what's up guys my name is Brandon and today APPA released Mac OS Sequoia 15. 2 and in this video I'm going to be showing you all of the new features and changes including some very handy Apple intelligence features that you'll actually use on your Mac so first off Apple intelligence is now available in localized English in Australia Canada New Zealand South Africa and United Kingdom okay so now let's get to some of these new features here in Mac AOA 15. 2 and the first one is chat GPT integration yes chat GPT is now built in to Mac OS you no longer need the thirdparty chat GPT application although you'll probably still keep it if you had it because you can't do everything with this integration but let me just demonstrate here so if you go into your Apple intelligence and series settings and go down to the bottom under extensions we now have chat GPT if you click on that and go into here you will need to enable this after you update because it is disabled by default and keep in mind you do not need an account to use chat GPT on your Mac you can sign in but it is not required okay so there's multiple ways to use this and it's not just for Siri but we're going to show the Siri part first so if we double press Command right here or whatever keyboard shortcut you have pulled up for type to Siri I'm going to drag this down here so you can see it a little bit better so how this chat GPT integration works with Siri specifically is that if you ask a question that Siri cannot answer if it's a little bit too complex chat GPT will answer that for you so I ask for some simple clean recipes to make in under 20 minutes and I ask for step-by-step directions and if we go ahead and tap on return it will need to use chat GPT for that since I asked for step-by-step directions and you will see this prompt right here I'll need to use chat GPT to write that should I go ahead and you will have to manually click use chat GPT every time that Siri decides to use chat GPT because it cannot answer the question now you can disable that right here in your settings it says confirm chat GPT requests so if you're somebody who is going to use chat GPT often on your Mac I would highly recommend turning that off that way you don't need to confirm the request every single time so let's go and click on use chat GPT and you will see it says working with chat GPT with a nice little animation there and then will give us the response right here so there we go it shows our recipes chicken Caesar salad wrap and so on so you can see all them along with the step-by-step instructions clearly something that Siri would never be able to give us now you can also copy from right here and also something I've noticed is that sometimes Siri will answer things that I didn't realize it could answer so if I ask that same thing without asking for step-by-step directions let me go ahead and turn on confirm again so if I go ahead and hit return right here without asking for directions you'll notice that Siri will actually give us the response which is pretty interesting now with that being said you can force chat GPT so if we type out chat GPT first and then paste exactly the the same thing it will force us to use chat GPT so you can see there it says working with chat GPT so if you ever want to force a query to go to chat GPT instead of Siri all you have to do is just put chat GPT in front of it now keep in mind I am typing this out and type to Siri but this does also work if you're using voice to Siri and another example of that is chat PT what's 2 plus2 something that clearly Siri can answer but if you put chat GPT before it it will give you the answer from chat GPT and that is signified down here in the bottom left but it gets even better because you could also have chat GPT look at your screen so you could ask it to look at my screen and then it will take a screenshot and it will be able to see what's on your screen and answer a question that you might have asked related to what's on your screen but like I mentioned earlier Siri is not the only place where you can take advantage of the chat GPT integration because it's now built in to the writing tools so you know how in Mac OS aoia 15.
