you're stuck aren't you wondering why your small Channel isn't growing even though you think you're doing everything right well it is entirely possible that you're making these three critical mistakes that kill the growth of brand new YouTube channels look I do get how tough it is to put hours of work into a video only to wake up the following morning and to see that it's barely cracked 20 views but fear not because once you correct the mistakes I'm about to share with you you should start getting hundreds of views if not more and that will
begin to happen as early as your very next video and if you don't think this as possible check out this channel they avoided the three big mistakes I'm about to share and they hit 900,000 views within their first three uploads or how about this channel they dodged the same mistakes and hit 1.8 million views on their very first upload now this is going to sound a little weird but it is written out in a script here and I'm more than happy to act it out the reason these channels are getting such amazing results is because
they understand that you is a lot like a chocolate cake if you tried to recreate this cake but skip the most important steps then it's probably not going to taste that great but if you follow the recipe as designed you'll end up baking a delicious creamy chocolate cake that people can't [Music] resist this is my cake this same concept applies to your your videos you're likely just making a few simple mistakes that's causing your videos to be ignored by the YouTube algorithm so today I'm going to reveal what these mistakes are and how you can
correct them so that you can create tasty videos that explode the growth of your channel but before we do dive in let's have a quick refresher on how the YouTube algorithm works because some of you are new here aren't you and if that is the case welcome to vid IQ you see when the YouTube algorithm decides whether to show your video to more people or not it uses specific ingredients or signals to measure how much a viewer is enjoying your content now there are a bunch of different metrics YouTube users to determine this and you
need to be very careful not to treat one single number as a deciding factor for YouTube success but there is a hint at what you should be paying close attention to in the YouTube Studio you can increase a chance of YouTube suggesting your content by increasing your clickthrough rate and your video watch time now click-through rate is the percentage of people who see your title and thumbnail and decide to click on it if measures how attention grabbing your video is to your potential audience the problem with this metric in isolation is that it's very fluid
sometimes clickr rate goes down but that's a good thing because the video has performed so well YouTube is now testing it with brand new audiences now your watch time is the total amount of time people spend watching your videos so the longer people watch the higher the chance your video is being pushed out by the algorithm but again we do need to be careful with this single individual number on your channel because you might make shorter videos therefore reducing your watch time but your viewers may watch multiple videos from your channel in one session and
that is a little harder to measure so what we're ultimately looking for plain and simple is this more clicks on your videos and for those viewers who clicked to watch your entire video so if your videos are getting views and it's probably because you're making a few key mistakes that are damaging the clicks onto your videos and also the time viewers spend watching those videos and when it comes to clicks more often than not it comes down to the video idea ideas are the foundation to viral videos on YouTube they are one of the biggest
things that control how many people click on your videos and if you're getting stuck with no views it's probably because your ideas just aren't good enough but just to be clear you shouldn't feel bad about this it's completely normal to start YouTube and have zero idea how to come up with a viral idea and even when you do have some experience and YouTube wisdom not every idea is going to click with your audience instantly so in the next few minutes I'm going to help you come up with better video IDE ideas but first why is
it so important to come up with a good idea well it's because of something called your video view ceiling this essentially is a number of views a video can reach based on the popularity of its topic so if you choose a video idea but not many people are interested in watching then it's not going to get views but if you pick a topic that has proven demand your video is much more likely to perform for example let's say your channel was in the side hustle Niche if we search how to start a Drop Shipping business
you can see that this video topic is already generating millions of views but if we compare that to how to start a Pottery business it's clear this topic isn't performing anywhere near as well and after reviewing hundreds of small channels this is one of the biggest reasons why most creators aren't getting views these channels simply aren't tapping into the Right video ideas that have high demand and that people are already watching so what's the solution what actional steps can you take to find better video ideas well there's actually a simple five-step process you can follow
the the first step is to create a new YouTube research account I want you to go to YouTube create a brand new account and then only watch videos from within your Niche now the reason you're doing this is to create an ideal viewer for your channel because once this is set up the algorithm will then only recommend popular videos in your Niche on This research account this will fill the homepage with loads of viral ideas that you can use for inspiration but wait it gets even better go to Google and type in vid IQ Chrome
extension and you can download it for free now when you open the YouTube homepage on your desktop browser you'll notice these little multiplier numbers underneath each video These are indicators that tell you how well this video is performing compared to the Channel's average the higher the number the greater the outlier is and proof this video is a good idea so now not only do you have tons of video ideas but you can also pick the ones that are performing best step three is to take your research to the next level using vid iq's keyword research
tool this is an amazing resource for getting a bir ey view of a landscape of your topic here you'll discover what terminology is used around your topic and key phrases that relate to your keyword searches it's like opening up a thesaurus for your video topic unlike Years Gone by the idea of this type of research isn't to just shove these keywords into your title and video tags and expect viral video results call it more of a cultural immersion it's to embrace the language that reflects your audience's interest in the topic and when you start to
speak that language to your audience with confidence and Authority they will know they're in safe hands because the connection is being established between the Creator and the viewer and as a final party trick of the keywords research tool check out the keywords as question section this essentially turns your keywords into an FAQ board hundreds of commonly asked questions that you likely already know the answers to and can help inform and instruct your audience with both of these tools are available to start using today for free along with a bunch more YouTube growth tools here at
vid IQ all you need to do is click the link in the description and get your research underway now the next step is to start stockpiling the evidence of a good video idea you want to look for video topics that are consistently outperforming the channels average for example as you can see this is a topic that is performing across multiple channels and then the final step is to take this viral topic and re-engineer it into something even better than the inspiration going through all of these steps will create more viral ideas and you can realistically
