This video will show you 18 new ways to use AI to write research papers for Q1 Scopus index journals ethically and without plagiarism. Just before we get to these 18 strategies, I want to reveal to you six simple rules you need to follow when writing papers using AI so that you never again have to worry about plagiarism or AI detection. And these six rules are based on the guidelines of the biggest publishing houses such as Springer and the best universities out there.
So number one, you should use AI only to improve the readability of your text. See AI as a proofreader or an editor. It can help you make the text flow better, improve the language, but you should not use AI to write the text for you, which is point number two.
Because using AI to write text for you is like paying somebody to write the paper for you, just not cool and not ethical. Number three, use AI to brainstorm ideas. Think of it as a colleague who's incredibly knowledgeable about your field and who's available 24/7 to answer questions and who can give you answers within seconds.
Number four, always verify AI output. Don't just blindly trust what AI algorithms spit out for you, but you have to use your research knowledge to filter that and verify it. Number five, you must draw your own conclusions.
AI can of course give you suggestions, help you to brainstorm ideas just like your supervisor might or colleagues in your lab might, but neither your supervisor nor your colleagues nor AI should be used to draw conclusions or make suggestions for future research or draw implications for practice. You need to do that yourself. And finally, number six, if you really want to publish papers in very good journals, you need to make your own figures, your own images.
And AI cannot be used for that. Now that we've got these six rules and we know how to avoid plagiarism when using AI, let me show you the 18 new ways in which you can use AI to write research papers completely ethically for Q1 Scopindex journals. And let's first start with how to generate topics for new papers.
So I'll start with two amazing AI tools that you can use to find new research topics. And the links for all those tools that I'm going to be sharing with you and discount codes are available in the description to this video. So first one is Scypace and it has this feature of finding topics.
So you can of course type the topic that you're interested in here to find new angles on it. But I will just use one of the suggestions from here. So let's go for efficient materials for solar panels.
Right? So AI is going to do its magic and basically spit out many different ideas that you could pursue. First of all, um it gives you a summary of current research on this topic which then can spark ideas for new topics, but then it also gives you topics in here.
And then it provides sources for why these topics are a good fit. And moreover, it gives you references which is great. So basically what you can do is then verify the AI output.
Remember one of our six principles for using AI ethically to check if those topics are actually make sense. But this is a great first start and Sidpace does it in just 10 seconds or less. A second tool that you can use for that is Avid note.
So what avid node can do for you is generate research questions based on your input. So the only thing that you have to do here is describe your research in detail and then AI will give you really good research questions. So that's perhaps more advanced and a later stage than size but nevertheless I wanted to show it to you.
Now the second way in which you can use AI is to find research gaps much much faster. Previously, this could take an incredibly long time where you had to sift through hundreds and hundreds of papers to find limitations, lack of research, and suggestions for future research and so on. But there's a much faster and a much better way to do that.
For example, with SciPace, what you can do is either conduct a traditional literature review and start your query here. But what I would actually recommend is that you upload papers to the library in here. You can also import them from Zotro.
And then what you're going to do is select all of those papers, hit the but the chat button and start asking it questions like for example, what are the limitations of these papers and then scpace is going to give you an answer to that. Another thing that that you can do is create columns in here to at a glance see for example what are the limitations of these papers? What are suggestions for future research?
What are the aims of that study? So that you can identify maybe a lack of research. And you can see that at a glance you will have the limitations of those papers and suggestions for future research.
So rather than sift manually through hundreds of papers, you can do that in a matter of just a couple of minutes. Another great tool that you can use to find the research gap is consensus. Because what consensus is going to give you as the name suggests is whether there is or there isn't consensus research consensus on a specific issue.
And one type of a research gap especially if you're doing a review paper but it can also work for an experimental paper is when researchers basically disagree on a specific issue or there is a lack of consensus. So similarly to size you could actually upload papers in here which is probably recommendable because then consensus can actually read the PDFs and it's working with the documents that you know are the most relevant. But you could also just um type in a yes or no question.
For it to work it's got to be a yes no question and then consensus will sift through the available literature and give you an answers. So for example let's look at this question. Does zinc help with cold symptoms?
And straight away here that you can see that the results are pretty mixed because 47% of studies say yes. 7% possibly 20% have mixed results and 27% say no, zinc does not help with cold symptoms. So there's something off in here which gives your study an opportunity to solve this problem.
So that's how you can very quickly find research gaps with AI. Now the next thing that AI can help you do is generate the right keywords for your literature review. Because if you want to find topics and write papers, you will have to first read the literature.
