knowing full well the power of your lordship over our lives and the strength of your beauty and your holiness

so father i ask that you speak to the church give direction that the hand of god will be upon us mightily in jesus name amen god bless you may be seated i i want to speak and my message is entitled the blessing of obedience the the blessing of obadidhim before i can really get into the scripture in terms of the the scriptural references which is of note i read the story but the key verse is verse 11 and the ark of the lord continued in the house of obedient the git three months and the lord

blessed obedient and all his house so my subject to the church is the blessing of obedience first of all brethren there are times when we read the scriptures and if god doesn't give us understanding we might get a wrong understanding of god as to why god does the thing that he does and why does god act in the way that he does and the ark of god first of all to give you the background the ark of god is literally the presence of god on the earth where the god the holy god the creator god

gave instructions to moses and from those instructions god promised to dwell [Music] above the mercy seat between the two cherubims of glory and god's dwelling place was in a cloud and the cloud we referred to as the shekinah glory of god and that's where god dwelt and he got to a stage that god was no longer there now weary as ordained is named to dwell that's his dwelling place but something happened in the tabernacle that caused even the ark of the covenant to be taken now i hasten to had you cannot steal the presence of

god it's not possible but there are some things god allowed god allowed some things to happen to teach man a lesson and you might say well pastor what is the purpose of this message the purpose of this message is to maintain your sanctification at a high level so that the blessing of obedience can be upon you and not only upon you upon all everything that pertains to you we were just listening to a little testimony where she spoke of her daughter and i tell you now that if god bless you as an individual in the

old testament god was not only interested in blessing a person he also blessed their seed their offspring so your blessing whoever you are should come to your offspring your children so now what actually happened was that there was a time when the high priest whose name was eli you read in first samuel chapters i believe four and five about the condition of the church or the tabernacle or the sanctuary where they operated and when you look at the old testament i always say the old testament is a reflection of type and shadows of the reality

so the tabernacle in the old testament is an expression of how god will deal with us through the true tabernacle the one who was table knuckled amongst us in the person of jesus christ the tabernacle also speaks of the body of christ of which the church is the body of christ so how you and i live have a bearing on each other i remember years ago when i studied biology and you know we talked about the various systems of which one of them all of us understand very well the nervous system if you've ever felt

pain you know you have a nervous system and who's ever had a serious toothache apart from me dear god i had a toothache so bad once i think nicola at the time she was a baby the toothache was so bad i said to jesus no it wasn't too thick it was i had another condition they call it uti urinary tract infection i think my body was just run down i was working hard but nicola was a baby at the time and i remember the pain was so bad when it was so bad my whole body

would just shake and vibrate and this thing was it was it was trying to kill me and then i got to the stage the pain was so much i prayed and you might laugh until you feel that pain don't laugh i said jesus take me but remember my child and remember my wife look after them because i cannot take anymore and i was serious but i didn't really mean it but i meant it i just wanted the pain to go away another time i had a toothache i've never asked my children to phone the ambulance

and i remember um i called georgina and i said please phone the ambulance she goes what's wrong that as i phoned the ambulance this tooth is gonna kill me and she did and i'm so happy to hear that something's going to happen she came and her face was so sad i said what's wrong she says ambulance said they can't deal with dental emergencies do you know god did a miracle it was so bad my body was just shaking the problem was this side but i felt pain over this side now what it's telling me is

that the intricacies of the nervous system one little part can affect the entire body and the good story was that i asked god to help me to sleep and he made me sleep till morning and i shut off and got some extremely strong painkillers the whole point in this is that we understand our body it's got a nervous system where everything in the body is connected and you only know that until pain arise and pain is never something good pain tells you something is wrong as we go to the doctor he actually where is the

pain what kind of pain is it how long does it last etc i'm grateful i don't have pain so i don't have to be interrogated but the old understanding is this the body is connected and we understand that with our body and the slightest thing go wrong with us it affects the entire body you get a headache you might look good you could be so smartly dressed you look the actual part you're well presented but you have a headache it affects the whole body if your toe hurts god forbid you should have a corn or

anything those things because it even affects the way you walk and the entire body is affected so now when it comes to church and when it comes to the body of christ the same principles are so and what actually happened was that the the priesthood had a specific role and i'm now going back to the old testament understanding of the priesthood the aaronic priesthood they had a specific job and they were mediators of worship when you bought your sacrifices and offerings to the temple of god it was the priest that would handle your sacrifice or

