Romans Chapter 6 verses 22 and 23 I'm going to read the texts today in the revised and updated Almeida, but whatever your version, you can follow along with us. The sacred text says this now, but freed from sin, transformed into servants of God, you have your fruit for sanctification and ultimately eternal life because the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord my God we beseech Once again grace and favor from on high we cry out for help, leadership, application that only your spirit, the
Holy Spirit of truth, can produce and that in that moment our mind receives more than information that our spirit is indeed enlightened that there is Revelation that there is spiritual understanding that there is personalized application of your word in the way that only the Lord can produce in us and from now on we give you Honor Glory and Praise for the certainty of what you will do We pray in the name of Jesus amen amen good in this text the apostle Paul he addresses something interesting I want to start by highlighting firstly the importance of
what I think it's about seeing the whole picture, right, when we talk about certain subjects, it can even be dangerous if you only see one aspect, a piece of that truth, but you don't see the whole picture, and before we talk about Sanctification, I believe it's worth highlighting that whether it's in experience of salvation whether in Sanctification we will find a biblical detail about what I would call the times of our experience Paul begins with the first two sentences saying the following freed from sin then transformed into servants of God the conjugation is in the
past tense in the past So we have already been freed we have been transformed he is talking about something that has already happened but then he says this way you have your fruit for sanctification other translations it says the fruit that you harvest right the fruit that you have And then this question of a fruit related to Sanctification is manifested in the present tense or combined in the present tense but he says and finally and here he is pointing forward to the future and finally eternal life so it doesn't matter if we are going to
talk about salvation if we are going to talk about Christian life of the process of sanctification these three times usually repeat themselves when you look at the conjugation of the application of salvation it also comes in the same three times in 151 the Bible says but we believe that we were saved by the grace of the Lord Jesus in first Corinthians 1: 18 the Bible says but for us who are saved Power of God so the first mention we were past the second present we are but in Romans 5:10 Paul says we will be saved
and he is pointing to the interesting future that in this text from Romans 5:10 Before of Saying we will be saved and says like this we were reconciled with God then he says much more, being already reconciled in the past we will be saved and it is important for us to understand these different times because they do not compete with each other the day a young man from my church said pastor it seems that I have the feeling that the Bible combines salvation in the past present future I said, it seems like that's not the
case, I remember he said to me, it's wrong, I said, the Bible is never wrong, creature, right, if there's someone wrong here, it's you, it could be me, but not the Bible and he said but it can't be the three times I said it couldn't if it were a single instantaneous experience So it would be located in a single time but like There's a part that has already happened this part that has already happened is conjugated in the past like There's a part that's happening this part that is happening is combined in the present but
there is still a part that will happen and this last part is reserved for the future and when we look at Christian life like this Just as we can highlight Past Present Future We can also say that life Christian has a beginning, middle and end in Philippians 1:6 Paul says he who began a good work in his own voice began it in the past and will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus, right the conclusion was Designed for the future and between past and future we have present between beginning and end we have the
middle if we also look at the statement of the Lord Jesus himself in Matthew 7, 13 and 14 he highlights a door and a narrow path that lead to eternal life so we like to say that the Christian life is based from door to door path and target What is the experience of the door is conversion and John in chapter 3 in verse 5 Jesus says if someone is not born again they cannot enter the kingdom of God the door is what determines the beginning of someone's entry in the kingdom of God, but after the
door, what we have is a path, what you and I call today, speaking of the collective of our faith, right about Christianity, at the beginning of the Christian era, in the New Testament, especially in the book of Acts, it was called the path so you will see expressions like this in Acts Chapter 9 verse 2 acts 19 verse 9 the Bible has always referred to our faith as the way in fact Isaiah prophesied saying there will be a holy way, right a way of salvation and when we begin to understand the language of path, she
talks about progression , she talks about development, but at the end of it there is something to be achieved, something to be achieved, right ? behind them they move towards those before me I proceed towards the target so there is a target to be achieved when we look at these stages of the Christian life they will match what I want to classify here in second place of the stages of Sanctification let me give an example of the race every runner knows that the race is subdivided into at least three distinct stages we have the start
we have the development and we have the finish line if the runner doesn't start well he has already committed everything but even if he starts well If he doesn't continue developing well in the race he has also compromised everything but even if he starts well he develops well if he doesn't cross the finish line it won't help and if you ask a runner which of these three parts is the most important he will probably laugh at the question because the three parts do not compete they complement each other all three are important all three are
necessary and together they form the vision of the whole and of the race so it makes no sense to treat them in an isolated, fragmented way But together they complement each other well in the race of Sanctification We also have the start, the development and the finish line or we can talk about the experience of the past, the present and the Future or we can call it the path and target or you may prefer to call it the beginning, middle and end but Whatever the nomenclature we are going to talk about exactly the same things
so since we are talking about the stages of Sanctification I want to use a nomenclature that is more common in the theological environment we will note that the process of sanctification also has three stages and we will call it stages of Initial Sanctification Progressive Sanctification and Final Sanctification the whole picture needs to involve the ability and perception on our part to see all these stages so for example in first Corinthians in chapter 6 and in Verse 11 the apostle Paul makes the following statement after us Previous verses he talks about people who committed all kinds
of sin he says Such were some of you but you were washed but you were sanctified but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and in the spirit of our God you were sanctified How long has this already passed? However, it happened first to the Corinthians in chapter 1 and verse 2, in those first words of the epic's initial greeting, and this is what the church of God that is in Corinth says to the sanctified in Christ Jesus, sanctified again, is conjoined in what past time, but this time he says to those
sanctified in Christ Jesus called to be Saints the pastor have been sanctified or still need to be both one part of Sanctification has already happened another is yet to happen so when we see this truth we cannot help but recognize that everything begins with conversion with an experience of Initial sanctification But this is not all that a believer can experience and according to Corinthians 7:1 the Bible talks about perfecting holiness in the fear of the Lord So if in that experience of conversion of Sanctification we had to experience everything that is possible to experience there
would be no need to improve but if there is improvement That means we haven't tried everything just the beginning the other day someone looked at me and said sir are you wanting to say that God doesn't have the power to sanctify us all at once, I said, no, I'm suggesting that he didn't want to do it like that because the Bible talks about a creation that involves seven days, I said, that means, then, that God didn't have the power to do it. at the snap of a finger he had it but he both had the
power to do it and had the choice not to do it and if he didn't do it he has his reasons if he didn't reveal his reasons it's not up to us to invent the explanation but it has nothing to do with being able to do has to do with understanding the way he explained that he preferred to act so that God decided to work with the stages of Sanctification. But in addition to this Initial and Progressive Sanctification we have an experience that we will classify as final sanctification in Romans 8:23 a The Bible says
that we are awaiting the redemption of the body in Philippians 3:2 21 the Bible says Our country is in the heavens where we await a Savior who will transform the body of our humiliation to be equal to the body of his glory So this advent of the transformation of the body we will see and understand as being the final Sanctification Someone very aptly said that in Initial Sanctification we are free from the condemnation of sin but in Progressive Sanctification we are free from the Power of the dominion of sin but in Final Sanctification we will
be free from The presence of Sin are very different aspects of the same work and they need to be understood. So let's start with Initial Sanctification. I'm going to be quicker here because the experience we've already had and perhaps of the three aspects, the one that the church talks about the most teaches about it. It all begins. in conversion when we speak Sanctification and it is an experience that is lived by faith in Acts in chapter 26 in verse 18 when the apostle Paul is witnessing his conversion Before King Agrippa he says that Jesus himself
told him the following in the previous verse the 17 Jesus said that he would send him to the Gentiles and in 18 God gives a reason to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to the light of the power of satan to God so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me is obviously talking about conversion opening their eyes then converting them from Darkness to the light of Satan's Power for God to receive remission of sins all this talks about the experience of conversion but
Jesus says in order for them to receive remission of Sins and inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me Sanctification begins with conversion and this in turn is an experience of faith Ephesians Chapter 2 verse 8 says by grace you are saved through faith so we really need to understand the nature of this work of Initial sanctification which is not everything that you and I can experience but it is necessarily the beginning the starting point in Ephesians in chapter 1 in verse 4 the Bible says that God elected us in him before the
foundation of the world to be Holy and blameless I I like to say that holiness is part of the Purpose of creation Holiness is not a secondary or peripheral issue in Christian doctrine it is the core of the purpose that God established for all humanity and when we convert by faith we begin to experience the materialization of this characteristic we can call not only the purpose but the provision that God has for me and you, however, it is important that we understand that although it begins with an experience of faith in conversion, it is not
limited to just what was experienced in conversion I I remember when I was still a boy listening to my father, who was a pastor, right until the last day of his life, Dad was always a dedicated student of the scriptures, a preacher, I remember when his boy was Preaching the message, honestly, I don't remember the whole message, but I was impressed by this moment of explanation because I was still a child and I never forgot it. He was quoting that text Isaiah Chapter 1 verse 18 which says even if your sins are like scarlet or
crimson I will make them as white as snow as white as pure wool I saw dad saying people, God is not only talking about the power that God has to remove sins from our lives but he is also talking here about processes Scarlet and crimson were dyes that when applied to the fabric, they were irreversible, they were impossible, right, they were impossible to be removed, so try to imagine yourself spilling an açaí, not the way we consume it here, but the kind of purity from the Amazon, spilling out . an açaí sits for 15 days
and then someone takes it away And says now is there a way to clean it with all the technology we have today from bleaches to chemical reagents I'm not going to tell you that it would be impossible because today we've made a lot of progress in this but it would be a lot of work now the tincture power of Açaí doesn't compare to these two that we are mentioning but God says even if it gets to that point he is saying I have the power to bleach clean your life but my father said God didn't
just give two examples of dye he also gave two examples of whiteness and he is not talking about something that is better in the sense of whiter because the first example is snow the second example is wool and wool is not usually whiter than snow So why I still remember the two examples as a boy, Dad explaining and saying the following, snow is what comes from the sky from above to the earth, man doesn't make any effort, it doesn't depend on him, it's an act that is beyond his capacity and God said removing the dirt