And the first step is of course to find the right keywords. And if you find the wrong ones, well then everything will take so much longer. And of course, can you come up with those keywords yourself?
You can, but it will be more timeconuming. So let's see how AI can help us with it. So we're going to use Avid notes for this.
And remember that the links and discount codes for all these AI tools that I'm sharing with you are in the description. So you go to the method in AI templates and then you go to keywords for literature search and then you need to describe your study in a lot of detail. So what I'm going to do here is just paste the aim of a previous paper that I already published.
But obviously the more detail you provide AI, the better the answer is going to get. And then you probably you don't need 500 words for this. Maybe we're just going to have, you know, 20 words here because we don't want too many keywords.
Okay? And then we generate the text and AI is going to come up with the right keywords for the literature search and you've got them in here. Now, again, like with everything, is this always perfect?
Well, probably not, but it's a fantastic start rather than this would have taken you probably, even if you're very good at it, probably like 5 hours. Well, now you've got it in 5 seconds and probably in the next 30 minutes, you can go through this and verify this and correct it to be 100% right. Now, the next thing that AI can help you do is read the literature so much faster, it's not even funny.
So, the all the days when you had to read papers yourself, all of them from start to finish are over. In the same way that the old days in which you had to go to the library and sift through hundreds of books covered in dust before you found the book you were interested in are almost over as well. So we'll use Avid Node as the first example.
So you can upload papers here to Avid Node. I'll just open one of the papers that I've previously uploaded. And then what you want to do is click here AI chat with the document.
And what Avid Node is going to give you is questions about this text, generic do document questions. So for example, maybe you want to quickly know what was the research question or what was the theoretical background or maybe you're interested in suggestions for future research. Okay?
And what I really like about Avid Note is that it's going to also give you specific document questions based on the analysis of this uploaded document. So this will speed up your reading so much it's not even funny. Now another great tool for that is Scyace and you already saw how you can upload papers in here and chat with multiple papers.
You can also do the same with the with the literature review. If you type a query in here, Sciencepace will spit out a summary of the most recent research on that and then it will give you bullet points summaries of the different sections of each of those papers which I think is fantastic. And then you can also chat with individual PDFs just like you would um in with Avid note where you can ask any questions that you want.
And um Syepace will also give you predefined questions to speed things up even further for you. Now that you've found the right text, what you might need to do is generate the right theoretical framework. And one great AI tool that can help you with that is Avid Node.
So when again we go to AI templates and we go to method and then we click here on suggest theoretical framework. You want to describe your study in detail. I'll just paste the aim of one of my previous studies to see what Avid Node produces.
And we can leave 1,500 words. That's probably too much for a theoretical framework. And let's generate the text.
And what Avid Note is going to do here is analyze all the literature it has available to it and then give you potential options for the theories that you could use. And what I really like about it is that it doesn't just give you one potential theoretical framework, but it gives you several in here depending on, you know, the number of words that you allow it to use. And then it also shows you how you could potentially apply that theoretical framework.
And again, this saves you days, if not weeks, of really, really hard work. And straight away you have ideas. And if you're knowledgeable in your field, which you should be, then you can quickly look at those suggested theories.
And probably within the next day, figure out what's the most appropriate theory, read more about it using the tips that I've just shown you to speed things up even further, and then start writing your paper. Now the next thing that AI can help you do is choose the right methodology. Because after all, if you've got amazing research questions, you've done the literature review search, you've got your theoretical framework, well, what methodology are you going to use to collect your data?
And we can again use Avid Node for that. If we go to AI templates methods and then we can suggest Avid Node is going to suggest research methods for us. And again, I'm just typing the uh the same research question that I have from my previous papers.
And I'm going to generate um methods in here. And just like with the theoretical framework, what it's going to do is give you several options. So that's what I really like because it doesn't limit itself just to one thing, but it gives you several possibilities, which in fact might give you those Eureka light bulb moments where you go like, "Huh, I didn't think that was possible.
That's interesting. " And then you can explore that further. So this is really useful when you feel very stuck.
What might be the best way to approach this issue? How can I approach it from a different perspective that has not been done yet in my field? And it's likely that if you do this, Avid note might suggest things that maybe you would not have thought about or it would have taken you weeks to figure out on your own.
Now you've got your research method, time to design your research tools, but that can also be a very timeconsuming process. So again, we can rely on AI tools here, more specifically on Avid Note. And if we go to data section of AI templates, it can do several things.
For example, it can suggest interview questions or suggest survey questions. And if we go to one of those just as an example and generate text, we've got a whole interview basically lined out for us. And again, I'm not saying that you should copy and paste this.
