of Green Pastures and gentle Hills David was the youngest son of Jesse a respected man from the tribe of Judah while his older brothers were Men of War and experience David spent his days looking after his father's sheep he led them through the fields protected them from danger and played his harp to calm them down but what many didn't know was that God had great plans for this humble Shepherd in the midst of this pastoral setting God's will was about to manifest itself in a surprising way King Saul Israel's first king had disobeyed God and
the Lord decided to choose a new king for his people to do this he sent the prophet Samuel a man of great faith and respect to anoint the new King Samuel obeying God's instructions set off for Bethlehem the prophet's arrival caused a stir in the town as everyone knew that Samuel's visit was never by chance on arriving at Jesse's house Samuel explained his mission Jesse proud introduced his seven eldest Sons to the prophet strong tall and impressive looking men they seem to human eyes to be the perfect candidates for kingship but God doesn't see as
man sees when Samuel looked at eliab the eldest son he thought that surely he was the chosen one however God said to Samuel do not consider his appearance or his height for I have rejected him the Lord does not see as man sees man sees the appearance but the Lord sees the heart one by one Jesse's Sons passed before Samuel but God didn't choose any of them Samuel confused asked Jesse if these were all his sons Jesse replied I still have the youngest who is looking after the Sheep Samuel then asked them to call David
and so David a rough-looking young man with sparkling eyes and a pure heart was brought in from the pasture he was probably surprised and curious not knowing that the fate of the Kingdom of Israel was about to be linked to his own life when Samuel saw David God said rise and anoint him this is he at that solemn moment Samuel took the Horn of oil and anointed David in the presence of his brothers the Spirit of the Lord Came powerfully Upon David from that day on David's anointing as the future king of Israel not only
marked the beginning of his extraordinary Journey but was also a testimony to the divine plan where God chooses the humble and exalts them to accomplish his great purposes David returned to his sheep but his heart was now prepared for the path that God would chart for him he still had a lot to learn and many battles to face but with God's anointing he was destined to become one of Israel's greatest Kings Kings a man after God's Own Heart when the Kingdom of Israel was still under the leadership of King Saul a terrible threat arose to
challenge God's people the Philistines fearsome enemies had set up camp on One Hill while Israel's Army Was preparing on the opposite Hill in the valley between them a giant named Goliath emerged as the champion of the Philistines issuing a challenge that would echo down the ages Goliath was a Colossus of a man almost 3 m tall covered in shining bronze armor that reflected the sun his spear was like a Weaver's beam and his shield was so big that a squire carried it in front of him for 40 days morning and night Goliath would approach the
front line and challenge the Israelites choose a man to fight me if he beats me we will be his servants but if I beat him you will be our servants fear gripped the soldiers of Israel including King Saul himself no one dared face the giant it was then that David still a young Shepherd arrived at the camp to bring food to his brothers who were in the Army on hearing Goliath's words David was indignant how could this uncircumcised Philistine dare to defy the armies of the Living God David was not a trained Warrior he didn't
have the combat experience of his brothers or the soldiers around him but he had something the others didn't an unshakable faith in God David went to King Saul and offered to fight Goliath Saul initially reluctant questioned David's ability but David responded with confidence telling how God had delivered him from the clutches of lions and bears while he was tending his father's sheep with Saul's blessing David refused the king's armor which was too heavy and restrictive for him instead he took his sling a simple weapon he had mastered since childhood from the nearby stream he picked
out five smooth stones and put them in his Shepherd's bag with sling in hand he headed for the battlefield when Goliath saw the young David approaching he laughed and mocked am I a dog that you should come at me with sticks but David full of courage and Faith replied you come against me with sword Spear and shield but I come against you in the name of the Lord of hosts the god of the armies of Israel whom you have defied with those words David ran towards Goliath he took a stone from his bag put it
in his sling and threw it with deadly accuracy the stone flew through the air and hit Goliath in the forehead Sinking Deep the giant toppled forward falling to the ground with a thud David ran up to Goliath grabbed the Giant's sword and beheaded him ensuring Israel's Victory David's Act of Bravery changed the course of the battle the Philistines seeing their Champion defeated by a young Shepherd fled in despair the army of Israel pursued them winning a great Victory David was hailed as a hero by all of Israel his unshakable faith in God and His courage