of sin and making us white as snow speaks of the Initial Sanctification that is imputed to us by faith through Christ it comes from God it is not something that comes from us it is not something that we have the power to produce it simply descends from heaven and touches us and says but when the Bible talks about God removing the dye and making it white like wool, wool, unlike snow, does not come from above, does not come down from heaven onto the earth, it springs from the inside out and has everything to do with
with the nature of the sheep and I remember dad saying this second example talks about progressive Sanctification after the Initial Sanctification that is imputed to us by faith comes from above over our lives we will be introduced into another PR process that has to do with change of nature and with a process where sanctification will not be from the outside in but on the contrary it will be from the inside out whoever is following it so with that in mind I would like us to start talking now about Progressive Sanctification according to the Corinthians in
Chapter 7 in the Verse we we see the apostle Paul making the statement that I have already mentioned here before that it is perfecting your holiness in the fear of the Lord if there is perfection. ISO means that the Initial Sanctification, although something powerful, although something extraordinary, was not the complete work, it was just the beginning, a beginning necessary but only the beginning of something greater and that something greater now leads us to experience a transformation that is presented in the Bible as a process not as something instantaneous when In Romans 12 the apostle Paul
says I pray that I transformed you by the renewing of your mind the word there translated transform, right, it's the Greek word metamorphosis, if you remember your biology classes at school, metamorphosis is transformation through a process when the caterpillar enters the cocoon and that transformation process begins so that it becomes a butterfly, in fact, this is called metamorphosis. a transformation through a process according to Corinthians 3:18 the Bible says that the spirit transforms us from glory to glory in the image of the Lord it is not instantaneous but it is progressive this is how Sanctification
happens and I would like to draw your attention to a statement from the book of Hebrews first place in Hebrews in chapter 12 in Verse 14 the Bible says Follow peace with everyone and Sanctification without which no one belongs to the Lord what is this following peace He is simply talking about continuing a process he talks about but they will also follow Sanctification he is writing to people who have already gone through conversion but he talks about following Sanctification because the process is still continuing now in Hebrews in chapter 10 and in Verse 10 we
see again the conjugation of Sanctification in the past he says like this I want to read from verse 10 to 14 first 10 in this will is that we have been sanctified we have been is what verbal tense passed in this will is that we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all in fact keep this phrase through the offering of Jesus' body at supper our Lord Jesus taught us to Celebrate what he did highlighting two elements the fruit of life speaks of his blood but the bread
speaks of his body we speak we no longer speak much about the blood but we speak almost nothing about the offering of the body of Jesus this statement here is also very important and in a moment we will return to it a little later so the text says in this will is that we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all the old testament had continuous repetition of sacrifices but he is highlighting that the sacrifice of Jesus was only once, right once and for all and that it provided
all the solution that you and I needed is from this argument of the offering of the body of Jesus and this work of sanctification that he continues saying verse 11 now every priest presents himself day after day to perform the sacred service and to offer Many times the same sacrifice that can never remove sins is talking about the sacrifices of the Old Testament Jesus but having offered a single sacrifice for sins forever , he sat at the right hand of God, waiting from then on until his enemies were made his footstool because with a single
offering he perfected forever How many are being sanctified in verse 10 he says we have been sanctified now the Bible says with one sacrifice he perfected forever How many are being sanctified so the Bible both talks about a Sanctification that has already happened and talks about another process another part another aspect that is happening but here it tells us makes an interesting statement he says that he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified, that is, on his part the work is already done, ready and complete, on our part it is still happening I believe
that this is another element that needs to be understood I have I saw some people preaching about Sanctification and saying you don't have to do anything about your Sanctification it's all done Jesus has already accomplished everything It's all ready one thing is for you to look at the provision on the spiritual plane on the spiritual plane the apostle Peter writes in his first epistle that Jesus is the lamb known before the foundation of the world because God is a timeless being he is outside of this timeline where you and I are trapped we look at
what has already happened in the past we look at what is happening in the present we look at what that from our perspective it will happen in the future God is a timeless being outside of this line he knows everything that will happen he looks at the present he looks at what happened in a way that our mind cannot follow and often when the Bible talks about what is ready you are talking about something that was provisioned in the spiritual realm but that does not mean the download of this ready PR the dimension we live
in is neither automatic nor instantaneous. So let me give you an example Jesus, with the work of the Cross, defeated the enemy Colossians says that he stripped the principalities and powers that he triumphed over from them on the cross so the question has Jesus already conquered his enemies yes but verse 13 says that he is waiting until his enemies are placed on the road of his feet one thing is for you to talk about the provision spiritual where everything is resolved Full victory wins the other thing is you deal with the timeline and download the
materialization of these truths in our dimension here Jesus is waiting until everything happens, that is, you cannot take a statement sanctified in the past that or involves the initial work of Sanctification or that talks about a provision already made and saying that there is absolutely nothing to be done today. I want to show you through the Bible that there is something to be done and we need to interact with what has already been accomplished if we want to experience it in a practical way the manifestation of the full and complete process of sanctification in our
lives, so I believe that from the moment we distinguish the eternal work of Christ from its materialization in our lives, it becomes easier for us to see some truths and in the first of them I I want to make a distinction between this positional Sanctification and behavioral Sanctification, so if you can follow me first from Peter in the chapter 1 and we will read from Verse 14 to 16 first epistle of Peter Chapter 1 from verse 14 to 16 the sacred text says as children of Obedience interesting that before converting us The Bible calls us
children of disobedience but now the text says how children of Obedience Do not conform to the passions that you previously felt in your ignorance, on the contrary, as he who called you is holy, become holy yourselves in all your conduct because it is written Be Holy as I am holy So let us remember that the God who elected us in him before the foundation of the world to be Saints made a declaration during the law of Moses Be holy because I am holy when we arrived in the new covenant the apostle Peter casts the hand
of Alo which was written and declared there in the old covenant and he says Be holy because I am holy in other words he is saying God who is holy who created us to be like him to be Holy and reprehensible he has not changed his mind everything is still part of the same plan only he uses the expression become Saints but pastor We have no longer been sanctified, yes, but this translated word become ginai in the original Greek it speaks of becoming, right of beginning to be, so he is saying that if on the
one hand there has already been Sanctification, there is still the need to advance in the process, as he says, become Saints also yourselves in all your procedures, the NIV translated this into everything you do because the word procedure in the original Greek is anastrophe, it means way of life, conduct, behavior, posture or procedure, so the Bible is saying that you and I have to become Saints in behavior, so there is a Sanctification that is behavioral, it is not necessarily the result of mere effort But it is an area where Sanctification has to manifest itself and
I am saying this because I see a lot of people trying to preach just positional Sanctification is what Christ did that he accomplished in our favor OK, but this spiritual reality has to manifest itself here in the dimension of you and I living, it has to materialize in a different practical conduct and 1 John B who is one of my writers favorites he released one of the best books I've ever read about holiness called kryptonite how to destroy that which steals your strength in this book he makes a distinction between positional and behavioral Sanctification with
the following example at the time 2017 5 years ago he writes saying I link your wife's name we have been married for 35 years and she is no longer my wife today than she was 35 years ago because that is a position that does not improve we have been married longer but she is no longer my wife today than she was then occasion and in another 35 years if you're still alive he says she won't be my wife any more than she is today or what she was at the beginning and he says this is
a position she occupies and she doesn't necessarily improve he says I chose I gave her she is my name I made her my heir and to a document of our nation that guarantees this position she has which is the marriage certificate and it says however And then he says this is Positional sanctification God also chose us God also gave us his name God also made us his heirs and we have a statute that guarantees this and there is nothing you do on the path of sanctification that will make you more of a child of God
than you already are in the future as much a child of God as you are today so we Let us understand that Sanctification does not necessarily change your position Pastor if it does not change my position because it is important If it does not improve my state or my status because it is important because without it you can compromise your position he says so in the his example, but if he decides to go out with other guys, his behavior could compromise his godly position and you and I need to understand why behavioral Sanctification is so
important, it does not necessarily improve our position before God, but it guarantees us that this position will not be committed, so we need to look at this Sanctification in the correct way because I see a lot of people relativizing biblical truths in the name of other half-truths that could be called half-lies an example example of her the other day she came to me and said I don't understand your dedication He looked at me And he said, it seems like you're trying to deserve something from God, I said, you're crazy, one of the meanings of grace
is favor and deserved, nothing you and I do will make us worthy of anything, everything God has made available to us is a favor and deserved. He looked at me and said but if you're not trying to deserve something why do you dedicate yourself? I pointed up and said why was he referring to God because he deserves head the fact that I don't try to deserve something doesn't mean he doesn't You deserve the best from me then the other day someone came to me and said look if you had the revelation that I had you
wouldn't worry about anything I said Wow what a Revelation this is and said nothing you do good will make God love you more and nothing you do bad will make God call less I said this is the great revelation I said this I taught it to my son when he was 11 years old I wasn't even talking about God I was talking about me he comes home from school one day and people, body language gave him away he already came in with his head down without the courage to face me when I approached him for
a conversation he started to shake I already realized that something was wrong at that time of the month when the children had to bring their school report card to them. parents, from his reaction I already deduced I said, by any chance, do you have a bulletin in your backpack that has some red note on it, look at me, scare me, God revealed it to you, I said, it wasn't you, I said that, we call it body language, you gave yourself away, but he was so scared so scared so scared of me that I couldn't talk
to him I said boy stop stop breathe look at me he looked down he said look at me he didn't take his eye off me then he kept looking at me I said I love you I know P I I said you know but you don't understand I said pay attention nothing good you do will make me love you but nothing bad you do will make me less of you I said piá there in the south We call the boy piá I said wow, nothing you do, good or bad, changes my love for you. I
don't love you for your performance. I love you for who you are. You're my son. Man, wow, there was just a look of relief, but a look of relief. It quickly changed to a mischievous look and he didn't say anything but it was written on his forehead so he let me know because if nothing I do bad is going to make the Lord love me less, nothing I do good is going to make me love him more, why is that? I'm going to worry about my behavior so I told him but before you say that
