there are plenty of ways to get a second passport fast including one of the most common ways which is making a donation to a country like those that you see in the Caribbean but today I'm going to share with you a number of ways you can actually get a free in air quotes second passport by making Investments that will actually pay you back in the future and in a moment I'm going to share with you four countries where you can make investments and in my opinion if you invest properly you can get your Capital returned and potentially even make a profit but first let's talk about two ways to get second citizenship without paying much of anything citizenship by descent is something that Nomad capitalist helps people with it's our only Olive cart service besides creating holistic plans and this is where you have someone in your family tree where you have uh a parent a grandparent in many cases even a great or great great grandparent who came from another country often from Europe those are the countries most talked about uh We've looked at cases from Latin America and the Caribbean as well uh so if you have ancestors there is going to be some cost to collecting documents there's always a cost to getting a citizenship whether you're Gathering due diligence paperwork for a citizenship by investment in the Caribbean where you are going to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for that passport or citizenship by descent where there's really no cost for it other than the printing of the passport itself you still need to gather family records birth certificates get things apposed do some running around we help people eliminate a lot of that hassle for a fee uh but the actual citizenship itself if you have ancestry is free the other thing you can do get citizenship by naturalization that's where you move to another country you spend anywhere generally between 6 to 9 months per year there sometimes more sometimes you could even go a little bit less what you want to consider in these cases what could make it certainly less than free is the actual tax cost of moving there so if you move to France hey they'll give you a citizen ship as long as you speak their language by the time you go and apply but you're going to pay very high taxes to live there and so if you're going to move you might as well move you might as well find a more tax friendly place to live there aren't many places with higher taxes than France for example uh but why would you move to a place to pay the same taxes if you're a successful person uh so naturalization is an opportunity where uh there are tax friendly countries including some in Europe you did nowh tax friendly Ireland is one example for example uh you already speak English if you're watching this it's 5 years to citizenship that's an opportunity where hey maybe you move to a country like Ireland or there's countries in Central America and South America if you're willing to Lear Spanish 3 to five years you could be given citizenship you have to learn the language but they might have tax exemptions as in the case of Chile or Uruguay they might not have taxes on foreign income as is the case in places like Panama or Costa Rica they may be more flexible on taxation for certain foreigners like Mexico that's a kind of confusing tax system but if you're will to move somewhere you could get a second passport basically for free There's an opportunity cost of whatever your cost of moving is I. E hey my kids didn't want to move but I wanted the second passport for free but if you could lower your taxes you're actually getting paid to get that passport by moving so citizenship by descent you don't move naturalization you do move uh both could take uh you know anywhere from one to five years to get because some citizenship by descent cases do take years to go to work their way through the system but if you are able to to qualify or to do one of those things that's a way to get a second passport uh there's going to be some processing cost of getting the resident permit or collecting the documents but the time it's said and done the passport itself is free if you don't have ancestors or if you don't want to move here are four passports you can get without moving without having to have any special connections and if you make the investment properly I believe that the passport basically will return your money let's start with turkey's citizenship by investment program and we're going to get even more exotic from here don't worry uh turkey is a program where you buy real estate and you get citizenship in a matter of months it's a pretty good passport outside of the western world so that makes a good compliment to a passport that might be more Western friendly and so you have to buy the real estate in turkey and then you sell it uh three years you cannot sell it to someone else who's doing citizenship by investment you have to sell it to a local Turk you have to sell it to one of the foreigners you know someone coming from Saudi Arabia or any number of other places where there's just inward investment into uh to Turkey and so a lot of people do and you'll see this at the airport and you'll see all kinds of websites if you Google Turkish citizenship trying to sell you property from developers in far-flung neighborhoods in Istanbul I've gone on those tours many many years ago where they take you out to essener or something and tell you how they're building a 50 story building amongst a bunch of illegal housing and migrant housing and they tell you how it's going to be a great deal and people have lost as much as 70% of their money on some of those expensive overpriced developer deals now I'm not an investment adviser and I'm not making Promises of returns please be very you know sure of that but I believe if you buy good secondhand property in Turkey you can actually make a profit uh in dollar terms you know when I bought my uh home in Istanbul uh the L was eight to the dollar it's now quadruple that and yet whatever we've done at appraisal the property goes up and value in dollar terms because the L price just keeps going crazy I think I paid 2. 