so what is the fastest way to get 1,000 subscribers on YouTube in 2024 in this session I'm going to be sharing with you five strategic tips we're going to be covering some new updates for YouTube in 2024 and I want you to imagine this imagine getting a th000 subscribers in 14 days or less one of our students did just that and I'm going to be sharing some insights from his story and so much more in this session and here's what's cool the strategy we're talking about actually can be done with without any Fancy video editing
without any Michael Jordan levels of talent like even if you're just getting started or you don't really have much experience if you don't have any fancy gear um then this is for you so whether you want to revive your Channel or start a brand new channel we're going to be talking about how to get 1,000 YouTube subscribers fast using What's called the asq method and if we are just meeting I have grown a couple different channels three silver play buttons now gold play button and so I have some experience and I've learned a lot of
things but I've also noticed some things on YouTube have been changing and we want to talk about that I'm also the author of uh YouTube Secrets a book I wrote with my friend Benji second edition is out now but we are going to be talking about the new stats you need to know for YouTube in 2024 a cool tool for discovering the exact videos that will get views how I earned over $37,000 from one YouTube video and then also how to reach your YouTube goals faster this year um we're keeping the conversation going over on
Instagram if you like Instagram uh myself and the think media team are on official think media but here's a big question right 2024 is it too late to start YouTube is can you start from scratch right now can you still grow can you break through well there's some good news YouTube actually continues to grow right now there's 2.7 billion monthly active users that actually means about a third of the world's population US is YouTube it's the second most visited website in the world and the reason this is powerful is we got to acknowledge of course
there's Rising competition that's the purpose of strategy content like this is how do you break through but there's also Rising consumption in business you call it supply and demand and the demand for good content is skyrocketing so with the right tips and strategies you of course can still break through now also it doesn't matter where you are in the world there's massive opportunity on YouTube YouTube is localized in more than a 100 countries and it's available in over 80 languages and so if you're around the world starting a channel this year is a great idea
now an older stat from tube filter revealed that actually 200 million people are earning money from digital content creation and that keeps going up so one of the things that we kind of focus on here at think media is how do you build a profitable channel of course you can build a channel just as a hobby that's great too but but how do you turn this into a business how do you tap into this business model in the creater economy and that's why we share unfiltered YouTube tips for building a profitable Channel and the financial
opportunity on YouTube continues to expand I was actually shocked when I saw that Yahoo finance said the Creator economy is the fastest growing segment of small business you know everybody's out there saying hey uh how do you how do you start a business start online do I invest in crypto do I do nfts do I do Drop Shipping and some of these are all kinds of different business models but the Creator economy itself is the fastest growing segment of small business and so we are huge fans here at think media of the opportunity and what's
specifically unique about this is actually some research that Goldman Sachs did that talked about the era we're living in right now as you're watching this video and they said the crater economy could approach a half a trillion dollars by 2027 this is wild right now there's about $250 billion do in the system that already is insane but what they're saying is that that's going to actually double in the next three years so in other words the next three years are going to be the best three years in the creater economy I'm not trying to overhype
anything of course you've got some Giants to slay of course there's a skill Gap there's things to learn of course there's positioning and yes lots of people want to get in on this opportunity but the wave of growth it's not it's not going down it's actually doubling in the next three years and so if you're going to be paddling anyways you might as well be paddling with the current to have the momentum of what's happening around the world in the Creator economy in YouTube on your side and all of these stats together reveal that YouTube
is healthy growing and it's the most profitable platform to establish your brand and so in this session we're actually going to be learning a lot and we're actually going to be learning from some of our students we have a program called video ranking Academy and we're going to be hearing some of their stories of how did they break through you know everyone's saying oh YouTube's hard and it's so challenging well how did they break through I'm excited to share some of their stories with you because we continue we have a private group where people just
share how they by the way didn't just get a thousand subscribers how they hit 100,000 subscribers and got that silver play button in fact early on I mentioned a story about someone who who got to a thousand subscribers in 14 days this is Marco his channel is called just dream Italy and he's an international property Hunter and promoter he's exploring Italy to find dream homes on and off the beaten Trail and Marco from publishing his first video he said it took him nine days to reach 1,000 subscribers and 15 days to get monetized now I'm
not trying to say those results are typical and I we like to say your race your pace you know is it okay if you were to get to a th000 subscribers in 14 days would you be cool with that let me know type yes uh but what if it took four months you know what if it actually took a year or longer we are all we are all in different topics different niches and your growth curve is going to be unique based on you but the cool thing about Marco is I actually asked him I
was like hey what are some of the insights that you had and he said well first your first few videos will make you feel uncomfortable that's one of his tips he said you got to be confident in yourself be confident in your vision and put yourself out there the second thing he said was invest in yourself he said the better you are with the tools learning the gear learning the content Creation The Closer your results are to matching your vision one of the things that Marco did is what a lot of you maybe are doing
in on the think media channel or in the challenge is he actually took a few months before he posted his first video um he started in March of 2023 and about six months before he started to invest in himself learn study get clear on his niche learn about how YouTube Works invested in some gear now again you don't have you could just start with your smartphone but this was his particular curve so when he posted his first video it's not like he just came out of nowhere he came out of investing in his learning getting