nonsense you're thinking I want to tell you the following if you want to please me the conversation is different and in the Bible you have two doctrines that are completely different from the other each other The first is God's unconditional love God loves each one of us unconditionally And it's true that nothing good you do will make him love you but nothing bad you do will make him love you less but if you want pleasing God then you have to understand the importance of your conduct and pleasing God is a biblical doctrine in John 8:29
Jesus speaking the father says I do whatever pleases him and according to Corinthians 5:9 Paul says we we strive to be pleasing to them in Hebrews 12:28 the Bible says having received a kingdom that cannot be shaken let us retain the grace whereby we approach God with grace and with holy fear when you look at the scriptures the Bible says that without faith it is impossible to please to God the Word of God also says that those who are in the flesh cannot please God Paul when he writes to the Thessalonians and says in first
Thessalonians 4:1 finally, brothers, we beseech you and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, who as you received from us in the manner because you must live and please God and you are effectively doing so, you continue to progress more and more and he said You are already pleasing but you can progress and please even more there is a doctrine about pleasing God and it has everything to do with behavior because the dear God's unconditional love is a fact but what determines your destiny is not God's unconditional love Jesus says John 3:16 Because God loved the
world in such a way means he loved so madly so absurdly and passionately that he gave his son only begotten, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life God's love made God offer his own son, but the guy who doesn't believe will have eternal life, because in verse 18 Jesus says but whoever doesn't believe is condemned, this guy who didn't believe and is condemned to eternal perdition, he You are loved unconditionally by God, but even if you are unconditionally loved, you are broken because God's unconditional love does not change your destiny,
it is your response to God's unconditional love that determines what your destiny will be, so we need to stop this nonsense about God having the unconditional love and I have no responsibility is not what the Bible teaches it emphasizes unconditional love but God's unconditional love speaks of the value you have for him now the willingness to please him speaks of the value he has for you is another conversation uh if we understand it from the correct Perspective we won't keep trying to invent biblical excuses to contradict the Bible itself Well then there is a Sanctification
that is behavioral Peter is saying that you and I need to be Saints in our behavior and I believe that understanding this is a key that is not only necessary but I would say powerful for us to advance in understanding God's revelation. So I want you to observe with me Paul's statement in Ephesians in chapter 4 from Verse 17 and it says this Therefore I say and I testify in the Lord that you no longer walk as the Gentiles also walk, as they walk in the vanity of their own darkened thoughts of understanding alien to
the Life of God because of the ignorance in which they live due to the hardness of their hearts which have become insensitive if they gave themselves over to dissolution to greedily commit all kinds of impurity, everything here is behavior, there are some effects, right, some consequences of behavior that are accentuated, there are some elements that also affect behavior, but in essence, when he is talking about the ignorance in which they live, right, despite them or because of their insensitivity, they give in to AIDS, right, with strength, with will, they commit all sorts of impurity, the
Bible is talking about behavior, so the Bible says Don't hang out with Eliz and that Don't hang out with Eliz, and it's not talking about Ginga on the swing of the body is talking about Conduct of behavior then he goes into verse 20 saying this but that's not how you learned Christ I love this statement because Paul doesn't say that's not how you learned about Christ and he says that's not how you learned Christ they didn't teach only about Christ they taught Christ Christ was a model Paul said of my imitators as I am of
Christ behavior Christ was presented as the basis the model of any and all types of behavior and Paul is saying the model of behavior that you received wasn't that in verse 21 he makes fun of if in fact you heard you and in him you were instructed according to the truth in Jesus because he says if you are not walking that way I will question myself If you are instructed in the basics and basics of the Truth in Jesus was talking about behavior there in verse 22 he says in the sense that regarding the past
dealings you put off the old man that corrupts itself according to the lusts of deceit and be renewed in the spirit of your mind and put on the new man created according to God inimical justice and righteousness coming from the Truth Paul is talking about putting off the old man and he talks about the old man as a garment and he said putting on the new man one day I was in a prayer meeting and I noticed a brother from afar doing a strange act, it seemed like ok tearing off one piece of clothing while
wearing another and I was looking at it curiously I couldn't stand it I stopped praying I went there I said what was going on here and how is it I said this strange thing you were doing there Oh pastor it was a prophetic act I said I imagined it was a I'm acting like a prophetic act, but what were you doing that looked like you were changing your clothes, exactly the pastor was taking off my old man and putting on a new one, I said Oh, crazy, if it were that easy, if it was just
rehearsing a change of clothes, I said but since you touched on the subject that it is a biblical ordinance it is important I said do you know what it means to put off the old man and put on the new he said I don't know No, I said no in practice, besides what you did, you know how we do this in practice, he said, I have no idea, but I'm taking it by faith, I said, but if you don't even know what this is, how are you going to be able to live? what you don't
know and said Well, I never thought anyone would ask, I said no, but we don't have to know because they're going to ask, we have to know so we can practice, just curious, after that day I started asking a lot of people of people, do you know in practical terms what it means to take off the old man in a new dress and the crowd said no and I began to discover that almost no believer knew how to explain what ISS was, people, if we don't know what it is, how are we going to fulfill
it? So for us to understand what it is, we will have to continue reading the next verse, 25, which together with the previous verses form a context. In fact, I want to remind you that the Bible was not written in chapters and verses, it went through two divisions into different moments the division into chapters only in the year 1200 of our era the division into Versicles happened after the year 1500 Brazil had already been discovered when the Bible was divided into Verses and these two divisions were made with the sole purpose of helping us locate
the texts for being able to give an easy reference to where I was, but the Bible wasn't written like that, I'm saying this because we sometimes have the habit of reading a verse completely isolated from the context and we can't form a more comprehensive idea of what it means, and that wasn't enough. This error, which is already terrible and has a high cost, we are living in another era. Even more complicated, it seems that we have suffered a profound dumbing down in terms of text interpretation. No, seriously, let me rant, you can put a post
on the internet. on the first day of June at 7pm starting at 7:30pm ending only God knows what time we will have the conference the impact of holiness In the Reach Community in Juazeiro Bahia Then you look at the comments where it will be really what time it will start where it will be then I I keep looking at that and I say, are you kidding me? There have been times when I was patient and went there to answer the person, the answer to your question and all the others you could imagine asking is in
the bathroom above that you refuse to read, so we already have the difficulty of people who divide and look at the whole Verse, but nowadays, not even with the information there, people don't want to think now how to expect there to be a Biblical understanding. Clear and deep with this mentality. Look at verse 25, verse 25 begins with a kind of conjunction and says therefore this phrase means therefore for this reason because of then he is continuing therefore leaving the lie what is a lie behavior of the old man speak the truth to his neighbor
because we are members of one another behavior of the new man lie that has to be abandoned naked behavior of the old man truth that has to be spoken new man behavior Look at the next verse 26 and 27 be angry and do not sin do not worry about your anger and do not give place to the devil behavior verse 28 he who stole behavior of an old man should not steal any more but rather work doing what is good with his own hands so that he will have something to help the needy behavior of
a new man verse 29 Do not let any nasty words come out of your mouth behavior of the old man and yes, it is only that it is good for edification according to the need and thus transmits grace to those who hear the behavior of the new man stripping off the old man dressed in the new is Change of Behavior people he continues verse 30 and 31 and do not grieve the holy spirit of God in which you were sealed for the day of Redemption far from you all bitterness Cholera Wrath shouting and blasphemies and
so on a whole list now he makes a list of the old man's behaviors so that in the 32nd he says first or whatever, on the contrary, be one with one another others benign compassionate forgiving one another as in God in Christ forgave you behavior of the new man you between Chapter 5 and the if Paul will continue all the time talking about behavior and then I wonder if the greatest description of the epistles you you also find this in the teachings of Jesus in the gospel, but mainly in the epistles they concern to Behavior
Change how do we have to listen to the nonsense of people saying we don't have to worry about behavior I keep asking myself if these people read the Bible or what Bible they read or what weed they smoke Before reading because seriously people don't You can look at something so repeated in the scriptures and someone says it's not there Paul says because this is God's will your Sanctification first the Thessalonians 43 what is Sanctification Paul that you abstain from prostitution that each of you knows how to possess one's own body in holiness and Honor not
with lustful desire as gentle who do not know God behavior all the time the emphasis of Sanctification is related to change of behavior and when he ends in verse 32 he says forgiving one another as well God in Christ forgave you what was the initial statement of the change in behavior there in Pedro Be holy because I am holy God is saying I want you to look like me now what is he going to say Chapter 5 verse 1 remembering change of Chapter and Verse is not necessarily a change of subject thirst because or be
therefore imitators of God as beloved children what it means to be imitators of God means that we are now going to go out there creating worlds and galaxies we cannot imitate this part of God what is it we can imitate behavior look at the text and walk in love as he also loved us and gave himself for us as an offering and sacrifice to God in a sweet aroma forgiving as God in Christ forgave us I imitate God's behavior by walking in love as Christ I imitate the behavior of Christ, so if we understand that
the essence of progressive Sanctification, not the Initial one, when you and I came to Christ, we came in a state of guilt, condemnation, He simply cleansed us, and we received this Sanctification from above that comes as the snow from heaven on earth is imputed to us, but from the moment we enter the process of perfecting Sanctification. So what is in question is in Essence Change in Behavior This needs to be well understood, that's why Paul said thirsty mine imitators like I am of Christ why Because God's great purpose from the beginning is that man should
resemble him as God made the first man according to his image and likeness but it is precisely when the first man sins that humanity was deprived of living the fulfillment of God's plan and purpose, that's when everything was ruined and corrupted when the first man created in the image of God, who had the responsibility to reproduce according to his species, there was a law for all creation, it wasn't just for animals and also for man, each one reproduces according to his species if the first man was made by God to look like himself if that
is how God made him what did God expect from the replicas that everyone else after Adam would also look like with him what he elected us in him before the foundation of the world to be Holy and blameless now when the first sinned he corrupted nature and Paul will say in Romans 5:12 through a sound sin entered the world through sin A Death and death passed to all men and then you will see that by the sin of one all sinned as when the first prototype reproductive matrix sinned it deformed the mold with which it
was created and now it becomes a prototype a distorted reproductive matrix and because sin enters Adam he begins to reproduce beings similar to himself because God sent Jesus to fulfill the purpose that the first Adam never fulfilled that is why in Romans 5 when Paul speaks of the first Adam he says this which prefigured what there was of coming and then it talks about Christ that's why in first the Corinthians in chapter 15 if you can follow me, follow us we talk about this in transforming grace and there is no way to avoid touching on