2 million L and now it's worth you know into the eight figures in L and so if you're buying in good neighborhoods that aren't in out in God knows where in sustainable districts you may not get as high of a yield as you might get in a city like an ismir for example and you might not as get you know get this the the fun of the sun Vibes that you get if you went down to Bodrum but you know I think that if you buy in either the capital Istanbul is not the capital of of course but the the main you know economic Hub those properties can retain their value and if you buy in a neighborhood that's very International minded they're going to be thinking in dollars or in euros and they're not going to sell their property for less just because the L is down uh and so a lot of people have been investing in Turkey you probably wouldn't you know if you're living in the US think who's investing there people from all over that region are investing there uh so that's one area where you get a passport and the passport is basically free if 3 years later you sell your investment for what you paid for it I think you could sell it and pay for the costs right we have helped people find secondhand properties that are in pretty short supply these days in the good neighborhoods uh like where I'm at uh we help people find those deals we do not send people generally speaking uh to developers unless they just want a new TurnKey property Egypt also has a new citizenship program it's $300,000 in a real estate uh there are a few caveats on what kind of property you can buy and what I found from going to Egypt is a lot of the folks there don't actually know the real law of what you can buy you can buy property that is registered entitled in Egypt and get citizenship and again you can sell that uh five years down the line same situation if you're buying uh in zalik if you're buying in Garden City if you're buying in MTI maybe in some of the nice new areas of New Cairo um although personally I kind of think you can create as much Supply as you want in the desert uh but if you're buying the right areas uh you know I think there's a there's a chance and we haven't studied Egypt as long as we've studied turkey I think there's a chance you know you can retain your dollar value and properties in Egypt uh are some of the cheapest in the world you can find properties nice properties in great neighborhoods with views of the Nile $1,300 a meter um where they're actually liveable people are living there and and you know successful people are living there you might want to improve it to your tastes and and level it up the next level but that is extremely cheap property uh and there's always going to be wealthy people in the country there's always going to be someone who wants to buy those properties and I think that if you look at as we have for years property in very emerging and Frontier countries sometimes those properties at the top end do go up in value because you have more people who become wealthy I we had a client who grew up in a village in Egypt and now he's making millions of dollars a year if I recall correctly I mean he really became a success that's what you don't see in the west that there are people making money everywhere and that guy's going to want to have a home in Egypt and he's going to want to buy in the best neighborhood in the best city there's always going to be a demand is my opinion so if you can buy real estate and sell it later you get to keep the passport in both of those countries that's worth something now those are exotic citizenships Egypt's not a great passport for traveling that's kind of as I've called it a plan d e or F but hey if you're getting a passport for free if all the other factors of you know becoming Egyptian work for you and there are some things we would talk to our clients you know does your Swiss bank are they going to accept that for example you know uh but if you get all those things to work out if you can buy property Park your money have some asset diversification have some asset protection you're getting a free passport in both of those countries if you do it right Jordan I told you we were to get more exotic they have a citizenship by investment program I talked about it probably six years ago said I'm not sure how many westerners want this and that's still probably true but Jordan is one of the more stable countries in the region and by the way most people getting citizen Ship by investment are not westerners we've I think you know got a lot more westerners to think that they need a second citizenship uh but Jordan is a stable country in that part of the world they will sell you bonds uh it's going to cost you about a million dollars in bonds you hold under those for several years you can then sell the bonds the bonds may be in USD um but even if they weren't the Jordanian dinar is actually one of the strongest currencies in the world and it is essentially pegged to uh to the US dollar and so uh you know there's really not currency risk there even if the bonds were uh inrs and so if you buy those bonds and you hold out to them uh the risk obviously on property is the property Market goes down because something happens in the country in Turkey we've seen people you know a lot of people coming particularly uh unfortunately with the War uh people coming to Turkey buying more property turkey has always been kind of this more secular country in a region that is less secular people who want a secular second home from the uh the Arab world for example have long gone to Istanbul to get that second home and so that's driving prices up uh Jordan the risk is different is