your offering and sadly there was a priest called eli and eli was not sensitive to the things of god and eli had sons that there were that they were really evil and when eli's sons um mismanaged the operations in the temple and you know eli never dealt with his sons properly and as a result of that he they profaned the sacrifices and the offerings on top of that eli's sons were unclean and did things which were horrible in the sight of god their sins at the tabernacle was so great so god decided that he needed

to deal with the sin now the real issue why i'm talking this way is that we cannot afford to have sin in the church in all of its manifestation whether it be big sin little sin medium-sized sin sin cannot be in the church and i'll explain why you might say to the pastor you say no one can commit a sin listen the bible says if you sin we have an advocate with the father jesus christ the righteous the bible says if we confess our sins he is faithful and he's just to forgive us of our

sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness so god has made provision that the church must remain holy let me tell you how bad bad can get i remember many years ago when i was working with pastor patterson pastor patterson and i was doing a deliverance and we didn't an understanding the rank of the spirit that we were dealing with and the spirit told us if we don't leave that person alone he says i cannot just come out he said i must have a house this was a general conference in swanic he says i must

have a house and if i if you cast me out and it was serious he says you have power to do it but if you cast me out i tell you where i'm going and it told me the name of the individual where it was going to go and this is not about deliverance i'm trying to give you insight into the spirit realm and the need for purity in the church from the least to the greatest and from the greatest to the least and i remember when he told me the name of the person i

said stop stop because i knew who the person was and that the person whose name was called took a liking to somebody related to me a young man you'll never know who it is so if you think i might slip with my tongue you make a sad mistake and the person came to me at the conference the same conference and says can i talk to your pastor i wasn't pastors minister i said okay he says i really like this person she was married thank you very much i really like this person what do you think

i rebuked her so my point is this when the devil wanted access into the church he found somebody whose heart wasn't right and verbally told me that's where i'm gonna go if you cast me out and as a result we left the person because i know the consequences would have been devastating now that tells me the need for purity of living so now can you imagine god who rules the heavens and the earth called somehow for the purpose of worship decide to sit between two cherubims in a little cloud that's god but because of those

who had responsibility in the tabernacle and their sins came up to the very throne of god god says no i've got to move so a prophet came to eli and says because of the defilement of the temple your priesthood will come to an end your sons and all of your generations will come to an end and there was war and the philistines came the philistines our enemy it's like there's war and the devil comes to visit you and the philistines captured the ark dear god you can't capture god but god allowed it there are some

things god allow with us and he says well if i'm a child of god how can that happen god allows things to teach us lessons so when the ark was captured and you might say well what's this got to do with obedience just bear with me just bear with me when the ark was captured it went to the house of the philistines can you believe it and then the philistines because they knew that when the ark of god came in the camp of israel israel shouted now can you imagine do you know who brought the

ark into the presence of the army of israel it wasn't eli it was his sons the uncertain the unsanctified ones bought the ark so war broke out and now many thousands of he israelites died hofny and phineas also died and then they brought news to eli when eli heard that the ark of god was taken by the philistines this the bible says he was a heavy man and he fell backwards and broke his neck and died now that's the ugly side because you see before god does something major something has to happen and what happened

in the church not the church per se but in the tabernacle is that there was gross sins and it was never corrected so now david was anointed king and david knew god and what i'm going to say might surprise you the fact that we know god all of us do you know what god expects of us if you know him is not for you to speak in tongues not for you to prophesy but for you to walk in obedience to his word if you truly know god jesus made a statement he says why call me

lord lord and don't do what i say so now if we say we know god we've got to listen walk according to his word let me speak very plainly to the church don't follow individuals because they're so gifted that's not the quality of the christian it's not their giftedness that is their quality their quality is their godly character the manifestation of the nine fruit of the spirit that's true christ likeness so david decided that they must bring up the ark now david was a good man but something david was misguided so look at the preparation

david decided and for those who are attending bible study i'll be dealing with the tabernacle of david and you'll get an understanding of what david was going to do david already had in his heart to prepare a place for god so he built a tabernacle and that's where the ark of god was going to be taken the rest of the tabernacle without the very presence of god was somewhere else okay so take note david decide now i've got to bring up the ark of god his preparation was grand but brethren i want to say to

