hi everyone I'm Dave Butler I'm Grace Freeman welcome to don't miss this scripture study class all right if you are new with us we move through the scriptures we follow the compal and we curriculum bit by bit and we point out things we think you don't want to miss that's what we do um PS should I I just remembered this next week I we will have all of niers this is so weird to say but we'll have all of next year's like study materials study resources to show you there are going to be be available
for the doctrine of covenants here starting sometime like next weekish weird right so Merry Christmas Merry Christmas is basically what we're saying right now we're getting close to the End of This Book which is sad we still have so much good stuff including today so anyways just get excited about next week so we'll have Show and Tell next week or the week after I can't remember but anys start anticipating those things really what that means is it's time to start getting Christmas ready and hopefully that doesn't stress you okay we are in the middle of
the savior's visit to the lands of the Nephites and lamanites so over the past couple of weeks we have been talking about what the introduction calls the crowning event of the entire Book of Mormon where the Savior personally ministers among them we've seen the Savior move among the people if you've been keeping track of all these Tender Mercies throughout we have watched the Savior like it's getting so it is really getting so awesome and hopefully remember everyone you could have put these in the chapters too but don't and you still can yeah you still can
it's fine and it's cool if you've been doing this to look past what look to the Past look back and see all of the things that this is how he's been ministering among the people in these past couple of lessons it's been in person he's been among them uh not just through the ministry of the spirit and in the heart and in the mind uh but or or Angels but genuinely I literally among the people so this is a section kind of of his teaching so we're sort of like jumping right into the middle of
it you're just kind of skipping halfway through um a movie right now is what's happening but he's there he appeared to them there's a lot of healing that happened um and then one thing before we get into this you might want to know is that he uh part of his time with them he introduced the ordinance of the sacrament to them but we're starting today where he's doing it a second time which I think is interesting in and of itself self yeah so that's where we're jumping in um in 35 chapter 20 well and it's
something that I think is remarkable that I never noticed before is he reintroduces this is the very beginning of chapter 20 you see it in verse three that they start breaking bread and having wine and the sacrament is happening again for the very second time but there is a miracle that I have missed my entire life when I read this the verse six one yes did you also have that moment I circled it this time I was like wait how come I never knew that before same same I have never even read this miracle ever
which I think is like the smallest cutest lesson ever that I want to think 10 words long it's just this it's snuck in there like it was no big deal yeah and it made me think and I'll tell you the miracle everyone you're on the edge of your seats it's fine I'll tell you but what I want to think about before is how many miracles even weekly Miracles am I missing in my life just because I read right over them or I looked right over them then I'm like wait a minute that's a really cool
miror that I just lived right through because what happens is in verse number six it's going to say now oh by the way they just had the sacrament and then it's like a PS it's a miracle PS Now there had been no bread neither wine brought by the disciples neither by the multitude no he didn't take someone's lunch like he did in the New Testament like it wasn't like he just like hey hey who brought this for the sacrament like did anyone remember like where are the deacons did they like remember their job I don't
even know whose job it is I just made that lie up but it's fine you know he like was looking around who brought it no no no that didn't happen this time he truly gave unto them bread to eat and also wine to drink that was Miracle number one already and I think that there is a really important lesson there when we think about us showing up to the sacrament every single week because all of a sudden I started realizing that maybe he just wanted to teach that there are going to be some days when
you show up with nothing and that is enough m you just showing up is enough because he already brought everything that you will need you just got to get there you don't need to bring anything all you need is yourself and there are a lot of weeks when I feel like I sit down on a bench in the middle of the chapel that I go to every single week and I think I didn't even do anything good this week I barely got myself here and I am just running by like the very like little tiny
bit of stuff that I have remaining and I just got here and I love the promise in chapter 20 that that is enough to show up like that every single week and yeah and I think in comparison to the other story those are two really good lessons yeah you know just like in the boy in the New Testament we learned the lesson bring whatever it is that you have and in this version of that lesson we would add on to that even if it's nothing right yep a a desirous heart right a pleading heart a