some coaching getting positioned and then boom when he hit his first video he already had Clarity and he knew uh exactly what he wanted to do on YouTube so what is the fastest and most predictable way to get 1,000 subscribers on YouTube well we're going to be talking about one strategy in this session and then five tips now inside of our full Academy we talk about 16 different strategies and we can't cover all of those even during our challenge but over the next few days we're going to go through three four five of those but
in this session this would be my absolute if someone sits me down for coffee Sean I'm thinking about starting a channel what's just like the basic quickest fastest most practical way for the everyday person who doesn't have fans gear for the everyday person who like doesn't have years of camera confidence or didn't do you know acting in high school or something that's a little bit nervous to get on camera well you can still get to 10,000 subscribers fast and so let's cover the first strategy the fastest way to create predictable growth on YouTube for the
everyday person is to make clear and concise videos that answer specific questions we call this the asq method and asq stands for answer specific questions here's tip number one of five tips tip number one is smart creators research before they press record you know when I started YouTube uh 20 years ago now I guess I started video 20 years ago for my church I started YouTube 2007 we started a a YouTube channel a vlog actually for my pastor for our small Church in Maryville Washington and once I started posting my own videos a lot of
times I would just post them with no plan no research and that was a bad idea what I learned was okay just like Marco man the more kind of thoughtfulness and the more strategy and the more intentionality you have the better when it comes to getting results on YouTube and growing faster it reminds me of Mary's story so Mary's a former New Yorker she's now living the simple life with her sweet husband in the Texas Hill Country and she wanted to start creating content but she didn't know where to start she didn't know how to
do YouTube right or how to make videos or what videos to make what she did know is that she had passion and if you're watching this I know you probably have a passion you you're trying to monetize that passion like she loved traditional cooking bone broths ferments and she wanted to share that passion on YouTube really showing people how to be a modern pioneer in the kitchen no matter where they live so she followed our system and that helped her build her confidence and it helped her start creating videos but she also tapped into this
fact that YouTube is the second search second largest search engine in the world now there's a lot of different people out there sharing YouTube advice and some is good some is bad some is dangerous because it's outdated and just doesn't work anymore but one of the actually M most slept on 2024 strategies is just remembering that YouTube is a search engine now of course there's ways to go viral and we would call there's really two different things there's search traffic and there's suggested traffic now suggested traffic is going to help you go viral faster but
search traffic is a lot more practical and a lot of times people aren't expecting fancy content on the other side of specific questions that's why I love this strategy because you can make simple videos and tap into the power of YouTube as a search engine so here's Mary's example she actually made a video after doing some research on how to make apple cider vinegar with the mother that's very specific we'd call these long tail keyword phrases that's the SEO term and her video ranks on YouTube these are some good terms to right like I want
my videos to rank on YouTube because if I make a video on YouTube a couple things you can notice about this that ranks this video is four years old and it has 98,000 views basic video sharing something that Mary has loved and done her whole life and she's you know learned this and she just simply took something she knew answered a specific question and put it on YouTube she created a video answering a specific question that people are actively searching for those last three words are important you want to make sure that people are actually
searching for the content that you're making well it's wild is from not knowing how to get on camera and not knowing you know any of the YouTube analytics or any of that stuff fast forward to today and Mary just crossed 1 million subscribers I don't think she's got her gold play button yet but it's been quite the journey you know she started YouTube when she was 60 now she's 65 she actually got a book deal from Random House one of the niche uh uh publications of Random House the big publisher and she has a cookbook
and all this other stuff well how did she start she started with the asq method answering specific questions and here's what's interesting 70% of viewers on YouTube use YouTube to help them solve a problem so how can you make a video that is helping the viewer solve a problem answer to their question teaching them something they don't know and here's the question we can ask what questions are your ideal audience searching for on YouTube there's a lot of different ways to find the different questions they're asking but that's something to Muse on what what is
it they really are looking for what are the problems that are keeping them up at night what are the things that they're wanting to learn discover and that brings us to tip number two use tools to find awesome video ideas there's a lot of different tools we can't cover we probably teach 20 of them in our course but we're going to cover just one basic one today that is still one of my favorites but let me tell you my story of how I discovered answering specific questions and how it changed my life you know for
me I grew up on six acres an hour north of Seattle uh everyone wore carart uh clothes at my school not like carart today is like cool from hipsters you know what I mean like people they're going to the shopping mall hit Starbucks to get like their venty frappuccino wearing a car heart beanie I went to school with people were wearing car heart because they worked on the farm that morning and uh that's where I grew up so I had six acres right and um it was uh I grew up uh really I always felt
like I didn't fit in uh because I was a farm boy who liked rap and punk rock import cars and snowboarding and grew up in the Pacific Northwest that's honestly a fake ID above my uh Honda Civic 1994 teal and yellow trim come on Fast and the Furious yeah do know that I actually had a green ground lighting kit uh I worked at Red Robin waiting tables and spent all my money on my car uh absolutely um anti-financial wisdom but you know what it is the fake ID never worked for anything uh but I I
tried but anyways um I never really felt like I I fit in I was trying to find my place and I found that that's may maybe you can relate to that and and that's kind of what's cool about the internet is I found like this community I found other people that are passionate and ambitious and and uh creative and uh I love YouTube because it really helps us connect with others and um eventually I got into video and you could see some old school gear there and I started in 2003 doing an internship at my
smalltown church started making videos for the youth group and uh started to post these ridiculous videos on our church YouTube channel and then eventually I started my own channel and actually here's a little clip of one of the uh of my first vide I posted on my personal Channel all right so uh this is I guess the first Sean thanks Vlog and uh I'm going to try to Vlog every single day um mainly so I can remember what I'm even doing um and what's going on cuz I just feel like I have a lot that
