It Is Well | Be Still and Trust In God | A Blessed Morning Prayer To Start Your Day

[Music] many of us are familiar with the hymn It Is Well with My Soul here are some of the words to this hymn when peace like a river attendeth my way when Sorrows like sea Billows roll whatever my lot thou Hast taught me to say it is well it Is Well with My Soul now what really touched my heart is the story behind this hymn this hymn was written by a man named Horatio spafford in the 1800s Horatio was a wealthy businessman a family man and a believer in Christ who lived in Chicago now disaster

first struck when he lost his first son who died suddenly of scarlet fever he was only 4 years old not long after that disaster struck again when a great fire swept through Chicago in October 1871 and some of Horatio's properties were destroyed causing him a great financial loss however despite this huge loss financially Horatio and his family still chose to demonstrate the love of Christ by ministering and assisting others who had also been affected by the fire years later Horatio sent his family ahead for a vacation they had planned he was to join them not

long after his wife and four children went ahead however tragedy struck when the ship that Horatio's family was on collided with an iron sailing ship the vessel that his family was on sank in just over 10 minutes and all four of his children did not survive along with over 200 22 other passengers his wife however was found unconscious floating on a plank of wood but she survived once Horatio received the terrible news he set off to his wife and during the voyage the captain of his ship mapped out exactly where Horatio's children had perished and

remarkably it said that it's at this moment that Horatio returned to his cabin and wrote it Is Well with My Soul despite this story being filled with so many tragic incidents I want to encourage you to see God's goodness and to see his hand on this man's life in the middle of painful circumstances this man and his wife had an unnatural strength to keep going to keep believing in the middle of painful circumstances this man had peace Beyond understanding such peace that he could declare It Is Well with My Soul after everything he had endured

the heartache the loss but what a great measure of Grace and peace he was given to be able to still praise the Lord and say it is well now in the grand scheme of things this is my perspective on the matter with all that this man had gone through God flooded his heart with such peace that he wrote A Hymn which has touched many many people over the years and I personally believe that God will never give you more than you can bear and even then when the load becomes too much to carry his word

says my grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect in weakness now let us pray Lord Jesus we praise you because your grace is sufficient for us and your power is made perfect in our weakness it's because of you King Jesus that we can declare It Is Well with My Soul Because of You Lord Jesus we can declare that it is well in our homes it is well in our hearts father I pray that you would have mercy on us I pray for each and every soul that's listening right now whatever their

battle is however bad the situation that they may find themselves in give us Supernatural strength give us peace the type of peace that doesn't come naturally to a person I'm talking about the Divine peace a Heavenly peace your word says in 2 Corinthians 4: 7-10 but we have this treasure an earth and vessels that the Excellence of the power may be of God and not of us we are hard pressed on every side yet not crushed we are perplexed but not in dis spare persecuted but not forsaken struck down but not destroyed always carrying about

in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus that the life of Jesus Also may be manifested in our body where we are unsure you Lord Jesus have cleared a path where we do not see Lord You Are are all knowing allseeing where we are in distress we look to you for help when we are in danger we look to you for shelter in all things in all situations we look to you and you alone Psalm 68: 19 and 20 says praise be to the Lord to God our savior who daily Bears our burdens our

God is a God who saves from The Sovereign Lord comes escape from Death thank you Lord and all praise be unto you because you are a God who sets the captives free a God who defends the helpless and strengthens the weak have mercy on us have mercy on our families and on our homes save us Lord from the clutches of the enemy do not let us or our children and loved ones be destroyed by the devil God don't let us be overwhelmed by the afflictions of Life as we wait on you Lord Jesus we will

be still and we will know and acknowledge that you are God you're the one who deserves to be praised we trust you father to handle our cares we trust you to take care of our tomorrow you're in control Lord May the Holy Spirit help us to realize this that you are truly in control in this life Lord as we pass through deep Waters be with us as we pass through the fire lord be with us Victory belongs to you Lord Jesus enable us to live lives that are filled with gratitude and praise despite whatever it

is that we go through in this world we hold on to 2 Corinthians 4 17-18 for our light Affliction which is but for a moment is working for us a more exceeding and eternal weight of Glory while we do not look at the things which are seen But at the things which are not seen for the things which are seen are temporary but the things which are not seen are Eternal Father I bless your name for listening to this prayer it's in the mighty and precious name of King Jesus Christ that we pray and give