needing heart is all that somebody needs 100% And he has enough for you that's how it's going to work and what's going to happen is he goes through and he says this lesson that also wins my heart over to the sacrament once more because he says listen anyone that eats the bread is partaking of my body the body to his soul and he that drinketh of this wine drinketh of thy blood to his soul and this part is just everything you could ever hope for and his soul shall never hunger nor thirst but shall be
filled and there are going to be Sundays when we show up empty and we say I didn't even bring anything I am empty of energy I am empty of hope I'm empty of like the like the belief that maybe there's another chance for me I am empty of Grace I am empty of Mercy I don't have anything I have nothing going for me I am desperate I'm desperate for something more I desperately need hope I desperately need forgiveness this Sunday I desperately need the ability to forgive this Sunday I desperately need the confidence to walk
into this week believing in myself and believing in my God I desperately need fill in the blank that's the power of the priesthood you fill in the blank with whatever you need here and he says that's what you're showing up for on Sundays is it like for me to look at you and say I have what you need what you are lacking I can feel through the priesthood ordinance every every single week yeah and I think there's some lines that you want to underline and end of verse one do not cease to pray in your
hearts for whatever it is that you need remember back a lesson or two ago where he as a father to a child whatever it is that you need keep asking for it I also circled in verse three the word again we're doing this ordinance again and we're going to do it again and we're going to do it again and again and again because people go empty like cars right as frustrating as that is that you always have to fill up your car with gas it's a reality of driving a car and so is the reality
of living IM mortality that week to week we're going to go empty on things all those things that Grace listed um but he verse 7 will truly give and he'll fill you up is the promise in verse eight so that you'll never you don't ever have to go hungry or thirsty ever again um when I there was this one Sunday when I was trying I was a little bit late and Jenny was already there Sav a seat and I texted her and I just said hey where are you sitting and she was like the west
side or something like I'm a compass and I know and I was like I know like where and then she said by the Sacramento table you know it autocorrected the Sacramento table and Grace had served her mission in Sacramento and I actually visited Grace in her mission in Sacramento and that's a story for another day we will bring that up another time um and so because Sacramento reminds me of Grace in our text messages back and forth Jenny said the Sacramento table and I said Grace I texted that cuz it just sometimes I type out
the first word that comes to my mind um that could be a fault but I put Grace in there and then I wrote The Grace table uh and then right when I wrote it I was like that is my new name for the sacrament table the grace table the place that fills you up with whatever it is that you need that list that Grace this Grace um just gave if I'm in need of hope you can be filled up with hope that's a table I I just love we call it a table and I wish
we would stop and think about it right it could be called an altar rightfully so but traditionally we call it a table because something is served on it and something is being truly given without price verse six reminds us there's other verses that say that but six says there was nothing there and but I will provide it for you miraculously you'll walk away filled and you'll say I wow how did that even happen you know there's something about it we talked about this last week that that ordinance really does reach back in time to Gethsemane
to the Cross to the Easter tomb and all the power of whatever happened on that Easter weekend can flow into our lives 2,000 years later well and I think one thing that I love is that it says he says this you're taking a part of me a part of my body and a part of my blood you are taking that into your soul and it does just make me want to ask the question like oh who is he that I need right now yeah and what part of him do I need do I need the
peace do I need the Comfort do I need him to be the high priest of good things to come what do I need him to be and I get to take that with me when I show up on Sundays for the rest of the week till next right right and I think that's really important that we're saying and we again we touched on this last week but a lot of times we might just say that that Sacrament ordinance is only for a remembrance of him which it is and a forgiveness of sin which it is
but forgiveness is not the only thing being served on that table every synonym to Grace every we should say this um one way to define grace is divine favor so every kind of divine favor that you need is being served on that table and and he says in verse one don't cease to ask for it you don't whatever your condition circumstance whatever you have with you don't cease to ask it it will be there for you and up to filling right which is and then doesn't it make you just want to think this who do
you need to invite to that table in your life right now and explain to them that that's actually what it is because the truth is we're really quick to be like oh I don't really want to invite them to church that feels a little bit weird but if you sat them down and said what do you need right now because that is what you can find in that ordinance that is what is being served at that table it makes my heart start like being like wait I have so many people I need to like take