in the face of an immense adversary made him a symbol of Hope and strength this Victory marked the beginning of David's rise not just as a great warrior but as a leader who trusted the Lord completely amidst the Whirlwind of battles and intrigues in the Kingdom of Israel a friendship emerged that would stand out as one of the deepest and most loyal ever recorded David and Jonathan a friendship forged in brother ly love and unwavering loyalty even in the midst of great adversity after David's victory over Goliath he was brought before King Saul at that
moment David met Jonathan Saul's firstborn son Jonathan a prince and a valiant Warrior saw in David not just a hero but a soulmate David's courage faith and humility resonated deeply with Jonathan who also possessed these qualities from that day on Jonathan and David formed an in separable Bond recognizing David's greatness Jonathan made a pact of Friendship with him to seal this pact Jonathan gave David his Royal robes his armor his sword his bow and his belt this act was not only a symbol of friendship but also an acknowledgement of David's future kingship Jonathan although the
rightful heir to the throne saw God's hand upon David and accepted his Destiny with humility and Grace the friendship between David and Jonathan flourished in a context of growing tension in danger King Saul initially impressed by David soon turned against him consumed by jealousy and the fear of losing his throne Saul repeatedly tried to kill David on several occasions David's life was saved thanks to Jonathan's loyalty and brotherly love one of the most powerful demonstrations of this friendship happened when Saul in his Fury ordered David to be killed Jonathan aware of his father's plans warned
David and hatched a plan to discover Saul's intentions during a court celebration Jonathan tested Saul's disposition and when he realized his father's true intentions he ran to warn David they met secretly in the field Jonathan with tears in his eyes informed David of the imminent danger they embraced and wept together aware of the risk and pain that this situation brought Jonathan asked David to take care of his family in the future and reaffirmed his commitment to their Eternal friendship David promised and they said goodbye knowing that they might never see each other again even at
a distance David and Jonathan's friendship endured Jonathan continued to intercede for David trying to assuage his father's anger while David ran and hid for his life in the midst of all this David always remembered Jonathan's words and sacrifice remaining faithful to his promise tragedy finally struck when Jonathan along with his father Saul died in battle against the Philistines the news devastated David he deeply mourned the loss of his dear friend composing a funeral song that expressed the depth of his grief and the beauty of the Friendship they had shared David sang how the mighty have
fallen in the midst of battle Jonathan my dear friend you were very dear to me even after Jonathan's death David honored his promise when David became king he sought out Jonathan's surviving son mbth and brought him to live in the palace treating him as one of his own Sons this action showed that David's loyalty and love for Jonathan transcended time and death perpetuating the legacy of their friendship David and Jonathan's friendship remains a powerful example of Brotherly Love loyalty and sacrifice although David had served King Saul Faithfully he came to be seen as a growing
threat the origin of this fear and hatred began after David's famous victory over Goliath As Time passed songs of praise for David resounded throughout Israel Saul killed thousands and David tens of thousands these words inflamed Saul's insecurity and jealousy the relationship between David and Saul quickly deteriorated Saul's jealousy turned into paranoia on several occasions Saul tried to kill David with his own spear while David played the harp to calm the king down each failed attempt only increased Saul's anger and his certainty that David was a threat to his throne in one of these attempts Saul
ordered that David be brought to the Palace to be executed but Jonathan Saul's son and David's best friend interceded and convinced his father not to kill David despite this temporary intervention Saul's heart didn't change shortly afterwards he again plotted David's death David realizing the imminent danger decided to flee with the help of his wife mikol who was Saul's daughter David escaped through the window of their house mikl tricked Saul's Soldiers by putting an idol in David's bed pretending that he was Ill while Saul discovered the deception David was already far away beginning his life as
a fugitive from that moment on David was constantly on the Move always one step ahead of Saul's soldiers he found refuge in unlikely places including the enemy cities of the Philistines and the caves of the mountain m one of these caves the cave of adullam became a sanctuary for David and a growing group of discontented and indebted men who joined him forming a loyal army during this period of flight David had two opportunities to kill Saul the first took place in the cave of engedi where Saul entered to rest without knowing that David and his
