Video Transcript:
the odds were stacked against me I won anyway because I win you won because you got lucky guys like you always think other people get lucky I don't get lucky I make my own luck and in this case it's bleeding you dry everybody when I when I was sleeping on the gym floor right like you know I was the I was the underdog and everyone you know my clients were all like oh good for you you know you're going after your dream and they'd see my blanket and my pillow in the corner of the gym
and they knew I was sleep in there and it was evident you know I lived there I didn't have a shower didn't have a shower the YMC had to go shower that everybody was like Pro me and the people would come in they sign up like I'm going to I'm going to support you right and then within 9 months I had hired people and I had a manager and I pulled up and I remember I walked in the lobby and all the same the same people were like ah boss man's here oh you're you're not
too good for us now right and I remember being so Jarred by the experience and I was like you guys rooted for me and I was like and now I I did what you said you were rooting for me to do and that was when I realized that people want you to do well but not better than them the one thing that made me who I am today is being vulnerable is breaking myself down to the absolute rock bottom and being able to tell people who I am and that's how I fixed it literally you
know life created this person me life life created me to be this person that I was back in the day and I had to realize man that's okay man it's not my fault now I got to go back and fix this though mhm so a lot of this isn't your fault why you do some things you do why you feel the way you feel but no one's coming back to save your ass you have to go back to where the started wherever that place is for everybody and have the courage to go back there and
start fixing what broke you mhm I take one of the strongest mental frames that has got me through my hardest times is thinking this will be the story that I will one day tell and that means the harder it is the bigger the dragon the more epic the story and by Consequence the more epic the hero and if you think about the difference between winners and losers winners Define themselves by what they made happen and losers Define themselves by what happened to them and the difficult part of the Lonely chapter is that the rocky cut
scene lasts 90 seconds in the movie and lasts 5 years in reality that's what's painful is that it takes more effort to start in the beginning and more people are right about the fact they're like hey you're not going to hit it big and guess what a month in you're not but they're only measuring on months and at 6 months you're also not going to have hit it big yet and they're going to be like I'm still right and at a year you're still not going to hit it big and they'll still be right and
every day that you haven't hit it they're going to feel like they were right but they're wrong because they're measuring in days and you're measuring in decades why do you do it why why get up why keep fighting you must be able to see it Mr Anderson you must know it by now you can't win it's pointless to keep [Music] fighting why Mr Anderson why why do you persist cuz I choose [Music] to the energy it requires to start doing something is way more than the energy required to continue doing the thing and the beginning
of doing anything results in the lowest amount of reward both internal and external than when you've been doing it for ages every single person who wants to do something with their life and has done something with their life has gone through the exact chapter that you're going through and it's the lonely chapter it's the chapter where you you're you don't fit in with your own friends but you don't have the outcomes yet to fit into a new group of friends and you're doing this thing you're consuming content on the internet you're you're doing these free
tutorials online to try and figure out how to set up a podcast and where do I host this thing and then there and and and you're going through this and you're like am I is this even worth it because you have no signs of success right but if there's anything that you can take away from what we're saying right now is that the sign of success is the hate that you get along the way and what you can't do is bend the knee to their hate and fit back into the Conformity because it's comfortable and
it's warm because like in The Matrix when Trinity opens the door when when Neo's about to go take the red pill and he wants to get out of the car she says Neo you've been down that road and you know exactly where it leads and I know that's not where you want to be and then he closes the door like right now this moment that you're going through is Trinity opening the door and being like you could go back but then you'd have to remember exactly what the reason was that you decided not to go
out to begin with because you listen to this podcast and you consume this content you're like I can can do more than this like because you are starting to live in some of that Howell where you look in the mirror and you're like I can do more and you start to see the person that you could be and you're like this does start to feel like hell but you know happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light to on my life I wanted to be
accepted growing up I lied I [ __ ] what I could be my friend be my buddy that weak ass I found out through this path of Life who is David gokin who am I to going through all I did it alone there was no trophy on the wall on the mantle that trophy is in my brain no one helped me get there no one paid my bills no one did me no one ran those miles lost that weight went through I suffered on my own and developed this man who said that's who I am
man a very competitive ultra competitive dude that take it what you want man man you start putting yourself in situations that suck you'll find yourself there's a thousand ways to say this but listen cuz I'm only going to say it once I fought for it because no one gave it to me because I it was just me me alone in the gym me alone in the mirror me alone in my head no one did it for me I worked for it and I'm never going to let someone else take that from me many people want
to be exceptional but they're afraid of being an exception I think it's such a it's it's wanting it's wanting an outcome without the requirement that the outcome has and so we can't do the same thing that everyone else approves of and then somehow get a different outcome that everyone else does if you have a belief and you can't explain why you believe it it's not yours it's someone else's the biggest thing you have to do is shut off technology you have to go dark what I mean by that is you have to be quiet in
