salt in numbers 18: 19 the Bible says whatever is set aside from the holy offerings the Israelites present to the Lord I give to you and your sons and daughters as your Perpetual share it is an everlasting Covenant of salt before the Lord for both you and your Offspring what is this Covenant of salt why did God choose salt as a symbol of an Everlasting Covenant to understand this we must first recognize the properties of salt salt is a preservative it prevents Decay and Corruption when God established a covenant with salt he was symbolizing a

relationship that would endure a relationship that would not decay a relationship that would last forever it was a covenant of preservation of Eternal promise but this Covenant goes deeper salt in the ancient world was also a symbol of purity of incorruptibility by establishing a covenant of salt God was not only promising preservation but also Purity Holiness and an unbroken connection with his people it was a covenant that spoke of God's unchanging nature his faithfulness and his commitment to his people salt as a symbol of spiritual Purity now let us delve into the New Testament where

Jesus himself speaks of salt in a way that reveals its spiritual significance in Matthew 5:13 Jesus says you are the salt of the earth but if the salt loses its saltiness how can it be made salty again it is is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot here Jesus calls his followers the salt of the earth what does this mean it means that as Christians we are called to be the preservers of spiritual Purity in the world just as salt preserves food from Decay we are called to preserve the

world from moral and spiritual Decay we are called to be agents of purity of Holiness in a world that is often tainted by sin and Corruption but Jesus also warns us if the salt loses its saltiness it is no longer good for anything this is a sobering reminder that our Effectiveness as Christians depends on our spiritual Purity on our ability to maintain the qualities that make us salty in a spiritual sense if we allow ourselves to become tainted by the world if we lose our distinctiveness our Effectiveness as God's agents in the world is diminished

the power of salt in Warfare now I want to take you to a place in the Bible where the power of salt as a weapon is most evident a place where salt was used in a way that was both physical and symbolic a place where the power of God was manifested through the use of salt turn with me to 2 Kings 2: 19-22 In this passage the people of Jericho come to the prophet Elisha with a problem the water in their city is bad and the land is unproductive the people are suffering because of this

and they seek help from the man of God Elisha responds by asking for a new bowl and putting salt in it he then goes to the spring and throws the salt into it declaring this is what the Lord says I have healed this water never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive and the water was healed and it remains pure to this day this is a powerful Moment In the bible where salt is used as an instrument of God's healing and restoration but it's more than just a story about healing water it's

a story about spiritual warfare the city of Jericho had been cursed its water was bad its land was Barren but when the salt was applied when the man of God spoke the word of the Lord the curse was broken the land was healed and life was restored salt in this context was more than a physical substance it was a spiritual weapon it represented the power of God to heal to restore to break curses and to bring life where there was death and my dear brothers and sisters this same power is available to us today when

we walk in the Covenant of salt when we live as the salt of the earth we carry with us the power to bring healing to break curses to restore life and to push back the forces of Darkness the spiritual significance of salt in prayer several people of God have shared a truth that has been a source of power in their own lives a truth that has sustained them in the spiritual battles they have faced a truth that I believe can transform your prayer life it is the power of salt in prayer there is something profound

about the act of using salt in Prayer in the Bible salt is often associated with sacrifice in Leviticus 2:13 God commands that every grain offering be seasoned with salt he says do not leave the salt of the Covenant of your God out of your grain offerings add salt to all your offerings why salt because salt represents purity preservation and the Covenant relationship we have with God when we use salt in prayer we are symbolically invoking the power of God's covenant his promise to preserve us to keep us pure and to fight on our behalf in

your own life you can experience the power of this truth there are times when the battles is fierce when the enemy is Relentless when the darkness seemed overwhelming in those moments you could take salt and and as you pray sprinkle it declaring the promises of God declaring the victory of Christ declaring the power of the Covenant and time and time again you will see God move in miraculous ways I share this with you not as a ritual but as a reminder of the power of symbols in our faith salt is not magical but it is

a reminder a physical representation of the spiritual truths that we stand on the power is not in the salt but it's the faith it inspires in our covenant with Jesus Christ just as the cross represents power in a symbolic way so is salt none of these things should be idolized rather they should only be used as point of contct and reminder of the solemnity of our Covenant of Grace With Jesus when we pray with salt we are declaring that we stand in the Covenant of God that we are the salt of the earth and that