1 we had these writing tools if you go into notes and click on this right here we have our writing tools or of course you'd always select the text right click and then go down to writing tools that was there in 15. 1 but now at 15. 2 we have a brand new chat GPT option down here that's called compose so now if you click on compose we have a brand new interface here and there's a lot to unpack here so first off compose is meant to basically describe what you want to write and chat GPT will write it but you could also change your text quite a bit as well so you can include all text or only the selected text so let's just say this sentence right here so I can just change this to say make it the opposite and talk from the POV of a 12-year-old who loves Tech and if I go ahead and hit return you can see it will completely change what I just wrote there so it gives me a new paragraph here but also we have the suggestions it gives us suggestions based on you know what we wrote there so it's going to change every time you use the compose feature these are the little ref ments so it says add more humorous suggestions include a personal anecdote from the kid mention other YouTubers the kid prefers so if I want to have a personal anecdote I can just click on that and it will go ahead and put that in to here and do it for me or I can press enter and if you don't like any of those suggestions you can just refine it up here and start typing in something else that you would like to see changed with this text you also have your back and forward arrows to go back and revert the changes or go back to a change from before beforehand and then also we have this right here which will rewrite everything completely and that just basically gives it another go at your original prompt now you could also type something from scratch or you know have something written from scratch so if we empty this and go into compose right here so my prompt is to write a poem on what Steve Jobs would think about Apple today and I wanted to sign off as Steve J 2024 so if you go ahead and put that in to our compos dialogue box to our text box you will see it will write us a poem right right here so this is nothing groundbreaking obviously you've been able to do this with chat GPT for a while but you don't get this interface right here and you also don't get access to this inside of any application where you can access writing tools so I really like these Suggestions by the way they are very good and very relevant every single time that I do a compose here so this is awesome but it gets even better because also we have this plus right here where you can add a reference so if you want to reference a photo or a document for chat TPT to maybe answer something or refer to something you can do that so I'm going to add in this spreadsheet right here we're going to ask it a question so we'll just say compare widget a and widget B in terms of Revenue costs and profit so it's going to reference this file right here and give us our answer inside of our note right here not really the best use case for this but this is a good example of how it can work when referencing a file or a photo and it gives you these good suggestions once again if you want to change that or if you want to re right you can do that right there you could also reference another file if you would like to so if I want to add something else we'll just add in this right here so we'll add in an image you can reference both files at the same time and refine it and for example if you go into Safari and you select some text right here and right click and go to writing tools and show writing tools you'll have compose right here and if I just say make funny for example I can do that and it will write out a way to make this text funny right here in this box so you can see that's what it looks like right there but also you might have noticed inside of writing tools right up top here we have another change that's called describe your change and this is actually Apple's own models this is not related to chat GPT but you can do essentially the same thing as compose when it comes to editing text so compose is really best used for generating text based on a prompt but this describe your change up top is more so meant to change the tone of text that's already written kind of like the friendly professional concise you can do that up here so if I just say you know to do the opposite of what I have selected it will basically just tell me the opposite of this and it will replace that so you can see what that looks like there of course inside of the Notes application that's the same way so we go up here and we go into our writing tools and go to describe your change so if I say write this in a mean tone it will rewrite that text in a more mean tone so it says in a pathetic little Coastal Village and so on so you can see kind of how that works and once again I just find that to be really good for changing up the tone if I'm looking for something a little bit more specific than friendly professional or concise and by the way if you're wondering about these Advanced capabilities right here where it says daily limit keep in mind that even if this ends up saying over limit if you go over the advanced capabilities limit you can still use chat GPT so it's only going to switch you over to the more basic version for up to 24 hours so it might not even be the full 24 hours but honestly the likelihood of you using the advanced capabilities a lot on a daily basis are very very small so I would not really pay attention to this whatsoever it's not really going to impact most people and the people that it will impact are most likely already going to have a chat GPT Plus account and you know that limit's not going to even apply to them and if you're really curious I did sent out a newsletter a few weeks ago where I described in detail how the limits work with chpt integration and I will also have a video coming up soon on chat BT integration on the iPhone and it will explain the differences between the models in that videos if you want to know the nitty-gritty just stay tuned for that video or check out that article I will leave it linked down in the description below but most people you won't even need to worry about the daily limit at all now also in Mac OS AOA 15.