your mind get away from people we love being around people we love talking we love we love parties it's okay to be alone it's okay to be unhappy sometimes man so you got to go to the truth first who are you get get really accountable and say okay who am I what's the truth about me get to that dark place in your mind figure out it may take months may take years figure out your purpose figure out what you want to be be in life and then from there okay I have my purpose it may
take a long time no one knows their purpose cuz it's too loud you going to leave as people be or you the one that's going to find yourself a new plug you don't mean that the I don't I built this [ __ ] me Brick by Brick and I'll be damned if I let you tear it down just cuz you don't like the way another talk the superpower of learning to be alone and enjoying it well I think it's critical and I and I do think that this the these times where you just think about
things just be alone and think about things are so rare these days and I think during those rare times is when you really get to understand what you actually believe or don't believe admit it you aren't like them you're not even close so I came with this idea a couple of weeks called The Lonely chapter love it so there is a period in everybody's Journey where they are so different because they've started to do new things that they no longer fit in with the old set of friends but they're not sufficiently developed that they've gained
their new set of friends and they're unsure should I go back should I lean back into getting a bag in with the boys on a weekend is that the highest you know way that I can live my life passion forward CU that's what everybody else does and all of my friends are taking the piss oh not drinking again too good for us are we not going out again this week oh okay well like enjoy staying in home and reading nerd so you're going to feel the pain of being ostracized from the group of friends that
you used to have but you're stuck in this messy Middle where you haven't yet worked out who you are on the other side of this and that lonely chapter that's in the middle is something that I I would say almost nobody that I've ever met who has gone from a place where they are to a place where they want to be hasn't gone through most people walk around paring other people's words for the vast majority of their lives and so they basically act as recorders where they clicked record at at one part of their life
and then they clicked play in another time of their life and they're just clicking record play record play record play over and over again and it makes sense that people feel alone and they feel like they're acting because they never say what they think and as a result they also sound like everyone else because they were never themselves to begin with I just want more I just want more I just want to be successful and I want to be able to take care of the people that I love and I want to be able to
you know be be a service the goal like you don't want to be comfortable I feel like as a man if you're comfortable that's a bad sign no man should ever be comfortable I think the problem is people don't really value life like I wake up it's a blessing to be like every time I pray I I be like thank you God for another day of life thank you God for another chance to get it right you know people died today and that's a sign of favor I don't think people understand like when you wake
up you're [Music] favor if I can just walk one more mile after being in the worst shape of my entire life this would change everything for me mentally going forward from this kid who came from dirt nothing who couldn't read until he was in a junior in high school and is now here I went I walked a mile I said hm maybe I can walk one more mile maybe I can walk another mile at Mile 81 my exwife looked at me and says you're not going to make the time when your mind knows it's not
going to quit and this is what I found out this is my 40% rule when your mind knows it's not going to quit your body will adapt to whatever is in front of it I end up running 20 more miles I did 101 miles in 19 hours and 6 minutes and that one day change that one 19 hours it wasn't Seal training it wasn't Ranger school it wasn't Delta Force it was any that crap I went through it was this 19 hours and 6 minutes that forever changed my life to know that we as human
beings are capable of anything and we don't need any special kind of parents or tools to get there so I end you with this don't stop when you're tired stop when you're done thank you very much no one is patient and for you to lose weight for you to stop drink if you whatever the hell you're going through it takes a lot of patience a lot of time and a lot of pitfalls a lot of plateaus you're going to hit so many plateaus if you don't know how to get around that Plateau it's not going
to happen fast like everyone else you want to learn the way to win but never to accept the way to lose to accept defeat to learn to die is to be liberated from it so when tomorrow comes you must free your ambitious mind and love learn the art of dying every hardship that you encounter if you reframe it as the story that you will someday tell to yourself of the person that you've become based on the dragons you've slain and the obstacles you've overcome then I think that makes those obstacles a unique opportunity for self-improvement
because we can be grateful for these things I think um I think Joo has a has a whole on this where whenever something bad happens he says good and I think it's a great trained response because if something bad happens my train response isn't good it's I will tell the story someday and so I think if you have that frame then everything serves you cuz if something good happens cool if something bad happens it'll be a story that I will someday tell because it assumes that you will live through it and it assumes that you
will eventually figure it out and so then you can't lose as long as you don't quit is if right now whoever is listening to this if you wrote a book right now about your life and you gave it to someone would it change their life for the better if not you got get to work what I would tell people right now is this there's a process to all this stuff man the process starts with you got to shut off technology you got to go here so go to that dark place I call it the dark
room where you're alone no cell phones no music no TVs no computers you by yourself very few people want to be alone anymore they want to be around noise and people and they have to you can't think be alone go to that dark space in that dark space but the first advice I would give people man is shut life off for a little bit go to a dark place in your mind and figure out what the you want to be you don't know what you want to be because you haven't spent time Real Time with
