this is an interesting story but also heartbreaking in a way meet saffin a student from Daka University that in this video will explain us why Bangladesh is going through a very challenging time maybe they killed more than 500 5,000 plus 5,000 plus students but not only that saffin also is going to give us some very powerful life lessons in the Western countries most of the patients are suffering from the depressions yeah because of loneliness like in Bangladesh India Pakistan we have lot of problems we have a family and we have to live for our family he will bring me around his university he will show me the dormitories this the place where he work he your office where he study but he also decided to invite me to his home where I'm going to stay for one night with his family and then at the end we are also going to explore the reach and the modern side of Dhaka € 530,000 yes really yes yes so 500% but people still buy no yes in this video we have a lot to see a lot to learn and a lot to explore so sit back relax and enjoy this journey into Dhaka [Music] Bangladesh so guys guys I'm here with safin we met online and uh we are finally here together in D thank you thank you so much and welcome to Bangladesh thank you so much so today we're going to explore the rich side of Dhaka the modern side the developed side but first because sa is so nice he's a university student he want to bring me to his university and show me a little bit around and not only that but he also wants to invite me to his home and spend the night so not not spend the night together to say like that it's a bit weird but I will uh stay at his home for one night so I will sleep with his family he has a beautiful wife beautiful kids so I'm going to spend a a night and together we're going to explore the rich side of um Dhaka so we made it to the Dhaka University yes definitely you study here yes yes the building and the architecture is incredible this is your final year or uh I have completed my graduation ah you completed yes yes the 3 months ago ah so now you're done yes I'm with done congratulations yes I'm with done but I'm not doing Masters right now okay um I I'm preparing myself to study abroad let's see what happen where you want to go I want to go Germany and study Agriculture and this is the University swimming pool this this is the swimming pool not like the swimming pool this is the pond a just a bond where the students hang out all of the public universities in Bangladesh we pay pay a small amount tuition fees very small include accommodation yes including accommodation how much more or less the tuition per year uh just general like uh $100 per year yeah that's pretty $1 some departments are like uh uh $50 $50 per year include accommodations so yes include accommodations that's pretty good yes yes so the government really support ucation a public university and government alloted a lot of money for this students so we get a coffee at daa University I need to wake up okay don't don't don't no no I need to wake up man I still feel sleepy those are British buses no originally the style the model is come from British British yeah and these buses are particularly for the students right yeah we uses this bus for free so it's free for you completely free wow that's amazing all students yeah but they're also for the general public or only for the students the buses who have the tag with the Daka University line yeah it's only for students only for students and the Red Bus who have no tax that that will be common for all all the people and they have to pay and go to any all right cool very nice man many benefits huh from the university the British buses of Dhaka so those are all uh graffiti from students activists yes look at this 1971 2024 this is the independence of Bangladesh and this is today which is happening a lot this is Bangladesh 2. 0 Bangladesh 2. 0 I like that welcome to Bangladesh 2.
0 awesome man this is a real picture yes this is a real so this happened few months ago yes exactly the same thing happened few months ago wow when was that July yes July July 2024 yes unbelievable so they shoot him on the on the chest on the chest and he instantly died oh my God so let me explain briefly what is going on in Bangladesh because in July 2024 there were massive protests all across Bangladesh but especially in the capital city of Dhaka most of the protesters were University students especially from Dhaka University which we just visited but then within few days the protest spread out across the general population the reason is very simple the people are fed up and tired of the current government especially for the corruption for the misuse of the system of the laws and the massive inequalities especially about one thing that they implemented which is called job qu it's basically a system where all the government jobs they are resered and exclusive for certain group of people so the general population cannot really apply for these kind of jobs and you can imagine especially for students and fresh graduates they were really upset because they study very hard for many years and then they cannot apply for a government job keep in mind that in Bangladesh is not easy at all to find a job most of them are underpaid so many people in Bangladesh dream to have a government job so all of these things combined they brought massive protest in the streets in July 2024 but the big problem is how the government responded to this protest because they use extreme force and extreme violence they shoot at the protesters and in just few days they killed thousands of Young University students they also imposed cews and they did several internet blackouts so you didn't have access to Internet you didn't have access to social media you cannot communicate with other people but the students were very committed very strong very courageous and this brought on the 5th of August 2024 the resignation of the Prime Minister shaik Hina she left Dhaka by helicopter and she escaped to India and most probably she's still there as of right now after that the University students elected a new prime minister which is still in charge as of right now but the situation is still very uncertain