I'm thinking about and I figured hey why not share it and if you find something interesting that's awesome now this is definitely uh as real as it gets so I'm not going to try to be energetic or entertaining um though maybe sometimes I will but anyways uh this is definitely as real as it gets okay so that video is super embarrassing and uh by the way um you know I did just press record which is good because I've learned you know you cannot steer a parked car and so it's nice to to get moving but
obviously that video was terrible and I would have benefited from from some strategic content like this because I'm like I don't even know what I'm doing and I don't have a plan there's something powerful about actually having a plan kind of like Marco right he sat down he learned to plan to strategize to position himself and so I hope that video was encouraging to you because by the way there's really two insights I've discovered about success on YouTube as now I think about it over the years is you actually do have to start before you're
ready again uh of course I could that video was bad and I could have structured it different I knew none of this stuff but but there is something powerful about starting and I want to encourage you we get to coach so many different content creators and there's really commonalities of why people are being held back you're overthinking you're overthinking about you're worried what other people think you're worried about what people from high school think who aren't even following you online anymore but you've got some insecurity like I have because you didn't really fit in you
know and so it kind of holds you back from putting yourself out there friend you got to start before you're ready your first videos are going to be your worst videos but there's something powerful about getting moving because even though my first video was so bad it did get me started and then I could build from there but the second thing I learned was obviously that first video was not good enough to make it and get views let's be honest you can't you can't feel entitled to getting views on YouTube you've got to commit to
leveling up like I had to commit to Improvement if I would have stayed where I was when I started we wouldn't even be talking right now this wouldn't be worth your time because I never got better I never improved so I really learned that you got to commit to learning new skills YouTube is pretty tough I mean you're you're trying to figure out how to write titles and do thumbnails and and how do I you know communicate on camera and how do I structure a video and how do I teach and how do I entertain
well it's going to be a process and so committing to learning new skills is one of the main commitments that all content creators have to commit to it's the Journey that we go on together and so after doing that I started to learn new skills I eventually discovered the power of asq of answering specific questions and this is my story with asq you know why I was waiting tables at Red Robin that was actually Halloween I was dressed up as Wayne from Wayne's World for at Red Robin in Smokey Point Washington um I started to
make videos and and at that time I was working in everite here's a video I did in my car how to get started in video production in video editing you know by I think 2010 11 when I posted this video I had been doing video for seven years I didn't go to film school but I had been investing in my learning I actually bought some online courses and some different things I remember still motion with wedding videographer company that uh bought their course and I was doing a lot of wedding videos music videos for like
local Seattle hip hop uh hip-hop artists shout out Chad Kang wangis Chad kangus up here in Maryville and uh was doing different videos YMCA and so I was making these videos investing in my skills and then I thought okay what I've been doing I'm going to teach that on YouTube I'm G to answer specific questions for other people who would want to follow in my footsteps and I wasn't like an expert but I was a few steps ahead I want to encourage you you don't have to be an expert nobody has is g to come
like King Arthur is not going to come night you and say you're ready my son to start your YouTube channel like you kind of got to choose yourself and step out there Just Launch but sometimes we overthink like I don't know enough actually if you're a few steps ahead share what you know share your answer share your secrets share your shortcuts and so that's what I did I actually did it while I was commuting to work I put my Droid X on like a dash Mount clearly the shot composition was horrible because my face was
in the corner that'd be like if I was shooting this video like all right guys welcome to the challenge you know here we are that's it's actually where my face was framed for the entire entire video but hey it's still got 7,000 views but this brings us to the tool that I wanted to share with you because how to get started in video production and video editing what you can do what the tool is is using the YouTube search bar how and what you what you do when you use the search YouTube search bar is
a couple things happen when you start typing how to get started in video editing so what are we seeing here when you start typing in the YouTube search bar it autocompletes your sentence it finishes your sentence and these predictions here are video ideas verified that YouTube is telling you in order of what people are actually searching for and the kind of videos they want to watch so when I said how to get started in video editing or videography what's happened here before I press record I have verified interest in the topic and verified even how
people would say it how they would pose the question see one of the biggest mistakes people make is you might go test this out right now you take your topic you say how to your topic or there's lots of different angles you could hit you enter your topic and you see what's predicted in fact again you don't have to even just uh you could type in video editing and then see it says tips for beginners there's a little cool tip you could put underscore before it you could go underscore video editing cap cut video editing
kind Master now you know what software people are interested in so there's a lot of different ways to use the search bar but what you might go there and start typing and be like Sean nothing comes up like I'm typing I'm trying for different angles nothing comes up well honestly that's a red flag because it doesn't mean you can't do your Channel about that doesn't mean you can't make a video about that but what it does mean is you're not verifying that people are Act actively searching for that topic and if nobody's actively searching for
and interested in that topic then don't be surprised if your views aren't that good and your subscribers don't grow what's a better approach creating content that there is a verified audience for so I started to discover okay like this asq thing is powerful and mind you for an early video where the shot composition could not have been worse and the tech and audio on it could not have been worse I still got 7,000 views why well I shared 10 minutes of real experience with video editing and eventually how to build a video editing PC video