their hand and say let me bring you to the best place of my week yeah so awesome now what's interesting is there is this little thing that happens at that Sacrament table right where we become renewed we we become refreshed we become restored and I just want to think about that third word for a second because we what happens is in individual lives is those three things renewed refreshed and restored and then we become this model this pattern of what God hopes for all of humanity and it's been that way since the very beginning this
Narrative of scripture is we're trying to get back to that Garden of Eden state right we're trying there's this big picture that God has in mind and that's what you start seeing in chapter 20 and 21 and 22 I just want you to remember that as you read these chapters he's trying to point out this let me show you a picture of endgame of my grand and great hope for all of humanity together in scripture these are called the covenants made to the fathers to Abraham Isaac and Jacob to Adam to Enoch to Noah right
it was this this idea of I'm going to restore all of humanity usually when we use that word restore we are talking about an event or a something that God has brought back to the Earth right He restored a church He restored power He restored opportunity He restored ordinances he restor right we'll say like that but remember his endgame is a restoration of a people and this the worksheet that you have for this week is helps you kind of like think through this or to teach through this two columns one is what has been restored
what are the gifts of Heaven that have come down and then to what end on the other side so God's end game wasn't to restore a church to reveal the gospel those were tools to an end and so it's neat to kind of like separate those out and I I don't know if I did this perfectly up on the board here you can see some different verses that I put up to kind of get you started in your study remember you can get these in the app they're saved in the app or screenshot that and
write them all down but um I took verses from 20 and also from 21 to kind of illustrate this and these aren't all of them but you see for example in in 2018 this is an end verse this is a a end game verse chapter 20:8 I will gather my people together as a man gathereth his sheaves off the floor right you see that language throughout scripture he's said I want everyone home that's endgame for me is what he's saying there um another one verse 22 he says um this people will I establish under the
fulfilling of the Covenant I made with your father Jacob they will be in a New Jerusalem and the powers of Heaven shall be in the midst of the people he's describing this like what you see in the Book of Revelation in chapters 21 and 22 this like everyone's home and they live as kings and queens and and it's just this picture of like this is what I want this is what I hope for you'll see other verses in there Ro say I I the the the people that were Barren will have children the the lands
that were desolate will will flow with water like he's like this is end game you're going to see a lot of those and then you see over on this other side different things he says I'm going to restore to help that happen chapter 20:30 for example the fullness of my gospel being preached is one of those that he's going to restore 35 I'm going to make bear my holy arm in the eyes of all the nations I love that verse because it opens up the door for so many specifics right um how has he made
his holy arm when you bear your holy arm that's a way of saying like I'll show I will show my power I will show I will do my work you know in all these places where's that one that says I'm going to work a work oh chapter 21 n yeah yeah 219 for example um the father will work a work and it will be great and it will be marvelous and I just love to think about where do you see that what a fun thing to list what a fun one thing to watch for this
left side of the list we could say the big ones yeah temples priesthood truth religions right the things that have been restored to restore all of humanity God didn't want like a church on the earth the church was established so that the whole world right that's one of the things that was established so that the whole world could be renewed refreshed and restored well and I think there are so often times in my life when everyone wants to talk about God being a promis keeper and I think there were so many times in my life
that I didn't really attach myself to that characteristic of him because I didn't know what promises I cared like I was like well what promises like I'm like okay great like what were the promises I don't know if I really care so much and you will see promise after promise after promise in these two chapters and if you are in a time of your life where you that is something that you need when you read one and you're going to say oh my goodness I really do need him to show up with a marvelous work
in my life right now that this is our chapters these are our chapters which means that these promises will be fulfilled for us and so when we need God to be a promisee keeper and you read these and you say I need that in my life right now when you study and you say my heart longs for that I need that promise that is something that you can hold on to and what you can attach his name to he is promising to keep these that's what the restoration is is him showing you how committed he
is to keeping the promises he has made and I think it's really smart we've talked about this before when we talk about covenants to remember that God is a keeper of covenants generally we talk about this we'll say it's a two-way promise and we'll say what's my promise and that's sort of the focus which I'm not disregarding that we should know we should should know what our job is but it's heavily skewed in the direction of God promising magnificent things and God saying I'm going to fulfill every one of those maybe you'll go through these
