the best in you Napoleon Hill said persistence is to the character of man what carbon is to steal the more persistent you are the stronger you will become and the stronger you become the more you will be able to persist there seems to be a relationship between persistence and self-discipline the rule is that persistence is self-discipline in action it's about having the strength to continue when you discipline yourself to persist even when everything in you wants to give up developing the kind of character that will lead you to overcome any obstacle Miss Lombardi said winners
never quit and quitters never win there is also a direct relationship between persistence and qualities like self-esteem self-respect and personal Pride the more you discipline yourself to persist in adversity the more you will love yourself respect yourself and feel empowered making more ideas is available to your mental reach and accessible for improving your life and work develop persistence persistence is a habit and like any habit you can develop it within yourself through practice and repetition Every Act of persistence and self-discipline strengthens every other Act of persistence and self-discipline every failure of persistence and self-discipline weakens
you in all other areas they are all connected your subconscious mind is very powerful you can actually pre-program it much like programming an alarm to sound the way you want it to if you want to be a persistent person you can pre-program your mind to never give up the way to do this is simple you simply tell yourself no matter what happens I will never give up surprisingly your subconscious mind accepts it as an order as if you've programmed a timer on your phone the next time you face a setback or disappointment that would make
an ordinary person give up your subconscious mind will ring and remind you you never give up then you'll say wait a minute I will never give up Nelson Mandela said do not judge me by my successes Judge Me by how many times I fell down and got back up there is only one person in the world who can prevent you from succeeding and that's you if you decide that you will never give up persistence soon becomes an automatic response to any problem or adversity without even thinking about it you get up stand strong as they
say and keep moving forward knowing the importance of persistence for lasting success I practiced this pre-programming on my children as they grew up throughout their young lives I told them the same thing to each of them over and over I know one thing about you you never give up and it worked my children are happy healthy adults with good self-esteem busy and engaged with their families and jobs and they never give up it's not part of their world view they never quit at a certain age they took control of their programming instead of having to
say you never give up regularly they simply told themselves no matter what happens I never give up be unstoppable one of the attendees at my seminars once asked me what I believed to be the most important quality for success in life I thought about it for a moment and replied the quality of being Unstoppable how do you become Unstoppable you simply repeat to yourself I am Unstoppable over and over again then no matter what happens you won't stop until you've reached your goals previously I mentioned that a major turning point in my life was when
I learned about goals shortly after that I had a second turning point it was when I discovered that it's possible to learn any skill quality or habit you want to achieve any goal you set for yourself you can learn to be persistent just as you can learn any subject wow there are no limits you are not a static human being you are a human being in process constantly evolving and developing in the direction of your dominant thoughts you can become anyone you want to be with any skill or habit you wish to develop there are
no limits except those you impose on yourself when you decide to be a confident competent self-disciplined and persistent person and you practice and develop yourself every day there are no limits to what you can be do or have in the exciting months and years ahead you will start working with confidence and continue until you reach the greatness for which you were born it's a great time to be alive there has never been more opportunities for for more people to create new businesses careers and be successful as there are today the number of millionaires and billionaires
is growing faster than at any other time in human history you have more natural talent and abilities than you could use in 100 lifetimes there is very little you cannot achieve if you are clear about your goals develop written plans and work on them until you achieve them you are in charge of your life you are responsible as a wise man once said don't go out and have a good day instead go out and make a good day the secret to success has always been the same start and continue if you can do these two
things every day there are no limits to what you can achieve just do it all success comes from the completion of tasks from starting a job and completing it as soon as possible like other habits procrastination is a learned behavior it starts in early childhood and increases with age the habit of procrastination in adults is perhaps the main reason for low performance and failure in all areas abraam Lincoln said things may come to those who wait but only things left by those who hustle to overcome procrastination you must go to the extreme with immediate action
again and again almost as a lifestyle until procrastination is replaced with the quick completion of tasks everyone procrastinates only in different things the best time managers procrastinate as much as the worst however the most productive people procrastinate on the least valuable things in 80% of tasks representing only 20 20% or less of results average people on the other hand procrastinate on 20% of activities that represent 80% of the value of everything they do from now on practice creative procrastination consciously decide not to do low Val activities until you complete high value activities what's stopping you