editing PC tips how to build an HD video editing PC so so years ago over a decade ago I'm putting out this content why because I research before I press record and I use tools and again this is just one tool when you start really diving into the world of finding good video ideas you're going to get more views you're going to get to a th subscribers faster you know how to record Skype interviews actual pain points actual desires that the audience was looking for now over the years I didn't just do this about video
and about you know it's kind of meta like I now I you know I'm a YouTube teacher and I do some of these other things but one of my biggest passions was not just having success as a YouTube teacher on YouTube teaching YouTube respect to my friends who do that but I think there's something like I really wanted to like verify that I could do this in any Niche and in other types of Channel topics so on my personal Channel Sean Kell over the years I would do videos like this one for example like best
greens powder I'm kind of a hobbyist biohacker I buy lots of different supplements and I do red light therapy and NAD plus and I'm trying to cold plunge but it's cold so I don't enjoy it um but I'm trying to do it you know and so for example I I did my research thought about a product that I already purchase and use which I like when I travel to mix um you know green powder if I can't get fresh green juice with like a bottle of water so I put this video out there and we're
going to be talking about this later this week on some of the deeper challenge sessions but this one video has earned over $22,000 now that might sound shocking and if you look closely and see so some people go Sean you're lying your results that's that's a lie it only has 186,000 views there's no way you could earn the money from AdSense I didn't say from AdSense this video only earned about $1,000 in AdSense but because of uh the strategies I put around this video again that will be covering later in the challenge this video has
earned over years $220,000 and that's why I started to get powerful about our partic I started to get passionate about the way we approach content on think media there's a way to make content that again serves people helps them with information answering specific questions but that can also be highly profitable and when you kind of follow the right steps in the right order you make videos like that and just imagine having one video that earns you $20,000 over the next couple years and then imagine learning that skill to have 10 videos doing that okay that's
$200,000 now you start thinking okay so this could be more practical and more sustainable I'm not saying that our methodology is the only way to approach YouTube but I don't really see anybody else teaching it the way we do we approach it with a mindset that that you need to have money for the mission you need to be able to build a sustainable business so that you can support your family and create more content and not burn out like a lot of people are kind of doing right now there's this whole thing of different people
that are like okay you know I'm quitting YouTube and a lot of times these people have already like had massive success and they probably have millions of dollars in the bank but we we're on a mission to help one million purpose-driven people create a full-time living doing what they love while making a difference in the world with video and YouTube and experience that success without losing their soul like what good is it to build a big YouTube channel but like blow up your family or burn out or be exhausted in the process so what I
love about the asq method and some of the financial strategies we're going to be talking about over the next sessions is that there's a practicality to it so you can create a video one time that keeps getting views for years to come and keeps earning you money for years to come so again if you haven't actually registered this first session is streaming on Instagram and YouTube but the rest of the session are happening in a circle group and if you go to tube 1K challenge.com you can uh register for that it's entirely free uh but
let's get to tip number three okay start with simple videos that are easy to create so when doing this you've probably noticed like in a way the the bar is rising on YouTube for kind of the elite level of content and it's super intimidating you know if you look at the kind of Mr vtif of YouTube it just the bar gets higher spending millions of on YouTube hundreds of people work on the videos tons of video editors tons of Shooters now he's got years of experience but I think even one encouraging thing when you think
about that is that's not where Mr B started you look at MKBHD Tech YouTuber millions of subscribers not where he started you you gotta start never compare your beginning to somebody else's middle my friend John Acuff said that like never compare your beginning to where somebody else is now start with what you have Where You Are now but I want to encourage you to start with simple videos what I'm not saying is that by doing a simple video on your smartphone and doing an asq video that you're going to go super viral but what I
am saying is if you do it right I can guarantee guarantee views maybe you normally get 50 views you're gonna start getting 275 586 and when you do the right asq videos You'll check back in three years and be like shoot that video has got 13,000 views now and it'll keep getting views so if you're just starting out and you feel kind of overwhelmed with the tech and everything else start with simple videos that are easy to create and don't believe the myth that simple videos can't get big views from doing different research and using
different tools I remember when I discovered a very simple so simple you might call it stupid and but simple basic video idea and I found it and I was like hey Nolan because now on thick media we have multiple creators I was like bro you should make this video he's like all right cool so he did it's so basic it's so simple and here was what the video was called it was called how to turn on comments on YouTube the video has 1.6 million views it's three minutes long this video is so basic it's so
simple yet you're out here trying to like how do I compete with people with big budgets and big teams I would encourage you not to start it's kind of like if you're going to go up against Goliath you don't you can't carry the heavy sword in the heavy Shield you got to have a different strategy you got the five smooth Stones you got the slingshot you can't even wear Saul's armor it's a whole different approach and so ultimately thinking about I was like noan make this video and then boom I've been doing this long enough
that this is ex what happened was exactly I thought would happen is from using tools from doing research from from finding some basis simple easy to make videos putting those videos out so in an intentional way and you know be brief be bright be fun and be done there's no reason to fluff that video up there's no way to make that video longer than the length that it was but here's what's so wild is now this video has not only grown our think media channel 7,000 subscribers it's generated over $7,000 and this video is almost
two years old and continues to get like a hundred views every hour so asq videos in 2024 are still a big opportunity yes it's a skill set to to find the right videos and position them right and yes some things have changed because a couple more tips are are you don't just like find how to do video editing there's there's some different things you can do with the title that is very important with the modern changes to YouTube uh but I want to encourage you you're one video away like imagine just getting a frac of