In fact, I'm saying definitely please don't copy and paste this because that would be committing plagiarism. But what this does for you is it saves you days and days of really hard brainstorming and you immediately have ideas that you can quickly adapt to the purposes of your own research. And literally within a day, you might have the whole interview or survey lined out.
So, we've designed an awesome research tool. We've delivered the study. We've collected the data.
Now we have to analyze the data. And again, we can rely on our good old friend Avid Notes to help us with it. How are we going to do this?
Well, we're going to go to data section and then we can in different ways analyze the data. Okay. So, you can go here.
Um there's qualitative data. We can just copy and paste transcripts if you want to use grounded theory specifically. You can also define how to code your interview.
And you can also analyze the data with a specific framework in mind or extract data from a paper. Let's say you're doing a review paper or a meta analysis. Avid node will just extract the relevant data that you want to focus on in your review paper.
So there's a lot of ways in which Avid Node can speed up uh data analysis for you. Now you've got your data analyzed. What we need to do is start writing the paper.
And the first step where a lot of researchers suffer is how to structure everything to tell a coherent story. Sometimes you might be staring at a blank screen for hours thinking, well, what how should I structure my literature review? How to structure the introduction, the methodology, and each part of your paper.
Jenny can solve that problem in a matter of seconds. So, what I'm going to do is log in, create a new document. Okay.
Um, now I'll go for creative headings. I'll paste a prompt. You need to make that prompt as detailed as possible.
So tell Jenny what type of text you're writing. Is it an experimental paper, meta analysis, whatever else, how long it should be, what is the topic of that paper and all that kind of good stuff. And then we'll start writing.
And then Jenny generates an overall outline, but it's not very detailed. for whatever reason, we actually need to go to AI um chat and type in the the same prompt in here. And then you're going to get a way better outline for your paper, right?
Just look at how detailed this thing is with references and all the good stuff and lots of detail. And we're going to add it straight away into our document. Just just look at that.
Look at how detailed this is. So this solves something that might otherwise take you days if not weeks and it solves it in a matter of seconds. Now the next problem that I think a lot of researchers face when writing research papers is that you get stuck when writing because you know you want to find an idea.
You're lacking a definition of a specific concept. You don't know how to develop a specific idea. And that's where again Jenny can come to the rescue because if you're writing this, you could just ask Jenny any question.
For example, we'll just pull up a question from from here from the outline. Okay? And ask Jenny.
And what's going to happen is that Jenny is going to generate an answer for us. And if it has access to papers, if you also have uploaded papers to Jenny on that specific topic, it's also going to suggest references. Now again, remember you need to verify this AI output.
You know, this is not the ultimate truth, but again, if just think how much time this can save you and help you get unstuck. And a similar tool that can really help with that is paper pal. and it's a fantastic word plug-in that can also be used for generating research ideas while writing so that you get unblocked.
So what we will do here is go to research inside and ask paper pal a question. So just as an example I'm interested in native speakerism. So I can ask a question about it like what is the definition?
Okay. And PayPal is going to read papers including um any papers that you have uploaded to it and then provides you a definition with appropriate references. And so again, just notice how much time this saves you and you've got all the references so you can verify AI output and read more about it.
Now, way number 11 in which AI can help you to write research papers for Q1 journals is to edit your text and improve the quality of your writing. So, previously you would have to pay hundreds if not thousands of dollars for proofreading services. These days, you don't have to do this.
For example, a tool like PayPal is only $8 a month. And with that, it can edit your text and suggest changes. When you open any text in Paperpal, what it's going to do is first analyze the text and then prepare suggestions for you in terms of language and in terms of consistency.
And what I really like about it is that you can see kind of what the suggestion is and decide whether you want to accept or reject it. Whenever the mistake repeats itself, you can accept all of those changes with just one click of a button. So this feature can help you to proofread your text and save you thousands and thousands of dollars in potential proofreading text and helping you make your papers ready for Q1 journals.
Now that your text is ready for submission, you need to find the right journal. And again, can you do this manually? Of course you can.
But especially if you're just starting out, it can take quite a lot of time to sift through hundreds of journals in your discipline and decide which one is the right fit for me. So Avid Note again in here has you covered. If we go to the publish section of Avid Note, Avid Note can suggest a journal for you.
And in here you just want to describe your study in detail. And obviously the most detail you provide the better. So, what I'm going to do here is paste the abstract of my study, but you could literally paste the whole um text.
And you need to tell it which field you're you're interested in. So, I'll say linguistics. Okay?
And then the results, we don't need 500 words. We probably, you know, can limit ourselves like to 200 words. And then we'll generate the text.