chapters and underline or Mark every time he says I will fulfill the Covenant promises I made and if you were with us in Old Testament year that's what we tracked that year we tracked the Covenant promises that God made to Israel I wonder if they're still in the app under Old Testament I can't remember yeah I bet they're in there may uh here's here's a scavenger hunt go in the dailies section and then you can go to Old Testament and I think at the very top there's where we kept track of all the Covenant promises
well as a lot of the Covenant promises that God Made You know to Israel yeah um one of the things I think is really important that You' put on the left side what's been restored is this line that I just kind of thought of in Chapter 20: 2 where he says you are the children of the prophets and you're the house of Israel and you are of the Covenant which God made to your fathers saying in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed and I think it's really interesting that what one
of the things God did to help bring about the restoration of the world as he sent you that's what he's saying in that verse I sent you to to be a model of what the gospel of what Jesus can do in a person but to be the messenger of Hope and the messenger of Grace to take people to the grace table like you were saying earlier he was like I sent you I restored and refreshed and renewed you not so you could live guilt-free although yay but so that you might be a messenger of that
Grace to the rest of the world go go show be a light on the hill let you let so that other people may glorify God so there's something I think that's really cool about him saying that to the people on that you I I saved you that you might be a messenger of my grace to the rest of the world and that also is a grand privilege that interesting he like couches it as it's a privilege and we talked about a couple weeks ago like what a thrill it is to be on you know part
of that so a lot to search there there's some things to get you going in there but there is that kind of sweeping theme throughout these chapters that I think is really cool lots of different things that you'll discover and talk about and and and just remind yourself of well and I think you'll start to realize that restoration even when you're not even talking about it on a spiritual level level on a god level restoration is not a simple quick thing even the word restoration as a verb implies a project truly and like when I
like right before I went on my mission I wanted a Jeep so bad and my mom gave me a budget and she's like if you can find a Jeep that's going to cost it was like $1,500 she's like you can have it and I was like sold and I like like just searched and searched on KSL until I found like a little yellow Jeep it's like 1975 Jeep okay and we went and picked it up and it had been through a restoration process that is the true first of all because it's a male Jeep so
like the steering wheel's on the opposite side it was not meant for driving yes mailman why are there genders in Jeeps aren't all Jeep boys different M different male ma m and um so the steering wheel is on the wrong side and it was ancient okay it was from so long ago for a car and he like would talk about it he's like and it's yellow like originally it was for sure not yellow like he would talk to us about the restoration process and to be honest when we brought it home I thought that process
was finished and I was like yeah he did it he put in the work and it's looking really nice and my dad will be the first to say that that restoration is still happening right now because every single summer is still needs a little pickme up and there's still things that fall apart and that that need a little bit of extra love and it is still a process and even when I thought it was finished we really quickly learned that restoration is not a quick thing and God knows that and he introduced his people to
that idea and he's like listen I need you to know at the end of 21 he's going to say this work has started the father commenced among all the dispersed people the work shall commence in verse 27 earlier in 26 it says like commenced all the work has commenced the restoration has begun but he does not say that it has finished he says the work has just started and restoration is not a snap of the fingers and completed work it's going to take some time and um I love how he starts chapter 22 because he
builds into that idea in verse number two and he's like listen you need to understand enlarge the place of your tent let them stretch Force the curtains of thy habitations spare not lengthen thy courts and strengthen your Stakes because you're going to be here for a while this is going to be something that you make it look nice you make you make a yard and you plant a garden and you stick your steaks in for a really long time like you're going to have to survive through quite a few storms because the restoration process is
not overnight God's work is not a one check done God's work is the whole process the whole entire time from be beginning till the very end restoration was not a one-time event that's his continual passion it's his work it's his he spends his time doing is a restoration of his people that is what he's hoping for right yeah yeah and were you going to say something no no I'm just kind of like yeah well I just you're saying it and I just think it's really important that like in our vocabulary usually restoration means things restored
yes which God is going to keep sending people sending truth sending opportunities right to the Earth for the purpose I just think it's really important to remind ourselves like oh yeah for the restoration of all people the work is not finished the great Jehovah will not say the work is done until the work is done and the work is people it's not going to be what's on the earth it's oh have we refreshed renewed and restored all of humanity into a New Jerusalem into into a Zion has that happened yet right that's that and that