the result like one video how to turn on comments got 7,000 subscribers we're talking about how to get your first a th000 subscribers you're one video away and it might not be your next video it might be video 16 video 24 video 36 something about committing to the process you know getting through your bad videos like my first videos but you're one video away and you're one video away from earning $7,000 from the partner program like this stuff happens on the other side of consistency but also on the other side of improve improving your skills
you know it reminds me of one of our students Andrew finny so he's a real estate agent also served uh in the United States Marine Corps he's a veteran and uh if by the way if you or anyone in your family has served I just want to say thank you so grateful uh freedom is not free and uh we want to send you massive love and respect from here at think media my grandfather LOL Reed actually was in the United States uh Army aircore so that was before the Air Force uh during World War II
and so just massive love and respect but here's Andrew and by the way if you look at his setup now super crispy nice microphone depth of field cool subscribe thing behind him Etc that's where he was after a few years of leveling up and improving let's go back to the early days here's Andrew in the early days with a asq video and if you actually look I don't know this camera right here is is like what a $20 webcam it might be a baked potato like this is the the camera quality is terrible the shot
composition you know here's a little uh video tip I did my best to frame this shot close to perfect you know we call it real estate you don't want too much real estate above your head so kind of framed up centered here microphone trying to have a nice lens blurry background whatever and and some people though they think you should Center your face this is not where you want to be okay like you don't need this above your head so if you're trying to frame up your shot even with the smartphone you can frame the
shot better butless you think I'm critiquing uh Andrew I'm not putting the video down I'm just saying when you start you might not know all the things the shot composition might be bad the by the way the audio is also terrible I'm talking into a nice USB mic you know that's close sounds good I hope but sometimes you're talking to your phone in an echoey room and it sounds like you're you know you're five feet away and it's echoey in your kitchen and and that's part of the journey these are tweaks you can improve by
of course frame it up better maybe some lighting maybe some audio but the reason I share all this is because when you look at his early video of course it's better today but but the production value is of his early video didn't hurt the results look at the top the title number one six questions to ask when buying a new construction home cool look at the views 126,000 views and this video is still getting views to day sometimes you actually you might have one of those over time you go to your real time views and
you're like dude that there's this one video in my library where like my makeup was wrong like my collar was up I you know I weird stuff was I don't people keep watching it like I hate that video but people keep watching it but that's what's one of the powerful things about YouTube it's the only platform where your content lives forever and if you make the right videos position the right way then you can experience what Andrew's experiencing with this video which is actually that it continues to get 17 views a day that's 6,000 views
an an hour or per year 6,000 views a year and the video is six years old so you can see this little uh number on screen this is using a tool that shows you other PE like data on other people's channels and I want you to write this down if you're taking notes vph that's stands for views per hour so Andrew's six-year-old video with terrible video quality and audio quality still gets s views per hour 17 views a day 6,000 views a year now imagine having 10 of those imagine having 50 of those if I
was doing a channel audit on you though one of the biggest concerns I have when I go to people's channels is they post new videos but they don't have any video videos that are getting views per hour older videos the dream is to see multiple videos on your channel that get views when you're not posting new content that's what we talk about the power of ranking a video on YouTube and so remember what you say in your videos and the value you give to the viewer matters more than how fancy they look I'm not saying
don't level up your your gear eventually I'm not saying video editing and production doesn't matter yes that is all powerful things you can do but I'm proving verifiably that strategic asq videos that add good information that help the viewer that add real value is more important than how fancy the videos look which brings us to number four write catchy titles that make the viewer want to click it's 2024 y'all we got to up the game some people might be saying yo Sean he's teaching kind of some old school SEO stuff uh yeah and it still
works in 2024 check the scoreboard bro like the numbers are are happening think media think media podcast answering specific questions ranking video still works but the game is also changing and I'll admit that there's something about not just doing keyword research topic research and then just throwing out the video like robotically this is why as good as AI is and you should be using it and as good as some of these tools are you should be using them you still got to learn psychology human behavior you you want to learn how to write some people
who only rely on chat GPT writing for them are ultimately going to uh weaken their skills over time it'd be like kind of wearing a brace or always working out without free rates but always on on like a a machine you're not going to develop the Nuance that those who actually learn how to write and not just depend on AI to do everything for them it's both and I'm a huge proponent of using AI tools but you understanding even human behavior psychology so when I say write catchy titles that make the viewer want to click
after you've done your research before you press record there's something about speaking to how humans read making the title more interesting and you want to spice it up you want to make it more catchy you know meet Larry so I remember uh when Larry joined video raet Academy he's a chartered financial analyst faced a lot of challenges on his journey in his career and he had a history in finance he uh tells a story and he says he really struggled with comparing himself to others and originally he failed the level three CFA exam which caused
him to get passed up for a promotion but here's kind of a cool thing when I was uh talking to him he said sometimes the greatest difficulties and the greatest disappointment are a setup for God to get you to your dreams faster like sometimes what seems like a Clos door means there's another door opening up not his exact words but my interpretation you know and that's how he felt because he got passed up for the job promotion which pushed him pushed him into wanting to pursue this creater economy like he always was kind of into
