triplets Ricky jump Kendall scavo and Julianne scavo are sisters and best friends I think I really lean on both of them it's the closest we've ever been the three have such an Inseparable Bond it's hard to believe they were actually separated at Birth 32 years ago in Colorado their biological mom Kathleen and her husband Lee used a sperm donor and became pregnant with triplets but the couple had to make a tough decision they decided to to put two babies up for adoption they were not well off financially and again my mom was 100% deaf so
that further complicated the situation made both of them believe that they wouldn't be able to raise three children successfully Kathleen and Lee raised Ricky while Julianne and Kendall were adopted as twins by Tina and Ken scavo who lived 40 mil away Ricky grew up knowing she was a triplet but Julianne and Kendall had noide idea they had another sister until their parents gave them a special Christmas gift when they were 8 years old they had told kennel and I that they had one present left for us uh and it was the kind of present that
could not be wrapped in a box and they showed us a picture of Ricky and let us know that we had another sister out there the triplets then began exchanging letters every few months so we were like pen pals it was the highlight of my childhood in one letter Ricky writing to her sisters all I've ever wanted was to run up to you and embrace both of you in my arms a few years later Ricky finally got that chance to hug her sisters the three meeting for the first time at a local mall when they
were 11 years old we you know walked in and saw each other and just like ran up and gave each other the biggest hugs and was like we had known each other forever since then through all of life's ups and downs including the tragic loss of both of their dads the triplets have only grown closer and now the three Liv just minutes away from each other in Austin Texas we're seeing each other at least once a week if not twice the more time we spend around each other the more we start to like sound like
each other and act like each other they've even started a podcast together about their Story featuring some special guests you're here with the three babies that you birthed look at you all you're all together and you're healthy and happy and smart the triplets say they're grateful for each other and they're now unbreakable Bond they are just like the most important people to me being able to kind of cultivate this really unique relationship has just been like the best thing that we all could have done here they are the triplets Ricky Jules and Kendall good morning
we're so happy okay this has been such an emotional Journey just to watch this unfold and Rick you always knew that you that you were missing a part of you what was it like describe the moment when you're 11 years old you're in a mall and you see the two sisters who you've kind of dreamt of meeting a lot like a puzzle piece sliding into place uh I had been a pretty sad kid up to that point just because of the tragic loss of my father so it was like the first reprieve I had from
that in a long time and you're identical Ricky and Jules so was that Jules what was that like not only are you meeting these this long lost sister you're identical yeah it was it was very trippy I had been resistant to thinking that we were identical for a long time but um it was like looking in a mirror and knowing that I didn't have those clothes and I didn't have my ears paired so yeah it was a little jarring but it was so fun Kendall I was thinking about that Christmas when your parents kind of
surprised you with a photograph what you have to describe that moment I can imagine it was exciting but also sort of like jarring it was very surreal um because yeah it looked like we were looking at a picture of Julianne but like obviously not julan it was like that our parents took us aside separately asked us individually how we felt about it how did you feel I said I'm unique um but yeah it's been uh really cool so you know the years have gone on you you have obviously formed a really close relationship have you
noticed things now where you're like oh yeah we're so triplets I mean here it's an interesting thing where two of you had a different upbringing than you did Ricky but do you find those similarities triplet stuff we talk about nature versus nurture all the time Julian and I especially speak exactly the same which I'm sure you've noticed have the same hand movements but most of all we just got the Oddball Jee I would say um did you ever I wonder when you knew that you know the way you were separated your mom had to make
that very very difficult decision that birth mom did you ask your mom like why us why did it happen this way I think we always I don't know if it was why us so much is why them my parents because they did fight so long to have babies through the adoption process and because they told us so young it was just always a part of growing up and it was never like a shock to us that we were adopted but of course when it when we found out we were had a triplet that was bigger
shock mean for your adoptive parents I'm sure it was a complex decision because you know you always are you know want to make sure that you know you're you're going to hold on to your kids that you're raising and you love so much and you know when you add in this other element in a birth mom I mean that's it takes a lot of Courage for your adopted parents to say okay let's bring these girls together yeah I think they had to overcome a lot of fear in order to do that because I think they
just always had that inherent like fear that we would see like our birth mom and um our sister and like feel like a biological pull but that was just never the case so so we're looking at you three you all live in Austin I mean this is the craziest situation um how did it come to be that the three of you wound up in the same city sharing life like that yeah so I moved to Austin first for graduate school let's just pretend because we're on the Today's Show that I completed that and um about
I'd say eight years later Julianne had just been soul searching in California and I begged her to come join me and Kendall just couldn't stay away oh I love it well you're together right where you belong it's so fun to have you here I mean just shows you that family transcends all of our definitions it sure does than I can't wait to hear your podcast too by the way love the Star Wars your feedback all right by the way we've got a lot more on this remarkable story on today.com thank you girl than you hey
