so over the years I've published over 400 books on Amazon KDP and in this video I'm going to tell you the biggest lessons that I've learned how much exactly I made from this and if this was all worth it or if it was a huge waste of time so to give you a quick backstory I started publishing back in 2016 and I publish a mix of low medium and high content books but when it comes to high content books I only do non-fiction books I don't do fiction books now I started this as a side
hustle when I was working a full-time job uh now this has became my main hustle right I quit my full-time job and now I'm doing this full-time So based on that you can kind of assume that my results with this is pretty good you know because of the fact that I was able to quit my full-time job so my personal results is this I was able to hit 10K per month in 10 months of starting and I continued to make multiple six figures a year for multiple years and I ended up selling my first KDP
account for $820,000 and then I went on and built my second KDP account and now that account is also doing six figures a year once again now if you don't believe anything I say here I've documented my entire Journey you know I've been doing monthly income reports for my first account as well as my second account for multiple years now so if you want to see proof then you can check out the KDP income reports playlist on this channel and this is the proof or I guess a screenshot of the bill of sale for my
first KDP account so you can see that right here it lists the total price uh how much I've sold it for this is the listing number uh if you want to kind of look this up I sold it on this website called Empire flippers I also did a podcast with them so you can kind of look that up as well and this is for my second KDP account you can see that this month I've earned uh so far $7,500 we're probably on track to do maybe $133,000 or so for this month let me switch to
the lifetime and you can see that so far I've made $276,000 from this KDP account I have audiobooks and different places that I sell my books outside of this so um if you include those it's well over probably $350,000 uh for this account so the big question is was it all worth it and the answer I think you guys can tell that it's a resounding yes KDP literally changed my life I was able to travel the world thanks to KDP since it's an online business you can work from anywhere as long as there's internet so
I was able to move to Bali Indonesia lived there for a while so this is me traveling in Bali I also went to Thailand Malaysia Vietnam Europe you know so many different places working online traveling the world thanks to this business so with that being said let me tell you the biggest lessons that I've learned and what you must know if you're starting KDP right now because although KDP is still the best business to start right now the way you build this business now compared to the way we built it before is completely different and
as someone who's actively building this business to this day I believe I got some tips for you so the first thing you have to absolutely keep in mind is quality is king So when I first achieved 10K per month with my first KDP account I was literally stuck at 10K per month for a year and a half and a lot of you guys will say that oh that's good you know 10K per month is a good income but I was actively trying to build past 10K per month and I just couldn't I was stuck there
for a year and a half no matter what I did I couldn't break past it within the knowledge that I had I thought I had good books and if you're watching this video you probably think that you have good books as well right but you really have to pause take a step back and really ask yourself is it a really good book you know are your books really as good as your competitors like if you put your book in the best-selling competitor in your Niche side by side do you really think your book is as
good as your competitor because if the answer is no you have to improve your book because the biggest reason why I couldn't break past the 10K per month barrier is because my books didn't have any longevity because it was getting negative reviews because even though I thought it was a good book you know the customers didn't and it doesn't matter what I think the only thing that matters is what customers think right so once those books were getting negative reviews the sales basically dies and my income drops and I would publish new books and my
income will go up a little bit but because my old books die off I was in this rinse and repeat cycle right around 10K per month but the moment I realized this and I focused on creating super high quality books really solving the pain points for the customer and I started investing more into my book quality so hiring a better writer paying a little bit more for the book cover design but now my book covers looked amazing compared to my competitors all of a sudden my books stopped dying because it started getting positive reviews right
and the more positive reviews you get the sales actually increases instead of decreases so the moment I pivoted to focusing on high quality my income literally quadrupled and it went up to $35 to $40,000 per month average so that is lesson number one lesson number two is easy is not always better so most people discover Amazon KDP because they hear that it's one of the easiest business out there and yes that is correct it is one of the easiest business to get started especially if you're a beginner right even if you're not a beginner it
is one of the most amazing business model out there but the problem is just because it is so easy to create these books especially with the help of AI that is what everyone else is doing everyone's literally just spamming lowquality AI content and just flooding the market everyone's playing the volume game instead of the quality game now I created this graph on the right side as you can see it is a pyramid and it basically says low content at the bottom which is what most people are doing low content are books that are very easy