yourself and once you find that passion and that purpose your goals your purpose everything will just start lining up the one companion that's always going to be with you is yourself and I think the first thing you have to do I think the first thing we have to do is we have to get ourselves to the point where we don't necessarily need a companion it's not ideal it's not ideal but it's doable and sometimes it beats the alternative and but sometimes we choose less than ideal companions because to us that beats the alternative of not
having any companion and the reason why we cannot face the concept of not having any companion is because we're not comfortable with ourself as a companion idea of the Lonely chapter resonates so much with people because it it literally is like taking the red pill if you see this version of the world where you go I can impact my outcomes I can learn a thing apply a thing and then I change as a byproduct of doing that as soon as you take those steps you realize almost all of the people around you who have parts
of their life that they're not happy about are kind of making a choice for it to be that way and then you go oh that means that all of the things I don't like about me and I don't like about my life are my responsibility because I can change it so forgive me but you know if you're going to create anything of value in this life you're going to even if it's with other people you're going to have to be willing to to be on your own for a bit to forage on your own to
take walks alone and then return to people to your tribe so to speak and share with them what you've learned or maybe even just show up with whatever energy shift has occurred while you were off if you had to create a human what would you put them through to make them tough it probably wouldn't be a really chill life what would you put them through to make them patient you probably wouldn't give them things immediately and so it's like we want these traits but each of the traits has a price tag attached to it it's
just like do you want to pay the price tag to get the thing and so I think if if people reframed the the period of life that they're going through as the price that they're paying out of their wallet but the wallet is their time it's the seconds of life that they're trading for it then I think more people will be willing to make the trade because at least when I look at myself like when I'm 80 something years old and I'm looking back on my life I want to had these traits but in order
to have those traits I know I have to go through these things and I think for me that's given me a lot of comfort in hard times we will not Bend we will not break we will not yield we will never give in we will never give up up and we will never back down we will never ever surrender you know when you're when you're built different than everybody else and you have this desire for more and this desire for achievement and this desire to win everybody else looks at you like like you're fued up
and they'll tell you that too you know what the is wrong with you like why can't you just relax why can't you just do this why can't because I'm I'm just not built that way man and it's sort of embracing the fact that this provides a lot of good but there's a lot of there's a lot of things that make that you have to deal with that that come that aren't so good and at that time at Mile 81 something clicked that I'll never probably be able to do it again when My Mind Body Spirit
Soul everything just connected and my mind knew I wasn't [ __ ] around anymore it knew I wasn't going to quit and knew that guy was dead and buried and gone and I was going to die out here on this well out for for whatever reason why I was going to get through this mother I didn't give a damn it made no there there was no crowds there was no at the end there was I wasn't even in a race in my mind there was it was nothing and it was me against me and I
used all these different Dark Places to start bringing out light and just going deeper and deeper and so if someone says you're not like everyone else then you can just reframe that as like I am exceptional and that's not a bad thing there's a teacher and he's got two classes that he teaches and one class he says the only assignment for this whole semester is that you come with a come back with a perfect uh clay pot that's it that's the assignment the other class he says your objective is to make the most total quantity
of clay pots and you'll be measured by how many pots you make and at the end of the quarter the pots that came from the team that had to just make sheer volume not only did they make more pots but the quality of all of their pots was better compared to the teams that only had to make one and it just underlines the the biggest lesson that I've learned in my life which is that volume negates luck is that you can try to be lucky and pick the one perfect thing and try and make it
but if you don't want to try and be lucky you can just do so much work that you will you will brute force your way to figuring it out like if you do a th000 podcasts you'll be pretty good at podcasts right but if you try to say okay you're you're you're brand new and all you have to do is make one perfect podcast the problem is that you don't have the perspective from which to make a judgment to say what is good never ever give up don't give up don't allow it to happen if
there's a concrete wall in front of you go through it go over it go around but get to the other side of that wall most people are overweight they're distracted they're poor they have so few skills because it has never been easier to start a business to make money to get in shape it's just also never been easier to do nothing you really can solve a lot of problems by getting in shape and making money you still have problems they're just smaller and you have more resources to handle them the world is there for the
taking for anyone who can learn from their mistakes do what they say they were going to do and stick with it even if it's not sexy what used to make a man acceptable now makes you extraordinary the bar for winning has never been so low who am I to going through all I did it alone there was no trophy on the wall the mantle that tropies in my [ __ ] brain most people's definition of work is a negative one which is why they abhor it which is also why they misunderstand so many people who
quote I'll say quote here are successful ahead of them or whatever is that both people one person says the word work and the other person hears the word pain and so the first step to like becoming more successful is understanding the language that the people who are successful are using they're actually defining the word differently and so whatever that thing is you actually enjoy doing where you lose track of time when you're in it even if it's challenging but usually it is challenging right like it's not easy cuz then it's boring right which is also
