while the members of the church believe are you Christians we are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints the word Mormon church is a nickname we don't like nicknames we like to be called the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints because we are Christians this is his church some people see young men walking on the streets with white shirts and they tags who are they and what do they do I can't speak for all of them with white shirts and nametags but I'll tell you this our young male missionaries are dressed

nicely they want to be a credit to the community and they want to be worthy the message they're bringing because it's the message about the Lord Jesus Christ and some of our missionaries our lady missionaries you are a well-known physician around the world famous doctor you perform the first open-heart surgery and have developed the first artificial heart link machine as a doctor who believed in science where do God and science meet truth is truth whether it comes from a scientific laboratory or whether it comes as a revelation from God to his prophet truth is truth

and is never in contradiction with another confusion comes when there is lack of understanding of the truth of religion or the truth of science you have met with leaders around the world including the Pope what do you discuss with them and what what is the biggest concern worldwide I have a great respect for Pope Francis he and I resonated very well one with another together we lock arms in the care of the poor and the needy giving relief to humanitarian causes of course there are differences in theology and that's important but the things we have

in common is so much more important Brazil defends religions freedom what's the Church Fathers on that religious freedom is a protector of society it gives values it gives morals if you have no religious foundation for society if they have no belief in God they don't believe in right and wrong and you have a chaotic society so religion is like the ballast of a ship it gives it stability it keeps it from tipping over the church provides humanitarian service to and an organization stand it called helping hands why didn't our the Mormons always the first to

provide help and after a catastrophe our members are very generous they love God and they love their neighbors is there so these are the first two great Commandments and the way we show our love to God is by loving our neighbor when our neighbors are in distress we help they may have a yellow shirt and it may have the helping hands logo or it may be in the care of the poor it may be giving wheelchairs to those who are handicapped it may be bringing fresh water to a village by digging wells and making pipes

and conduits so wherever there's a need you can be sure the people of our church are willing to help and they're ready to help they do help I know you travel around the world and you turn 19 find soon how do you have so much energy I've never had a drink of alcohol I've never smoked a cigarette or a cigar or a pipe they do not drink tea or coffee I've always been obedient to our code of health which we call the word of wisdom statistically speaking members of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day

saints live longer than the societies at large why does the difference between these religions with others our religion differs from others in that we believe in God we believe in Jesus Christ we believe the Bible to be the Word of God we believe the Book of Mormon to be companion Scripture to the Bible it has a record of the Ministry of Jesus Christ to the people of North America Central America and South America in ancient times we also know that the authority to act in the name of the priesthood has been restored to the earth

so these are the fundamental differences that we have with other religious denominations there are many different types of families single moms single dads adoptive parents and couples that can have children why do you say to bring down hope the greatest hope comes to people when they have something to look forward to we will all have challenges in life great disappointments or sickness or injuries maybe even deaths in the family but one one when one has an eternal perspective and he knows that there's life after death that the resurrection is real that there are degrees of

glory on the other side of this mortal life then one can endure these challenges with a little more hope and great expectations we have the prospect of eternal life if we keep all of the commandments of God that is beyond imagination is so beautiful wonderful glorious what the main message that the Church of Jesus Christ want to share to the world what's a mission of the church we invite all to come until Jesus Christ live His commandments and receive the blessings that will give them joy in this life and eternal life in the life to

come how does that have a different from Pope the Pope and I have a nice relationship I pray for him and he prays for me we have differences of theology of course but the things we have in common the love of God the love of our neighbor and the walk the desire to help out where help is needed we share those and want to support one another we walk arm-in-arm with the Catholic Church on many humanitarian projects what does God have to say on the people offer you God loves the people of Brazil and the

people of Brazil have a great love for God and the love for Jesus Christ I admire the people of Brazil because I know that God has created them with a desire to know more about him and his ways of truth and righteousness you're a prophet how did you become a profit but the profit do well I studied to be a surgeon and then I helped to develop the field of heart surgery I was very busily engaged in the operating room one day when I received a phone call please come and see the profit of the

to the church tried to annihilate the Prophet the Prophet Joseph Smith they called him a Mormon it was a nickname and also an epithet which means not not a nice name so the enemies to the church promoted the name Mormon but we who are members of the church like to call it by the name of the Lord gave the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and so we are not called Mormons were called Latter day Saints in contrast to the saints of Jesus Christ who lived in former days what can you say for

the people who suffering in the wars ever since man came on the planet Earth he's had a tendency to dislike his neighbor every history book is a there's a history of a war and contention all throughout the Bible you read about the wars throughout the Book of Mormon you read of wars so that's what man will do to himself man's hatred for his fellow man that's why the message of Jesus Christ is so healing and so invigorating and so peaceful because it invites people to love their neighbor and to help their neighbor yeah there will

always be contention so you have these two competing forces the forces of contention and the forces of the Lord who favors peace so we're trying to be peacemakers you know I thought your methods these methods that's my message we're priests makers [Music] you