is the ongoing restoration for sure and I think that when you're a part of it just like a little human like me I think there are moments when I say what this is you either have to be done like this has to be over or like you're not doing a good job right now or this isn't working out the way that it should be working out and he speaks to a heart that's like mine and he says there are going to be moments when you're going to think that I forgot about the project there are
going to be moments when you think that wait this isn't going how it should be going this is getting Messier this isn't working out anymore you must have given up on people like me and he speaks directly to a heart like that and he says listen in verse 6 of chapter 22 when you feel like a woman who is Forsaken and grieved in spirit brokenhearted forgotten about left on the curb when you feel like that type of person and you want to cry and you feel like your heart is in a million pieces and you're
going to say God walked out on me God decided that I wasn't worth the work anymore God God gave up on me because I was too big of a mess the restoration wasn't going to work on someone like me because I was already too far gone he says I need you to remember who I am I need you to remember the type of worker I am and he says for a small moment I have forsaken thee but with great mercies will I gather thee that is the restoration to me in one verse that it will
get messy and you might feel forgotten about and you might think this has all gone to pieces this is a disaster and he will say wait wait wait I I didn't forget you even though you felt like I might have but in fact I will prove it to you in the future and I will gather you with my Mercy to prove it to you and that's our word of the week this week is Mercy and it comes from this B this verse and I love that it is just this moment and I love this part
that it says um in the definition from 1828 that it says a person to overlook injuries or to treat an offender better than he deserves and when we feel like God should give up on us and we give him reason and we say yeah you should walk out the door on me because I am too far gone you remember that we have someone that treats us far better than what we deserve yeah his Mercy is not based on our resume it's based off of his right we'll say I I don't deserve this and it's like
I I know it's not about like your heart and your record it's this is all about his heart and his record 100% 100% And I just think it's awesome that we have this poster up if you're forgetting to hang up your posters hang up this one for sure yeah and for the next three months it's fine yeah for just that that reminder of that verse six were you going to were you keep going going where he just says that you know if for those times that about yourself or about other people in a small moment
verse 7 where you may feel forsaken he says with great mercies will I gather you I'm not done done I'm not done with you I'm not done with your sister I'm not done with your nephew I'm not done with your son I'm not done with the neighbor across the street that you you've become so endeared to I'm not done with uh your aunt who passed away and you wonder like oh my work's still going on I'm I'm in a I'm in a long game with people is is what he says in here I mean I
think it's interesting in verse n that he wants to mention the Waters of Noah yeah where you're just like he's like oh I'm not done that wasn't the end of that story either right yeah I'm not and you just keep finding things like that look at verse 10 even if the mountains like depart if you live in a place with mountains like you can you can visualize this like what if one day they just left he was like even if that happens which that's absurd have you seen them they're big not you Tennessee people with
your Rolling Hills we're not talking about those we're talking big old mountains is if one day those are gone he was like my kindness won't be my promises won't be like I'm I'm going to f I'm going to fulfill them you know and I think can I just add this one other part in here too um that I kind of forgot to say in chapter 21 but this is's a great place to say it chapter 21 starts with Jesus saying this do you want to sign that the that my work has commenced right um it's
the these words when these words come forth he says the words you're reading right now that is a sign to you that my work has commenced verse 7 says that it's all it have already commenced unto the fulfilling of the Covenant it started and I'm not done until I fulfill my Covenant renew refresh restore all of humanity including the people you know their names and you care and I care most about so hang this up for a week and remember His Mercy in the long game I'm not done my mercies are going to stick around
right just broke that okay right um my but then for the rest of your life when you have the Book of Mormon sitting out on the counter on your desk he says that's a sign let that that be a reminder every time you see it that I'm not done with people my work has already commenced as you're praying about your son that you're so worried about your daughter you're so worried about your brother you're so worried about let part of the answer to that prayer be these words I've already commenced my work with them I'm
in I'm in motion already this is 34 ad I think yeah Circle that in the what do you call in the chap heading in the chapter heading this 34 ad he says I I already started I've been working 2,000 years we're 2,000 years right even this book The Story of this book is it's going to end with a guy burying it as the very last remaining believer and you think okay we it it's broken God failed we all failed and it's like no no no no no it's going to come back up out of the