men were hiding in the shadows instead of Killing Him David cut off a piece of Saul's cloak proving that he could have killed him but chose to spare him he confronted Saul outside the cave showing the piece of cloak as evidence of his loyalty Saul momentarily moved recognized David's righteousness but the hatred in his heart did not disappear the second opportunity came when David and his nephew abashi broke into Saul's Camp during the night they found Saul asleep with his spear stuck in the ground next to his head once again David spared Saul's life taking
only the spear and the King's water jug as proof the next morning David revealed his action reiterating his innocence and faithfulness to the Lord's anointed this long Chase was not only a test of courage and skill for David but also a spiritual test in the midst of constant danger and betrayal David learned to trust God completely he composed many of the Psalms during these years expressing his anguish fears but also his unshakable Faith and Hope in the Lord eventually the pursuit ended with the tragic death of Saul and Jonathan in a battle against the Philistines
on Mount gilboa Saul seriously wounded fell on his own sword to avoid being captured on hearing of Saul and Jonathan's deaths David mourned deeply composing a funeral song that expressed his respect for Saul and his grief at the loss of Jonathan the persecution of Saul was a tumultuous and painful period in David's life but it was also a time of refinement and preparation David emerged from this phase as a stronger leader and a man of deep Faith ready to assume the Throne of Israel with wisdom and humility on his journey as a fugitive David found
refuge in many unlikely places but one of the most significant was the cave of adullam located in a mountainous region this cave offered natural safety from external dangers including Saul's Relentless Pursuits however the cave of adullam would not just be a hiding place for David it it would become the Cradle of a loyal Army and a transformative Community David fleeing from Saul's murderous jealousy found himself alone and helpless but his Solitude didn't last long as his location became known men from all over Israel began to arrive at the cave they were men in distress in
debt and unhappy with life under Saul's Reign many of them were outcasts rejected by Society but they saw in David a leader with whom they could identify they came in small groups bringing with them their hopes fears and a burning desire for change the cave of adullam quickly filled with activity David with his natural Charisma and Leadership skills welcomed these men and began to mold them into a cohesive force he listened to them shared their pain and fears and above all inspired in them a vision of a better future David was not just a military
leader he was a Shepherd Of Hearts guiding and strengthening those around him among the first to join David were his own brothers and all his father's household they too feared for David's safety in their own recognizing that being by his side was the safest and most promising place this family Unity provided David with essential emotional support further reinforcing his role as a leader the atmosphere in the cave was a mixture of military training and spirituality David a skilled Warrior and strategist taught his men combat and defense tactics they practiced with rudimentary weapons learning to fight
together as a unit but David also LED through faith he shared stories of how God had delivered him from danger in the past and how he believed that God would continue to guide and protect them David's words full of Faith and Hope echoed in the cave strengthening the hearts of his followers during this period David composed many of the Psalms we know today he sang about his trust in God his anguish and his hopes these songs served not only as personal prayers but as anthems of strength for everyone around him David's words resounded in the
cave transforming a space of Despair into a sanctuary of faith and resistance the cave of adullam was not just a hiding place it became a symbol of transformation men who arrived there distressed and desperate came out as courageous Warriors ready to follow David into any battle David's leadership marked by compassion courage and an unshakable Faith transformed those ordinary men into a force that would challenge Saul's Reign and protect Israel's Future these men became the basis of David's future armies among them were some of the Bravest Warriors the Bible mentions such as the three who risked
their lives to fetch water for David from a well in Bethlehem and the 30 his Elite Warriors the cave of adullam was the place where these alliances were formed and where a loyal and dedicated Army was born in his constant flight David faced many trials but some of the most notable were his opportunities to show Mercy to King Saul these occasions revealed not only David's courage and cunning but above all his deep reverence for God's Will and the Holiness of the Lord's anointed David's first opportunity came in the caves of engedi Saul with 3,000 men
chosen from all over Israel was searching for David in order to kill him during the search Saul went into a cave gave to rest unaware that David and his men were hiding deeper down in a moment of great tension David's men whispered to him that this was his chance to kill Saul and take the throne that God had promised him however David with impressive wisdom and Faith decided against it instead of killing Saul David quietly approached him and cut off a piece of the king's robe even this act caused David great remorse he knew that