this subject first in Corinthians 15:45 he says for thus it is written the first man Adam was made a living soul or living being, the last Adam, however, is a life-giving spirit and is talking about another Adam, although you will not see another character with the name Adam, you will see someone who came to fulfill the purpose that initially had been given to Adam who is he the text says the last Adam is a life-giving Spirit The first is just a living being the other is a being that gives life the first is a mere
creature the other is a creator Then he says in 46 but he is not the first, okay speaking of chronological order, it is not first the spiritual but the natural then the spiritual then first natural Adam the last spiritual Adam verse 47 the first man formed from the earth Do you remember how God made the first man from the dust of the earth in Genesis 2 the first man formed of the earth is earthly so he says the second man is from heaven so now the contrast is not only that the first Adam is earthly
and the last is Celestial and he calls the last Adam the second man so this other Adam is also a man But different only a living being a creature he is a spirit that gives life he is the creator John talks about him in chapter one Everything was made through him and without him nothing that was made was made who is also a man but instead of being a Creature is creator Jesus He who is not a natural man is man but is spiritual Jesus Who, being man, is not earthly does not have the same
origin but is Celestial Jesus now because Jesus is called Adam is not a comparison of actions it is a comparison on purpose Look at verse 48 49 How was the first earthly man Such are the other earthly men and how is the Celestial man Such also the Celestials, just as we brought the image of what is earthly, we must also bring the image of the Celestial, glory to God in other words, we came to this world similar to the first Adam, inheriting his sinful nature, manifesting his image, but God sent another head of the race,
another prototype, another reproductive Matrix to reproduce according to his image, which in turn is the one that revealed the father in John 14 says to Felipe Felipe whoever sees me sees the Father he was not advocating or defending his divine essence he was defending that as a man he practiced the revelation of God on Earth and he came to be the model of what you and I we must be the Bible says as we brought the image of the first we will bring the image of the second what is Progressive sanctification is God after the
initial cleansing of conversion taking us in a process of transformation to fulfill the purpose he elected us in him before the foundation of the world to be Blameless saints the heart of the Gospel is the transformation of man into the image of Jesus amen 8:29 says to those whom Dantes foreknew he also predestined so that they might be conformed to the image of his son Jesus in Ephesians in chapter 4 in verse 13 the Bible says until we all reach the stature of the perfect man Christ Jesus in Philippians 2:5 the Bible says have in
your mind the same feeling that was also in Christ Jesus in the first of John 2:6 whoever says he is in him must walk as he walked in the first of Peter 2:21 he left us an example so that we may follow in his footsteps Hallelujah According to the Corinthians 3:18 the spirit transforms us from glory to glory in the image of the Lord which is the image of the Lord just as we bore the image from the earthly we must also bring the image of the Celestial and Progressive Sanctification is when God begins to
work in us that which has the power to then from the inside out because as soon as it happens Progressive Sanctification leads us to experience Divine perfection so if we understand the first and last Adam that the first did not fulfill his purpose and the second did not come just to forgive the sins of the first's lineage, the second came to form a new lineage on earth, a lineage that met God's initial plan, so the question to be done is how it all begins Jesus said to Nicodemus in John in chapter 3 he says that
it was necessary to be born again Jesus still says so there in John in chapter 3 if someone is not born again verse 3 he cannot see the kingdom of God after the verse 5 Jesus says whoever is not born of water and the spirit cannot enter the kingdom of God when Jesus says be born again Nicodemus meaning that I will have to enter the womb mother born in the light given birth again Jes you Isra things I joke if I were today in contemporary language perhaps Jesus could have joked do you want me to
draw you said to him what is born of the Flesh is flesh and said it was this first birth of the flesh that went bad that is the reason why it has that having another new Birth whoever is born of the spirit is Spirit The New Birth is in spiritual Essence because the first one which is carnal is where the problem was communicated to us I imagine what Jesus would be saying in other words to Nicodemus if there was a hypothetical form of you entering the mother's womb, separating again, giving birth again, you live an
eternal lup, an eternal repetition of returning to Earth every time with the same condition with the image of the first Adam, the only way you can have a new DNA is through of the New Birth And this is where you and I need to understand that the New Birth marks the initial Sanctification because it allows you and me to experience an intervention at the level of the second nature of Peter 1 says in order for you to become participants in the Divine nature of the New Birth allowed us to access a new first nature of
John 3 says that the seed of God remains in us the seed that carries a genetic code DNA through the first Birth we received the DNA of the first Adam through the New Birth we received the DNA of Christ ago a new nature that is communicated to us, this already happens in the initial Sanctification, however this does not mean that when receiving a new nature that you lost the old one and that is why many believers fantasize, the thing we read in the first of Peter 1:1 that we do not can we afford to have
Luxury if we can call it luxury because that is a great loss we cannot simply allow ourselves the version of the bible that I am using says do not conform your passions to the desires you had before if our old nature had been completely uprooted and removed, there would be no need for an exhortation to stop us from feeling what we felt before, but if there are many warnings in the New Testament and we will find it, it is Because in fact this can happen, it can happen, why Because the old nature did not disappear
despite you received a new one one day I said that one thought out loud mercy then I had already said it out loud I said What is the profit I said don't say that nonsense when you only had an old nature it controlled you from the moment you received it a new one , even if the old one didn't disappear for the New one, you can subjugate the old one, so here we have a huge difference, but this fantasy of the old nature disappearing disappeared has been very costly for many people, we are a nation
that, thank God, sees the number of converts growing all the time according to the last census of 2010 We had already surpassed 40 million evangelicals the new one hasn't come out yet but the more conservative ones are saying more than 50 the most excited ones are saying more than 60 million an article in the magazine See between the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017 it said that at the most until 2040 at the time it was 23 years at the most until 2040 the article said Brazil will be a predominantly evangelical nation and
it wasn't a prophecy or people who like us saying this They are simply doing statistical analysis It's cold if it follows the worst possibility of the growth curve we have been experiencing This is the deadline for us to be a majority what the gospel has reached a lot of people but unfortunately it reaches a lot of people with validity because since we were 30 million we have a statistic remains standing for each firm believer, in some places in Brazil things are a little better, others are worse, on average, that's more or less, for each firm
believer, you have a deviant whoever takes the gospel a little will always run into the People, every now and then, I'm here, an opportunity arises, I'm going to talk about Jesus to someone, the person's eyes fill with tears and say, I was once a believer and I was so good, I say you were so good, why did you let go, you know what? Many people tell me why I doubted my experience. Then I ask why You doubted your experience because I started to feel like doing the same things I did before and my desire is
to fly in the neck and scream and who told you that you wouldn't feel comfortable doing the same things God never said you wouldn't feel like it, he told you not to give in to it but because we fantasize we start to doubt the experience instead of being progressive it becomes regressive What do you and I need to understand about Progressive Sanctification we receive a new nature but we do not necessarily lose the old one result the stick is breaking between the two natures Galatians 5:17 says that the spirit militates word milita means fight war
fight battle against the flesh and the flesh against the spirit I know that in most of the biblical versions that we have the word spirit appears there with a capital e and where you find the capital e it is an allusion to the Holy Spirit but the question is Paul was talking about the Holy Spirit because people it is the holy spirit fighting against the flesh, the flesh is winning by a landslide. Because if the holy spirit cannot overcome the flesh, we are going to question the attribute of omnipotence. The issue is that the translated
word of the Spirit in the original Greek in which the New Testament the koinê it is pneuma and it is a neutral word it is used to talk about the Spirit of God it is used to talk about angels it is used to talk about man it is used to talk about demons you only make the distinction because it is always pneuma in any aspect by some adjective then it is there pneuma of Christ pneuma santo pneuma of God you know it is the Holy Spirit and if you don't have it you need to see
if the context suggests this Romans 8:16 says because the spirit is capitalized testifies with our spirit is tiny that we are children of God in the Greek it is because the pneuma Let's invent it here because it is not there like that with a capital P testifies with our pneuma with a small P the word is the same but as we know that the first is the good holy spirit besides in the second he says ours and he is making it clear two Verses before Paul says in Romans 8:14 those who are guided by the
Spirit of God pneuma of God are children of God the spirit in the context is that of God so that capital letter is right now here in Galatians 5 there is absolutely nothing to justify this because throughout the epistle of Romans and Galatians the expressions flesh and spirits are used by Paul to talk about the old and the New nature, which is in collision, confrontation and fight are the natures, that's where Paul will explain this In Romans 7, take a look with me at Romans 7 from Verse [Music] 15 and say this because I don't
even understand my own way of acting because I don't do what I prefer, but rather what I hate it Now, if I do what I don't want, I consent to the law, which is good. In that case, it's no longer me who does it, but the sin that lives in me, people, I wish Paul had said the sin that lived, the sin that lived, but he says what sin that dwells in me Then he says because I know that in me and Thank God that the explanation comes that is in my flesh no good dwells
because wanting good It is not in me but to do it because I do not do good that I prefer but the evil that I don't want I do but if I do what I don't want it is no longer me who does it but the sin that dwells in me so by wanting to do good against the law that the evil resides in me it did not reside resides because as far as the inner man is concerned, he delights in the law of God, but see in my members another law that, warring against the
law of my mind, makes me a prisoner of the law of sin that is in my members, every day someone said, no, this was the Paul before the conversion speaking I said It is true and it says regarding the law of God regarding the inner man forgiveness and it says I take pleasure in the law of God we were called children of disobedience And then a non- believer is saying that he takes pleasure in the law of God, only with the old nature is never what Paul is talking about, in fact, in verse 18 he
says I know that in me this is in my flesh, nothing good dwells in the flesh, no, Paul will call it In Romans 8 The flesh of sinful but because the New Birth happens at the level of our spirit no Believer can say I have no good in my flesh I have not but in my spirit I have pleasure in the law of God if my spirit is Born again and has the nature of God he takes pleasure in the things of God the problem is that the stick is breaking between the two natures then
Paul ends by saying in verse 24 wretched is the man who I am who will free me from the body of this death and verse 25 begins by saying thanks be to God by Jesus Christ our lord the other day someone said no no no pastor the proof of what Paul was talking about of him before the conversion is because then he asks who will free me from the body of this death thank God for Jesus then Jesus came, he already solved everything Fi he already solved everything for sure because after saying thank God for
Jesus Christ our Lord he says of in the way that I myself with the mind am a slave to the law of God but according to the flesh of the law of sin say what has changed he gives thanks to God but he remains the same and says regarding the flesh I am a slave to the law of sin but about the mind, a slave to the law of God, when he talks about the mind he is talking about the inner man, what we need to understand is that question of the process and the times