creating content and and and wanted to step out on his entrepreneurial Journey as a Creator and so he posted his first video and it was it fancy case in point no fancy lighting no fancy camera just shot the video in his room that's pretty good shot composition but again you know it's coming down down here like what's all this space for if you take one thing away from this session close the real estate and you know frame the you know in film too you know sometimes they even chop the head off a little bit there
it's a good it's a good shot composition you like it when we come a little bit closer okay let's stay focused um and so so he posted his first video it wasn't fancy but it only took him six months using strategies like this to get 53,000 subscribers almost a million views and he only posted 13 videos so he was using the asq method but notice he would spice up the title a little bit so this would be a question and see that doesn't have to start with how too is it possible to live off dividends
a guide to Dividend growth so what I'm saying here notice this video is two years old still getting views over 100,000 views why it's a ranked video but the tip here is is make your titles catchy once you've clarified the topic that you want to make a video about you don't have you you can spice up the title and reposition the title in multiple different ways so for example best inflation stocks also notice you don't have to say what are the best inflation stocks so it's really short three words and then my mega plan to
profit from inflation and secure the bad now I don't know if you know maybe people are maybe people are searching how do I secure the bag you know like that do you you would you search that would that be the language so that's more like how we talk that's more like putting your personality in there so it's a both and thing I'm not talking about rigid soulless you know search-based titles I'm talking about verify topics and then think about how you can build your title out he's got he's got as a CFA so there's some
Authority there he's a chartered financial analyst in his title and again this video got 1.2 million views and it's two years old it's what we'd call A ranked video you know Google revealed that 86% of us viewers say they often use YouTube to learn new things and Larry's really tapped into that not only did he eventually cross 100,000 subscribers um but he just continues he's built up his newsletter and done a lot of cool things in his creator economy business and by the way side note I know some of the people in The Challenge you
already picked up the starter kit one of the resources in our YouTube starter kit we have the 15 best YouTube title formulas for getting views and again this is better than AI because yeah AI can tell you different different titles like video ideas or whatever but we want to tap into these are human psychology based I've probably spent $30,000 on learning copyrighting alone whether from buying books or going to classes and stuff and that's the skill I don't mean copyrighting videos it's the skill of writing persuasive marketing copy like words that get people to take
action that's the skill set you want to master but if you want the shortcut this is just one of the resources you know again no big deal if you're not interested in this but we still have this on a special sale at tub starter kit.com and it includes not just the title formula guide but also some really cool resources that'll just help you go faster in either starting or Reviving your YouTube channel it's a digital asset bundle but here's the truth literally just one asq video can help your channel get a thousand thousands of subscribers
and make thousands of dollars so using just the asq strategy remember I'm not saying this is the only strategy there are many different approaches to YouTube and the sophisticated creator has multiple Tools in their tool belt this is just one tool right you use different tools for different things but it's my favorite way for leveling the P playing field so that any of us with a smartphone and something to say can start creating content and get thousands of subscribers and even generate thousands of dollars you know one of the videos I did would be this
video about best copyright uh free music for YouTube videos this is five years old and by verifying interest in the topic uh I made the video and it was essentially answering the question what is the best copyright free music and you could see that this video still gets views today in fact here's the results one video has grown my channel think media 55,000 subscribers and I'm not trying to flex here I'm just trying to show you results that imagine if you got just 10% of those results that means one video would grow your channel by
5,500 subscribers so one asq video could be all it takes to break through the a th000 subscriber Mark the 3,000 subscriber Mark the 10,000 subscriber Mark and again one video I promised you this at the beginning just from the partner program the YouTube Partner program has earned over 37,000 um dollars that YouTube has paid me so what's cool is of course not every video is going to do that not every one of my videos do that but by committing to the asq method over the years I now have thousands of views that get I have
thousands of videos that get views every single hour and I I hope hope there's some light bulbs going because you start thinking about tapping into this style of content yes this usually leans more education more teaching something which I think is the best approach for the average everyday person to experience YouTube success we have a lot of strategies that will help you on the entertainment side but it's a different approach when you're thinking the entertainment side and so by answering a specific question that people are asking you can create such a win-win win a win
for the viewer they learn something starts to build Goodwill you get subscribers that can earn money get you approved for the partner program and like if you aren't in a niche that is as big as say YouTube education and then bigger than that you mean if you go parenting or marriage or you get into these other things YouTube education is Tiny compared to a lot of the topics out there but sometimes like let's say you're in business you're a service provider you're business owner entrepreneur and you're not trying to do YouTube ad Revenue like that's
maybe a cool extra thing but you actually have services or a business you know it reminds me of Stacy Tel she starts posting videos on her YouTube channel her YouTube channel at this moment I think has 2,000 subscribers it's not a huge Channel and this video answering a specific question only got 15,000 views but when I say only Stacy tutol has a multi-million dollar pery year business why because when you approach YouTube you want to also be clear on what is your money plan what is the business plan around your channel and oftentimes the quote
unquote most successful creators don't think like creators they think like CEOs they think like business owners and they think about what's the bigger game I'm playing what's the bigger business I want to build maybe not at the start but how am I also going to have my own products and services and so that's what Stacy did and so one video that gets 15,000 views can earn $50,000 because of the leads and awareness and Prospect that come in to her world from answering specific questions so what's a specific question you could answer for your YouTube channel