although he had the opportunity to finish off his enemy raising his hand against the Lord's anointed was an act he could not justify when Saul left the cave David came out after him holding the piece of cloak and shouting to the king my Lord the king when Saul turned around David prostrated himself with his face to the ground and showed the cut piece of cloak saying today the Lord has delivered you into my hands in the cave some said to kill you but I spared you I said I will not raise my hand against my
master for he is the Lord's anointed when Saul heard David's words and saw the proof of his Mercy he was moved he wept and acknowledged David's righteousness saying you are more righteous than I am for you treated me well but I treated you badly you have shown today that you are the best for you spared my life when the Lord delivered me into your hands David's second opportunity came sometime later in the desert of zif Saul was hunting David again and the King and his men camped overnight David and abashi his nephew infiltrated the camp
at night and found Saul asleep with his spear stuck in the ground next to his head once again the temptation to end Saul's persecution was within David's grasp abishai whispered God has delivered your enemy into your hands today let me kill him with one thrust of my Spear and I won't have to do it again but David firm in his faith and principles replied don't kill him who can raise his hand against the Lord's anointed and remain innocent instead of taking Saul's life David took the king's Spear and water jug and they quietly left the
camp when they were a safe distance away David called out to the commander of Saul's Army Awakening everyone in the camp he showed the spear and water jug proving once again that he had Saul's life in his hands but chose to spare him these acts of clemency were not just gestures of Mercy they were powerful Declarations of David's integrity and his submission to God's will he recognized that Saul's life and fate were in the Lord's hands not his the choice to spare Saul on two occasions demonstrated the true nature of David's heart a heart according
to God's will which valued Justice mercy and respect for divine plans above personal desires for revenge or power David's actions left an indelible mark on Israel's history they showed everyone that the true leader is the one who trusts in God's timing and Justice and not in his own hands David's clemency therefore is an eternal example of how faith and humility can Prevail over hatred and revenge lighting the way for all who seek to follow God's ways the death of Saul and Jonathan marked one of the most tragic and transformative moments in Israel's history it All
Began in a fateful battle against the Philistines on Mount gilboa Saul Israel's first king was fighting desperately to defend his kingdom at his side was his son Jonathan David's loyal friend and Ally the battlefield was full of chaos and despair and the Philistines with their military superiority were advancing relentlessly Saul seeing his men fall around him and realizing that defeat was inevitable was seriously wounded by the enemy Army archers in a last Act of desperation and to avoid capture and humiliation by the Philistines Saul asked his armor Bearer to kill him the Squire terrified refused
so Saul with a heavy heart fell on his own sword taking his own life Jonathan fighting bravely alongside his father also met his end in the same battle the news of Saul and Jonathan's deaths traveled quickly and reached David's ears he was in ziklag a city that had been granted to him by the Philistines during his Exile when David heard the terrible news he tore his clothes in a gesture of deep sorrow and lamentation he wept for Saul the king who had often tried to kill him and for Jonathan his dear friend and sole Brother
David composed a song of lamentation known as the song of the bow in homage to Saul and Jonathan in his song David expressed his grief and respect extoling the courage and greatness of Saul and Jonathan he ordered that the song be taught to all the children of Judah so that their memory would never be forgotten with Saul's death a power vacuum emerged in Israel the tribes were confused and disorganized with no clear leader to guide them David recognized by many as the legitimate successor due to his anointing by the prophet Samuel returned to Hebron a
town in the tribe of Judah there the men of Judah gathered and anointed David as their King this was the the first phase of David's Ascension to the throne beginning with his Reign Over Judah during this time the house of Saul led by Ish bth Saul's surviving son still held control over part of the Kingdom with the support of Abner the commander of Saul's Army there was a period of conflict and rivalry between the house of Saul and the House of David however David showed exceptional political and Military skill as well as remarkable patience and
Justice eventually Abner tired of the the war and recognizing David's legitimacy changed his Allegiance and negotiated the unification of the tribes of Israel under David's rule unfortunately Abner was murdered by joab the commander of David's Army in Revenge for his brother David deeply saddened by Abner's death publicly mourned and proclaimed that Abner had died a hero with the death of ish bth by traitors who hoped to gain favor with David the way was finally open for the unification of the Kingdom David always just had ishbosheth murderers punished showing once again his commitment to Justice and