Paul asks a question in the future who will free me from the body of this death and says I was born of I have the new nature of God in my spirit but I have not lost the old nature that is still in my body The two are fighting who can free me from this old one Paul says Grace to God through Jesus but grace to God through Jesus will deliver In Romans 8 he will work on this entire progression of the future idea he enters saying the following verse from Romans 8 which is the
continuation now present now for there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus Initial Sanctification removal of the condemnation of sin two because the law of the spirit of Life in Christ Jesus freed you from the law of sin and Death Progressive sanctification in a moment we will talk about this but then in verse 11 he says so if the spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, the same one who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will revive again in the future, he will also revive your mortal body
through his spirit that dwells in you. In a moment we will explain a little better what this experience of a final Sanctification is, which is the transformation of the body, but this it didn't happen so what you and I need to understand and I'm going to explain what final Sanctification is that Initial Sanctification is the result of having encountered Christ Progressive Sanctification is the preparation for the coming of Christ First Thessalonians 5:23 says and the God of peace sanctify you completely other translations says your entire being which is the entire being and says and your
spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless for the coming of Jesus so in Initial Sanctification we have the result of the encounter with Christ in Sanctification the preparation for the coming of Christ is progressive and when we will have the final in the coming of Christ Our homeland is in the heavens we await a Savior who when he comes to transform the body of humiliation to be equal to the body of his glory if we can understand this drawing it becomes more easy to understand where the final Sanctification comes into this story We read
verse 11 that the spirit will give life to our bodies and at the end of 17 Paul speaking about Christ and says this if we suffer with him we will also be glorified Repeat with me glorified glorified pastor What is to be glorified verse 18 let's continue Because for me I am certain that the Sufferings of the present time cannot be compared with the glory to be revealed in us so a glory will be revealed in us soon we will be glorified verse 19 ardent expectation of creation Awaits the revelation of the children of God
what this revelation is 20 for creation is subject to vanity not voluntarily but because of him who subjected it to sin and through him the devil verse 21 in the hope that creation itself will be redeemed from the captivity of corruption to Freedom of the Glory of the children of God to what and you need to understand that redemption is not just for man it is for all creation Do you remember when man one of the curses was that the earth would produce thorns nature itself is affected by sin but when Jesus goes to the
Cross They placed a crown of thorns on him, don't tell me this is a coincidence, exactly the first sign of the curse affecting the functioning order of nature is placed on him the Bible is saying that the entire creation will be redeemed and not just the man but creation is awaiting the moment of Freedom of Glory of the children of God and then he says in verse 22 because we know that all creation at the same time groans and endures anguish until now I remember I I was still very young, moving from adolescence to youth,
one day we were either arriving for a church service or leaving and a friend who was next to me was a little older than me. He looks at me and says Luciano, you had to preach to this tree that you preached I found the question strangest because I never imagined someone preaching to a tree but the moment he said that I remembered this text and it was just by letting the ball bounce I started preaching to the tree I said it would be like this and I started telling her to hold on a little longer
that the freedom of the Glory of the children of God is coming and will contemplate you too the text says that nature groans and endures anguish waiting for this moment But verse 23 says and not only nature but also us that we have the premises of the spirit that we have already been saved we equally groan within ourselves because nature groans she groans in hope of the Freedom of Glory we equally groan in despair waiting for the adoption of children the redemption of our body Hallelujah when the redemption of the body happens we will be
the fullness of the Redemptive work that will touch Even nature itself the Bible speaks of transformation it says that there will be new heavens and New Earth I you need to understand we V in this final stage verse 45 to 49 talk and see more videos like this 49 says so We are the image of what they will have we must also bring the image of what is Celestial and it means that when our body is glorified something will happen to us similar to what happened to the body of Jesus after the Resurrection Jesus did
have a physical body and he said to Thomas, feel one Spirit does not have flesh and blood like you see I have but at the same time he was ap palpable and could eat with the disciples he could appear and disappear from a room and he was not limited to the physical laws that you and I are the Bible says that we will be like him it is talking about the fullness of transformation and a glorified body like his is in this context that it says in 50 this states brothers that flesh and blood cannot
inherit the kingdom of God nor corruption inherit the incorruption Why flesh and blood this body cannot give the kingdom of God because what is in the flesh cannot inherit the incorruption of the kingdom then with this argument he follows verse 51 behold, I tell you the mystery we will not all sleep synonymous with dying but we will all be transformed then those who die and those who are alive at the coming of Jesus will all be transformed Paul writes to the Thessalonians and says very clearly there in chapter 4 that when the trumpet sounds the
dead will remain first then we, the living will be transformed and the living transformed together with the resurrected dead we will all rise to meet the Lord in the hoops the Bible says not all men but all need transformation why Because flesh and blood do not inherit the kingdom of God there must be transformation of the body in verse 52 He ends by saying like this at the moment in the twinkling of an eye at the Sound of the last trumpet the trumpet will sound the motors will remain incorruptible and we will be transformed Why
Paul 53 Because it is necessary that this corruptible body put on incorruptibility and that the mortal body put on immortality and when that corruptible body shall put on incorruptibility and that which is mortal shall put on mortality Then only then shall the word that is written be swallowed up, death through victory, glory to God, the word of God says first to Corinthians 15:26 that the last enemy to be conquered is death remember Hebrews 10:13 that Jesus is waiting until all his enemies are placed on his feet that's what the Bible is saying the last enemy
that will be subjected is Death and the Bible says when there is this transformation then the last enemy will have been defeated and he says if the word that is written will be fulfilled swallowed up was death for victory Hallelujah now Paul begins to mock Death Where is death your victory Where is death your sting the translation of the Bible in today's language Street version street language of the street Paulo was going to say lost death And then he says in verse 56 and Here we have a summary of the Gospel the sting of death
is the sin the force of sin is the law When man sinned the sinful nature entered when the law was given it proved man's inability to live obedience and is summing up the whole process so he says in verse 57 Thank God who gives us Victory for through Our Lord Jesus Christ Sometimes we take this text God gives us Victory to think about day-to-day circumstantial Victory is much greater than that this is the Victory of Victories when the work of Redemption will have been completed now what you and I need to understand about the transformation
of the body how sin entered and was perpetrated in the world through the flesh Romans Chapter 8 Verse 3 we were reading before Romans And we ended up stopping at verse 2 Romans 8 TRS says so because what was impossible the law in that which was weak through the flesh this God did by sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh and in regard to sin and in effect God condemned sin in the flesh so that the precept of the Law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh
but according to the spirit and you we need to understand and understand what is being stated here the Bible says that God sent his son in the likeness of sinful flesh Jesus did not have sinful flesh but had a body similar to ours because God in the person of Jesus needs to become man the Bible says why God condemned sin in the Flesh why did sin have to be condemned in the Flesh because it entered and perpetuated itself throughout all humanity through the flesh Psalm 51:5 I was born in iniquity in Sin conceived me my
mother every day someone said to me David was talking about him not about others jump to Psalm 583 the wicked are alienated from the mother from the moment they are born they utter lies already in the second century Tertullian called this the original sin adamic nature They simply understood the first mold when become defective he replied in the same way the truth is that you and I were born in the condition of sinful men and sin was perpetuated through production so Jesus looks at Nicodemus says what went wrong was the first Birth according to the
flesh what will happen good is the second Birth The New Birth the birth of the Spirit what is he saying that just as everything was ruined by the first Birth where we received a compromised DNA everything will be fixed through a new Birth when we will receive another nature So what am I and you need to understand about these truths is that until the final Sanctification arrives where God will transform the body and then you will understand sin entered through the flesh it needed to be judged in the flesh and in the end it ends
up being eradicated and ripped out of the Flesh the Bible No he only talks about corruption inheriting incorruption being clothed with incorruptibility but he talks about what is mortal putting on mortality how did death enter the Bible says through a sound sin entered the world through Sin death because God said to Adam on the day you sin you will certainly die when sin enters death enters in tow when sin is taken away death leaves the tow is taken away together so this whole process is the work of Redemption so you and I need to understand
these distinct stages are clearly presented In the scriptures the other day someone said but pastor sir are you trying to say that the final Sanctification is only at the coming of Jesus I said that's what the Bible says then he asked me what knowing my future will affect my present I said no say this nonsense not again Never again will I speak the apostle John writes and says in the first epistle of John in chapter 3 if you are quick to address I would like you to open with me the first epistle of John Chapter
3 from verse 2 and says beloved now We are children of God and what we will become has not yet been revealed. People, pay attention to this. Now we are children. What comes next? Next level, we don't know. It hasn't been revealed yet. But there will be an upgrade. There will be an update . Jesus manifests himself, he is talking about his coming, we will be similar to him because we will see him as he is, the final transformation, the final conformation with the image of Jesus is at his coming, but in the next verse
13e says and he purifies himself all who has this hope in him how pure he is when we are looking at God's great project will end in the coming of Jesus even if it is a future work the Bible says whoever has this hope purifies themselves even if this final work only happens at his coming we We begin to pursue this if He is as close as possible to the final result until it comes . I don't think it's been achieved But one thing I do is forgetting the things that are behind me moving towards
those that are in front of me I continue he's saying I'm not where I should be but I'm getting further and further away from where I was and getting closer and closer to where should I get to and is it called Progressive Sanctification now that we understand Progressive Initial and Final Sanctification What do you and I need to start thinking about what I 'm going to call practical application until the body is glorified What do you and I do with him, since the problem is not resolved, the old nature has not disappeared, how can we
practice the Divine order of getting rid of the old man, I believe that here we have a very important point, the other day someone spoke to me, pastor, you summarized Initial Sanctification in one word Regeneration which is the New Birth He said you summarized Final Sanctification with one word glorification which is the transformation of the body he said but the Initial Sanctification I don't need to worry because the final Sanctification has already happened I don't have to worry because at the time If it has to happen, it will happen, I have to prepare but not
worry and the preparation is here in Progressive Sanctification . Now all I can do is focus on that, I said exactly, I liked your power of synthesis, I told him, I said, so could you summarize this stage with one word like you did with the others, then I thought, I thought, I couldn't find a word to define it. that But suddenly an insite comes to me a light I said serves a compound word he said serves I said so if what summarizes Initial Sanctification is Regeneration if what summarizes Final Sanctification is glorification I will tell