ground right I'm not done I'm not done well and I love that you said use this book as a reminder because to me that's something that I noticed this year as we've been studying is that I feel like every single story in here sounds like God whispering I do not give up on my kids amen over and over and over and if you need a reminder of that you should read chapter 22 every single day yeah and this is a promise God will keep and when you need to remember that when you feel like God
should give up on you he will choose to turn back to you in kindness over and over and over and over and at the very end when you think I don't know I don't know if that's going to work for me you remember in verse 17 that he said nothing no weapon that is formed against you will prosper and every tongue shall revile against the in judgment Thou shalt condemn he said no don't you worry with me you will come out a conqueror yeah that is what I do as a person and I think chapter
23 that one of the messages from the next chapter might have to do with that I don't know so what happens in chapter 23 is that uh he wants Nephi to bring the records over to him because he says hey don't you remember that Samuel the lonite he says in verse seven bring the records to me Nephi and Nephi brought him over and imagine do you think he was a little scared he like bring me your Journal I like oh actually it's got a key he's like I'm a little behind I'm a little behind but
I got notes I got notes of what I need to and he says don't you remember in verse n that Samuel the lamanites testified that on that day when the sign will come many Saints should arise from the dead and will appear and Minister unto them and then he asked the question was it not so and then he says back yes Samuel did say that and yeah it did happen and then Jesus is like will you put that in there I need that to go in there now in a later chapter in today's reading we're
going to find out in chapter 26 Mormon says I didn't include I only included one/ 100th of what Jesus said and did so we're using a lot of really valuable real estate in chapter 23 and of all the things that happened in this summary text this is a summary of the book of Mormon is remember Jesus is very very particular the Nephi includes that part in there and I think that's just worth wondering the answer is not here it's just worth Wonder wondering for a second why did you want that particular I mean part of
this is a lesson on forgetting right for sure for sure well even like this is what happened to me this week is in one of my classes a boy was just doing his personal study and he was reading about when the sign came and they all like saw it and it was light for 3 days and then 10 years later they all forgot yeah and it was just like and he was like you're kidding me he was like how did they forget like that doesn't even make any sense and we like had the conversation about
like both of us realizing like humans are so forgetful we just are by nature and then I read this that very day that we had talked and it was so interesting because this whole chapter to me was almost I feel like Jesus giving a hint and saying I know I know your minds and I know they forget it doesn't even matter how big the miracle is I know you are forgetful people and to me it was just like and this is like this was my personal revelation that I got when I was was reading it
it was this moment that he's like I have given you scriptures so that you can remember my power you can look back on every single story and say that's the god I believe in oh yeah I remember he is capable of a great and marvelous work because I have read page after page of evidence of that and then a little Whisper of saying I will still do Miracles like that in your life and those are just as easy to forget so you make sure to take some time and you write some things down because those
are just as important to remember as the words in this book yeah and what's interesting is like what you know where you just said like I guess it's just a human thing to do to forget yeah people came back from the dead okay you may forget like your dinner whatever yeah like oh I forgot to get milk at the store when I went oh my gosh I forgot that I got that for Christmas this year but ain't nobody going to forget that their Grandma came back from the dead and visited them on the day of
the sign she like you you didn't include that in your Journal You Know Jack will write his emails home from his mission he's like nothing really happened this week and I'm like s days really and then like halfway through the conversation he was like oh this this really cool thing happened like what do you mean nothing happened right it's like your dead people came back alive you know and it's just like you forgot to write that down it's crazy how people can be and we got to know that about ourselves and put our reminders in
place right and just so you know nothing has changed my life more than than journaling I've almost done it for 365 days in a row and I am the biggest advocate for journaling so start it'll change your life but I think another cool thing to think about in this chapter is why that lesson why did he want to make sure that didn't get forgotten and I don't know but perhaps part of it is this Jesus said I need you to remember I bring dead things back to life after all of this discussion about the grand