2 we have access to the image playground so this is an application that's meant to create original images with AI so this is a big focus on animated images you're not going to get super realistic images however you can do that with chat GPT the integration here so I'll go back to this for a second so if I type in make a realistic image of a black cat on Halloween and I put that in it will use Dolly and chat GPT to come up with a more realistic image so that one's not super realistic but you get the point the image playground images are a lot more animated and that's kind of the point so you can see these are all ones that I've already previously created but if you want to create a new one you just click on the plus right here you will get this new splash screen telling you about it so let's go ahead to continue and this works the same as on the iPhone so I will give you give you some suggestions down here for people and environments but you could also choose a person so if you go right here it will load up everybody in your camera roll and you can choose a person to get started so I'll just choose myself and it'll pull up different images where you can choose a starting point so whatever kind of Avatar here looks most similar to you you can select I think that maybe this one right here looks most similar to me so we'll go ahead and click on done on that one and that gives us a starting point and then from here you can add in your suggestion so if you want to be in the mountain you can select that if we go over you can have it be a party we'll do one more let's just do royalty for example actually let's do race car driver and royalty let's see how this turns out you can make some really funky looking images with this but it's pretty cool you can get basically endless variations of this if you keep clicking over you will see the different variations and you can also right click right here if you want to save that image on the Fly you can click also to go out and see everything if you want to retract one of these so if I don't like the crown I don't like the royalty let's go and click on the minus on that and it will eliminate it and create a new image for me right here and I like the look at that a little bit better but I don't like the background so let's change up the background I'll remove mountains and then go over here there we go that looks cool and you could also change the animation if you want it to be an illustration instead of an animation you can do that right there and you could also reference that made me look like 30 years older than I am but that is an option and you do also have your photos right here where you can click on that and you can reference a photo or take a photo and use that now you can also describe an image so if we erase everything out of here including myself we can just describe something from scratch so I put in a black cat riding a lawn mower being trailered by a sports car that would be quite the image let's go ahead and see what it comes up with that prompt so there we go so you can pretty much create whatever you want and this is really cool because there are no limits to this so with chat gbt you might run into limit issues with Dolly image creation but you can create as many images as you want here within the image playground and it's pretty fun I have to admit it's pretty fun you may not use it every single day but it is pretty awesome especially when it comes to creating little animated photos of everybody in your camera role and although we don't have gin emoji on Mac OS 15. 2 if you click on the plus right here in the messages app we now have an image playground option and this allows you to pull up the images you've created using image playground or you can click on the plus to create a new one in line right here in messages an image playground is also built into the free Form application so if you click on the photos icon up here we now have image playground and this once again just like with messages will allow you to create an image from scratch inside of the free Form application and what's cool is you can just drag photos in so it's a lot easier to reference photos on Mac OS compared to something like iOS now aside from Apple intelligence we do also have some other nice new features here in Mac OS aoia 15. 2 and the first one is already up here in my menu bar so if you go up here you can see I have the weather so it shows the currenta weather right there and if we click on that it will actually give us a little interface here that shows us some really cool details City it shows us the temperature to the right over here it shows us it's clear and the high and the low temperatures we have our hourly and then we also have some of our other cities down here as well and we do have other locations where you can pull in other locations and we have a quick access to open up the weather application and I will tell you right now this has already earned a permanent spot in my menu bar maybe it's just because I love weather and knowing you know Thea that's coming up but I love this and the UI is terrific so that is not there by default you do need to go into your settings so if we go into our settings go into Control Center and then go all the way down to the bottom to the section that says menu bar only and from here we have a brand new option for weather so this is off by default it just says don't show in menu bar just change that to show in menu bar and then it will show up right there and of course if you want to move this you can just hold the command key and move that over to wherever you would like and we also have a change in Safari so if you go into Safari and go to the start page and then go down to edit in the bottom right corner we now have new background images for our safari start page so this is on iOS and on Mac OS so there are some pretty nice ones I like this one a lot and this is great if you want to add a fresh new look to your start page in Safari and you can see there are multiple here you will have to download them when you first install the update also in Safari we now have the option to import and exports browsing data so if maybe you switched over from Google Chrome and you're coming full-time to Safari you can import all of your browsing data from chrome using this option right here and likewise you could also do it for exporting if you want to switch to a different browser you can export all of your browsing data and import it on that other browser and speaking of wallpapers we also have new desktop wallpaper so if you go into your settings and go to wallpaper and then go down to the bottom where it says pictures we now have the new M4 iMac wallpaper so these are the default wallpapers that came on the recently released M4 iMac and you now have access to these on every machine not just the iMac there's a really handy new option for mission control so if you go into your settings and you go down to desktop and Dock and go all the way to the bottom you'll see that we have a brand new toggle for drag Windows to top of screen to inter mission control so if we take my Safari window here and go to the top of the screen and keep pushing up you can see that you'll now have access to Mission Control and you can add this to a different desktop if you would like to that makes it really convenient and really easy if you're somebody who uses mission control often and it's also really handy because it does not interfere with window snapping at the top of the screen anymore and I think that's only because I do have this option disabled to drag Windows to menu bar to fill screen so if I wonder if I had both of these enabled so if I do that and you can see okay so you do have to go up a little bit further here to access that so you can have both of those enabled at the same time and they do two different things so this you know gives you the outline to go into full screen but if you keep pushing up on your mouse you can go into Mission Control right there Mac OS AOA 15.