why the uncertainty thing is so key right to not knowing if it's going to if it's going to work or not you are going to work though either way um is that the people who are quote addicted to work make it easy to be addicted to work because they do things worth doing and I think a lot of it is coming down to making sure that you take the few precious seconds that we have to do the few things that are worth doing for the rest of your life the more time you spend alone with
yourself the more time that you will be able to understand who you are when I mean understand who you are I'm talking about without any outside interference without any friends without any uh peer pressure of wanting to be like someone else the more time you spend alone you're going to figure out okay what your purpose is and I say that because of this God will talk to you uh you start seeking in those moments of not having any outside distractions what happens is Things become clear clearity set it and you're able to make decisions not
based on what you saw that day or what you heard that day or what that person may have said to you able to make decisions based on how you feel internally everybody wants to hack there is no hack man there's no hack what do you think is the biggest stumbling block that most people face with this kind of Journey honestly is they have the wo is me mentality it's too hard life isn't fair these things in life are are are not easy for me you you you look to your left you look to your right
and you start to judge yourself off other people like if you're a female well she's skinny and she doesn't work out as hard as I do and everything starts to corrupt your mind you start to look around too much at other people what they're doing and that starts to corrupt your own dialogue we are judging ourselves against too many people you have to judge yourself against yourself and that's the one thing I started learning man this is the race against me and Rich Ro this race against David Goggins and David Goggins alone and once you
can silence all that [ __ ] all the outside interference and things that are attracting your mind to everything you can then start to grow there's a quote from Jason pgan that says accept that all of your heroes are full of your Heroes aren't Gods they're just regular people who probably got good at One Thing by neglecting literally everything else it won't get harder like this is the hardest part and so if you can just make it through this everything else is downhill it's not that the things that the dragons you're going to slay aren't
going to get bigger they are but you become so much more equipped to slay them back and you have so many more allies you have people in the stands cheering for you you have the audience you have all of these other things that are behind you but in the beginning it's just you with a stick against a bear and arguably that fight is a harder fight to win than beating a dragon when you have a nuclear bomb and Six Nations behind you and so it's not even like the the size of the hardship it's just
also the resources and how few of them you have and how so much of the beginning is literally burning the one thing you have which is time because you have no leverage you don't have the money to pay other people to help you you don't have the resources to go like get someone to to you no one can learn it for you it's like there's a lot of the things that that we care about a lot like no one can work out for you doesn't matter how much money you have no one can learn skills
for you and so in the early days like it feels so painful cuz you're like you look around to see who can help you and then you're like it's me again that whenever I'm down I'm like oh hang on [ __ ] oh you know you know the truth you know the truth you know the darkness of the Dungeons and the demons that fly you know and then from there it's like okay you were there you know this there was no one there to pick up the ruck sack to pick up the boat to pick
up the log to go in that it was you it was you there was no P to back at 300 at at 275 at 250 and 220 no that was you people are looking for that pound back where is it oh I don't need it because what I've done is in the fuing Unseen work so whenever gets nasty David gogus Goes you had nobody anyway mother look around you there was no team it was you there was no weight loss program or Mom and Dad waking you up saying you can do it you can be
better trying to build belief you built belief when you had nothing Rock Bottom the what if mentality is a mentality of a lot of us in this world have people who say we cannot do something you can't do it you're too short you look a certain way you act a certain way you're not smart enough I hit that road block every time I was 300 lb I never forget I was 300 lb I went from 175 to 300 lb and my goal was to be a Navy SEAL impossible goal and every Navy recruiter that saw
me said that besides one every recruiter said there's no way man you're 297 lbs and you got to lose so much weight so fast I talked to one recruiter and never get getting back in my truck and he said you cannot do this but I got in my truck and I said to myself but what if I could what if I could pull off this miracle How Will I I feel at the very end if I can defy all the odds the wh if mentality is this guy told me I was a 36 African-American Navy
Seal in Navy SEAL history in over 70 years this guy told me there's only 35 African-Americans to ever be a Navy SEAL he's pretty much telling me you ain't got what it takes I took that and said what if I can be the 36th versus taking what he said all the negativity he's putting on me because he can't he can't imagine himself doing what I'm about to do so most people who can't imagine it they they reflect it's like a mirror they put that right on you if they can't see themselves doing it I can't
see you doing it I take that mirror and I totally discard it and I say what if I can be the 36th person to ever do it so I use all their negativity as positivity and fuel to get me to where I need to go the stoic response resp to hate is to agree and one up sometimes in life when everything's going great for you and you don't know good from bad you need to experience a little rain sometimes so you can enjoy the sunshine again you don't want it and that's the harsh reality I
can't give you [ __ ] you can't give them [ __ ] and give you ideas but in the day when I was losing the weight I had to miserably wake up every morning in the cold cuz it was Indiana November when it started I was miserable this is your new life take it or leave it and the only thing I won was being alone and they think you the whole life you think oh I I'll just keep judging and keeping people at a distance but guess what there's this there's this there's this thing in