from overcoming procrastination identify the factors that make you procrastinate today and think about how many of them apply to you number one lack of clarity if you don't have Clarity or aren't sure about the most important things to do you'll end up doing low value or worthless things 95% of success in life comes from having total Clarity of your most important goals and the most important things you can do every minute to achieve them two lack of ambition how much do you want it if you don't have an intense desire or a big enough reason
to start and finish a task you'll never do it you'll fill yourself with excusitis and keep telling everyone and yourself that you'll soon start working on that Big Goal three lack of priorities because you haven't planned or organized your task by sequence and priority you often feel unsure about what to do first as a result you end up doing nothing four overload you often have too many activities or tasks to accomplish for The Limited available time consequently you eventually throw in the towel and tell yourself you'll do it tomorrow five lack of preparedness you don't
have everything you need need at your disposal to start and complete the task often the act of gathering all the required materials actually helps to Kickstart the task six lack of energy you need 8 to n hours of sleep each night combined with healthy and nutritious food to be fully energetic and perform your best work as Vince Lombardi said fatigue makes cowards of us all when you're physically tired or mentally exhausted you lack the necessary energy to initiate and complete an activity seven lack of knowledge if you haven't learned everything you need to know about
your work and don't know what to do or how to do it it's common to procrastinate awaiting all the information eight lack of self-discipline this is likely the worst weakness of all you lack the willpower to get started and keep moving be an action-oriented person employ various tricks you can apply to overcome procrastination and Tackle your most important tasks number one make a to-do list you've heard that failing to plan is planning to fail make an orderly list of each task in a large job with a sequence from the first to the last task the
mere fact of having a road map to follow dramatically reduces procrastination number two slice tasks like salami you'd never think of eating a whole piece of salami at once instead you eat it one slice at a time do the same with big tasks slice off a small piece of the task and complete that activity you don't have to do everything just do one small thing that will be enough to Kickstart the task number three use the Swiss cheese technique poke a hole like the holes in Swiss cheese in your task and decide to work for
100 or 10 minutes straight when you look at your task pick a small part and say emphatically I will do this now number four employ the 80 20th rule 20% of the things you do equal 80% of the results identify the 20% of activities that would yield 80% of your success in this project sometimes the first 20% of activities you do such as planning and organizing equate to 80% of the entire task number five reward yourself set up a reward schedule for initiating working on and completing a specific task reward yourself with a cup of
coffee for completing one thing on your list reward yourself with a stretching break for making 10 client calls reward yourself with a dinner for reaching a financial or numerical goal number six promise others tell others that you are going to perform a particular activity within a specif ified time frame when you know that others are watching you and you have committed to completing a task within a specific time you will be more motivated to start continue and finish the work number seven start immediately work on an important task first thing every morning before checking your
email phone or messages number eight focus on each task choose your most important task and start at first thing in the morning then work until the task is 100% completed this is this is called single handling simple management one of the most powerful management techniques ever developed feel like a winner when you complete a task even if it's small you feel a rush of endorphins you feel happy and motivated you feel stimulated to start your next project and experience that happy feeling of accomplishment again in hindsight the best reputation you can create is one of
speed and reliability when people have full confidence that they can assign you a task and forget about it entirely due to your rep reputation for completing tasks you become a magnet for bigger more important and better tasks when people know that regardless of the goal you will initiate it and continue until it is completed your future is guaranteed how to find an opportunity in a crisis Brian Tracy said it's not what happens to you in life that determines how you feel it's how you respond to what happens two people can have the same experience but
one will overcome it Let It Go they'll forget about it and move on with their day or their life the other person will be devastated angry resentful and often unhappy for an extended period of time the same event two different reactions your natural state is to be happy healthy joyful and full of emotions for being alive you should wake up every morning eager to start the day you should feel wonderful about yourself and your relationships in life as a mature functioning adult you should do things every day that allow you to move forward towards realizing