the government going to pay you the bonds back there are other ways to get citizenship in Jordan I think the Bond one is probably the most hands off and the one that ensures that you you know you're the most likely to get that free passport but those are three countries right there you might think that they're a little bit exotic uh and again Egypt and Jordan don't have great travel documents Jordan again one of the more stable countries in that region is not an oil rich country unlike some of its neighbors so it doesn't have some of that oil wealth um but that could be a plan DF and by the way if these countries are too exotic for you well that's making the case for hey I'll just pay the $200,000 and I'll get the Caribbean citizenship and that sounds more pal to me this is what you get for free there is one country in the Caribbean that I feel you could get the passport for free it's a bit more of a wobbler in the sense of St Lucia they have a citizenship buy investment program I've been through it uh you can buy bonds there if you choose not to make the donation you can buy bonds same deal you get 0% interest uh but you can then sell those bonds later the Eastern Caribbean dollar is pegged to the US dollar again so even if you're you're not in US Dollars it's not an issue uh as long as that Peg holds uh St Lucia is the last country to sign on to the price increase that's going on to satisfy uh the European Union among all the Caribbean countries that have citizenship by investment program so you're going to see that minimum donation good to $200,000 I've been telling you for years prices are going to go up you had the hurricane Wars you had a couple discounts over the last couple years but generally speaking prices of citizenships and prices of residents have gone nowhere but up and um if you're just looking at second citizenship now uh you're going to pay double what you would have paid if you would have called us uh not very long ago so all that to say St Lucia had a $300,000 Bond investment where you're just basically giving them money to hold on to for uh I believe it was 5 years so you could buy the bonds you could sell the bonds shouldn't have any currency risk and then you get to keep the citizenship now with the Caribbean countries generally they're going to charge you a processing fee if you buy real estate which I've generally advised people against there's been a lot of shady programs there's been Shady dealings with what they call like illegal discounting involving some of the real estate projects and just the idea of how are you going to liquidate a real estate project and the government can change the numbers at any time um I haven't been a big fan of real estate project I know that angers a lot of people in the citizenship by investment industry because their their fat commissions uh get eaten into when I tell people not to buy real estate I've generally advised people to make the donation for Caribbean citizenship however if you're willing to hold bonds St Lua offered an option there is a processing fee and the point of the price increase is uh that we'll see in the next uh potentially couple weeks what St L is going to do to all of its other programs now that they're joining the price increase from 100 to 200 ,000 on the donation side yeah I mean you would think that if the donation $200,000 more people would go to the bond option hence meaning that they could raise the price of of the bond option so turkey Egypt Jordan St Lucia uh have options where you know some fees aside uh you can get citizenship by making an investment that you could be expected to recover if you do it properly again you can also move to another country if you move while lowering your taxes you know European countries I think Ireland being the most you know flexible because you already speak the language um they're actually they do actually naturalize people unlike a Greece or a Cypress which have tax deals now where they're less likely to naturalize people you know Italy could be a good one if you want to move as well that's going to be a longer passport path Central and South American countries could be good for giving citizenship with tax benefits so you can move you can check your family tree if you don't have those two things to do uh then those are the kind of places where you can get free second passports and again if you don't like those options and I'm not sitting there for everyone by any stretch of the imagination do not take this as me saying you should go and get Egyptian citizenship but those are where you can get passports for free we have clients increasingly coming and saying I want to get six passports now sometimes they see the price of that they kind of pull it back okay three or two is enough but more people than ever are saying I want so many options because I just don't know which way the world's going to go and so that could be the category that these free options come into where you start by saying say I'm going to go to Malta and get the million doll option uh I'm going to go to the Caribbean and get the $200,000 option one or both of those and hey let's throw in you know after that let's just throw in Turkey I'll have a house maybe it comes in handy I like to fly Turkish Airlines whatever um those were places where you can get free passports those are ways you can get free passports I quite frankly think it's worth paying for citizenship through a donation uh to get a great quality passport uh I've done that uh but this is what we help people do is evaluate all your options uh we're not a company that just says hey we sell turkey how do we Jam you into turkey if you don't want to get a turkey you don't get a turkey if the Caribbean or Malta or moving to Ireland is better for you uh than you know getting turkey or stt Lucia or Jordan then that's what we're going to advise you you can go to nomad.