morality the tribes of Israel came to Hebron and anointed David as king of all Israel this moment was a milestone in Israel's history as David not only became king of Judah but of all the tribes unifying the kingdom under his rule David established his capital in Jerusalem a neutral City that symbolized the unity of all the tribes as King David Consolidated his reign expanded Israel's territories and brought prosperity and stability to the kingdom his ability to lead his faith in God and His deep sense of justice and compassion made him one of the greatest Kings
in Israel's history David's Ascension to the throne marked by respect wisdom and a unifying Vision set the stage for Israel's Golden Age one of the most remarkable moments of David's Reign was the decision to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem this act was not just a political achievement but a spiritual move of great importance symbolizing the centralization of the worship of God and uniting the tribes of Israel under a common Faith the Ark of the Covenant was a sacred artifact built during the time of Moses and contained the tablets of the Ten Commandments
a jar of mana and Aaron's staff the presence of the Ark symbolized God's presence among the people of Israel however during the years of conflict and Chaos the ark had been forgotten and left in kyj jarim Far From The Heart of the Kingdom David wishing to reaffirm the people's commitment to God and consolidate Jerusalem as the spiritual and political Center of Israel decided to bring the ark to the holy city he gathered the leaders of Israel priests and Levites and prepared a great procession to transport the ark the event was planned with great care and
devotion reflecting the importance of this historic moment the day of the procession was a monumental event crowds of Israelites gathered along the way eager to see the ark and take part in the celebration David dressed in a simple Priestly robe led the procession with joy and reverence he danced with all his might before the Lord accompanied by musicians playing Harps Liars tambourines symbols and Trumpets the sound of Sacred Music filled the air and the people sang and danced in Ecstasy but the journey to Jerusalem was not uneventful at one point on the journey The Oxen
carrying the ark stumbled and usza one of the escorts instinctively reached out to grasp the ark when he touched the ark he was immediately struck by God's Wrath and died this event terrified David and the people leading David to interrupt the procession and leave the Ark in the house of obededom a levite for 3 months during these three months Obed edom's house was blessed abundantly which confirmed to David that he needed to bring the ark to Jerusalem with renewed determination David organized a new procession this time taking extra precautions to ensure that everything was done
according to the sacred guidelines the Levites carried the Ark on their shoulders using poles as instructed by God when the ark finally arrived in Jerusalem the city erupted in celebration David offered sacrifices of oxen and fat Rams and he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of hosts he distributed bread date cakes and raisin cakes to all the men and women present ensuring that everyone shared in the joy and blessing of that day David then brought the ark into a tent he had prepared establishing Jerusalem as Israel's new spiritual center he ordered ASF
and his levite brothers to minister continually before the ark singing praises and giving thanks to the Lord this action reinforced the importance of Jerusalem as the heart of God's worship and United the people in One Faith however not everyone shared David's Joy mial his wife and Saul's daughter saw David dancing and rejoicing before the Lord and despised him in her heart when David returned to bless his house mial confronted him criticizing him for his lack of dignity David replied that he danced before the Lord who had chosen him above his father in all his household
and that he would continue to Humble himself and rejoice before God David's decision to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem was not just an act of personal devotion but a strategic move that strengthened Israel's unity and Consolidated Jerusalem as the holy city the celebration that accompanied this event marked one of the most joyous and significant moments in Israel's history highlighting David's spiritual leadership and deep Faith this event established a lasting Legacy uniting the people of Israel in worship and Faith centered on God's presence in Jerusalem despite his devout heart David committed a grave
sin by taking Beth Sheba uriah's wife for himself and subsequently orchestrating uriah's death this event was a turning point in his life and Reign at a time when kings used to go to war David remained in Jerusalem while his armies led by joab besieged the city of rabba one day at dusk David got up from his bed and strolled out onto the Terrace of the Royal Palace from there he saw a very beautiful woman bathing the woman was bath Sheba the wife of Uriah one of David's Valiant Warriors David overcome with passion sent Messengers to
fetch baath Sheba she came to him and David lay with her shortly afterwards bath Sheba sent a message to David saying that she was pregnant this put David in a delicate position as adultery not only violat God's law but would also bring dishonor to both him and bath Sheba and her family determined to hide his sin David sent a message to joab ordering Uriah to be sent back to Jerusalem when Uriah arrived David tried to get him to go home and lie with his wife in the hope that the pregnancy would be attributed to him