are you glad to be alive I said of course I really enjoy my life she then said well your father brought you here so stop complaining I remember being momentarily stunned and then realizing she was right from that day on I never complained again no matter what your parents did they brought you here they gave you the greatest gift of all your life you can always be grateful to them for that here's an exercise for you imagine that somewhere in the universe there is a great power that loves you and wants the best for you
this great power wants you to be happy healthy and ful fulfilled it wants you to be successful and prosperous this great power also knows that you can reach higher levels of happiness joy and pleasure only by learning certain essential lessons along the way and it knows that you have a stubborn nature you won't learn unless it hurts you can't learn to read or observe others experiences you can learn only when you feel physical emotional or financial pain it takes pain to get your attention so that you can learn the lessons you need to learn therefore
in order to teach you to train you and to guide you toward your higher good this great power sends you lessons each accompanied by pain so that you listen and pay attention Norman Vincent Peele once said when God wants to send you a gift he wraps it up in a problem the bigger the gift God wants to send you the bigger the problem he wraps it in when you view every problem or difficulty you have in your life as containing some kind of gift you start to see things differently the challenge for most people is
that they experience the pain but they are so busy complaining and blaming others that they never see the gift now let's delve into a powerful exercise that can transform how you perceive setbacks and difficulties in your life think about all the problems you have in your life right now now imagine that this great problem has been sent to you containing a gift in the form of a lesson you need to learn so that you can be happier and more successful in the future what is that lesson one of the most powerful ways to change your
thinking and your life is to look for the valuable lesson in every problem or difficulty you encounter the most amazing thing is that if you look for a lesson in a setback or difficulty you will always find at least one lesson and sometimes many more exercise list three setbacks or temporary failures you have experienced in your life now you can interpret them and see them as learning experiences what are the valuable lessons that the great power was trying to send you when you think about your biggest problem today which usually involves another person ask yourself
what is the lesson I need to learn from this problem or difficulty your first response will generally be simple and superficial maybe it should be more of this or less of that but now comes the most important part ask yourself what else is the lesson I need to learn in this situation go deeper this time the lesson will be more important and meaningful if not painful perhaps you need to start doing something different or stop something altogether then ask again what else is the lesson I need to learn you go even deeper as you continue
to ask this question the lessons will become increasingly relevant and useful and often also more painful finally if it's a significant problem in your life that you've been struggling with for a long time you will reach the true lesson you need to learn usually you need to change get out of something or remove it from your current life language is very important in this area the words you choose to interpret an event can trigger positive or negative thoughts feelings emotions and reactions words can make you happy or sad encourage you or discourage you excite you
or depress you press one of the fastest ways to change your mind from negative to positive when something goes wrong is to change your vocabulary for example instead of the word problem use the word situation a problem is negative it immediately evokes images of loss delay and inconvenience but the word situation is neutral when you say here we have an interesting situation there is no negative emotional charge associated with the word as a result you remain calm clear-headed and more capable of facing any situation an even better word is challenge instead of reacting to a
difficulty as if it were a problem or a personal attack against you or your company say we have an interesting challenge to face a challenge is something you face it brings out the best in you it is positive and uplifting we eagerly await challenges that make us expand and become better by overcoming them the best word to describe a problem is opportunity instead of thinking of problems or difficulties from now on talk about the unexpected setbacks in your life as challenges or opportunities an opportunity is something we all want and eagerly anticipate it's amazing how
many of your best opportunities first appear as problems and difficulties many people have experienced what is called a near-death experience usually in the midst of surgery they die their heart stops and their brain wave activity ceases fortunately the Miracles of modern medicine revive them and bring them back to life on the operating table many of these people have reported a similar experience after they have died first they saw themselves dead on the operating table with doctors and nurses struggling to revive their body the second thing these people report is a tremendous sense of peace and
relief nothing in their previous life seems important they are never again completely relaxed and experience a sense of bliss thirdly they report seeing a distant bright light that begins to move faster and faster as they move toward this light the feeling of peace happiness and Euphoria increases they feel completely relaxed and in harmony with the universe as the light becomes brighter and brighter the fourth common occurrence reported by people who have undergone a near-death experience is that on the other side they are asked two questions what have you learned in this life and how have