you that the word that most summarizes Sanctification progressive is self-control, now what do you and I need to understand about self-control, first to the Corinthians in chapter 9, in verse 27 , the apostle Paul says: Don't be disqualified when Paul talks about punching the body and he's not talking about something literal because if it were literal to reduce slavery it would also have to be over the centuries the Roman church ended up adopting a practice that became like self flagellation you must already have seen at least in films, people taking off their clothes, partially undressing
, taking a whip and starting to hit themselves on the back. spoke of something literal if it were to reduce slavery it would also have to be literal I never saw anyone tying a chain around their neck Now if the second part is symbolic and not literal the first cannot be literal if the first is literal the last has to be if the last cannot be the first, neither does Paul never speak of attacking the body in a literal way. In Romans 12 he says, I beseech you, therefore, to present your bodies as a living
sacrifice, that word is a paradox, a relative contradiction because to sacrifice means kill how sacrifice is Alive you kill or you don't kill Paul is saying look kill you kill but you don't literally kill you don't really kill so what is there to do Paul Colossians 3:5 says put your earthly nature to death Romans 88 :13 it talks about by the Spirit mortifying the deeds of the body what does all this mean when Paul is saying I reduce my flesh to slavery punch my body He is saying no one surrenders to slavery willingly If you
have watched films that contain well-known classic, obviously sad and regrettable scenes from the time of slavery and especially of Africans who were brought not only to Brazil but spread across the world, you will not find any moment where you will see the white ships arriving and they begged to be taken slaves, normally this happened through violence or because one African tribe subdued another and sold them as slaves or because the banks arrived not necessarily with physical force but sometimes with gunpowder, with weapons, with nets, with tricks and did this to force because no one wants
to surrender to slavery and the only way to impose this is with violence exerting force so when Paulo is saying punch my body you know what he is saying the flesh does not convert it will not want to cooperate with the process it has to being subdued is where you and I need to understand the idea and the concept and self-control in Genesis in chapter 4 in verse 7 God says a word to Cain when he is on the verge of killing his brother God says to him in verse 7 if you do well it
is not certain that you will be accepted and if you still do badly, behold, sin is already at the door, sin is almost entering and God said his desire will be against you but it is up to you to control it, the gateway to sin is desire James Chapter 1 verse 14 Says each one of you is tempted when attracted and deceived by his own desire desire freezes temptation consummate temptation allows sin to enter and James says sin generates death God warns Cain sin is there at the door you are ready to enter and your
desire will be against you because it will be an ally of sin against you but it is up to you to dominate it this is the first biblical mention of self-control now what you and I perhaps misunderstand is that most of us imagine that self-control is stopping the flesh by force of your own flesh, but the flesh doesn't want to stop itself, it doesn't want to self-sabotage, on the contrary, it has a great survival instinct, so self-control is not about stopping the flesh by force of the Flesh What self-control is is that you stop the
old nature by the force of the new nature, the new nature has to take control and this control has to be imposed. When I often read some texts from the Bible, it sounded very strange to me, for example the psalmist saying bless my soul to the Lord I kept thinking about it I said could it be that the psalmist suffered from bipolar who is his soul himself I kept saying he is talking to himself soul that it is me bless the Lord I thought this thing was very strange very strange but the truth that the
psalmist is not just talking to himself is a part a fraction of his being speaking to another First Thessalonians 5:23 says that we are spirit soul and body if and you understand that it is in the spirit that we Receive the new nature let's understand what Paul says in Romans 8:5 those who are minded by the spirit think about the things of the Spirit but he says those who are minded by the flesh think about the things of the flesh so let me give an example of self-control I remember that a few years ago I
arrived from a trip in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday tired after an intense weekend, I arrived very late to sleep very little because we would have the first of our four Sunday services in the morning but I thought I'll make it sleep at least a little bit and it seemed like I had only slept for about 5 minutes. The cell phone woke up on the side of the bed when it woke up and I reached out to turn off that noisy thing next to me . something you don't know is called cold These
days it was 4 degrees on the day I had this experience, it was three hours before I put my hand out to turn it off, I already felt my arm freezing and the moment I felt that cold it gave me a discouragement of getting out under that hot blanket the same hand I used to turn off the cell phone I pulled the curtain a little I looked outside at that gray rainy weather in Curitiba at that time Dona Soul and Dona Flesh conspired not to get out of bed, those suggestions started to come You're working
too much you have to rest no one can handle this pace Dona Carne said It's so warm here for those who face this cold and rain outside Dona alma said You deserve it, you don't have to go to worship, you don't have to go to church and the two of them made a plot not to go to church but my spirit was born again hungry and thirsty for God, he got up to put it in the house and said Dona alma, shut your mouth, Dona Car, don't you dare talk everyone out of bed, you're going
to get God today, that's what's called self-control, it's not the flesh saying Well, it's the flesh, you can't be misbehaved, I'll put you in the same place, she doesn't want to put herself in her place, people, something that you and I need to understand is that the flesh is willing to seek God, what Jesus says in the gospel of Matthew in chapter 26 in verse 41 Jesus says watch and pray so that you do not enter into temptation, the spirit is actually ready but the flesh is weak I know that most of us use the
term the flesh is weak to justify the fall and in a certain sense the Bible also calls it weakness but I've seen that it has become an excuse sometimes people joke I don't know if this expression is known here that to give bad news you have to prepare And you start the cat climbed onto the roof because of someone else story I joke that when the believer goes to tell temptation he has the gospel version of the cat climbed on the roof most of them start Well he's a pastor he already said sacred scripture when
he sins he doesn't remember the Bible but when it comes to telling it comes all biblical The flesh is weak I look at some people from time to time Yes, but in your case she is strong because if she were weak she would be losing in your case she is winning she must be strong Come on but the Bible calls it weak I said look at the context Jesus says watch and pray so as not to enter into temptation and say the spirit is ready what does Jesus mean by the spirit is ready if a
born again spirit that has the nature of God he wants to pray he wants to read the Bible he wants to seek God Jesus He said this to the disciples, they were being overcome by sleep, I couldn't pray, people were sleeping, people are serious, most of Us, before converting, it became a night without Of course, for the most banal reasons, some were at the club, others were mere conversations at a funeral, right, watching movies, marathoning series, What do you want? whatever, I remember a time when the World Cup was in Korea, Japan and the time
was reversed and everyone, including me, got up at dawn to watch Brazil play and I was there awake, excited, excited, but then you call a believer like that to pray, he says I can't do it, I 'm sleepy I want to say miserable to the rest, stay awake but he's not lying, he's sleepy and there are some who tell me, pastor, it looks like it's sleep a camel doesn't need to go to the bathroom but he goes into a 2 hour service he starts to suffer from urinary incontinence and he goes to the bathroom four
times during the service the whole day he doesn't need it brother why do you think this happens that his meat that She knows she's going to die in the environment where God is being sought. She has the survival instinct, there are people the other day, someone said, the pastor, I don't understand, I was worshiping God with my bare hands. A little while ago I started noticing the ceiling, I started counting the light bulbs in Forro F, I lost everything. I said you are usually like this without focus on everything he said only in church because
the flesh is fighting against it, so if you and I are going to exercise self-control we have to subdue the force and you only do this by empowering the new nature so that the new one for yours time subj the old woman that you and I have to do this only with effort we need to recognize that there is help from above another transforming grace seminar we highlight that grace is an enabling force first to the choirs 102 says what is standing take care of that you will not fall but at the same time he
says no temptation has overtaken you that you cannot bear God is faithful and will not allow you to be tempted beyond Yours for Hallelujah and he says on the contrary together with the temptation he will provide you with deliverance so that you can always endure it I ask that the majority of believers believe that temptation is supernatural but the Bible says there was no temptation that was not human, the temptation is natural but if you and I believe that the temptation is supernatural and that it will overcome It's natural we will never win but if
we understand that temptation is natural and that the only Supernatural thing in this story is deliverance God will provide Deliverance then if I look at temptation as natural and with Supernatural resources to overcome it the conversation is different there a grace from God is mine and at your disposal and this grace will manifest itself in me and in your life so that we can exercise the human responsibility of self-control by making use of divine resources so that this attitude of self-control is effective who is understanding say amen amen and here in this aspect you and
I need to understand the importance of spiritual disciplines most believers hardly read the Bible and I you don't need to read the Bible just to know doctrine Jesus said Man cannot live by bread alone but of every word that comes from the mouth of God if you want spiritual growth you need food first of Peter 2 tells us there in verse 2 desire pure spiritual milk with newborn baby boys so that you may be given growth PR salvation growth it comes through food but if you and I don't feed ourselves even though your spirit has
been recreated born again the Bible compares the spirit of someone who was born again at the beginning of conversion to a newborn baby it needs growth it needs development and needs food the word of God is food for our faith the Bible talks about this the word of God has the power to restore our mind restore our soul Our way of thinking Our way of feeling to take away what it has adapted to which is the old behavior the old nature to the new but because we sabotage the spiritual disciplines that include reading meditation studying
the scriptures we often don't realize that we fail to strengthen the consciousness of the new nature to strengthen the old Jesus says watch and pray so that do not enter into temptation a life of prayer makes you so aware of the new nature of the resources that God makes available that you do not even need to enter into it is not just about overcoming or entering into temptation but unfortunately we have thrown away spiritual disciplines because people started in some way to think that this was a meritorious practice, it's not John Wesley, he calls it
the means of Grace, I 've been talking a lot about this and next week there's a new book coming out that I'm very excited about, looking forward to its arrival called the culture of fasting For a lifetime I have practiced fasting and I learned very early fasting does not change God fasting changes you fasting the tool for mortification of your flesh that associated with its twin sister prayer produces awareness of spiritual things a few months ago when I was giving the conference right here transformative grace I told the story that I always talk about in
2018 God took me for the first time I fasted a lot throughout my life and I grew over the years but for the first time just 4 years ago I went on a 40 day water fast. The shock that this brought to me is greater than my ability to explain. I discovered that for 40 days nothing and no one irritated me. People's hearts shield themselves against offense. I realized that material things lose their value in a way that is beyond our capacity. to explain why I always say that the center of gravity changes the center
of gravity of the earth pulls down the center of gravity of the Kingdom of God upwards Seek things that are above, think about things that are above and when you begin to mortify the old nature everything that it values begins to lose importance And as you surrender to the New nature they sometimes change but we have not made much use of spiritual disciplines because we do not understand the power they have to strengthen the new nature so that it in turn subj the old woman by force, but self-control can be exercised with the help of