the distance making you think oh you that that you win somehow that or that I win somehow by doing that I'm not saying you I'm saying me but then I get to the end of my life and I'll realize you know what I didn't win anything by doing that that was a that was a trick you know I want to be able to be as loving as I can and I know that sometimes I have to examine relationships in my [Music] life to see where I have Hang-Ups time alone again will make you see who
you are and the third thing it lets you see what will fit you what's suitable for your life where is your sweet spot what works for you what are we optimizing for what problem are we solving it's my f it's probably the number one most frequently Asked question that I ask to our portfolio companies whenever we're about to do anything which is what problem are we solving if the problem that we're solving is that I want to be content well there's a lot of ways to do that you don't need to do all these other
things if the problem you're solving is that you want to be the richest man in the world well you're going to have to have a lot of spirity complex you're going have a lot of crippling insecurity and you're going to have a lot of impulse control and you're have to wait a long time stop trying to get rich get better and if you get better getting rich will happen as a consequence getting rich is an outcome getting better is an input Warren Buffett said that the difference between really successful people and the most successful people
is that the most successful people say no to almost everything and I've tried to take that because it's so hard and I think that a lot of the you know it's so simple and so hard which a lot of success habits are which is like if you do the same thing for a very long period of time he said success comes down to doing the obvious thing for an extraordinary period of time without convincing yourself you're smarter than you are I'm astounded by how many people want to be spectacular in life but also want to
be normal by being normal You Are by definition aiming for average normal people get normal results exceptional people get exceptional results you literally can't do what everyone else does and expect to not get what everyone else has got by doing what everyone else does you guarantee average results CU I know every mother ain't going to do what I'm going to do so this is how you level up I know there's a whole bunch of people that have the ability and just refuse to get off that couch refuse to study a few more hours refuse to
go deeper to go further and that's where I gain the advantage this is a video I'm making for the young man who who's struggling and said he was sick and tired of being poor and didn't know how to get out you're going to need to assume that luck isn't real or that it applies to everyone else but you because the only way you're going to get out of your surroundings is by having something of value that other people want and right now the only thing you have is your time with low skills to trade which
is a hard game to play you have to trade a lot of it only to get a little one of the most important things never ever quit never quit but I've watched some of the people grow I've watched some of the most incredible brilliant students and they didn't make it like other people made it because they didn't have that drive they didn't have that never give up uh ability how I'm able to just extract dopamine the good dopamine whenever I want man I've trained 90 99% of my life alone no one packed me on the
back I did all of the work alone and while I'm still hard on myself I know what I did so whenever times get bad for me people all this who's going to carry the boats and that's real I hate that people know me for that guy cuz that guy is not every day like when they see me they want that energy that's not me every day I can extract it immediately when I need to because when you train alone and I lived alone for so many years in this misery and you're able to get out
of it by yourself I can take myself to such a level of real real passion and purpose and like the feeling I get is something I can't even exp by I don't need anyone that's why that's why people come to me to motivate them no one can motivate me the bottom line is no one's coming no one no one's coming to push you no one's coming to tell you to turn the TV off no one's coming to tell you to get out the door and exercise nobody's coming to tell you to apply for that job
that you've always dreamt about nobody's coming to write the business plan for you it's up to you and because you're only ever going to do the things that you feel like doing right now or that feel good right now unless you understand understand that you've got to parent yourself you got to push yourself you're not going to make your dreams come true you're just not we're not wired that way you weren't born that way you weren't that way when you were growing up and you're certainly not that way as an adult it's so easy to
be great nowadays my friend cuz most people are weak most people don't want to go to that extra mile most people don't want to find that extra CU it sucks it's miserable it's lonely that's the only place to be you you always have to be the person who roots for you before everyone else does and it's usually a single clap in the auditorium for a very long period of time it is a slow clap that's just you rooting for you um and that visual I think is one that you can kind of take because it
[Music] is people struggle to do things alone and the path of the exceptional person is one of an exception which means that you are not with other people and rather than fighting that or bemoaning it see it as an indicator that you're on the right path because if everyone else were cheering you on then it means you're not in the right place because it means you're just like everyone else and that's not where you want to be so whenever gets nasty David goas Goes you had nobody anyway mother so see I'm talking myself right now
that's me that's fires me to up that sh makes me [ __ ] nuts you had nobody anyway mother look around you there is noing team it was you there was no weight loss program or Mom and Dad waking you up saying you can do it you can be better trying to build belief you built belief when you had nothing Rock Bottom if if life is a long journey of self-acceptance I think that earlier you can accept your own peculiarities as just part of you rather than trying to justify them or mold to what you
