Video Transcript:
Hey there, person! Are you okay? Look if you're here watching all my videos, I bet you're learning a lot of cool stuff.
I've already talked about communication, I've already talked about the importance of our dear and beloved communication and today, no less important, but necessary, let's talk about what the elements of communication are. Stay there and find out! If this is a subject that interests you, you are here in the right place.
I'm Eliane Terrataca And this one is a channel precisely for the communicators on duty. So I'm going to start our chat here by putting the dots on the "is". In this video here I will not talk about how the communication process happens.
This is another subject. Here we are going to talk about the elements that make up communication. We have six basic elements, okay?
That thing well summed up. The basics of communication are made up of six main elements . The first one, there is no order there, but we have the sender, who is the person who speaks, the person who sings, the person who writes, the person who dances, the person who photographs etc.
This is the sender. We also have the receiver, which is the person who is going to watch a presentation, who is going to read a book, read a letter, watch a TV program, see a photograph, an exhibition, whatever. It's the receiver.
And these two main characters exist because the idea is not to talk to yourself, because whoever talks to himself is not communicating, even if you talk to yourself, you have to talk to someone. So we have the sender and the receiver Is it clear? And what do they exchange between them, right?
What is a sender. . .
What is the sender's goal with this receiver? It's getting a message across! I was sure you knew the answer!
:) And this message, we can understand it as the final product of the communication, more or less right, but it is the result of the communication process. It's not even a result, right. It is the tool of the communication process, a message.
We communicate to get a message across. So here you already understand the three elements of communication. I had said there are six, I have already said three, the sender, the receiver and the message.
The sender builds his message in a way that he thinks is more suitable for the receiver to absorb what he wants, for him to achieve his goal, he will transmit a message in the way he wants. But it needs to convey this message following two basic elements of communication: which is the channel and the code The channel can be understood in a very basic way as everything you can get, what is tangible, but not everything, because it has channels virtual as well, but basically anything you can touch and pick up can be understood as a channel. Which is the television, your cell phone, a book you are reading, a newspaper, the blackboard that the teacher writes, the powerpoint screen there that we project in the meeting room to show, it can also be understood as a channel.
And it is precisely this channel that will deliver, transmit the message that the sender wants. The code is a little harder to understand, because it's not something physical. He's more in the world of ideas, we can put it that way.
So you can't take it in your hands, because the code will represent your idea, it will build your message and it represents an idea. It could be a sound, it could be a color, it could be a type of lighting, it could be a specific letter , it could be the language. The Portuguese language here, for example, is the code I'm using to talk to you, because I'm not speaking English, Italian, or Chinese.
I am using Portuguese language code . If I wanted, I could, right, communicate with deaf people, I would be here doing the sign language, right, the famous Libras. A blind person who is going to read a book takes that little book or newspaper in the braille system, which is also a code.
So everything that is in the world of ideas, what you can interpret, in short, is the code that we use to create our message. And for communication to be totally efficient, everything I said here needs to happen within a referent. The referent is precisely the context, the reality that the sender and receiver share, the moment, the subject, all this is referent.
And the referent can be the most important thing you need to pay attention to so that your communication happens efficiently, because communication failures usually happen, there are several other reasons, but they can also happen because the people involved, the sender and the receiver, they are not sharing the same context, they are not connected to the same subject there at the moment. An example: I'm talking here about the channel, which is one of the elements of communication. You already understand what the channel is.
Now, if we are going to talk about a canal with a dentist, the meaning is different. If I talk about a channel with a person who works in television, the meaning is different, because TV Globo and sbt, tv record, whatever it is, it doesn't, it doesn't represent the channel as a communication element, right? So to recap here.
. . There are six basic elements of communication.
We have the sender, the receiver, the message, which is constructed through codes, transmitted by a channel, and all this within a referent. To exemplify even more: I am playing the role of sender transmitting my message to you who are there watching me. You are my receiver, the person I produce this video for.
The message is the set of all that you are hearing here and seeing as well. The channel is your computer, your cell phone, your smart TV, I don't know where you're watching it. So channel is this equipment you are using to watch this video.
And the codes here are many, like any communication process , and there are countless codes we use to communicate: the Portuguese language, as I mentioned, is one of the codes I'm using, the colors I use in the visual elements , which I put here in the video, is a communication code. We don't do it, at least I don't put anything here for nothing, everything has a perfect sense, a goal to be achieved. The sounds too, there are sound effects that I'll add when it's possible to put in the videos, it's also a communication code.
And the referent is the main subject of the video, which is the communication elements. This is our referent. I'm the broadcaster, you're the receiver, the message is everything you've learned, the code is everything you're looking at and translating in your head to understand what I'm saying, and the referent is the subject of the video.
Now do me a favor? Tell me that here in the comments space if it was clear or if you have any questions, that I will try to help in the best possible way. I spoke very briefly here because otherwise we will spend hours talking about it.
And specifically on the subject of code, I didn't even want to go into semiotics, because then my dear, when we talk about semiotics, the animal will catch on! ! But I hope you understand.
Sign in the channel, active notifications, leave your comment communicative wonderful and I hope you in the next video!