to make you know sometimes you can make these in literally 10 minutes right and because it's so easy everyone's just spamming these and because everyone is doing it most of your competitors are doing the same thing that's why you're going to be competing with most people and because of that there's a lot of competition and typically you make the least amount of money but if you're willing to do something a little bit harder than just publishing low content books right if you're willing to add images to your book if you're willing to rewrite the content
that you generate from AI just do a little more work than just copy pasting or spamming these books you know that's something that not a lot of people are willing to do because everyone's lazy right now you're publishing books that are a little harder to make and now you have a lot less competition and you typically make more money and if you can move even beyond that right publishing high content books or books that are just generally harder to make right most people aren't willing to do that because most people are half ass in this
right most people aren't serious about this business they're scared to invest their time or money in producing high quality books so if you're one of the very few that's willing to do that then you will have the least amount of competition and typically these kind of books makes the most amount of money so in summary when something is hard you should go after it instead of trying to avoid it right so you should create harder books these are medium content high content books right but even though I call it harder if you know what you're
doing it's actually very easy to create now you want to work your way towards high content books because high content books allows you to price your book higher so you have higher profit margin and also you can sell in other formats such as ebooks Audi books there's so many ways to make money with high content books compared to low content books so 99% of people will spam low content journals or AI coloring books because it's easy and if you do the same you'll be competing with the 99% if you want to stand out you have
to be different and better so this is something that you have to keep in mind just as a side note that the only people complaining about saturation are the ones spamming lowquality crap because they're doing the same thing everyone else is doing no wonder they think it's saturated right if you just not do that you wouldn't be complaining about saturation so going back to high content something that you typically cannot do with low content books is that you can sell your books in other formats such as audiobooks and audiobooks can be extremely profitable I've filmed
this video in the past where I talk about how I've made well over $400,000 just from audiobooks right not including paperback ebook nothing just from audiobooks have made multiple six figures from it so it can be very very profitable once again if you guys want to check out this video I'll leave a link in the description below the next lesson is you want to follow the demand so most people are thinking completely backwards when they start this business most people write a book first then they try to find people who want to buy it that
is just the most backward thing you can ever do right so when you're coming into this business thinking oh my God I have this idea of a book that nobody has done it for most of the time nobody did it because it's not profitable okay so instead what you want to do is you want to check if there are people already buying books on that topic are there other books already on that topic and are those books selling once you confirm that right then you make a book on it but you're not going to make
the same book you're going to make something better okay and that is how you beat your competition and also make sure that your books will sell once again going into a topic that nobody body else has done before is a huge gamble you're either going to be the next JK rolling and just be extremely successful or that book is going to flop 99% of the time it's going to flop so this is a concept called right to Market and this is not something that I created right this is a concept taught by other top authors
so you know if they're doing it if they're extremely successful then we should probably do it too so how do you confirm the topic has demand well you simply find other books on the topic that is selling well an easy Benchmark if you're publishing a high content book is if that book is less than 100,000 BSR then that means that book is making around $500 a month and that is a pretty good Benchmark to aim for so let's say as an example I want to publish a book on decluttering all I'm going to do to
check if this topic is profitable before I even start writing it is I'm going to search for the keyword and I'll see if there are other books doing really well so you know you can see the best sellers rank now I have a tool called book beam book beam tells me not only the ESR the best sellers rank of the book but also how much the book is making per day so if this number is below 100,000 or with book beam you know if this number right here how much they're actually making in royalties is
higher than 500 bucks a month then that is a pretty good topic right so this book right here this is a decluttering book way below 100,000 and it's doing $2,400 a day so obviously decluttering is a profitable topic and now that I know that I can go and write a book on this the next lesson is is to avoid the one book mindset so what is a one book mindset well it is a mindset where you're you know coming into this business saying that oh I'm just going to try it out with one book and