to the archetype that you think is acceptable within your Social Circle um at least for me like there's this period of discomfort when you change anything cuz everyone around you wants you to fit within the label that they are comfortable with but they also have the anchor of what you were before yeah exactly and so they try and like they they people don't like that and so they're like no no I like you in this box so just say I I know you're having a little thing right now don't worry just just and they just
want to shove you back into it and there's there's a lot of uncomfortable conversations that you have to have where it becomes really socially awkward and so all of a sudden you're sitting there and you're thinking man I thought my life was together now it's in shambles at my feet no it's not no it's not it's not it's all right it's all right you're not supposed to have it together all right those who go to college get out of college get a job and stay in that job until they retire then retire and buy property
down in Flor that's an anomaly that's not normal it happens but it's an anomaly uh and uh and most those people you know they might be really good people but they ain't got cool stories to tell and you don't get wisdom you don't get wisdom past a certain point by living that life so now you know why there's so many people that fail in this world you create your own self most people are missing something because there's so much trapped in there I I want to say potential I think that's word used out too much
too there's so much in you that God or wherever the hell you believe in or if you're atheist in you that you have not un unlocked that you walk around with this gorgeous wife or or great husband all this money like God I feel like I'm missing something yeah because it's about 75% of you is stilling in there still chained up because you just didn't want to find your willpower didn't want to find your soul your will your heart your determination your guts your courage who cares let it go and when you're young that is
so hard because you really don't know who you are yet and you don't usually have the the mature self-confidence to to be strong enough to to believe that you are unique and you are special but don't don't worry what other people think be unique be memorable be confident be proud but mainly be you oft times if it doesn't go our way we don't see it as a blessing right if something happens and experience if it doesn't go the way we want it to go often times we don't consider that to be a blessing but some
of the greatest blessings in our lives are things that didn't turn out or work out the way that we wanted it to you're not supposed to have it all together you're not expected to have it all together anybody looks at you and says hey man what's wrong with you how come you don't have everything figured out they're a fool um knowledge and experience and wisdom takes time wisdom comes from experience and experience takes time the more experience you have the more you learn from that experience the wiser you can get if you haven't lived long
enough to have a broad enough portfolio of experience then you can't expect to have knowledge and wisdom if you haven't gotten what you want then you're not worthy of it period and that's okay now you can admit that you suck and improve better to know your bad for a season than pretend you're good for a lifetime you're not making as much money as you want because you're not as good as you think you are you're not struggling from imposter syndrome you're a student and pretending to be a teacher no students say they feel like frauds
for trying to learn you're a fraud when you get up to teach the class and you've never done [Music] it I think it's just giving yourself permission to suck it's giving yourself permission to be unhappy it's giving yourself permission to not achieve while you do for a long period of time it's giving yourself permission to lose friends it's giving yourself permission to do things that's different than people in your Social Circle or your age group are doing it's giving you permission giving yourself permission to be an exception so that you can become exceptional and once
you peel the cross you know you know peel that crust away and see who you really are you open your mind to a whole another world so I've opened my mind up to a whole another world that most people can't even fathom because they haven't dug deep into their own personal problems so they think people think I'm crazy because I found a whole another way of living I think they're crazy for never even trying to get to the other side of whatever's in front of them when I wake up every day there's only one voice
I have to listen to and so then it's like just do it for me what drives me today is being my my best and being my best is a never ending Journey a lot of people call me obsessed that's fine I probably am obsessed when you finally realize like for me that humble beginning I had when you realize that I could have literally given up and right now at 43 I could still be a 300 lb man spraying for cockroaches it's truly amazing that a lot of us walk this planet Earth being a fraction of
what we're capable of being I look back when I was 24 years old and that could have been my 100% if I chose to take the path of least resistance that could have been 100% never knowing that in that 300 pound body the kid who couldn't read all this other stuff forg read level is now a person that's been through almost every special ops train in the world has broke several records and has continued to grow once you realize what's on the other side of that that will keep you I'm the most driven person in
the world because I realized that I was leaving so much on the table I was leaving so much on the table never knowing that inside that fat guy was this person here you be that warrior in that garden and you stand strong you be a strong man you be a good man and you just let the world rage around you that most men live lives of quiet desperation it's one of my favorite quotes ever because it's true and I've been that guy you're just in this world where you just can't wait to just run away
but the only way I could be this person now is if I took that chance when I was 21 when I was dead broke and had my cars repossessed and all that stuff that's the only way you ever get where you want to go you have to you have to take a path that's dangerous and most people want to take the safe path the safe path leaves you stuck in quiet desperation almost every time it's hell your family is looking for that one guy right now they're looking for that one guy who's strong who's that