us as a church don't be ignorant of the word there are severe consequences to our ignorance you might mean well but you may not do well here is an example of someone that meant well i don't really want to focus so much on when the lord smote us that's not where i'm going but look at david he meant well and this could be any one of us now the bible says here in verse 5 and david and all the house of israel played before the lord and all manner of instruments made of firwood even on

harps and sultries and on timbrels and on cornets and on symbols now what is that describing that's describing davidic worship david wanted the presence of god back and david did everything possible but david made a serious error because you see when the philistines sent the ark away from themself they sent it on a cart with two milk kinds and the philistines offered sacrifice sacrifices they get not sacrificed offerings unto the lord and so it came and it rested and then they told david the ark of the lord has been returned i'm not really interested in

how the the ark of god slew the gods of the philistines and slew many philistines many died that's not where i'm going i'm i'm dealing with something that is god is saying to the church be very careful on your detail because everything might look okay but be careful on your detail david meant well but he was lacking on detail because according to the mosaic law only the levites should carry the ark but david because he came and i can't he thought it was acceptable to let it continue on a cart and when it rocked us

put his hand and held it and he died oozer was foolish because he wasn't sanctified now the bible says and david was displeased why was david displeased because as far as david is concerned i meant well i really meant well i value the presence of god i value his anointing i value the effect of his glory but david never valued the word in that out of his ignorance he decided this is how i'm gonna transport the ark and god gave specific instructions of how his presence must be carried as a church we all have the

holy ghost most of us and because we have all all of us have the holy ghost he doesn't mean god is pleased it's how we carry the holy ghost how we live in line with the word of god and you might say pastor where you going with this because i want to show you where the presence of god is now the the point that i'm making david was displeased because the lord made a breach upon us david was at fault indirectly and david was afraid of the lord that day now could you imagine just put

it in modern terms it's sunday you woke up you prepared yourself and you come to god and you've come to worship and god struck down somebody i don't think anybody would be running to the altar they wouldn't be it happened in the early church with ananias and sapphira where they failed to sanctify god and they came lying i and before long judgment struck the early church husband died poof a little while later wife who agreed with husband came prancing into the presence i'm sure they were filled with the holy ghost but they made up their

mind to lie another one died i tell you church must have been silent and hardly anybody come the following week unless they were clean where i'm leading brethren is that i respect god i respect our sanctification i respect the holy ghost but the word of god must be respected and god has given us instructions in his word no demon should be wanting to make a breach in this church because our life isn't right and if our life isn't right you know you could have a problem in your body and until the problem becomes what is

said to be very acute you may not feel anything and the body seems all right until one day bang and they'll tell you you've got a serious problem we need to intervene and i don't want god to be saying to me son you've got a serious problem in your church and i need to intervene and do some surgery i don't want god to do that let's put let's move on a little bit and the bible says now and the ark of the lord continued and david would not remove the ark of the lord unto the

city of david but carried it into the house of oberdidum the guitar now listen to this brethren everybody was afraid of the ark david couldn't touch it the philistines got rid of it and the ark of god belonged to the children of israel and if god slayed somebody such that the king in all of his preparation and music and worship was afraid of god how in the earth are we going to begin to worship this god so david because he was so afraid the bible said but david carried aside into the house of ebedi dem

the guitar i'm sure david must be saying obadidam just look after this but we'll be unto you and we read now in verse 11 and the ark of the lord continued in the house of obedience the guilty three months for three months nobody died for three months there were no evil report for three months there was peace but wait for this and the lord blessed obedient and all his house so then please tell me what is the blessing of obadidham the blessing of obadidhim was purity of life obedient was not a priest he was just

a man who says the lord the lord can stay here but listen where the spirit of the lord goes must be clean so obedience character was one he of purity of spirit upright in heart and when god the holy god was in the house of obedience god was so pleased he says for the purity of your living for the level of sanctification i'm gonna bless your house oh buddy not only will i bless you if you got six children i will bless all six of them if you've got a business i'm gonna bless your business

