Thinking about what will happen on Judgment Day is perhaps one of the heaviest things to think about. The Bible speaks about how when people die, they will stand before God, and that He'll judge them based on how they lived their life. So with a topic as heavy and big as this one, it's important that we see exactly what the Bible has to say.
Because the reality is that one day, whether you believe it or not, God will judge everyone. Look at Romans chapter 14 verses 10 to 14. So see here that it says that everyone will give an account of their life before God.
So know this. All of us, Christians and unbelievers alike, will stand before God and be judged by Him. I must add though, that judgment between these two groups of people will look different as you'll soon see.
So regarding Judgment Day, here's five facts that everyone should know before they die. And because this day will happen in your future at some point, you need to be ready. This video is brought to you by Private Internet Access VPN.

That's Private Internet Access VPN. Okay, back to the video. Fact number one, Jesus will be our judge.
John chapter 5 verse 22, "For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son. " In this passage, Jesus was speaking to certain Jews that disagreed with his teachings. And Jesus told them that God the Father commits or gives the authority to judge to his Son Jesus.
So understand this, that when someone dies, the God that people will stand before will be Jesus himself. Also, if you look at Romans chapter 14 verse 10, the passage we just read a little bit ago, it says that all will stand before the judgment seat of Christ. So now that we know who will judge, the next thing to know is what he will judge.
So, fact number two, Jesus will judge the world in righteousness. Acts chapter 17 verses 30 to 31, "Truly these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because he has appointed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by the man whom he has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising him from the dead.
" In this passage, Paul was speaking to some Greek philosophers and he teaches them that God commands all people everywhere to repent or turn from their sinful ways. And the reason why they should repent is because God has appointed a day when he will judge the world in righteousness. And the way he'll judge them is through a man that he will appoint and as seen in the previous point, the man who will judge them is Jesus himself.
So note here how it says that God will judge the world in righteousness. And the reason why is because according to the Bible, God is a righteous judge who is perfectly pure. And as the creator and rightful ruler of this world, he will judge all his creation with a perfect and just standard.
And according to Romans chapter 6 verse 23, "The punishment and penalty for sin is death. " So you see, God is a righteous God. And when it says that he will judge the world in righteousness, it means that he will judge every wrong and unrighteous act that people have committed.
And if God was truly righteous, which he is, he would not allow anyone to get away with any wrongdoing. So understand that on Judgment Day, everyone's actions will be judged. And for those of you who are thinking, "Well, hasn't everybody sinned and messed up?
" And to you, I'd say, "Yes. " In fact, Romans 3, 23 says that everyone is a sinner. But here's the thing, when Jesus died on the cross about 2000 years ago, the reason why he died was to take the punishment for people's sins.
So if I were to break this down simply, this is what happens. God, according to the Bible, is righteous. And because he's righteous, he must judge all sin and wrongdoings.
And the punishment for sin is death. And death, according to the Bible, has two parts. The first part is physical death, death of the body.
And according to Revelation 20, verse 14, there is a second and final death. And that's being thrown into the lake of fire, also known as hell. So for those of you that may ask, "Why is the punishment for sin death?
" Biblically, according to Romans 1, verse 18, the reason is because God has wrath and is angry against every unrighteous act. Because this is his world, and people all originated with him. So their souls and breath belong to God, who is the God of life.
So when people lie, steal, cheat, and are selfish, they are abusing and mistreating what used to be God's perfect creation. So here's the problem. Everyone is a sinner, and we all have sins in our life that God is angry with.
So according to God's holy and righteous standard, we must all die and go to hell as punishment for our wrongdoings. But that's not the end. Even though God is righteous, God still loved the people of the world, and he wanted to save them.
So God sent Jesus to die on the cross. And the reason why was to pay the penalty of our sins, which was death. So remember all that anger and wrath that God had on people?
Well, he unleashed all of it on Jesus as he died on the cross. So when Jesus died, he paid for the punishment for every sin that was committed. So now here's the good news.