pillar for the family in hard times make sure when they look around they look around and find you these are the times right now for you to step up be that guy that can take anything reminder that if you want to be exceptional you're going to be different from everyone else that's What Makes You exceptional you can't fit in and also be exceptional both have discomfort when you fit in you have internal conflict because you're not being 100% you when you're exceptional you have external conflict because everyone sees you as different pick one when your
friends start to say you've changed remember it's because they don't know how to say you grown you see that look right there don't ever let a man see you like [Music] that cuz you give him the power over you if you got to take a l you take it with your head up chest out like a man everything was done to try to learn how to become a better basketball player everything everything you know we have a million and one excuses that we could go to fact of the matter is we're not going to make
any uh they played better than we did in the series we had an opportunities wi it then go for us uh you know so have to regroup like I said next season starts right now and uh you know come back next season what how much harder will you work in this offseason now to get back to the championship I'll push myself to exhaustion and so when you have that point of view then literally the world becomes your library to help you to become better at your craft out the 100 men that go into war tend
shouldn't even be there 80 of them are just targets 10 do most of or nine do most of fighting one is a warrior and it's a true quote to life I saw it going through train I saw it everywhere I went there's so many people who just show up to life that shouldn't even be around and there's few people do all the work I wanted to be part of that nine and I'm working towards being that one if you had to create a human what would you put them through to make them tough it probably
wouldn't be a really chill life yeah what would you put them through to make them patient we probably wouldn't give them things immediately and so it's like we want these traits but each of the traits has a price tag attached to it and it's just like do you want to pay the price tag to get the thing and so I think if if people reframe the the period of life that they're going through as the price that they're paying out of their wallet but the wallet is their time is the seconds of life that they're
trading for it then I think more people will be willing to make the trade because at least when I look at myself like when I'm 80 something years old and I'm looking back on my life I want to have these traits but in order to have those traits I know I have to go through these things and I think for me that's giving me a lot of comfort in hard times you are a man stand up and be a man make the hard decisions make the sacrifices make the unpopular decis decisions and become comfortable in
your own skin and if you are not a person that you are comfortable being alone with that is the one person in this universe that you have full power full right and full responsibility to change it's the moments in life the decisions you make on a on on a moment to moment basis that add up to be the guy or not the guy tonight I did something you know that feel more of a guy for me who I am my guy your pride and your ego has been killing your career growth your could be on
another level you know better but you're deciding to not do better you are a lazy unprofessional mean attitude having And yet when things are not happening good for you when things are not coming your way when things are not happening as fast as you want them to happen you blame everybody else and what they're doing and saying and you completely disown everything that you're doing to contribute to your career not going to another level you know better but you don't want to do better my personal goal is to squeeze every ounce of potential out of
whatever I have and I think that if you feel like you have potential left over then it will eat you alive until you do something about it winners always show up they're willing to lose in order to gain big mental thing there guys this body is great as you are as sharp as you make the Arsenal it can't do anything if you don't have confidence in yourself We All Fall Down in life the question is who gets back up you go after and you give it all you have if you lose at least you try
man I failed it's 10 times more of a man than someone said what if cuz what if never went to the arena when you guys find a fear that fear will either create you or destroy you I love fear and the reason why behind every fear is the person you want to be fear is self-imposed meaning it doesn't exist you create it you can destroy it too it's an intangible if you face your fears guys you'll realize it's not that big and once you face it you my God Man spent all this time running from
it it was so small if I just faced it my God not only did I face it I beat it back energy is never lost transferred that negative energy that fear is destroyed it comes back in his confidence like what else am I what else am I capable of what else am I holding my back from that I'm capable of more where am I running from I don't need to what else can I overcome you face your fears you become the person you want to be you run from your fears you're not living you're alive
it's easy to give up easy it's easiest thing in the world to do all I'm I'm done I ain't going I ain't going to keep going I don't feel like going to work it's easy it's very easy but was hard is going yo yesterday I got nothing from working as hard as I could nothing happened from that I'm going to do the same thing again to day but I'm going to try to go harder that's the hardest thing in the world to get up every day and give 100% And and be in the same position
that you were each day but mentally know that you're trying and trying and trying that's that's a real that's a real grind that's not normal cuz we don't want to be normal normality is what weak people call living I call it death or break up any type of normality that you might fix in your head also push you past what you currently thought you could do giving you confidence and you know what I'm selling myself too short I'm capable of more I just saw something happen there I I like that taste I want some more
that tast you hung for success is the only Revenge as you expand they shrink into irrelevance as you get louder no one can hear them you don't beat them you cast a shadow so big no one can see them to begin with when people copy they copy the wrong stuff because they don't know why it worked to begin with and when it breaks they don't know how to fix it because they didn't build it so don't sweat it copycats will always be behind everything everything that you do counts the biggest mistake that people make is