you increased your capacity to love in this life then back on the operating table the surgical staff revives the body and brings it back to life suddenly the person feels as if they are being sucked back away from the light at an increasing speed in a way everything turns black the next thing people remember is waking up in a hospital room with family members and medical staff surrounding them so now we know at the end of your life there is a final exam we even know the questions on that exam throughout our lives one of
the main goals is to Dev develop excellent answers to those questions this is the big business of Life having these good answers what have you learned and how have you increased your capacity to love and on the other hand I want to talk to you about how important the power of positive thinking is in fact the idea that your mind can change your world seems too good to be true I can assure you however that I have experienced and witnessed the good that can come from having a positive mindset both positive and negative thoughts are
powerful but they have opposite results today I want to talk to you about how both can impact you and how the power of positive thinking can truly transform every aspect of your life positive thinking means seeking Solutions and expecting to find them you don't ignore problems but instead of complaining about them or letting them dominate you you actively seek ways to overcome them you take responsibility for your life consistently because you understand that you control how your life progresses a positive thinker finds benefits or the Silver Lining and challenges and expects things to turn out
well having a positive attitude means you have an optimistic Outlook an optimistic attitude means you have hope believe things will turn out well and ultimately you will succeed scientists have been studying the health benefits of positive thinking for a long time research suggests that positive people have better mental and physical health and even live longer having a positive outlook can reduce reduce the risk of having a heart attack catching a cold and being depressed positive thinking can reduce a person's risk of death from serious illnesses such as cancer infections heart disease strokes and lung conditions
it improves the outcomes for patients with brain tumors and traumatic brain injuries and boost their immune system a positive mental state even gives you a higher pain tolerance when you have a positive outlook you are better equipped to face stress and difficulties you think more cre creatively and are better at problem solving thinking positively puts you in a better mood so you can engage in positive relationships with co-workers family friends and new acquaintances how is a positive mindset recognized people with positive attitudes tend to lead a healthy lifestyle they smile more are more pleasant to
be around and are calmer Under Pressure someone with a more positive outlook is often willing to try new things they have higher self-esteem love to laugh and point out the positive side of every dark cloud a positive outlook is contagious and people with a positive outlook can't help but share it with those around them positive thoughts are always kind to people and do not speak negatively about themselves or others people with more positive thoughts have better coping skills and they know how to handle stress better by doing things like exercising more frequently and having a
healthier diet stop negative selft talk with positive things you tell yourself words of encouragement acknowledging your successes and sincere compliments that build your self-esteem selft talk is the thoughts that go through your head sometimes we are not even aware of the stream of thoughts playing in our subconscious mind but if we harness our thinking processes we can have more control over whether we are practicing positive selft talk or the opposite if your selft talk is mostly positive you are a positive thinker if it is often negative it is reflected in a poor attitude and a
pessimistic Outlook positive thinking creates positive emotions attitudes and outcomes whereas negative thinking will keep you stuck let me show you some ways you can replace pessimistic Thoughts with positive ones instead of saying I don't want to do that I've never done it before say I will try because I can learn something new instead of thinking I'll never get better at this say I'll try again until I figure it out we tend to be hard on ourselves but we should be our biggest cheerleaders so when you feel like you've made a mistake or even failed something
think instead about what you can learn from it to be more successful don't think about what if I fail think about what if I succeed developing a positive attitude can help you in more ways than you think when you have positive thoughts you don't allow your conscious or subconscious mind to have negative thoughts or doubts positive thoughts can literally be the key to success after you learn to think positively you will notice amazing changes around you your brain will actually start operating in a state of feel-good hormones flowing free really called endorphins which will make
you feel lighter and happier you will also notice a significant boost in confidence and feel more capable of taking on new tasks and challenges that may have previously been outside your comfort zone by reducing your self-limiting beliefs you will effectively release your breakes and experience growth like never imagined essentially you can change your entire life simply by harnessing the power of positive thinking as we've discussed habits can create an unimaginable power in our lives the key is not just to know about them but to practice and cultivate them every day remember strength doesn't always come