Jesus made it possible for unrighteous people to go to heaven, and the way to go to heaven is by having faith that Jesus died for your sins. Because Romans chapter 5 verse 1 says that people are justified or made righteous by faith. So now going back to the point, Jesus will judge the world in righteousness.
What this means is that Jesus being the righteous judge will use his righteous standard to make everything right on earth. And one of two things will happen. One, he'll either judge people and all their unrighteous acts, which will result in them going to hell for all eternity.
Or two, he will judge people who used to be unrighteous sinners. But because they were made righteous by faith that Jesus died for their sins, they can now go to heaven. And the rest of this video will go into detail on what these judgments will look like.
So fact number three, Jesus will judge the life of an unbeliever. Revelation chapter 20 verses 11 to 12. Then I saw a great white throne and him who sat on it from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away and there was found no place for them.
And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God and the books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged according to their works by the things which were written in the books.
In this passage, we read about something called the great white throne judgment. And this judgment is held only for unbelievers. And it will happen at the end of time.
You see, one day, time won't really be a thing. And people will live on for eternity in either heaven or hell. And one day, God will get rid of the earth as we see it today because he will be creating a new earth and along with it, a new heaven.
So John, the author of the final book of the Bible, sees a great white throne and that heaven and earth will flee from before him. And as God sits on his throne, John sees a bunch of people standing before God. Some will be small and others will be great and tons of books will be opened and one of them will be the book of life.
And it would seem that in these books will be all the works and actions of these people standing before God. So let's continue to read Revelation chapter 20 verses 13 to 15. The sea gave up the dead who were in it and death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them.
And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death and anyone not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
So in this passage, we see that it wasn't just those who are alive in front of the great white throne. There will also be people who have died in the past because here it says that dead people that were in Hades and death were also judged by God according to their works while they were alive. And this is where we read a very heavy truth that people whose name is not found in the book of life will be cast into the lake of fire.
And if you look at Luke chapter 16, people who don't have faith in Jesus will be cast into a place called Hades and we talk about this in our video, What is Hell Like? And Hades is kind of like a waiting area until the great white throne judgment. So regarding Jesus's judgment on unbelievers, this is what will happen.
One day, people who reject God will die or they'll live long enough to see the great white throne judgment. And during this day, books will be opened that will contain all their actions written down and God will judge them according to his righteous standard. And of those books, another will be opened called the book of life.
And anyone whose name is not in there will be cast into the lake of fire. So it would seem that all those who do not have faith in Jesus won't have their name in the book of life and will be doomed for eternity. And for those of you who think, well, I believe in God, I'm fine.
Beware of fact number four, Jesus will judge the life of one who poses as a believer. Matthew chapter seven verses 21 to 23. Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my father in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name, cast out demons in your name and done many wonders in your name? Then I will declare to them, I never knew you. Depart from me you who practice lawlessness.
In this passage, Jesus teaches people that not all those who say to him, Lord, Lord, will get into heaven. And while those people can say, but I did so many things for you, Jesus, Jesus will respond to them and say, I never knew you. And the reason why he'll say that is because these people, while they called on Jesus, never actually made Jesus their Lord.
Look at what Jesus says in Luke chapter six verses 46 to 48. But why do you call me Lord, Lord, and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to me and hears my sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like.
So notice that Jesus asks people, why do you call me Lord when you don't do the things that I say? And then Jesus goes on to say that those who hear and do God's word is likened to a man who built his house on the rock. So understand that many people may claim to be Christian and will even go on to call Jesus Lord, but as Jesus says here in these passages, not everyone who calls Jesus Lord will be saved.
On top of that, look at Matthew chapter 25 verses 31 to 34 and 41. When the Son of Man comes in his glory and all the holy angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory. All the nations will be gathered before him and he will separate them one from another as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats and he will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Then the King will say to those on his right hand, come you blessed of my father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. Then you will also say to those on the left hand, depart from me you cursed into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. So if you look at this passage, note that there will be a thorough separation of people where God will separate his sheep from everyone else.