but Uriah being an honorable and faithful man refused to go home while his fellow soldiers slept in the open he spent the night at the entrance to the palace with David's servants desperate David devised a more Sinister plan he sent Uriah back to the battlefield taking with him a sealed letter to joab the letter instructed joab to put Uriah on the front line where the fighting was fiercest and then Retreat leaving Uriah exposed to the enemy joab obeyed David's orders and Uriah was killed in battle after bath sheba's mourning period David took her as his
wife and she bore him a son in the eyes of men David had managed to cover up his sin but nothing was hidden from the eyes of God the Lord sent Nathan the prophet to confront David Nathan told David a parable about a rich man who had many flocks and a poor man who had only one U lamb that he loved like a daughter the rich man instead of taking one of his own animals took the poor man's U lamb to prepare A Feast for a visitor David indignant at the Injustice of the story declared
that the rich man deserv deserved death and should pay four times the value of the Lamb Nathan then looked David straight in the eye and said you're the man he explained how David had despised the word of the Lord by taking uriah's wife and orchestrating her death Nathan prophesied that the sword would never depart from David's house that evil would rise up against him from his own family and that the son born of his Union with Beth Sheeba would die David deeply repentant confessed his sin to to Nathan and to God saying I have sinned
against the Lord Nathan replied that the Lord had forgiven his sin and that he would not die but that the child born of this Union would certainly die David fasted and prayed fervently for the baby but after 7 Days the child died David realizing God's justice and mercy got up washed anointed himself changed his clothes and went to the house of the Lord to worship him he then returned home and comforted bath Sheba who conceived again and gave birth to Solomon whom the Lord loved David's sin with ba Sheba and the consequences that followed were
a turning point in his life although he suffered great loss and faced tribulation within his own family his sincere repentance and his search for God's mercy kept him in communion with the Lord the story serves as a powerful reminder that despite our mistakes genuine repentance can bring forgiveness and restoration David continued to Reign but with an even more humble and devoted heart aware of God's grace and Justice David's repentance is one of the most profound and touching stories in the Bible showing the heart of a man who despite being a great king was humble enough
to recognize his sins and seek God's mercy this Story begins after David's grave sin with baath Sheba and the murder of Uriah although he tried to hide his mistakes God saw everything and sent the prophet Nathan to confront David as we've already talked about in this video David confronted with the seriousness of his sins didn't try to justify or defend himself instead he recognized his mistake and told Nathan I have sinned against the Lord this acknowledgement marked the beginning of a deep and sincere repentance David turned to God seeking forgiveness with all his heart Psalm
51 is a powerful expression of this repentance in this Psalm David cries out for God's mercy acknowledging his transgression and begging for cleansing and renewal he begins by saying have mercy on me oh God for your love's sake by your great compassion blot out my transgressions David understands that his sin is a direct offense against God and expresses a deep desire to be cleansed and restored David continues in Psalm 51 saying cleanse me with hsip and I shall be clean wash me and I shall be whiter than snow he recognizes that only God can cleanse
his heart and renew his Spirit David not only seeks forgiveness but also asks God for a pure heart and a renewed spirit so that he can once again live in accordance with God's will the psalm reveals the depth of David's relationship with God he doesn't just want to escape the consequence es of his actions he wants a complete transformation David says create in me a pure heart oh God and renew a steadfast Spirit within me do not cast me away from your presence nor take your Holy Spirit from me these words show a sincere desire
to remain in God's presence and to be led by the Holy Spirit David also promises to teach transgressors God's ways so that they too will turn to the Lord he understands that his repentance is not only for his personal benefit but also to serve as an example and guide for others David says then I will teach transgressors your ways and sinners will turn to you Psalm 51 ends with David affirming that God is not pleased with external sacrifices but with a broken and contrite heart he says the sacrifices that please God are a broken Spirit
a broken and contrite heart oh God you will not despise this recognition that God values sincerity and humility above external rituals is a powerful lesson in true repentance David's repentance as expressed in Psalm 51 demonstrates his deep relationship with God and His understanding of the nature of sin and forgiveness even as King David showed that everyone regardless of their position needs God's grace and mercy his story teaches us about the importance of sincere repentance and the search for a pure heart revealing God's goodness and Justice and forgiving those who truly turned to him David's sin
