your job is not the problem it's not holding you back it's actually making you stronger once I started working a full-time job after college I quickly realized that I wanted more from life I remember learning that some of my new co-workers had been working in the same position that I just started for like 20 or 30 years and I was honestly in shock now traditionally if people stay for a long time that's usually a sign of a good job a good company which my job certainly is but what really shocked me was the thought that this could be it this could be my life doing the same work for 30 plus years years taking my 15 days of vacation a year and retiring at age 65 and I knew that many people would be content with that life obviously my co-workers were but I knew that I personally needed to do something outside of my full-time job and reach my full potential but with 40 plus hours a week taken up by my job I felt like I barely had the time or energy to do anything else I remember I felt like the days were flying by but I just kind of stayed in the same place I'd wake up go to work maybe have some time to go to the gym cook dinner watch TV go to sleep and repeat took me about 2 years years of struggling and watching my dream slip away to finally figure out how to properly manage my time with a full-time job and this past year the results have really started to show I've been uploading at least one video a week on my YouTube channel for the past year I've grown my subscribers from zero to 7,000 in less than a year I've been able to travel the world work out consistently spend quality time with friends and family all while continuing to get high performance ratings and promotions at my day job making six figures at the age of 24 even though I still work a full-time job I honestly love my life right now and feel fulfilled and confident in the direction that I'm headed so in this video I'll take you through six levels to optimize your time while working a full-time job so by the end you'll know my exact system that I'm using to stay productive reach my goals and enjoy life outside of my day job all right so level zero was basically me like 3 years ago I was kind of a entrepreneur or a want toe entrepreneur where I had the desire to start a side hustle or some kind of business outside of my normal job but I just never really made any real progress and this Probably sounds pretty relatable at some point you also have probably thought about starting a side business or maybe even just start a new hobby or spend more quality time with friends and family but because you can barely keep up with the demands of your regular everyday life you never really make any progress you might technically have some free time during the week or on the weekends but you feel like you need and deserve that time to relax escape and unwind that sounds like you don't worry I think we all pretty much start that stage and it's very easy to move up to level one by auditing our time this is a very simple exercise that everyone can do and so if you're at level zero right now and you just don't do this exercise and take this first basic step then you're going to remain at level zero so all you have to do is get out a piece of paper like this and a pen and just start thinking of all the things you do on a given week and try to estimate how much time it actually takes up so first you probably have your full-time job and that takes you know at least 40 hours a week maybe a couple extra hours for commuting you're trying to sleep 8 hours a day you can do the math there maybe 3 hours a day for meals an hour for exercise then add any other commitments that you might have on a given week and for now just put the things that you are actually required to do on a given week so you need to go to work you need to eat you need to sleep you maybe need to get some exercise that type of stuff now whatever that adds up to subtract it from 168 and that will give you the amount of hours that you are technically free or have the freedom to choose how you spend that time and the next step is just for one week to track how much time you spend on on all the different activities in your life so you can just proceed with life as normal for this one week but maybe at the end of the day just on a piece of paper again you can just write out estimating like how much time you spent on different things so maybe I slept for like 8 hours today I went to work for 8 hours then I you know watched TV with my girlfriend for an hour and a half and I went to the gym for an hour and then I spent you know 45 minutes on my phone and then you just add all this up at the end of each day make sure it adds up to 24 all obviously and then at the end of the week we'll be able to see how we actually spend our time so make sure you take some time to do this exercise because we're going to come back to it when we get to level three at level two we need to clarify our objectives so at this point we need to take a step back and zoom out and ask ourselves well what do we actually wish we had time for you clicked on this video because you want to be able to better manage your time with a full-time job well why is that what goal are you working towards that you feel like is difficult to achieve because of the time commitments of your day job so for example for me it's growing my YouTube channel and business to eventually hopefully replace my full-time job and so you might have something similar you want to start a business or side hustle or you have some project that you're working on whatever it is just make sure you have some clarity on what you actually want to achieve level three is to cut out the noise and identify the essentials so go back to the time audit we did in level one and just look at everything that you spent your time on on this given week and next to anything that positively impacts your ability to progress towards your goals put a big plus next to it anything that negatively impacts your ability to achieve your goals put a minus and so you see where we're going with this we basically just want to do more of the things with a plus and do less of the things with a minus it's simple as that you don't need to overthink it but that's what actually works now if as you're going through and putting your pluses and minuses if there's anything where you feel kind of unsure about like well maybe it doesn't clearly help me but it doesn't hurt me either it's kind of in this weird Middle Ground then those are the things that you might actually need to focus more on optimizing if you spend a lot of time doing those vague sort of Middle Ground activities then you'll be stuck in a vague middle ground in your life you'll be in kind of this mediocre comfort zone where you're not pushing forward in life but you're not falling backwards either you're just kind of stuck there in park you can choose to keep your car in park you know in the driveway and probably won't crash but you're definitely not going to get to your destination and at this point we want to make sure to identify the core activities that will actually progress us toward our goals and move the needle forward and there really shouldn't be that many of activities maybe just one or two that will will actually progress you towards your goals and move the needle forward and so if you've got a bunch of ideas for things that you know could be these main activities you probably need to kind of filter through them and really think about which will have the greatest impact and you might realize that you don't actually need that much time to get these things done I'm miles and I make videos on this channel about honestly anything I'm really interested in but lately that has been about how to optimize our productivity and lifestyle to achieve our goals and build a life that we love if that sounds like something you're interested in click that subscribe button right now and you can always feel free to DM me on Instagram if this video helped you or you have any questions level four is all about structuring your day there's a few different things to consider when deciding how to structure your day and when to do certain activities I think about priority difficulty energy levels resistance and consistency priority and difficulty are pretty straightforward you know how big of a priority is this task how difficult it is thinking back to you know the core activities that will actually move us forward towards our goals those would be ones that I would consider a higher priority and they ALS tend to be higher in difficulty I always recommend to my clients that they start the day with the high priority High difficulty tasks because once they do that they'll feel a huge sense of relief and the rest of the day will just be kind of like they're coasting downhill the next thing to consider is energy levels and where your natural energy Peaks are throughout the day for me lately because of my diet this has been pretty much just consistently you know energized throughout the entire day from the time I wake up to the time I go to sleep but for you it might be different you know you might generally have more energy earlier in the day day whereas you get like kind of dip in the afternoon and maybe you have another peak of energy kind of in the evening sometime before bed right now if you're unsure at what time you get your sort of productive energy Peak or you feel like there's no point in the day where you feel energized and productive then my sort of general advice would just be to try doing the highest priority difficult tasks earlier in the day and then throughout the day you can gradually do more of the lower priority tasks so for me for example it's Saturday I woke up at 6:00 a. m. did a little morning routine and then got straight to work work um just scripting this video and now I'm recording it recording this video was the main high priority task that I assigned to myself for this day and so I started the day by doing this and later in the day I'll still you know do some other productive things but it's not going to be as high priority as what I'm doing right now finally I like to consider resistance and consistency so another reason why I like to do my high leverage important work first thing in the morning is because the morning time tends to be the most consistent period of time for people like you may have work that you have to go to but if you wake up early enough people aren't going to bug you there's not going to be kind of unexpected things most of the time so it's usually a pretty consistent thing so you can make a good routine of like always doing your high leverage work first thing in the morning before your normal day job or something or is if you tried to assign the time that you do the high priority work to later in the day you know like 5:30 p.