So note that when it comes to God's judgment, all will be seen. And while there may be people who say they follow God and go to church and pray prayers, only those who had true faith in Jesus will inherit eternal life. And at the end of time, Jesus will see everyone's hearts, thoughts, and intents and will accurately determine if there was a genuine faith in him.
And this leads us to our final point. Fact number five, Jesus will judge the life of a believer. Second Corinthians chapter 5 verse 10, "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
" In this passage, Paul is telling the Corinthian church that everyone must go before the judgment seat of Christ so each one can receive good or bad things based on what they've done. So there's some believers who think that Judgment Day is only for unbelievers, and that's incorrect. Because Paul here is speaking to the Corinthian church who are Christians, and he tells them that they all, Paul included, must appear before the judgment seat of Christ.
So note that the great white throne judgment mentioned previously is only for unbelievers. But even though that judgment isn't for Christians, it doesn't exclude them from the judgment of God. And this judgment is most commonly known as being a judgment for rewards or loss of rewards.
We see a little bit of this in 1 Corinthians chapter 3 verses 11 to 15, "For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. " Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one's work will become clear, for the day will declare it because it will be revealed by fire. And the fire will test each one's work of what sort it is.
If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. In this passage, Paul speaks of a kind of judgment that will happen on a specific day.
And during this judgment, there will be a fire that will test the work of a believer. And some believers will argue that this will be a judgment where God will give particular rewards to Christians. And the reason why they think this judgment is for Christians is because in this passage, it says that while this person may suffer loss, they will still be saved.
Jesus also spoke of a similar kind of rewarding system in Matthew 25 verses 14 to 30. And it's here where he speaks on the parable of the talents. And in this parable, there was a man who gave five talents to one of his servants, two talents to another servant, and one talent to another servant.
And according to John MacArthur in his New Testament commentary, a talent is about 6,000 denarii. And a denarius is what you'd pay the average person for one full workday. So currently in the US, in California, the minimum wage is $16 an hour.
So if someone worked eight hours for a day, they would make $128. So if for example, your daily wage was $128, that would be about the equivalent for a denarius at the time. And 6,000 denarii makes up one talent.
So if you do the math, according to California's minimum wage, one talent would be about $768,000. So using these numbers, a man gave one servant five talents or $3,840,000. And then he gave another man two talents or $1,536,000.
And then finally, the man who had one talent had $768,000. And in this passage, the person who was given five talents made five more talents, and the person who made two talents made two more. And if you continue to read, these two workers were rewarded for their faithfulness to their master.
And the master said, "Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of the Lord. " And on top of that, Jesus even teaches people in Matthew 6 verses 19 to 20 to lay up and store treasures in heaven.
And Matthew 16, 27 reads, "For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his father with his angels, and then he will reward each according to his works. " So all that to say, upon death, believers will stand in front of Jesus who is the judge of all mankind, and their work for the Lord will be evaluated. And it seems that God will reward people based on the purity of the work.
Because according to 1 Corinthians chapter 3 verses 11 to 15, there will be a fire that will test each one's work. And if that work endures, they will receive a reward. Now what that standard is, I'm not sure, but I'm thinking rewards will probably be given based on faithfulness, as seen in the parable of the talents.
Okay? So regarding Judgment Day, remember these five facts. Jesus will be our judge.
Jesus will judge the world in righteousness. Jesus will judge the life of an unbeliever. Jesus will judge the life of one who poses as a believer.
And Jesus will judge the life of a believer. To close, please take this message seriously. This is probably one of the heavier topics we've covered here on Impact, and it's true.
And Jesus, at the very end of the Bible, tells people that He's coming quickly. And if He's coming quickly, then it means that His judgment on mankind will soon come to all of us. So now's the time to repent and to turn to Him.
And if you watched this video and you want to be saved from the coming great white throne judgment, please remember Romans chapter 10 verse 9, that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. So if you're not a Christian, I pray that you would be. If you're only a Christian by name and not by action, I pray that you repent.
And if you are a Christian, I pray that you continue to faithfully serve our God, regardless of who you are. I hope that you know today that Jesus loves you. I want to say a big thank you to our team members who made this video possible.