2 has also revamped AirPlay so now if you're trying to airplay to say an Apple TV for example you now get the option to share not only your full screen like before you had to just share your entire screen now you can share only a specific window or app or you can select extended display and this will come in handy if you only want to share a specific window or app when you are airplaying that way you don't potentially embarrass yourself with something else that might pop up in the podcast application we have a new section over here for categories just like we do on iOS and iPad OS so in here you get your different categories for your podcasts and you can go into these so for example if you go into technology it will show us the technology podcast right here that I'm subscribed to and also the top shows in that category so it shows my shows right here these two and then also shows the top shows in that category like The all-in Lex Freedman podcast all of those along with all these other options down here and you can also add favorite category so you can see this one is already favored but you can favor that right there and then right here with these three dots you have the option to undo that favorite you can manage your favorite categories you can share it and of course you can report a concern and if you go into edit this is the interface that you get for managing your categories if you want to add something as a favorite or take it out you have the option to right there and you could also access that on the main categories page right here this manage text will take you to that same section and I think this is great for Discovery because it's really hard to discover new podcasts and I think this will kind of open the doors a little bit to maybe people finding out more about podcasts they might like now we also have the same find my feature that you see in iOS and iPad OS 18. 2 so if you go to one of your items or your air tags and you click on the I if you scroll down we have the new lost air tag section where you can show your contact info but the new feature here is share item location so if you click on that it will get this popup right here and if you go to continue this will allow you to get a link that you can share with a trusted party or an airline so apple is actually partnering with more than 15 Airlines and they're going to be able to find your lost luggage easier because they'll be able to see your air tag in real time on a map inside a safari when they use this link right here and if you go into show contact info this screen right here is new as well and this interface is slightly tweaked but the feature itself is not new and also you can now use iPhone mirroring while using your iPhone as a hotspot for your Mac so if your iPhone is providing Wi-Fi for your Mac you can now use iPhone mirroring before you could not and in the TV and music applications we now have the ability to use natural language to search for something that we're looking for so for example I typed in Harrison Ford 1990s films and it will show me some of those films from the 9s that star Harrison Ford and over here for music if I type in something like chill 9s music it will show me music right up top here that are from that specific year that I specified in the stocks application you can now see pre-market pricing if you're an Apple news plus subscriber and you go to the puzzles section you have a new Sudoku game right here so if you like playing that you now have the ability to if you are a subscriber and if we take a look at the Safari 18. 2 release notes you can see we have several new features in here so a lot of these are going to apply mostly to developers so things like new CSS features we have new JavaScript features we have new forms that are supported but something else interesting down here is underneath of media so we now have support for viewing spatial photos in Safari and vision OS there's also added support for spatial video as a developer preview in safari in Vision OS and then we also have some other things related to images right here and also added support for allowing websites to override the system default accessibility caption styling we also have some really interesting security features here so it says added a warning when connecting to a website over an insecure connection and right below that it says added support for automatic fallback to http if an https connection or request fails and also Al it says changed to prefer https navigations by default and then as far as the security updates go we do have quite a few security patches with Mac AOA 15.
2 as you can see from the list right here now thankfully none of these were being actively exploited but of course it's always a good idea to update your Mac just so you are as secure as possible so that is Mac W AOA 15.