what is something that is a video you could make and let's say you brainstormed five or 10 of those which one would be the easiest to make next like not oh I'd have to research and drive two hours and go film it and if I I need a better camera for that no no no like what would actually be like oh that seems too basic kind of like in YouTube education when we were like how to turn on comments for YouTube in fact it's so basic that 99% of my competitors or whatever didn't even answer
the question right like so they're they're they're thinking that maybe I don't know what they're thinking but sometimes maybe the most simple and obvious things get ignored yet their opportunity that's sitting right in front of us and I want to encourage you if you've been doing the thing you've been doing for a couple years you've experienced the pain you've experienced the challenges you've asked the questions maybe you've read a book or two or listened to an audio book about it like you could start sharing your answers like your imp parenting or marriage or your faith
or whatever it is like you don't have to be like a worldclass theologian to start helping somebody who's brand new to the Bible study the Bible like you don't have to be like a world class have a perfect marriage no such thing right but to start sharing here's some stuff that's helped me have a stronger marriage like whatever it is that you do you start sharing your answers and when you discover through research the topic you might be able to say literally I could like write three bullet points on a sticky note and then make
that video and that's what I want to encourage you to get started with don't overthink it we can get fancier as we go think media has gotten fancier over the years but before you go oh Sean easy for you to say you have people helping with editing and shooting today and you have all that no not easy for me to say I started just like you and everybody does low resources I started in debt um and and losing our homes and going through a hard season and I started with having to make videos all by
myself alone in my bedroom right I was the shooter I was the editor and so that's why I want to encourage you to start simple because complexity is the enemy of execution making some simple videos figuring out how to monetize as soon as possible becomes one of the best Pathways to then upgrade and maybe get better gear eventually hire a video editor like there's levels to the game and so we want to master level one level two before we try to skip to level five and and maybe compete with some you know other competitors that
are out of our league and remember 70% of viewers use YouTube to help them solve problems so when you're positioning your content to solve a problem or to help somebody learn something you're tapping into massive massive traffic massive viewers that ultimately you can reach and get to a thousand subscribers faster which brings us to tip number five which is know your goals and get clear on why you want to grow your channel you know Brian Tracy said this you must raise your aspirations set Higher Goals and make detailed plans to achieve them I've learned no
goals no growth and so let me ask you why do you want to succeed on YouTube is it because of making some money Dream Home better vacations is it because of significance and Legacy maybe teach something to the next generation is it family and freedom is it to prove your parents wrong maybe prove the haters wrong is it to live up to your god-given potential um you know YouTube takes grit it takes tenacity it takes resilience it takes commitment uh don't get me wrong I am not saying this is get rich quick and I'm not
saying that this is easy but I am saying that this can be simple with the right strategies why do you want to start a YouTube channel why do you want to grow your influence online this is actually one of the most powerful points I know we shared some tactics but I think that success is really about 20% the tactics the strategies um you know knowing how to do the skill sets and it's a critical 20% it's the tip of the spear but like the other 80% it's really the psychology it's like staying motivated when The
View are low you don't quit when you feel like giving up you don't quit when the competition feels like it's super big and hard to defeat you don't quit and you stay in it and you continue to learn and you continue to grow you have a growth mindset and I found that that can really be fueled by getting super clear on a strong why you know if you never heard my why before really it got clear for me in 2009 when my wife Sonia almost died and if you haven't heard my story she was hospitalized
Iz for six days feeding two bitter nose and then eventually Jay junam and there was a bot uh install of that so they had to cut her open and clean out uh all this liquid that was all around her organs and whatnot it was a really dark time and and and if that wasn't the worst thing that was happening when I was by my wife's side for six days um we had already been going through a massive financial hardship you know the big short happened if you've ever seen the movie and we had bought a
house and then turned it into a rental and we had another one and we were kind of house hacking like that's a trendy term today we didn't know that term then but we had a whole another family and their daughter living upstairs in the master we were like living in a mother-in-law two other roommates ridiculous but we were just kind of like on the momentum of maybe this will be an investment but then the housing market crashes so we're losing our home and my wife was actually the main bread winner like when we first met
and got married in 2005 she was working three jobs as I was doing Ministry and trying to get my video production business off the ground and so now that she as her health was going downhill and eventually she was hospitalized like we're losing money and losing our homes and we're in the absolute hardest season of our life when I found myself in that hospital room for six days and I had a lot of time to reflect honestly a lot of time to worry and I'll never forget though because I was just kind of praying and
I felt challenged by God that I really had like two choices that I could just go down this path of of being discouraged and and like being overwhelmed which I was of course those things and that's what I love about again my faith is I draw that that is my strength that's my core that's the whole thing that gets me through every hard season but I just sort of felt like I had that choice and the other choice was Sean you got to man up you got to fight for your family you gotta yes you
got these circumstances but you got to fight to overcome these circumstances when you did your vows you said through sickness and health through rich or poor and you could look at this like this is so awful this is happening and it is but you also could look at as an opportunity well with with the strength you have and the creativity you have and the vision you have you can fight for your family and so I saw like a pathway I was either going to give into cynicism or like discouragement and just like kind of go
even down a victim like why is this happening to me or I could start getting creative and start hustling and actually look at the blessings in my life one of those being YouTube when 2009 when my wife was in the hospital I had already started a YouTube channel and I started to study the YouTube world I started to learn about different ways to make money online and so in the midst of hardship sometimes it's lit like in the seed of every every obstacle is a seed of equal or greater opportunity and so man what's going
