Hey everybody, it's Aria and welcome back to my YouTube channel. In today's video, I will teach all of you hotel vocabulary at the best hotel in Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Marriott at River Center. I will show you how to check in, what a normal room looks like, different amenities like the pool and the gym, as well as how to check out in a hotel.
Now, let's drive to the hotel. The first thing you do when you arrive is park your car. Many hotels have a parking lot where you park your car yourself or they have valet parking.
Valet parking is a special service. Someone who works at the hotel parks your car for you. It's easy because you don't have to find a parking spot, but it usually costs extra money.
Welcome to Marriott. Will you be staying with us today? Yes.
All right. Would you like to valet the vehicle then? Sure.
Yes. And a first name? Ariana.
All right, Miss Ariana. Here's your valet ticket. that the way this works, all you got to do is just scan that QR code or text that phone number there using your phone.
And how much will it be per night? It'll be about $42 overnight. 24/7 service, unlimited in-n-out.
And so every time you go in and out, there's no extra charge. Thank you so much. Yep.
My name is Grant. I'll be taking care of your vehicle as well as your luggage today. Would you like any help with your luggage?
Sure. Yeah, I have it in the back. Ariana, all I need is those keys from you and we'll get you taken care of.
Here you go. Thank you. The lobby's going to be on the first floor on level L in those elevators there.
Thank you so much. Enjoy your stay. Thanks.
I just dropped off my car with the valet and now it's time to go upstairs to the lobby. Now I'm in the hotel lobby. Yes, this is the lobby and over here is the front desk area where you can check in and check out.
Hi. Hi. How are you?
Good. How are you? Good.
Welcome to the Marian. How may I ask this to you? I'd like to check in, please.
Okay. And the last name of your reservation? Lringa.
Lringa. How do you spell that? L A G R I N G A.
All right. Miss Lingringa, I have you here for two nights. I'm going have you in a balcony king room.
Let me get a peek at your driver's license and the credit card that you want to provide. Okay. Thank you.
All right. Here's that back. Thank you.
Okay. I'm going actually have you tap your credit card on this machine right here. Okay.
Awesome. Thank you. Two room keys.
Okay. for you. Just one is fine.
Okay. And then why do you take my credit card? That is to make sure that I have an actual credit card that will go through with the process of your reservation.
If I didn't take your card, then I can't use the card on file cuz I'm going to have to ask you for the right one. I have your room key here. I have you on fourth floor.
Here at this property, we have room service. We also have a swimming pool, a club, which you will have access to. It is open from 6:30 a.
m. for breakfast. In the evening, we have a hot appetizer from 5:30 to 10.
The closest elevator to your rules would be if you go down this hallway here, you'll take a left and then you'll take the glass elevator up. Enjoy your stay. Thank you.
My pleasure. When you check in or basically when you tell the hotel that you are here, you will then get your room key and your room number. The process of checking in is very easy.
You just need to give your name, ID or passport, a credit card, as well as the reservation or booking number. If you made a reservation or a booking, that means you've reserved a room in the hotel weeks or months [Music] prior. Sometimes if you have a lot of bags or luggage, you might want to transport them on a luggage cart, but it doesn't make any sense for me to put one small suitcase on the luggage cart because I don't have more bags.
But this is nice because you can bring it down to the lobby, go up in the elevator with it, and drop off your bags in your room. If you're someone that doesn't know where their hotel room is, like me right now, you might have to go next to this sign and just check it out. My room number is 413.
So, it's going to be that way. I've arrived to my room 413 and I have to use a key card. This is a key card to open the door.
I will just tap it here and let's check out the room. Oh, wow. This looks like a very nice double room.
It's a room for two people with a nice big bed. This is a king-size bed. Hotels have single rooms for one person, twin rooms for multiple beds, or even a suite, which is basically a large room that might have a living space or a living room.
But first, let's try out the bed. Wow, this bed is so comfortable. You can see the basic amenities or the useful services or things in the room or in the hotel.
For example, there is a nice bed, a desk to work at. Hello. There's a television or TV where you can watch movies or TV shows.
And if you want to switch a channel or a show, you can just use the remote control. And down here, they have a mini coffee bar. Yes.