they think that only what they want to count counts no when you read a book when you listen to an audio program when you go to a course when you go to bed early and get up early and work it all counts if you haven't gotten what you want then you're not worthy of it period and that's okay now you can admit that you suck and improve better to know you're bad for a season than pretend you're good for a lifetime you're not making as much money as you want because you're not as good as
you think you are you're a student and pretending to be a teacher no students say they feel like frauds of trying to learn you're a fraud when you get up to teach the class and you've never done it you know that comes a day man everyone's going to have this day it comes a day where being average being mediocre is just sickening to you it's just sicking it makes you want to throw up because you've seen people with far less account than you as you growing up with them they childhood buddies whatever else they didn't
have what you had yet now they're going to become something that you haven't there comes that day it's either when you're young you know and and it strikes you on the baseball field cuz you're sick of striking out or it's it's when you get fired from your fifth job you know when your wife and kids are on your ass cuz you don't know how to support you anymore there comes aing day where push comes to shelf well being mediocre being like average and just burns sucks so much you can't deal with it one more day
and you get off youring ass and you create something that's always been there it's always been inside of you trying to come out but you've never wanted to unwrap it cuz there's too much pain and commitment you were scared you're going to fail you were scared if you started you never finish it you didn't want to tell anyone about it you knew it was there but you never wanted to embark on it until something hits you get fire or somebody get success remind you what you could have been and then the spark is born and
no matter what happens I'm never going to be in this boat again and you get up and you go even gets knocked in you just keep going keep going you're a wild man and life has never been so sweet that can happen at an early age it can happen at a later age it's going to happen to somebody every you know no matter what it's going to happen to you and when it does happen to you think you're lucky stars that finally you're alive it's time to unwrap the potential you can be superior man it's
within you it's within every single one of us and the people that have that have have risen to that level were no different than any one of us it say they believed it and they're willing to work their ass off to get it it's time to stay focused it's time to decide clubs partying trying to fit in and socialize rub elbow with everybody so people can stop calling you weird we don't want to be left alone by oursel with oursel so we come in and we sit down and we get on our phone or we
turn on the TV or or we go wherever we do whatever because we don't want to face the reality of being by ourself with ourself start making yourself a companion that you're comfortable with if you had a friend if you had a person you want to sit down spend all the time with what would you want from that person what would you want well I would want to spend time with somebody who's honest makes sense I don't want to spend time with somebody who's going to be lying to me all the time someone who's going
to gently tell me the truth about myself you got to face the reality of who you are you got to face the reality of what you are all right and uh and nobody's going to tell you that like you yourself will tell you that you're going to lose sleep you'll doubt whether it'll work you'll stress to make ends meet you won't finish your to-do list you'll wonder whether you made the right call and have no way to know for yours this is what hard feels like and that's okay everything worth doing is hard and the
more worth doing it is the harder it is the greater the payoff the greater into the hardship if it's hard good it means no one else will do it more for you this is all about the quitty mind so what's the quitty mind so let's say it's day one of a job interview we all know what that feels like you have your clothes laid out you got your food ready to go in the morning you've been preparing for weeks and weeks and weeks you show up and you bring your best self [Music] you get the
job Merry Christmas all right after a couple months you start showing up to work a little later you don't look as good your clothes aren't laid out your breakfast isn't ready your mind's getting softer we do that everything in life when New Year's coming up guess what don't have a critty mind repetition every day stay hard how bad do you want this if this as bad as you want to live or breathe or sleep whatever the hell it may be I can work with you but a lot of people most people don't want it that
badly which why they always ask the question how you get to where you are you know how to do it you know exactly how to be you or how to be me you don't want to do it so I can't make you do it nor do I have the time or energy to force you into that place that I know you have to be to do it there's no luck in this game there may be a little bit of luck but the luck happens after you bust your ass and you put yourself in that lucky
situation luck doesn't happen you put yourself in that situation where luck might happen if you haven't gotten what you want then you're not worthy of it period and that's okay now you can admit that you suck and improveed better to know you're bad for a season than pretend you're good for a lifetime you're not making as much much money as you want because you're not as good as you think you are you're being to yourself man not getting out there and squeezing that soul out every day if you grind hard I got time to wor
about your monkey I iin got time to wor about you man cuz tomorrow I got to go back to the grind and tomorrow I go back to the Grind again and again and again and again I don't have time to put you into the hate bank there's no hate it's all filtered out man through the grind people don't get it there's there's great joy in the grind great joy to suffer it totally cleanses your body out man of any kind of hate makes you grow up you're not running the day the day is running you
you always be the Der not the master guys if you find a fear the quickest and easiest way you can beat it is initially right when it comes in if you allow it to sit they will grow roots and start breaking you down destroying the potential that person you can be again the Champions guys it's not their potential it's not their genetics it's their perseverance always show up always willing to fail cuz then failure that's part of success success is not you know a marathon of life that just UPS success is formulated through failures
