I really want to speak to the fact that I've had some challenges in the last couple of years myself uh and uh ultimately I believe that suffering leads to Salvation that we have to somehow accept not deny but feel our suffering and feel our losses and uh and then we make one of two decisions we either decide to go through the gate of resentment which leads to Vengeance which leads to self harm which leads to harm to others or we go through the gate of forgiveness which leads to Grace I know it hurt I know
the pain was real but you have a choice will you be bitter and vengeful will you hang on grudges or will you release them will you n nurse the offense and feed the pain or will you starve your pain it's up to you you have a choice choose to release the bitterness and uh your being here is an indication that you've made that decision already you've made the decision to walk through gate of forgiveness to Grace just as Christ did on the cross he suffered terribly and he was broken by it and a feeling of
absolute abandonment which all of you felt whatever you're going through even if Jesus didn't experience it exactly he has a pretty good idea of what it's like he knows what it's like to hurt he knows what it's like to feel pain he knows what it's like to to be alone to be betrayed and to suffer don't run from suffering don't run from it run to God run to God and uh then there was a decision to be made and the decision was to look upon the people who were causing that suffering or the situation that
was causing that suffering with compassion and with forgiveness and that's what opens the Gates of Heaven for all of us so I wish that for all of you I wish that for myself I know that you know no matter what I've suffered most of you have suffered worse than that but that's why I admire you because you're here you know and you will have Grace when you look through the eyes of Jesus you can see the real needs and you can actually feel compassion towards the person who hurts you you say well that's impossible no
remember Jesus on the cross after having his hands and feet nailed the cross Jesus looked down at the people who were inflicting that pain and he prayed father forgive them for they don't know what they should do even in intense pain and Agony Jesus looked on his persecutors with compassion and Paul told us your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus forgiveness starts with this decision base your forgiveness on what God God has done for you rather than on what the person has done to you see remembering God's forgiveness towards me helps
me extend forgiveness to you I forgive you because God forgives me when I realize how much I've been forgiven how can I not forgive you Jesus continued his teaching on this look at what he says next in Matthew 18 He says therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants and as he began the settlement a man who owed him 10,000 talents by the way 10,000 talents is millions and millions of dollars it's an enormous debt says a man who owed him $10,000 talents was brought to him
and since he was not able to pay the master ordered that he and his wife and his children and all that he had be sold to repay the debt the servant fell on his knees before him be patient with me he begged and I will pay back everything now we know that's impossible the debts too big he says be patient and I'll I'll pay back everything the servant's master took pity on him canceled the debt and let him go but when that servant went out he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a
100 dener 100 dener was one day's wage a day's wages he owed him a 100 dener he grabbed him grabbed him by the throat because it says he began to choke him pay back what you owe me he demanded and his fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him be patient with me and I will pay you back said the same thing that the servant said but he refused instead he went off and had the man thrown into prison until he could pay the debt when when the other servants saw what had happened they
were greatly distressed and went and told their Master everything that had happened then the master called the servant in you Wicked servant he said I canel all that debt of yours because you begged me to shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you and in Anger his master turned him over to the tormentors to be tortured until he should pay back all that he owed and this is how my heavenly father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from his heart the servant was delivered to
the tormentors because of his unforgiveness it wasn't his sin his debt to his master that got him put in prison it was because he refused to forgive the debt of his brother how much has God forgiven you is it just a couple hundred bucks or has he forgiven you an immense enormous debt that you could never pay him back are you holding something against somebody something they might have done to you now I know that some sins against us are enormous abuses that are just unimaginable but in the Eternal scheme of things even those are
a day's wage Jesus says you got to let go of those things because we are the prisoners of our own unforgiveness the only way to be free is to forgive and you might be thinking I cannot forgive that person not after what they did to me it's too big it was too much and to just let them off the hook it would not be fair and you're right it's not fair but forgiveness is not about fairness forgiveness is about Grace we don't forgive because it's the fair thing to do we forgive because it's the right
thing thing to do it's because that's what God is asking us to do to let go because he has let go so that we can be like our father in Heaven to love with kindness and compassion as long as your hands are gripped around the throat of that person who sinned against you your hands are not available to rece receive the grace of God it's called Grace it's called Grace and just quite honestly um we don't get Grace we don't get Grace we don't really get Grace like we we think we think we're pretty good
and if God's judging on a curve you know releas better than our roommate it's not how it goes man we begin to think of ourselves too highly that's why we're so judgy and we think too lowly of the love of God we have no idea of his Holiness and his love we don't get Grace again we love it theoretically but when it gets very very practical like tangible Hands-On it gets tough so then Jesus says okay you're not getting let me give you a parable if you run a business you're going to hate this ready
I don't have time to read it he says there was a guy that owned a Vineyard and he starts hiring people to work in the vineyard so it goes out early in the morning right at the break of day starts hiring a bunch of people about every 2 hours he just rides back down and hires more people more people more people and then he hires one group of people in the 11th Hour they would work for 12 hours a day in the 11th hour if you've ever heard the phrase the 11th Hour it comes from
this Parable so those dudes only work for an hour of the day they call break at the end of the day the guy with the money handing out the paychecks say all right line up boys but the people that got here last the 11 hour guys we going to pay you first and they give him a full day's wage and everybody in Line's doing a little math right they like this is sweet man I'm going to get like triple time and a half I've been here since Daybreak and then the master hands them the same
days wage that he handed the guys that got their lasts Matthew 2011 and on receiving it the payment they grumbled at the Master of the House saying these last worked only one hour and you have made them equal to us who have been who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat but he replied to one of them friend I am doing you no wrong did you not agree with me for a Daenerys that was a day's wage take what belongs to you and go I choose to give to the last worker
as I give to you am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me or do you begrudge my generosity so the last will be first and the first will be last and listen if any of if that begins to rub you the wrong way it's because we begin to believe that we bring Merit to our Salvation and we begin to begrudge the generosity of Jesus cuz he saved some of us early and he saved some of us late he didn't do anything and they go that's not fair they are begrudging
the generosity of God and listen don't act like it don't happen to you some of you got saved in BBs you were good your whole life then we show these testimony videos of people that just train wreck their life and they get the same Heaven you do and you're like come on man man not if you know Jesus you would not if you want to know Jesus see the grace of God does not free you to sin it frees you from sin it frees you from the bondage of all the things that the enemy tries
to tie you down with so won't ever look down your nose at the Salvation or the gra Grace received by anybody else and begrudge the generosity of God towards you and again people are like that's not fair listen bro you don't want fair fair leads all of us in a christless eternity that we have earned it is the abounding grace of God that we get to even know him