God with the resources from above that involve these practices, but let me go a little further and highlight here what I want to call the Purpose of holiness John bivir in the book kryptonite makes a statement that marked me and holiness is not an end in itself it is a means to achieve an end and holiness is a bridge to intimacy with God Gospel of John Chapter 14 verse 21 Jesus says that who has my commandments and keeps them This is the one who loves me there Jesus says I will love him too and my
father and I will come and make our home with him and he says I will manifest myself I will reveal myself to him you know there is a dimension of deeper communion and relationship in second to the Corinthians in chapter 6, if you can follow me there from verse 16 Paul ends verse 16 saying because we are the sanctuary of the living God, as he himself said, I will dwell and walk among them, I will be their God, they will be my people, therefore remove yourselves from among them, separate yourselves, says the Lord, do not
touch unclean things and I will receive you, I will be your father and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Almighty Lord, after these statements in the last three verses of Chapter 6, he begins the seven Remembering that it is a letter that was not written in Chapter and Verse he continues the same reasoning he begins verse 1 of Chapter 7 saying having therefore, O beloved Such promises What are the promises verse 16 I will dwell and walk among them I will be their God they you will be my people verse 17 I
will receive you verse 18 I will be your father and you will be my sons and daughters says the Lord Almighty all these promises are Promises of closeness of intimacy of communion and relationship so verse one begins by saying having therefore O beloved With these Promises, we purify ourselves from all impurity of both the Flesh and the Spirit, perfecting our holiness in the fear of God. In other words, the reason why we decide to purify ourselves and perfect our holiness is to live the fulfillment of the promises of closeness of intimate relationships, we need to
understand that holiness has a very specific purpose, it is not something that God necessarily imposed just based on fear and threat, in fact something that you and I also need to understand is that God always expected obedience based on love the other day I saw someone saying that fear was a thing of the Ancient Ones Testament but love is a thing of the new testament and I say it's nonsense to say that and Deon 11 God says You will love the Lord your God and obey all your commandments obedience had love as its main motivation
in the old testament in the new Jesus also says what He has my commandments and keeps them, this is the one who loves me, obviously the love that is the desire for the person and his closeness should be what promotes the obedience that Jesus taught was nothing new S an obedience based on love was a continuity however What you and I also need to understand is that although holiness must be sought primarily through love, this does not exclude fear because according to Corinthians 7:1, which we just read, it says perfecting your holiness in the fear
of God, then not you can say that fear is only a thing in the old testament, it is logical in the old testament in Exodus in chapter 20, for example, when God reveals himself on Sinai, giving the 10 commandments, the Bible says, all the people, I will read from verses 18 to 20, all the people witnessed it. the thunder, the lightning, the blare of the trumpet and the Smoking Mountain and the people watching it trembled and stood at a distance, they said to Moses, you speak to us and we will listen to you, but do
not God speak to us so that we do not die, Moses replied to the people, there is no more, God has come to test you and that your fear may be before you so that you will not sin that your fear will be before you so that you will not sin but in Hebrews in chapter 12 from verse 25 The Bible says be careful be careful do not refuse him who speaks, for if those who refused to listen to the one who divinely warned them on earth did not escape, much less do we who hate
him who warns us from heaven, the one whose voice then shook the earth, but now he promises, saying once for all I will shake not only the earth but also the sky, look at this word once again, once for all, it means removing those things that were shaken as they had been done, so that the things that are not shaken remain there, the writer says, therefore, we receive an unshakable kingdom. let us retain grace So you are talking about the New Testament of grace by which we come to God in a pleasant way with reverence
and Holy fear because our God is Consuming Fire you find both love and fear in the old and the New Testament one day I was talking about Divine judgment and consequences of Sin I remember someone interrupted me in a classroom and said if what you're saying about God is true I'm scared of him I said it's good that you have it then he said but I was taught to obey out of love Not out of fear, I said, I had to teach the right thing, Jesus said this, the one who has my commandments, The Guard,
this is the one who loves me, or the primary motivation has to be love, he said, but if you are talking about fear, you are contradicting, I said, contradicting, not complementing, I said. so let me explain this better to you, I said even though the primary motivation of Obedience is love, I said, do you believe that your love is perfect, that there is no less chance of it failing, I said in accordance with Jesus writing to the angel of the Church of Ephesus in the Apocalypse and said that someone can lose their first love, I
said, if the motivation for Obedience is just love and you lose it, how does it end, I said, this is the same logic as a skydiver wanting to jump with just one parachute and not having a spare, I said, love is the main parachute fear is the reserve parachute if one doesn't open the other opens But that you don't burst and don't get torn apart I said if you ask me if I was an obedient son I'll say yes no I never I disobeyed but I obeyed more than I disobeyed so I'm in the other
classification now when I obeyed I did it out of love or out of fear of my parents. There were times when it was just one, there were times when it was just the other, there were times when it was mixed, there were times that in the Misto it was more one than the other but I remember Especially when it came to obeying my father that fear was also there, you know, you and I really need to understand that despite fear, because we know the principles of a just God, the main motivation it should be love
even though fear is called the principle of wisdom So what do you and I need to understand that we do not run away from sin because our religion does not allow it but because we want so much to preserve communion with it that we are not crazy to create problem for a relationship should be intimate when potif's wife teaches José José and says Dona, the Grand Prize is not you, how would I commit such evil against God, the grand prize, the trophy is he is not you, and says then I won't exchange the real trophy
for what you think it is and if you and I understand that the purpose of holiness is intimacy and communion Then we will cultivate This by focusing on one thing, preserving or developing Our Communion and our intimacy with you when you look at it this way Holiness is not a burden that you and I have to carry, it is a way of preserving the greatest level of pleasure and delight that anyone can have who is in the presence of the Lord dav says in the presence of the Lord the fullness of joy at his right
hand delights perpetually is another thing that I see the importance of God rescuing the culture of fasting fasting does not make you and I avoid only what is prohibited in the Bible there is an element called consecration is that vows and abstinence always entered were people often Opening use of lawful things in addition to lawful and pleasurable things aiming to connect to another level of pleasure that is not normally perceived when our faculties are focused only on natural and earthly Pleasures. So you imagine that the only reason that Paul first gave to the Corinthians chapter
7 verse 5 so that the husband and wife couple took a break from the moment of intimacy in the Revival that they were supposed to have at home and said it is when by mutual agreement they have a single exception dedicated to prayer does not mean that if the couple is experiencing intimacy You are making a mistake but many Sometimes this pause can disconnect the flesh and soul a little And allow through prayer to have a perception of other Pleasures that are even greater but that are not normally enjoyed when someone only lives in the
awareness of what is on this side if we we began to perceive a place of communion and intimacy at our disposal, good to finish, I want to highlight the value of holiness, I remember that I was still a teenager, one day a young man from church came to talk to me, we played well, until today that hasn't changed a lot, but in the past it was worse than young teenagers in church, it was like water and oil didn't mix and it was only from an older person that I came Talking to us, we felt it
was really important. The guy came and asked me a question and said Hey, would you sell the little finger on your left hand for 1 million dollars? I immediately closed my hand, no way, he said man, the little finger. you use your left hand even less because you're from this 1 million dollars I said I wouldn't sell it he said and for 10 I also said no, the little finger on my left hand 10 million dollars I said I wouldn't sell it he said and for 100 I said it to first place you don't Is
it possible to pay according to I don't understand where it's going? He said no, I'm just trying to help you measure values. I think that until today you had never thought about how much your hand was worth. I said no, I said if you don't even sell your finger Minguin on the left hand for 10 million dollars, how much is the entire right hand worth, the one you need most? I said it's priceless, don't you see, I said, I don't understand Where do you want to go? He said, I'm helping you measure, I said, I
don't need to know. the value of your hand he said no this is just a comparison now I want to ask you how much is God's holiness worth to you Wow I said what is it like he said well if you can't even give a price for a hand that is so valuable that it is remember that Jesus said this hand That is worth many more millions of dollars than you decided to measure it makes you sin cut And throw it away but don't sin and say the day you understand boy He told me that
holiness is worth more than the millions of dollars maybe you will take this thing more seriously and for a dramatic teenager that was the shock I needed it was the first time I thought As the carioca from Baixada Caraca would say holiness is worth a lot she is very important you and I need to understand that according to the Bible it is not worth more than the hand it is worth more than life itself Hebrews Chapter 12 says I have not yet resisted to the blood in the fight against sin you know what he is
saying shed your blood life itself die but Don't give yourself over to sin, then sin is not worth holiness is not worth more than your hand, it's worth more than your life, but the problem is that we have a messed up value system, so you have a sign on a road that says dangerous curve. and most don't reduce rollovers in accidents in droves But then the guy from the government or from the highway administration decides to put a radar And it's there under inspection subject to a fine and that group goes to 60 per hour
because somehow the value of the fine seems to be worth more to him than life itself because sometimes we have a confusing system of values and God wants us to have a correct system of values and you need to understand that if holiness is the bridge to intimacy and if God is the most important valuable thing we have we need to preserve sanctity many years ago I was already married So it's been less than 26 years but I still didn't have children my oldest is 24 So I'm going to guess that it was more or
less in the middle of 25 years ago I had prepared a message to preach on Sunday and on Saturday I was preaching outside in another city but I woke up with the inner testimony that that message that had been ready and prepared since the beginning of the week was not the message that God wanted me to preach and when I woke up with that impression it gave me despair because I was going to minister all day I wasn't going to have time for anything when the last meeting of the night ended we would have a
meeting with the church leadership after it me and my wife sat with the pastor and his wife, I knew I was going to sleep at 2 or 3 in the morning, as it happened, I knew I was going to sleep at that time after being tired, I wouldn't be able to get up early, knowing the hospitality of the interior of Paraná, I said these people don't let us go out Without eating, it would be more hours of car travel, I would arrive practically at worship time, I wouldn't have time for anything and I was already
experiencing that anticipatory anguish thinking God it's not possible I thought I had it right But now I don't have time I need it Lord do something, send something yourself and in the middle of all that rush in ministering there was no time for anything when I finally went to sleep at 2 3 am as I had predicted I remember I said God I can't stay up studying and I can't get up early in the morning as I have accumulated lack of sleep and tiredness, so I said I'm going to appeal to the biblical promise to