restoration I'm doing even if it feels dead I need everyone to remember things rise from the dead with me things that you thought were long gone and long forgotten things that you called impossible are no longer impossible I maybe that's why I don't know but that could be a cool discussion too for sure why you think that now the next couple chapters two of them he quotes um the words of Malachi and he says you really needed these words in here and I think 2425 and 26 are sort of now just this invitation maybe so
among other things right an invitation to so come unto the god of Israel come unto this God who is going to have mercy that lasts forever and ever even longer than the mountains come unto this God who can take if you come empty he can fill you up come unto this God who takes dead things and brings them back to life come unto this God who's in in the long game and there's and there's phrases in 24 and 25 about don't Rob this God right in verse eight says when have we robbed you and he
says well in your tithes and offerings in verse eight so humbling that HEB really he really said well okay you're asking yeah right and he's like but and then and then he says prove me right you know this verse prove me if I won't pour out a blessing which I do think is really interesting coming from the last three chapters is what I was just thinking is he just went through and he gave you promise after promise after promise after promise and like kind of in my head when I read them I'm like really like
do you really think that that's going to you're going to be capable of that and I love that he's going to finish this thought and say if you're doubting if I'm serious I will prove it to you yeah that is how in I am on your Covenant that I will prove it to you if you want to prove me okay I'm not scared of that great yeah and I think this interesting because right after those verses where I've usually stopped reading I don't know why you know where he just says and I'm going to rebuke
the devour for your sakes and this idea of tithes and offerings by the way is I I I think when we read it we need to not think of money right we need to think of Hearts just give me your heart right because we're we can be so attached to money it feels like oh giving my money is a way that I give kind of my loyalty in my heart CU God doesn't want our money God doesn't necessarily need our money it's like I want your heart is what I want I want your loyalty you
know I want your I want your passion I want your I want your like what you care about yes right is what I'm after and and later in that chapter he just says you some of you have spoken against us in verse 13 and they said how in 14 says some people have said it's vain to serve God and what does it profit us we've kept his ordinances and and and so much so that we've had to walk mournfully in this world and look at the proud they're happy look at the wicked everything's getting set
up for them everybody who like fought against God they're being delivered like was it worth it you know sometimes you go like on on on a trip or you go to a fancy restaurant or or something like that and someone might ask that question was it worth it you paid a lot for Taylor swof concert you know was it worth it was you know and maybe one day we'll get to heaven and uh someone will say was it worth it to follow God all throughout your life and in here he's bringing up a group of
people who are saying like we didn't even get anything out of it down there you know it was like it was vain to follow him because even the bad guys got stuff like we were no better off than any of them and I read that this morning I thought to myself I can almost hear God asking me well is that why you did it you know to get something out of it was that the reason you gave your heart over to me is is for is for uh it's because I don't sign prenuptials you know
it's like what what do I get out of this and uh I think it's just an interesting question ask ourselves am I doing it for the you know now now God's liberal with his promise giving well that's what I was just and he just and and he says it and he says it oh and imagine the fact that he is still willing to bless us even though it might change the way we see our relationship with him yeah but I think there's a Temptation within all of us to want this you know I want heaven
and God's my way to get there instead of wanting God and realizing oh that was Heaven relationship with him was was heaven but but in consideration of all that throughout these chapters I think you can find several things that list in there that says see if I won't pour it out see if I won't rebuke the Destroyer for you verse 25 see if I won't give you promises in verse six so compelling it turns your heart something so beautiful and wonderful you do a U-turn with where you're going see if I won't bless all your
relationships to you know to last see if I won't expound ver chapter 26 verse one see if you won't see greater things chapter 26:9 see if I won't show myself often unto you 26 verse 13 and see if at the end of this life if you don't start saying to everybody oh was it worth it and you say oh my gosh 266 I can't even tell you a h hundredth of the things that happened in my life because of Jesus of Nazareth because I was involved in the great work of the Father the long work
of the father it was the thrill of a thousand lifetimes to be able to be a part of that to see him moving and working and uh and then be a recipient of all the promises in the end anyways right but I just think that that's the the the blessing itself seems to be relationship with you know with him but just in case that's not good enough let me let me tell you what relationship well let me tell you what relationship with with me looks like he seems to say in there as well so okay
one more section of uh of Jesus's work oneon-one yeah I mean like in person among the people so such good stuff coming next week too have a great week everyone