Where you can make coffee. They have plastic coffee cups, coffee beans, and a coffee maker or a coffee machine. And over here, they even have an ice bucket, two bottles of water, two plastic cups, and a card that says, "Say thanks.
Tip your housekeeper with shiny. " So, you can scan this QR code and tip the housekeeper. A housekeeper is the person in the hotel that cleans all of the rooms.
You can call them housekeepers or the maid service. And down here, if I open up this cabinet, let's see what they have. Oh, they have a mini fridge, but it's empty.
So, in some hotels, they will actually have beverages like pop, water, Sprite, etc. and sometimes food inside of the mini fridges, but that's called a mini bar. And if you eat the food in the fridge or if you drink the pop or soda, then you have to pay for it.
That'll be extra. So that's why when you check in the hotel, they will ask for your credit card because if you do eat a piece of chocolate in the fridge or if you do drink a Coca-Cola, they will charge you for it. Also, they might ask you for a deposit, which means you have to put money down.
maybe $100 up to $500 and you will get charged for this. But if you don't break anything in the room, they will return that deposit once you check out. All of these things are called incidentals.
They are extra cost besides the room. They cost more money like the mini bar as well as room service where food will be delivered to your room. You can actually call room service by just dialing up a number and you can order breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Also, in the room, they have outlets or sockets where you can plug a charger and charge your phone. But in some countries, you might have to use an adapter because the outlets or the sockets might be different. Now, if you think this room looks good, just wait until you see the view.
Yes, I booked a room with a view of the city. Let's go check it out. If you've been watching my videos and if you've subscribed to my channel, you probably know where I live.
Let me know down below in the comments what city I live in. If you guessed Cincinnati, you're right. So, now let's explore the city.
But first, I'm going to take an Uber to the train museum. My Uber's here. Hi.
Can you park next to the front entrance so I don't have to walk a lot? Have a good day. What?
I'm asking if you can drop me off over there so I don't have to walk a lot. Me speak little English. America is a big country with millions of people.
So, it's common to encounter people who don't speak English. But this is why having a little tech help can make a huge difference. I want to show you something I've been using.
These are the Aerofit 2 earbuds from Soundcore. They're awesome openear earphones with four adjustable ear hook positions for tailored comfort. It has thunderous bass thanks to bass turbo.
Plus, it's high-res wireless certified for really detailed audio. The sound quality is amazing for music or podcasts. And the best part for us language learners is the AI face-to-face translation.
It offers realtime accurate translation. And the translation is completely free and it's available on the Soundcore app. First, log into the app and activate translation.
Hey, can you drop me off at the front entrance so I don't have to walk a lot? Okay. Okay, no problem.
I'll leave it in front of the entrance. Thank you very much. Have a good day.
These earbuds are amazing for travel, making it super easy to translate conversations, whether you're asking for directions or ordering food. but they're especially useful for people who have just moved to the US and need to catch important information. These earbuds are super comfortable and you can wear them all day while traveling so you don't miss out on any announcements and you have accurate real translation.
Soundcore gave me a special code for you guys. If you use the code case for me, Soundcord will send you a free travel case which is perfect for keeping your earbuds safe. The link is in the description box down below.
Now, let's head back to the [Music] hotel. And over here is the thermostat which controls the temperature. So if you want AC or cool air, you can turn it on.
Or if you want to heat up the room, you can turn the heat on. And finally, the bathroom. It's on suite, which means it's directly connected to the bedroom.
Let's go check it out. I'm in the bathroom. Here you might find some toiletries like some hand lotion, hand soap, as well as shampoo and conditioner.
And under the sink, you might find some towels, washcloths, some extra toilet paper, as well as a hair dryer, or a blow dryer. This is very important for women, and finally, a decent size shower with a nice shower head, a glass shower door, and they don't have many toiletries. They actually have the full size shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, which is really nice.
And to finish off this room tour, let's check out what's behind me. A closet. I'm opening the closet doors.
And wow, it's pretty spacious. There's a safe where you keep jewelry or a passport. And there's a little code you have to put in.