if that book fails you just go oh I knew it wasn't going to work or I knew this business was a scam right that is the wrong approach another thing that you have to stop is to try and make 10K per month or however much you want to make with just one book because like I said 500 bucks a month per book is a pretty good place to be at most successful people have m multiple books most of the time you're not going to hit 10K per month with just one book so going to the
slides here your first book is most likely going to be your worst book right so don't just go and see how it goes with your first book because it's most likely going to suck it's most likely going to flop but the point is you learn from it right that book although your first book might flop it's still going to make something you know so it's still going to be proof that you can make money online but if you want to make big money you have to improve your skills and keep publishing right so if if
it makes even one sale you want to take that as a success most 5 six seven figure Publishers has 20 to 100 books so I would say most people making six figures a year so that is a little over $8,000 a month I would say have about 20 to 30 books on average it is very very rare to make 10K per month with just one book so just keep publishing keep improving your skills and keep going all right so the next lesson is know your worth so just because with publishing you can do most things
yourself you can write the Books yourself you can format the book yourself you can create a book cover yourself on canva a lot of people try and do everything themselves so people get stuck in doing all the work themselves because they're afraid of investing money in their business but this is a serious question I want you guys to all you know ask yourself is how much is 1 hour of your time worth so as an example you make 20 bucks an hour from your job but you go and spend 8 hours creating a book cover
on CA that means you're valuing your time as $2.50 an hour and I'm pretty sure if you live in the us or anywhere else you're not worth $2.50 right you're worth a lot more than that so why are you doing things that is valuing you at that price like as an example this is someone that you can pay on a site called Fiverr uh that can create a book cover for you for just $15 right and for $15 they can create these book covers that looks pretty damn good in my opinion right for 15 bucks
this is most likely much better than what you would be creating yourself on camera spending 8 hours 10 hours however long if you don't have design skills and if you're making 20 bucks an hour that means all you have to do is work 45 minutes to make 15 bucks to invest in a book cover rather than spending 8 hours on canva to make something worse than this so you have to stop being so afraid of investing in this business because by trying to save a little bit of money you're wasting so much time and you're
actually wasting so much money as a byproduct of wasting so much time so if you're doing this business as a hobby and you're just doing it for fun then you know no problem right do whatever you want to do but if you're doing this as a business to make money then you have to start valuing your time more so the great part about this business is that you can literally Outsource every single step in the business so if you want to Outsource 100% of the task like me because I literally work on my KDP business
for zero hours now like I don't even do anything because I have a team that's doing everything for me right but for you if you're just getting started you want to do things that you're good at right and you enjoy and start Outsourcing things that you're not good at so you can Outsource book cover design writing editing formatting marketing literally everything okay so you want to act like a CEO in the business not an employee CEO tells people what to do but they don't actually do it themselves so I do have a video on how
I work less than 4 hours a week now it's basically zero but when I filmed this video I was working around 4 hours a week right so I do have a video on how I do that the link is in the description below the next lesson is to embrace AI so AI is here to stay it's not a trend it's not going to go away you know AI is going to be here and it's going to be part of our Lives more and more and more as time goes on so you're not going to be
replaced by AI but you will be replaced by other people who learn AI so you either learn AI or get left behind now it's never been easier and cheaper to produce a book than now thanks to AI because AI is really automating a lot of these publishing processes there are so many new opportunities these so many new books that you can create so many new niches that you can go into that we could not go into before right but AI is making this possible so it is an amazing thing now early on in this video
I did hate on people who spam lowquality AI crap but that is only if you're publishing lowquality spam you can publish high quality books using AI so you just have to learn how to use it properly now this might be the biggest lesson that I've learned and I want you guys to really understand this is you have to find a community so when I started publishing I had a small Mastermind of three other people we basically talked every single day discussing KP strategies so we had our Mastermind on a Facebook group chat and we just
talked every single day sharing what worked what didn't literally everything and this was the single biggest thing that helped me succeed with KDP I don't think I would be here if I didn't have the Mastermind I don't think I would be here in this position if one of the person in The Mastermind reached out back in the day you know saying hey do you want to start a mastermind so it was really the biggest thing that helped me when I first got started and that is exactly why when I started my KP course I wanted
the Mastermind the community to be the main aspect of it and we have a community right now we got over, 1300 people right active Publishers a lot of four five six figure Publishers inside networking you know exchanging ideas every single day and those who are succeeding in my program are always the ones that are most active in the community side as well but anyways so I have the community there if you guys want to join the link is in the description below but the point is whether it's inside my KDP program or outside you really