whatever you'd everything that pertained unto him was blessed by the presence of almighty god so three months of blessing i don't believe it's just that he woke up but he felt good i believe the blessings was physical material people began to say since the all came to open edem's house his life has been transformed and everyone is talking about obadite they would have known what the art did to the others and i'm sure they didn't have internet then but if they did on social media you might hear little stories will be obedient because what god

did to the philistines what he did today gun what he did in ashdod struck them with hemorrhoids struck the other one with hemorrhoids he even struck them with hemorrhoids the bible says in their private parts dear god and that's who you have in your house purity of life brother it might sound a little bit witty but here is the statement the same god that sat between the two cherubims in glory in the cloud that same god chose to live in you and me so now wait for this our temple our body is the temple of

the same god our eyes is part of the temple of the same god our ears his part of the temple of the same god our tongue his part of the temple of the same god now you see the blessings of obedience purity in spirit soul and body and god says this church have called and i blessed it but you need to protect this purity of the church i don't need anybody to tell me i must live for god and after a while you don't need anyone to tell you for live for god because david meant

well but he did not do well but when david saw some evidence evidence brethren evidence is so crucial when david saw evidence that god was no longer angry david decided to come a different way and then he was able to take the ark so it says here and it was told king david the saying the lord has blessed the house of obedience and all that pertaineth unto him because of the ark of god so david went and brought up the ark from the house of obedience into the city of david with gladness listen to this

and it was so that when they that they now not the cows when they that bear the ark of the lord have got not twenty only six six paces he sacrificed oxens and flatlands now what what that means is that david now could enter into true worship because the issue is that you're now carrying god properly if you don't carry god properly your worship means nothing are you hearing me you've got to carry him properly you've got to be pure you're going to be holy i can go through the motions i can sing and i

can dance like david did only to see somebody struck down but when david returned because of the blessing upon obedience god is no more angry david says i better do some homework let me speak to the levites how did god says you should carry him he's only those that are sanctified and when the sanctified one came up and they took up the ark and they only went one two three four five six places they sacrificed blood came into it life came into it atonement came into their walk purity of life and when they saw nobody

died that's when david began to dance and he danced and he danced true worship came back because of purity of life try worship god without purity of life you are wasting your time the blessing of the house of obadite if you say how else could you rephrase rephrase that the blessing of a clean house listen you don't need to tell anyone you're living for god god knows if you're living for him and this is for everybody our young ones that are not save our children that are saved rather makes your parents you teach them right

yes and if you're out of order you have responsibility eli didn't do what he should have done why am i speaking this way do you think we could be fasting for an entire month and we have plans to foster more and please brethren i know the presence of god is with us i'm happy with that it's how to maintain it at a high level it's how to have a level of consecration that is so high i don't live consecrated life to show people i'm not a pharisee i live it for the glory of god i

can walk and live and you can walk and live in what god calls the beauty of holiness now let me tell you how it works god wants a holy church you see when we go out there and we mix with the unsaved the old save should see you as a bright shining light your behavior is exemplary your mind is pure your tongue is exemplary because out of the same tongue come blessing and cursing do you know jesus never said a bad word all his life for some 33 and a half years why jesus had the

heart of god he had the heart of god even though i'm preaching to you i have to be very careful with my words very careful and if anyone upset me have to be very careful with my words sometimes it's best not to speak why somebody myself because you might sin it's deeper than that it's the impact of sin not only upon me and i'm your leader upon the entire church if anyone in leadership sins a big door is open now god says my job is to preach the word in season and out of season as

i said whether i'm in season or out of season you assess the real issue here is the value and the power of god's presence i repeat the value and the power of his presence do you know god don't just jump on us for every little thing god gives room he gives room it gives you a little time for correction and that correction is critical now let me tell you why god wants me to speak like this and i'm going to stop the weight of responsibility upon this church is very great very great and you might

say well pastor how great is great god said deep things about this church but to maintain the blessing it takes purity do you know for israel to maintain their blessing all they have to do is walk in obedience to the commandments the statutes and all the laws of god and they maintain their blessing i don't want any more devil to tell me if i'm going to deal with them who they want to enter into and who they would like to provoke do you know why it tells me that if that's the case the church isn't