to happen I'm so worried about my wife how are we going to pay these medical bills how are we going to support and it was the spark and the fire for me that it wasn't as much the fame and the followers and all of that stuff that can come with YouTube by the way that stuff's super cool like I wanted to get the silver blade button too like that all seemed like a drein like way out there but but like the real fire that helped me go through those early days of starting a channel because
think media for the first five years was like flat and then year six it was like this and year seven it was like this and year eight nine and 10 now we're on you know it really is about seven years old when I went all in but the first video on think media was like 13 years ago so what gets you through the valley of the shadow of death right what gets you through that man I will fear no evil I'm going to keep going when I want to quit what gets you through that I
think it's having a strong why and I think this is worth writing down and I want to kind of end the session on this is something that we talk about at think media a lot and it's this reasons come first results come second like what are your reasons for wanting to start a YouTube channel and I think like having a cool car that's it's a good re I mean if that's having more freedom having more autonomy but man when you tap into that thing that is in the deepest part of your soul and for me
it's family is everything it's my faith is everything it's not giving up it's like stay strong until the end it's I got to overcome you know and and so that reason when I was pumped and a video was one out of 10 and I felt like going I felt like working on my channel well that's easy when you feel like it but when I didn't feel like it I would come back to my reasons man I'm fighting for my family I'm fighting for legacy I'm fighting for our future what are your reasons at the foundation
of session number one in our challenge I want to encourage you to write these down but I also want to encourage you to like keep them on your mirror keep them like top of mind because this will be the fuel that helps you build that YouTube business that side hustle that home homebased business that gives that freedom to your family it's huge reasons come first results come second and you know fast forward to today and it's a I'm collapsing a lot of time here but fast forward to today and you know just an update on
my wife is through a lot of different surgeries and medical proced we discovered she had gastroparesis So eventually she had a gastric stimulator installed that's paralysis of the stomach and it's like a device an internal kind of like people have pacemakers for their heart she has one for her stomach the other thing that's crazy was doctors didn't think we'd be able to start a family didn't think we'd be able to have kids and now we have two beautiful boys Sean Bradley and John Steven and from that hospital room you know today I think about the
think media podcast and some of the things that we're doing and I think about the think media team which is like 25 or 30 people and you think about contractors and I think about the students and the different people that we've been able to impact I go all the way back to that why in the road the road like the why in the road where I could have either just like given up given in and like not fought and just just conceited just given up or I could have said this really sucks and I really
want to quit and I don't know all the steps and I don't know what our future holds but what I do know is I'm G to keep fighting and what I do know is that I'm going to commit to learning new skills and what I do know is that the opportunity is real I'm not saying it's easy but the next three years are going to be the best three years in the crater economy that's Goldman Sachs research there is a wave to ride and so if there's an opportunity man I'm going to go for it
if there is a chance to like cut through the no I'm gon to go for it and that's what I felt in that hospital room and I want to ask you a question that really has kind of changed my life and it's this who is waiting for you to show up and take your goal seriously seriously who is waiting for you to show up and take your goals seriously not trying to create any kind of weird pressure or anything but I think it's sometimes when I look at our students and I look at the people
like I look at this community and the subscribers and I think man what if I wouldn't have started what if I would have given in to fear what if I would have given in to just settling what if I would have given in I can't like that that parallel universe you know what who's waiting like whose life wouldn't have been impacted and isn't that why we're on Earth to make a difference in the life of somebody else we're not going to all have the same YouTube channel Chanel same size of YouTube channel but if you
could just change the life of one person teach them something encourage them to keep going pass something along wouldn't that be worth it to start your channel friend who is waiting for you to show up and take your goals seriously getting a Clear Vision reasons come first results come second so as we land the plane I want to encourage you we talked about five tips but write down some of your goals practical goals man I want to get a th000 subscribers by when you know smart goals specific measurable attainable like like when do you want
to reach those goals what is your goals for 2024 but more important than the goals column in my opinion is the reasons column like what's the cause that you're fighting for who are the enemies that you're fighting against who what is the thing that makes you cry what is the thing that makes you passionate what is the thing that gets you fired up what is the 99% of things that people are talking in a circle of friends you don't even care to get in the conversation but they bring up a certain topic and you're like
oh I got an opinion on that when you start to feel the emotion it's kind of like emotion and logic goals are like The Logical side but the emotional side the reasons come first results come second is the fire that I believe is necessary to win in a YouTube landscape like it is today and so I'd love to hear your aha moment from this session and let's just quickly recap number one YouTube is healthy and growing number two you can use the asq method to get your first a th000 subscribers and Beyond number three start
with simple videos that are easier to create and number four write down your goals and the reasons you want to succeed on YouTube the next three years are going to be the best three years in the Creator economy and commitment is the foundation of all Great accomplishments we don't reach anything until we commit commitment unlocks momentum and energy and I want to challenge you too like if you're serious about YouTube join us for the next four sessions because sometimes it's like you bought a book you didn't even finish reading it I mean no shame but
like don't complain about the results you didn't get from the work you didn't do there's something about like I'm actually G to get serious about YouTube this year I'm not going to approach it as an amateur I'm going to Pro approach it with a professional mindset to do the Reps to do the work to do the study and to take action and that's one of the things we do in this challenge is we aren't here to just take some notes and learn we're here to take action every single day