And what it does is help you to first of all give you high impact journals. And by the way, these are real journals. It's not inventing stuff.
And for example, Chad GPT is well known for its hallucinations and inventing things that don't exist and pretending like they do. This is real stuff, real journals. And it also has quick response time and still good journals um in here.
So again, you know, this doesn't mean that you should definitely pick the number one journal on this list. You still want to go to the journals website and explore the scope and decide for yourself. But again, this cuts um the journey not even in half.
Something that would take you otherwise days just takes you a few seconds. Now you've got the right journal. What you need to do is prepare your paper to that specific journal.
And paper here can come for the rescue. So if you go to the template section, you can for example generate an abstract for your paper. And this is as easy as just having the text ready and then clicking on generate the abstract in here.
And in my experience of using paper pal, provided you have a full paper, the abstract will be pretty good. Will you have to change it and adapt it slightly to the requirements of that specific journal? For example, in terms of word count, of course, you will.
But again, this saves you hours. Other things that you will have to do is a title. So just by with one quick click of a button, PayPal can generate really good title options for you.
What it can also do is generate the keywords because when you submit the paper, you have to add top keywords. And the better the keywords, this can help with um citations because your paper might be more likely to come up in Google Scholar and other search engines. And when you're submitting a paper, you could also add a cover letter.
So if we go to email the journal in here, paper pal will write a cover letter. The only thing you need to do is add the details about the editor and shift, manuscript title, journal, author detail and so on. Now you've got your paper ready, all the documents to submit your paper.
But before you hit that submission button because you have been using AI tools throughout the whole process, what you want to make sure is that your text doesn't get flagged for AI generated text. we want to run it through an AI scan. And obviously there are lots of AI tools that can do that for you.
But I chose Syepace for the reason that we've already been using SciPace for so many other things. So why get yet another tool if you can use the same tool that you already know for this? The only thing is that it has a limit to 1,500 words.
So you might need to work in batches. But I'm just going to put the introduction of my paper in here and click on analyze. Okay.
And it says it's 14%. So if that wasn't a paper that had already been published, I would go with that and I wouldn't be worried about, you know, AI generated text. Now that we've ensured that there is no AI generated text, what we might want to do is run a plagiarism text.
And that's what PaperPal can do for us. If we go to the check section in here, we can do a plagiarism check section, right? Plagiarism check, excuse me, right here, which is run by Turn It In, which is the most popular software used by big universities and big publishing houses.
So, it really does guarantee the quality. So, you can upload your manuscript in here and paper will basically give you a really detailed report on how much, if any, plagiarism there is. Now that you've submitted the paper, it's got published, you might want to promote your paper if you want to increase your citations and position yourself as an authority in the field.
And Avid Note can really help you with that. For example, if we go to publish, you can write a Twitter Twitter thread about your paper. So, what I'm going to do here is paste the introduction to my paper and I'll limit the length to 500 words and generate text.
So, rather than come up with your own catchy tweets or you know things that you can maybe also use on LinkedIn and other social media, Avid Note does it for you within seconds. The second amazing way in which you can promote your papers is to create videos. But let's face it, not every researcher is comfortable in front of the camera, nor has the time and resources to make engaging videos about their papers.
And that's where again AI comes to the rescue. So, Sidespace has this amazing PDF to video uh feature that you can use. The only thing you need to do is upload your um your PDF and in just a few minutes, Syepace will generate a video and slides to promote your paper and we can watch that video right here and it's already formatted for different platforms.
Now, it doesn't really use your own voice, but that can be overcome because you can actually upload a sample of your own video yourself speaking and then Cypace will use that to generate all future videos so that it's actually you speaking even though it's actually AI, which is quite frightening quite frankly, but also incredibly useful if you want to promote your papers. So, now you've got an amazing paper that got published in an amazing journal. You've promoted it on social media.
You're getting citations. You're becoming an authority in your field. You might want to publish more papers, right?
But where are the ideas for those future papers? Again, Avid Note can come to the rescue. If we go to AI templates, publish, Avid Note can help you find ideas for new studies based on your reference list.
So, this is fantastic. If you've already written papers and published some, you can just paste the reference list in here and then Avid Node will analyze it and generate ideas based on that so that you can continue with a pipeline of high impact research topics. And what it even does is give you a potential abstract for that future paper, which I think is fantastic.
Now that you know how to use AI to write research papers for Q1 journals without plagiarism, let me show you stepby step how to publish your next paper in a Q1 Scopus index journal. And this will work even if it's your first paper or your previous paper got rejected.