And they have some hangers where you can hang up some clothes. But honestly, when I go to a hotel, I just keep everything in my suitcase. They also have an ironing board, an iron, and this is a great place to store my luggage or my suitcase.
And now, let's check out what other amenities this hotel has. Many hotels have great places for their guests. Now, let's head down to the pool.
This hotel has 15 floors, but to get to the pool, we have to go to the P level or the lobby. And of course, if you want to use any amenity in the hotel, you need to have a guest key card. To enter, I just tap and it'll let me open the door.
And let's check out the pool. Wow, this pool is huge. It's very long.
And this is an indoor pool. But if you visit a hotel in a different state like Florida, Texas, or even California, where the weather is warm all year round, you might find outdoor pools in those hotels. But in places like New York, Chicago, up north, like Cincinnati, Ohio, you might find indoor pools because the weather gets cold in the winter.
I'm not going to go for a swim right now, but if you want to learn more about pool vocabulary, go ahead and check out this video on my YouTube channel. Another amenity that this hotel has is a fitness center. Yes, a gym.
Let's check it out. I'm in the gym and they have so many different exercise machines. You can lift weights and this really makes you stick to your routine.
Of course, after you work out on a machine, don't forget to wipe down everything. And then over here, they even have some lotion, tissues, and even headphones that you can use while you're working out. Here are some more towels and a scale.
Let's check my weight. How much do you think I weigh? Let me know in the comments.
Now I am in the upper atrium terrace where you can see all of the floors in the hotel. Sometimes they have events here. So that's why they have a bunch of food on the table.
But below this atrium there's a restaurant. Let's go check it out. If you're hungry or thirsty, in this hotel, you can go to the restaurant and grab a bite to eat.
This is the menu, but next to the restaurant, they have a bar. This is the same restaurant where you can order room service. So, on the menu, you can order an appetizer, sandwiches, soups, and salads, as well as flatbreads, and my favorite part, dessert.
Some hotels might offer breakfast. You might have to pay for it or it might be included with your room. That's called a complimentary breakfast.
Here they have the complimentary breakfast with the M Club. I just need to use my key card and walk inside. Let's go check it out.
This is where you will receive a complimentary breakfast. Unfortunately, it's closed because breakfast runs from 6:30 a. m.
up until 10:00 in the morning. This is where they will serve eggs, pancakes, and sausage, as well as some drinks. But they do have some snacks left over from breakfast.
So, I will grab an apple. And over here is the coffee bar. You can make some coffee, grab some water.
There's also some pop and you can also make some tea. This is a great place to work and relax, but I will use my time wisely and edit a couple of videos. Now it's getting late and I think it's time to go to bed.
I will open the door and I'm going to put that do not disturb sign. That way the housekeeping won't knock on my door really early in the morning. I'll see you guys tomorrow.
What time is it? Oh my gosh. It's time to check out.
Before I leave my room, I'm going to check if I've left anything in here. I have my backpack. My suitcase is over there.
I'm going to check the bathroom. Everything looks good. Now, let's get out of here.
Now, it's time to check out in the lobby. Check out is when you pay for your stay and then you leave. There is a check-in time and a checkout time.
The normal checkout time is around 10 to 11:00 a. m. , but to check in is around 4:00 p.
m. And what is the process like? Well, to check out, you first need your key card.
You can't forget this. Then you will head to the lobby and go towards the front desk and talk with an employee. Sometimes you can check out later.
That's called a late checkout, but you have to ask the employees there if it's accepted because remember, you check out early around 10 or 11:00 a. m. That way, Housekeeping can clean your room and make it nice and ready for the next guest.
How you going? Good. How are you?
I'm doing well. How can I help you? I'd like to check out, please.
Perfect. What's your room number? 413.
All right. How was everything? It was amazing.
Perfect. Well, thanks for staying with us. Let me grab that for you.
And would you like a printed copy of your receipt? No, thank you. All right.
We'll take that from you and then safe travels till next time. Thank you. All right.
Okay, everybody. That's all for today's video about hotel vocabulary. And thanks again to the Cincinnati Marriott at River Center for allowing me to record this video.
If you guys liked this video, give me a like and subscribe. And I'll see you guys next week. Bye.
