what happens when the spirit leaves a person's body what happens after death this is a question everyone has pondered does our soul continue to live do we go to heaven or hell or do we simply cease to exist these questions are common a survey in the USA showed that 80% of people believe in something Beyond Death that's a lot of people some believe that the soul goes to Purgatory before going to heaven others think we reincarnate and some believe that we sleep until Jesus returns there are many different opinions about what happens after death but
what if I told you that the Bible has answers to these questions in today's video I will share five facts about death that might surprise you based on the Bible which will change your perspective on this topic the first thing to understand is that according to the Bible death is not the end but a transition this may seem hard to accept especially in a world where death is often seen as the final point of existence but God's word offers us a different perspective filled with hope in Ecclesiastes 12:7 we read the dust returns to the
ground it came from and the spirit returns to God who gave it this passage suggests that there is a separation between the physical body and the spirit and each has a different destination the body made from dust returns to dust but the spirit the invisible Essence that gives us life and Consciousness returns to God as if returning something that was lent to us fascinating isn't it but what exactly is this spirit that returns to God to better understand we need to go back to the moment of Creation in Genesis 2:7 we read the Lord God
formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the Man became a living being this Breath of Life is what we call Spirit the Divine spark that makes us alive conscious and capable of relating to God when we die this process reverses the body returns to the Earth but the spirit the essential part of who we are returns to the Creator now you might ask what happens to this spirit that returned to God well this is where it gets even more interesting the Bible gives us
some incredible clues about this in 2 Corinthians 5:8 Paul tells us something surprising he prefers to be away from the body and at home with the Lord this statement suggests that for those who believe in Jesus there is an immediate continuity of Consciousness after death isn't it amazing the idea that we can be in God's presence immediately after leaving this life brings a lot of Hope and comfort this means that death for a Christian is not a leap into the dark or a Plunge Into The Unknown but a passage to the immediate presence of God
imagine at the moment we Close Our Eyes in this life we open them in the presence of the Creator this completely changes how we view death doesn't it it ceases to be something fearful and becomes a doorway to a much more glorious reality of course this doesn't mean we won't feel sadness for the loss of loved ones or that death loses all its seriousness the Bible acknowledges that death is an enemy The Last Enemy to be defeated 1 Corinthians 15:26 but for those in Christ it has lost its power to cause fear and despair Jesus
gave us a vision of what happens after death in the parable of the rich man and Lazarus found in Luke 16:19-31 this story offers a fascinating glimpse into the Afterlife in it we see an immediate separation between the righteous and the unrighteous after death Lazarus the poor and righteous man is taken to Abraham's side a place of comfort and peace on the other hand the rich man who lived selfishly and indifferently to the suffering of others finds himself in a place of Torment it's important to note that this Parable shouldn't be taken literally in all
its details Jesus often used familiar stories and images to convey profound spiritual truths however this Parable gives us a clear idea of some important truths there is a continuity of Consciousness after death our choices in this life have eternal consequences and there is a separation between the righteous and the unrighteous in the afterlife these truths are confirmed in other parts of scripture and form the basis of the Christian understanding of what happens after death they remind us of the importance of living our Earthly life with our eyes fixed on eternity making choices that please God
and benefit others one of the most common questions about what happens after death is can the dead communicate with the living it's a natural question isn't it after all who hasn't wanted to talk one more time with a loved one who has passed away the biblical answer to this question is a clear no in Ecclesiastes 9:5 6 we read the living know that they will die but the dead know nothing they have no further reward and even their name is forgotten their love their hate and their jealousy have long since vanished never again will they
have a part in anything that happens Under the Sun this passage clearly states that the Dead no longer participate in the Affairs of this world they cannot communicate with us influence our lives or intervene in our matters this may seem discouraging especially for those who long for contact with deceased loved ones however this truth is actually a protection imagine if we were constantly haunted by the dead if the spirits of the deceased could freely interact with the Living World this could lead to all kinds of confusion fear and even manipulation the Bible teaches us to
seek guidance and comfort in God not in the dead in Isaiah 8:19 we read when someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists who whisper and mutter should not a people inquire of their God [Music] why consult the dead on behalf of the living this passage makes it clear that seeking communication with the dead is not the path God wants for us instead we are called to trust in him and seek his guidance for our lives but don't be sad although we cannot communicate with the dead we have something much better the promise of Resurrection
this is one of the most glorious and comforting truths in the entire Bible in 1 Thessalonians 41318 Paul gives us incredible vision of what will happen when Jesus returns he says brothers and sisters we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind who have no hope for we believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him according to the Lord's word we tell you that we
who are still alive who are left until the coming of the Lord will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep for the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a loud command with the voice of the Archangel and with the trumpet call of God and the dead in Christ will rise first after that we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and so we will be with the Lord forever what a wonderful promise Paul is telling us
that one day when Jesus returns all who died in faith in Christ will rise again and not only that but those who are alive at that time will also be transformed and join them to meet the Lord imagine what a glorious moment that will be all who died in faith in Christ throughout history rising and being reunited with those who are still alive families separated by death being reunited friends long lost embracing again it's a scene that goes beyond our IM in ination and the most amazing thing is that we will not just be Spirits
floating around the Bible teaches that we will have resurrected glorified bodies similar to the resurrected body of Jesus in 1 Corinthians 15:42 to 44 Paul describes so will it be with the resurrection of the Dead the body that is sown is perishable it is raised imperishable it is sown in dishonor it is raised in glory it is sown in weakness it is raised in power power it is swn a natural body it is raised a spiritual body this passage is fascinating because it gives us an idea of what our resurrected bodies will be like Paul
uses the analogy of a seed being planted the seed itself looks nothing like the plant that will grow from it similarly our resurrected bodies will be drastically different from our current bodies they will be imperishable meaning they won't age get sick or die they will be glorious ref colleting God's glory in a way that our current bodies cannot they will be powerful free from the limitations and weaknesses we experience now and they will be spiritual perfectly suited for eternal life In God's Presence this doesn't mean we will be Spirits without bodies but that we will
have bodies perfectly suited for Eternal spiritual life think of how Jesus appeared to his disciples after his resurrection he could eat drink and be touched but he could also appear and disappear at will and pass through closed doors this is the kind of body we will have in the resurrection before we continue I would like to ask a special favor please click the like button on this video and leave a comment sharing your experience on this topic now let's talk about the concept of the sleep of death which appears in various parts of the Bible
it's a theme that often causes confusion but it's important to understand