should be finding someone where you can start a mastermind and start exchanging ideas and talking about KDP every single day because that's definitely going to speed up your process and the final lesson is don't get distracted a lot of people watching this will have shiny object syndrome they're interested in KDP but they're also interested in other businesses you might be watching another YouTube video and you get hit with an ad of another business model or you know in that YouTube video somebody's talking about another business model and you're like maybe I should build that one
right or maybe I should do both KDP and that other business model that is a huge mistake in my opinion Amazon KDP is the best business on the planet and I'm not just saying this because I sell a course on it right you don't even have to join my course you know I still think KDP is the best business out there because I've been in this space for over 8 years right and I've literally seen this so many times where people leave thinking that the grass is greener on the other side they get tired of
KDP or whatever reason right so they leave KDP start another business just to come back to KDP a couple years later because they realized that their books kept paying them every single month passively for years right while they were building another business so no other business is this passive low learning curve stressfree because you got no customer service no manufacturing a lot of things that you normally have to do in other businesses you don't have to do it because Amazon handles it for you right so it is a very very stress-free business it's very low
investment as well compared to other businesses and it's one of the few businesses that can give you true Freedom complete Freedom not just Financial Freedom because a lot of businesses can get you Financial Freedom right that's the easy part but time Freedom you know being able to work whenever you want to that is rare because if you have a service-based business if you do a lot of meetings you don't get to work whenever you want if you got a meeting or if you have to call your clients you have to do that right it's not
like you can take a vacation for 2 weeks whenever you want to right and the third one is location Freedom being able to work wherever you want as long as there's Wii that is also rare too like if you do real estate investing you don't get to travel the world because you often have to go see the property in person right or if you do a physical product based business you often have to ship your product to your house just so that you can hold it and check and make sure that the product is actually
good if you're traveling the world how are you going to ship the product to you it's going to be super hard so that is why a digital product based business like Amazon KDP utilizing the power of Amazon and piggybacking off the fact that they do a lot of things for you like customer service it is a very very rare combination so this is a message that I got from someone I knew for a couple years right this person was also in publishing he did pretty well couple years back uh and you can see that he
is talking about how he sold his business for $175,000 a couple years ago and he sold it and he left KDP right and tried out different business models well he says right right here that after a few years away and experimenting with different business models I've come full circle and just realized how truly incredible KDP self-publishing really is and I've decided to come back and start a brand new business having zero client deliverables and not having to handhold clients or chase Le around is just too good I was an idiot for stopping so this is
just one message that I got but you're not going to believe how often I get something like this right like literally every two weeks people reaching out saying oh I wish I stayed with KDP oh I wish I didn't leave you know for the past multiple years so this is a post that one of our students Toby did in our Mastermind but he says that a good boss will give you a mental health day once in a while and send you home early with KDP it's different I just took a mental health week and came
back to a fatter bank account reminder that KDP is kind of a cheat code if you keep going with it build slowly if you must like me but build for the long term I plan for each book I publish to sell in 10 years from now why so when I'm 34 I can take time off for me or my family or if there's a typhoon in Thailand and I want to go help my roommates are all single dues working corporate or food service jobs they're awesome people but there is sadly little freedom to travel or
rest keep it up guys and use your freedom to bless others so I truly mean it when I say that Amazon KDP is still the best business to start right now the question is are you going to go all in and take this seriously or not do that and you know miss out on this opportunity so that is completely up to you but if you're ready to take your Amazon KDP business to the next level if you're ready to dive in and take this seriously and if you want a step-by-step guidance on doing that then
you can check out the first link in the description which is my complete publishing program so yes obviously I make these videos so hopefully you guys join my course but honestly even if you don't join at least I want you to understand that KDP really is a pretty sick business model and I hope you take this seriously and do something with it so if you made it to the end and you're fired up and you're going Allin with KDP then let me know in the comments comment Allin so if you enjoyed the video leave a
like subscribe if you haven't yet thanks for watching and I'll see you guys in the next one