your loved ones, if you give it while you sleep, send something while I DMO and that night I had a dream in that dream I was standing in the middle of nowhere pastor define nothing nothing there was no ground there was I can't even explain I'm standing in the middle of nowhere some spiritual things are difficult to explain and I notice someone approaching from behind me on my left side that person for about 2 3 meters behind me and I also don't know how I knew I was getting closer because there was no ground, there
was no step But I knew and I feel the enormous curiosity to look and see who is there but I feel like I don't have permission to look but the person there starts talking to me and says what you woke up feeling the day before in your spirit inner testimony Is it correct the Holy Spirit is telling you that this message you prepared can be preached on any other Sunday but it is not the message for this Sunday, I wanted to answer this, I kind of already knew what I needed to know, what to preach,
but it seems like anything I sketched out as a thought inside me, he heard it and suddenly it appears in front of me nowadays, we would call a multimedia projection that time we would explain it by saying the rectum projected that they are from that time I see a verse in front of me that is there in Ecclesiastes chapter 10 Verse 1 the text of Ecclesiastes Chapter 10 verse 1 says the following like a dead fly What is the dead flies make a fuss about the perfumers, they alarm the smell, so it's for wisdom, honor
a little, then when I read this text in front of me, I was already terrified, I thought what's going to come out of there, the person behind me said That's the text in the message of tomorrow must be based and I remember that looking with this desperation What comes out of that he said there is a literal message but there is also a symbolic Prophetic and this Prophetic that God wants you to preach I thought I didn't understand Not even the literal one what to say to Prophetic And as I said It's as if I'm
thinking he listens to me and says the literal message you can understand it from a popular saying that you have I don't know if here in Bahia up there in Su we usually say So and so can get it right 1000 times but being wrong once there is a place where the saying is only getting it right 100 but no matter how many times you get it right you make a mistake, what are we trying to say that a little bad thing outweighs a lot of good things comrade did everything right, his whole life was
nonsense in the end he will be remembered for what the nonsense he did and not for everything right he did before so the text is saying this like this is for wisdom honor a little nice compromises everything and then to set an example he says like a dead fly, the perfumer's agent doesn't make it smell proportionally, it has more perfume than the fly But a little bad thing compromises a lot of good things How perfume was made in the past, it wasn't industrialized like today they leave the essence of flowers and flowers in the oil
plants, the oil to this day has the power to draw not only smell but also flavor, that's why normally we put a lot of seasoning in the oil and it has not only flavor but also smell, so they left it enjoying it, now if a moosa fell and the person behind me, he explained, don't think about the homemade mosquito that you know today and dis Thinks of something more similar, where I grew up, we call it maria stinky, I don't know here pcj Fed Fed Maria fedor is an insect that has many names mesis that
[Music ] dead fly, its bad smell would cover up a lot of perfume, in other words, a little of good things compromises a little of bad things compromises a lot of good things but he says this is the literal message a little of it compromises a lot of wisdom and honor but he spoke the Prophetic message symbolic is the following, the oil represents Anointing From the Holy Spirit, the perfume speaks of the good testimony, he first quotes me from Corinthians 2, which God manifests through second Corinthians 2, the good perfume of Christ and says, but
flies are a symbol of impurity and he says a little impurity has the power to compromise a lot of anointing in someone's life and says what is missing for you modern church is not anointing what is missing from your anointing is effectiveness because you have been sabotaging the anointing by being permissive with impurities and that person behind me says in order for you to understand the message to be communicated you need to answer the question that I'm going to ask you he asked me why the fly fell into the perfume and I honestly also said
I don't know the text just says it fell it doesn't say why it fell but the person behind me said it's a matter of logic the fly only fell because the perfume was uncovered uncovered if I had protected It would never have fallen is the message you will preach tomorrow he said if I preach it today exhort my people to protect the anointing and holiness not to spoil the small impurities Song 2:15 speaks of the little foxes that destroy the vines the word translated fox is the fox's cub It may even be smaller than the
normal fox but it has the same nature and the same power of damage if you and I start to have an attitude of protecting sanctity we are Protecting the value that It has to do with communion and intimacy, which is what we need to understand. I remember one day I saw my son give an illustration that really moved me and he said, suppose there was a hypothetical way for you to take a trip towards the approaching sun. of the Sun what you would discover if you got too close is that it would consume you and
destroy you because your physical structure cannot withstand an approach to the Sun unless you were of the same essence and chemical nature as the sun then you could not only approach but mixing and saying a holy God cannot approach sinful beings ISS when Isaiah has the revelation of God's holiness and says woe is me, I will perish it is not possible to get close but when God proposes to us holiness that involves a change of nature to being similar to him is because when we become of the same nature as him we can not only
approach without being destroyed we can merge Paul says he who unites with the Lord is one spirit with him the great final focus of holiness is a sense of community Sin still separates us from our God, one of the great Christian writers of our time said Saints without sanctity, the tragedy of Christianity, I saw here pointing the finger, I didn't see here throwing [Music] any kind of judgment Or condemnation of your past or from your present I came to present you with a new perspective of the future when Isaiah measures God's holiness he manages to
contrast his lack of holiness if you don't begin to understand what God's holiness is we will never understand what we are missing but When God exposes what we are missing, he exposes us to the point of condemning us at the moment when Isaiah says woe is me, I am a man of unclean lips . altar and touches or toasts the mouth of the prophet one day someone asked me pastor what is the mystery of touching the mouth I said there is no mystery he recognized that the problem was in the mouth God can only work
on those areas of our life that we recognize that we are in missing if he had said I am a man with impure eyes perhaps there would be two Embers in his eyes but the moment he recognizes what is missing God says but I have Supernatural Sanctification for you and then sanctify you God still allows him to hear the God himself is saying who will I send to who will go for us ? Holy great eternal God care enough about me and you when you say it's bad that I'm going to let you walk away
from me without fighting for our relationship another one said to me he saw me preach about holiness he said you're putting weight on people I said weight for you who don't want commitment Jeez João says the commandments are not painful they are pleasurable I was It's worth reading a little of Psalm 119 for those who actually understand what the word of God is, walk in it it's not burdensome it's pleasurable because the highest level of delight is awaiting us in this dimension of communion and intimacy with God when God He created man there in Edem,
established him what he wanted, communion, he visited, oh, every single day, people, I joke, he respected. Not even Adam and Eve's honeymoon were they visiting every day, and when man sinned, what is God's first speech in Garden God doesn't say to Adam what did you ask God's question to Adam is where are you to me what God is saying is the problem is not what you did man The problem is where what you did took you away from me I want you back the plan of Redemption is not just forgiving the sin of man continues
to sin and remaining far away, it is to forgive and transform to bring us closer so that the eternal purpose of communion is lived, intimacy is lived, who understands me? I want to invite you to stand up we will pray together I will ask that even when the music begins to be given that you do not sing along at first I will ask you to Pray I will ask you to Pray as everything from now on would depend on this time of prayer We've been talking a lot about revival and something you need to know
after the first centuries of the Christian era, the manifestations of the Spirit were waning, I'm not going to say they disappeared, but they were so few and rare that one reason is that a doctrine called sensationalism was created to the point of people trying to justify the absence of the Manifest of the gifts as if it were no longer for our time at the turn of the 10th century Pro 20 the Pentecostal Movement begins and spreads throughout the earth like fire in dry grass but what most people do not You know the history of the
movement before the Pentecostal Movement became the Pentecostal Movement, it began slowly and progressively since the 10th century, moving towards what became known in history as the holiness movement and because there was a profound Sanctification, God can do the same thing which I said through the prophet Joel and it will come to pass after this that you will repent if you consecrate yourselves by fasting with prayer and it will come to pass after this that I will pour out of my spirit on all flesh after years of preparation for sanctification because Sanctification has always been the
way which paves the way for the arrival of Ava, it begins with repentance, it expands to Sanctification and Consecration, the search for God is what the movement came about, but somehow after the Pentecostal Movement began, the initial emphases were forgotten and we began to try to live only by the power of the Spirit without realizing that as we sacrificed the essence of the life of sanctification, the same power that we still value no longer manifests itself in the same way. There is Only One Way To live the revival that God has promised for the time
of the end, that path is Sanctification I started my ministry, in fact, a zeal for Revival has been burning in my heart since I was a teenager. It's something like that that's too strong, there's a cry in my heart like Gideon, who is made of the Wonders that our parents told us about, I want to see the supernatural in its form fully restored in the church for many years from the heart of God There is a call for the end time for us to turn to him like never before that will allow us not only
to have the noise the side effects of the Revival which are many signs on the outside a great harvest for God but we are going to live first the essence of the relationship with him which is the place of communion and deep intimacy I don't know what the Holy Spirit wants to deal with you today maybe he will just excite you about a future of holiness being transformed from glory to glory Maybe he is already bothering you to repent in a certain area where sin is still prevalent but whatever he wants to do in your
life he doesn't want any of us to get out of this Place under guilt or condemnation he wants us to leave in the Yearning to live freedom I want you to pray for the Spirit of God to touch you I believe in a Supernatural provision of sanctification like Isaiah received a touch from God you and I can receive John the Baptist spoke about Jesus he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in Fire for a long time I thought it was just an experience because Pentecost talks about fire at the moment they are baptized
in the spirit it took me years to understand the difference between one thing and another because on the day I was baptized in the Holy Spirit at 15 years old something happened that was a revolution in my life that I couldn't explain I kept asking myself why others are baptized in the Holy Spirit they didn't experience what I experienced, the zeal for holiness that is impossible to explain and many years later the Holy Spirit tells me you had two experiences in the same way, the baptism in the Holy Spirit and a baptism of fire and
he says many people didn't have the second and says these truths They have to be proclaimed again the church needs to pray again for These manifestations I believe, who knows, even now or a month later you can experience a baptism of fire I said that Sanctification is Our responsibility but there are Supernatural resources on the part of God let's cry out for this raise your voice to God I want the musicians to feel free to minister I will insist no no Sing With them even as they minister Pray I myself want to say an Initial
prayer for you but you don't stop to listen to mine and continue yours even after I stop Holy Spirit come upon us Holy Spirit we cry out for your touch we cry out for the manifestation of your power we cry out for your breath of life today My God don't let us leave this place with just information father we cry out in the name of [ Music] Jesus we want to leave this place under a touch from the heavens of a Supernatural liberation over our lives to invite faith for Sanctification We pray that your power
will be manifested in our lives We pray for something that is not limited to just here and now but that from now on it grows and progresses within each one of us touch us today we cry out in the name of Jesus Come upon us Holy Spirit surround us now fill us touch us with sanctifying fire as Isaiah was touched touch us touch us today we cry out in the name of Jesus in the name of Jesus [Music] Us [Music]