brought turmoil to his family including the rebellion of his son Absalom David faced a lot of pain and internal struggles but he continued to rely on God for guidance and strength after David's grave sins with bath Sheba and the orchestration of uriah's death the prophet Nathan announced that the sword would never depart from the House of David these words came true in a painful and profound way starting with David's own Sons amnon David's firstborn fell obsessively in love with his half-sister Tamar unable to control his desires he deceived and raped her Tamar devastated and disgraced
sought Refuge with her brother Absalon who took her into his home and swore Revenge David was Furious when he discovered what amnon had done but for reasons unknown he didn't take severe action against him 2 years later during a banquet Absalom found the opportunity to avenge Tamar and ordered his servants to kill amnon this act of Revenge and absalom's subsequent flight to geser where he was exiled for 3 years plunged David's family into further pain and turmoil David mourned amnon's death and felt absalom's absence but his heart was torn between paternal love and the duty
of Justice joab commander of David's Army noticed the king's distress and hatched a plan to bring Absalon back to Jerusalem with the help of a wise woman from tocoa joab managed to convince David to allow Absalom to return however even back in Jerusalem Absalom didn't see David's face for 2 years which only increased his resentment and ambition Absalom dissatisfied with his position and craving power began to win the favor of the people of Israel he would stand at the city Gates and listen to The People's complaints promising Justice and attention gradually Absalom gained enough support
to organize a Revolt he went to Hebron where he declared himself King and began his Rebellion against his father the news of absalom's Revolt reached David who surprised and worried for the safety of Jerusalem decided to flee the city with his loyal followers David's flight was a moment of great humiliation and sadness he crossed the kidan valley and climbed the Mount of Olives weeping as he went during this Escape David met shimi a member of Saul's family who cursed him as threw stones at him David showing great humility accepted the insults believing that God might
be using sheim to discipline him while David took refuge in mahanaim Absalom took possession of Jerusalem in the Royal Palace however absalom's Rebellion did not last David's forces led by joab faced absalom's Army in the forest of Ephraim the battle was fierce and many lives were lost Absalom trying to escape got caught by the hair on a tree branch making him an easy target despite David's orders to spare his son joab disobeyed and killed Absalom the news of absalom's death was devastating for David he wept bitterly expressing his desire to have died in his son's
place oh my son Absalom my son my son Absalom I wish I had died in your place oh Absalom there are many other events in David's family which if we told them here would make this video longer than it already is if you write in the comments I could make a video just about David's family problems in the last years of his life David dedicated himself to Preparing the way for one of the greatest projects of his era the construction of the temple in Jerusalem this Temple would be the center of worship for God and
the symbol of God's presence among the people of Israel although David ardently desired to build the temple God revealed to him through the the prophet Nathan that this task would be carried out by his son Solomon even so David was not discouraged and dedicated his last years to Gathering the necessary resources and planning the construction in detail David summoned the leaders of Israel the priests and the Levites and shared his Grand Vision for the temple he explained that God had not allowed him to build the temple because of his many battles and the blood spilled
on his hands however David felt it was his responsibility to prepare everything so that Solomon could fulfill this Divine Mission David with his generous Spirit donated large amounts of gold silver bronze iron wood and precious stones from his personal treasury he also encouraged the leaders and people of Israel to make voluntary contributions to this sacred project in addition to the material resources David organized the shifts of the priests and Levites established the musicians and singers who would serve in the temple and detailed the duties of the officers and guards he left clear instructions on the
construction and decoration of the temple ensuring that everything was done according to the divine plan David wanted the temple to be a place of beauty and Holiness reflecting God's glory in the last days of his life David called a great assembly in Jerusalem he blessed the people and proclaimed Solomon as his successor David urged Solomon to follow God's ways with with all his heart and soul obeying his Commandments and laws David knew that obedience to God was the key to Israel's success and prosperity he also encouraged Solomon to be courageous and steadfast in building the