create which gives you a new headache but a good one which which one do I pick to transform into my next video but what if you already have good ideas and they're not translating into good results on your channel well it's probably because you're making the next big mistake most creators commit which is that your title and your thumbnail don't create an information Gap or to put it another way you're not packaging your idea into something that's desirable to the audience if you don't know what an information Gap is it's basically the space between what
your audience knows and what they want to know this Gap is information creates curiosity in your title and your thumbnail by teasing a valuable piece of information and making your audience want to click and remember if you can increase the number of clicks on your videos then YouTube is going to share that content out to a wider audience it's one of the reasons why this channel I shared at the beginning of this video got nearly a million views on their second video as you can see from this title the video is promising some sort of
reveal how the short NBA player destroyed the entire NBA but it doesn't reveal how he actually did it in the title in the thumbnail and this is the type of thing that creates that information Gap the general logic even to someone like myself who has a very basic understanding of basketball is it really helps if you're tall but not for this player and that's the information Gap that can only be resolved by clicking into a video having said all of that if you're not a seasoned writer or an experienced YouTuber which many of you aren't
yet it's not easy to come up with these information gaps yourself luckily though there is a Formula that makes this process a whole lot easier that I'm going to show you now the first step of this formula is that you want to promise a valuable piece of information your audience is interested in so let's take a look at another viral example to make things more clear in this example the video is promising to summon worms from the ground now it's kind of hard to believe people are interested in learning how to do this but one
quick search and you can see this topic has produced millions of views so we now know that the audience is excited and interested in this promise which is the first first critical step the next step is to tease how the promise is going to be fulfilled in the video itself in this title it's done by saying this weird trick this teases a new and unique way to bring up worms from the ground without revealing how it's actually done this is what creates the information Gap and generates a large amount of curiosity Or the critical ingredient
that goes into this now half eaten chocolate cake and the final step is to visually exaggerate this information Gap in the f the way you do this is Again by teasing how the promise is going to be fulfilled without revealing too much in this thumbnail the rod with buzzing electricity Sparks curiosity as to what it might be without actually revealing what the tool or device really is and when you combine this with the title it makes the video extremely clickable so all of this is critical for winning the interest of your audience but this entire
process only helps you increase the clicks on your video what about increasing your watch time which is equally important if you want more Impressions more discoverability from YouTube well unsurprisingly this leads to the next big mistake that's killing the growth of small channels and that is not following a proven video structure you see the big problem most creators don't understand is just how fragile their audien's attention really is you only need to make one tiny little mistake during your video and boom your audience gets confused or bored and click away because there's always something else
to watch on YouTube for example just think about your last YouTube session how many videos did you watch but abandon Midway through because the Creator failed to keep your interest probably quite a few right and this is a problem that most small channels come up against their videos don't flow naturally and keep their attention so those viewers click away and that damages your watch time and potentially pushes a user off of YouTube completely which is a big no no so to solve this problem make sure your videos follow a proven structure from your particular Niche
or topic that way your content will be delivered in a way that keeps people's attention and maximizes your watch time here's how to find those video structures and then apply them to your videos okay so the first thing you want to do is make a list of the top five channels that are in your Niche and given the research you've previously done you should have an idea already of which channels they are then go to their most popular videos and start analyzing how they're structured and the way you do this is by breaking down the
most important parts of a video These are the hook the main body the ending of a video when studying each of these sections you're looking for repeatable patterns they are using over and over again a great example of this is Ean gadzi we take a look at some of his most popular videos you'll notice he constantly repeats videos like seven principles for teenagers to become millionaires or best five side hustles to make $500 a day his hooks are very similar and the way he structures the body of his videos is almost always the same now
he's following a common structure known as a listicle where you generally organize the content into a list and this is a popular video structure in this Niche that has proven time and time again to make people watch Until the End another great example is sunny V2 he's one of the top creators in the celebrity documentary Niche and after watching a few of his most popular videos you'll notice that he's following a structure called the chronological narrative framework this is where you start with a hook that teases a dramatic story and then tell the story starting
right from the beginning there are nine Mr Beast crew members who have either been publicly fired or have disappeared without explanation and we're going to talk about all of them beginning with Matt Turner who had one of the more controversial endings to his time working with Mr Beast Matt Turner was initially hired as an editor for Mr Beast back in 2018 yet only 5 months after getting hired Matt would upload a video to his personal Channel titled why I quit working for Mr Beast the critical thing is it doesn't matter what Niche you're in you're
going to find structures that are used over and over again by these top creators because they work your job is to Simply study these structures and then apply them to your own videos and remember this you're not trying to adopt the attitude or opinions of the Creator themselves you're researching the structure the building blocks of their videos that you will insert your voice into you don't have to agree with what the creator has to say but you can appreciate the formula they use to deliver and once you find a few viral structures that you can
test you'll be a lot closer to getting the views your videos deserve but there is one more thing you need to do if you want to boost your watch time because the truth is following a viral video structure is the first step next you need to learn how to put your audience into something called a binge Loop which means that not only do they watch one video but they watch multiple videos on your channel and you can learn how to do that in this video right now seemed a good idea when I started what