clean but i take value in a pure house and the purity of that house is seen weight first by god and next seen by spirits i won't say which country because some of you might know where i went i went somewhere in europe to preach and there was an american preacher who is married to a latino and there was a lady that came from a city which i can't tell you because you know the country and she came for deliverance and i said to it was a upc church i said to the superintendent to the

secretary i've got somebody coming for prayer can you would you first allow me to do her deliverance and they said oh pastor we would love to help you i said yes fine so i did the deliverance and the per they were just amazed they said we've never seen anything like this can you teach us at the time i said i don't mind but then this american preacher saw he said i went to bible school this is about the clean house okay i went to the bible i went to bible school they taught me had they

never taught me deliverance please can you help my wife i says before i leave i promise to help you so after the conference was over and we're having fellowship i said to the superintendent to the secretary and we were there i was there with him them and their wives remember i need to help this lady and they said sure and when um we went back to the church and those of you done deliverance with me you know how i normally start father in the name of jesus we welcome your holy spirit and then i i

did something like that and as soon as i said father in the name of jesus the demon in the latino woman manifested and the demon went to the superintendent's wife and point his finger i have no respect for you i was so shocked went to the secretary's wife even worse with grimace i have no respect for you and i thought that was the end of it i said jesus please no because i could the demon just got mad and the demon went to the superintendent i have no respect for you and i was and i

was almost trying to you know cross your fingers cross your legs please don't say anymore and the demon went up to the secretary of the nation i have no respect for you i said jesus please and the demon came up to me you i respect so i thought perhaps the demon was just boasting so the deliverance started and when the deliverance started after one hour i got tired so i said to the two national leaders please can can you just take over because the place was hot i was i just needed a water break and

this is what actually happened when they're praying praying praying the person was just like this and to my amazement one of them went and did this sat down so i thought he just needed a little break 10 minutes later he couldn't do it so i says god i need some help and for the next one and a half to two hours i fought i thought i fought until everything left and the woman broke down and she and her husband was embracing and they were crying what is the purpose of telling you that this is not

real it's about the purity of the church where god has taken us we need to be clean leaders be clean intercessors be clean musicians be clean worship team be clean ministers be very clean saints be clean not listen to me what god will do he will just send people through the doors and they're gonna come in the very presence listen to me every one of us carries presence we are carriers of his glory carriers of his presence when you open your mouth heaven hears and hell hears you and god in heaven backs you the purpose

of this message is to tell you the blessings of obedience was the purity of life that caused god to feel so comfortable he says i've just got to bless this man i just got to bless everything he does that's why part of the blessings of the covenant you're blessed in the city you're blessed in the streets you're blessed everywhere you go you might say well this message is not revelatory it doesn't have to be clear instructions purity of life will maintain the blessings of god killer behold shatter father i pray i have delivered the word

that you gave me to deliver so now father i pray for the power of the holy spirit looking at the wrong thing and the devil got hold of him the devil got hold of david so badly that david even planned to kill the woman's husband but god was merciful because of david's sin israel the entire nation was affected we can't live that way the blessings of obedience a clean house when i look up my life it must be clean i look at my house that's your family let it be clean now you're not responsible for

unsafe children if they mess up and they're adults no but you live the example because god is with the sanctified ones and we must never forget that please don't think because we can still feel the holy ghost it means god is pleased don't think because he doesn't stop us from speaking in tongues god is pleased if those were the means by which god validates us then everybody's okay the holy ghost just don't just pack up on you overnight and leave he doesn't do that but let's live clean pure you know when we want more of

god could you imagine like i've been praying god i need more of your holy spirit i need more of your anointing the first thing god would say to us as a church are you really serious how can i put more of my holiness into something which is not holy how can i give you more of my anointing upon that which fails to contain my anointing so god is wise preach the word in season and out of season father we give you praise i thank you for the church i pray a name to seed on the

behalf of the church even a solomon spoke and said if the people that are called by thy name if they commit sin and they come to this house repent and pray solomon says hear thou from heaven and forgive your sin and lord if there be anyone let us come short they may not even be present and they may not even be online but i stand in the gap for the body of christ and i intercede on their behalf let the blood of jesus wash and cleanse us our spirit soul and body that the presence of

almighty god will dwell in his temple of which we are let the glory of the lord be manifested continuously as we give you thanks and we give you praise in jesus name those who are online thank you for being with us god bless you i'll see you next week same time same channel god bless you