very unstable and there are still many things to fix and to face for Bangladesh and you can also imagine that the population is still very shocked and traumatized by what happened just few months ago how many students they killed in the past few months in uh in the newspaper they said they killed like 1,500 or 2 yeah but this is not the real news maybe they killed more than 500 5,000 plus 5,000 plus students 5,000 plus maybe but this is also not sure because it's not a official number this this is not a official number the number of actual killing is above 2,000 plus more than 2,000 more than 2,000 yes and you you told me that even in one day they kill like hundreds of people in just one day yes yes definitely that's why you have all these graffiti they are just recent you know they just happen in the past few months because it's really going on a big battle now in Bangladesh political B also a real real thing happen a police officer try to silence Sil stud silence a student by his hand damn so now we're going to sain's friend uh dormitory to see how they live while studying here at Daka University this is a Hindu temple and I don't know if you can see there it's ad Yogi Shiva that that one specific is the one built by sad Guru in Co Bator I've been there because this is the non-muslim dormitory that's why you have the Hindu temple here Buddha over there Buddhist temple so they separate the Muslim to theim in front of this nice meet you guys can you imagine this is a university dormitor used to be the Palace of um is a mul yes he is M Emperor he is a naab i me uh I mean the ruler of Bengal okay so he used to be the Palace of uh the ruler of uh Bengal yes which is him and now is a university dormitor he is the last ruler of United Bengal okay I think so and now your a university friend live inside here that's crazy he lives inside a Royal Palace man look at this dormitor is insane what a privilege to live here man man imagine paying just €50 per year to study at the Dhaka University so pretty much free and it's free accommodation and you live in this kind of a o Palace crazy unbelievable I spent a lot of times here lot of times even in under this tree I have spent I don't know hours and hours okay come this is his place yeah this is the place he my friend his name is alamin Salam alaykum he is a part of this beautiful place nice to meet you man so how many people live here only one one four four people four right now so you have one bed here one bed there one there oh sorry and one there alikum so everybody has a bed and then a little desk to study yes you can come here to see ah this is your corner this is the this is the place where he work is your office where he study very cool man got your computer books books snakes sometimes little fan and this is B and this is the most important thing mosquito from mosquito and the mosquito are deadliest combination of like the zombies and drula in Daka dangerous yes all right thank you for showing me man thank you and where is the toilet this is public toilet there okay ah then you got the the sharing sharing toilet here yeah that's a nice bike I like it check out this this room okay that's another room and in your friend's room before instead of four people they are living eight or sometimes 12 so more than double or triple triple so we're going to have a quick look at the new market which is right next to the University New Market is one of the main attraction here of Dhaka and then we go to safin house to meet his family and then we go to explore the rich and modern side of Dhaka so this place is so important for all of us for the students for the politicians for the people of Bangladesh for everyone and this is the university area this is the heart of the political actions and this is also where like thousands of students died yes just few months ago on these streets in this roads thousands of students were killed for me it's hard to believe that because now they look like so peaceful and so quiet it's like a normal Road it's busy but it's just a normal road but literally just what 4 months ago yes here was like a a battle war you can see this is the place from World War II yeah wow like dead body on the floor all the police they're standing with guns they are standing with the tanks and you were here like protesting yes yes so this is the new market of daaka you can buy so many accessories from here yeah shoes clothes so what what can we let's buy a dress for your daughter small dress please okay you choose the one how old is she she's 5 months old 5 months old oh my God so small so I think something like this maybe what color she likes pink uh she didn't have any choice okay what is the price for this one 250 250 220 220 120 huh 12 130 here is very common to bargain in the New Market of Dhaka you must bargain so we got it for 200 taka okay okay don't about so there is a mosque in the middle of the new market we have a strong family Waring m and whenever I see them I can see my father is incomplete with my mother my mother is incomplete with my father and I'm incomplete with my father and mother mhm and my father and mother will be incomplete without I mean incomplete without me yeah so that the problem the problem is you can see in Europe in the west or you can see in Japan Korea there are so many people who can who who have suicide only for the lonely yeah but we have like in Bangladesh India Pakistan we have lot of problems we have unemployment problem we have financial problem we have so many other problems but still we don't need to we don't think about any suicide attempt or depression or depressions because we have a family and we have to live for our family yeah this is have a very strong family V yes this is the this is the strong family connection we have and that's that makes us that makes us life yeah that makes us come out from the depressions yeah the family yes this is the family yeah this is so true in in in West in the Western countries most of the most of the patients are suffering from the depressions yeah because of loneliness and even me when I come here I don't feel depression I don't feel loneliness or is I feel connected to the people it keeps me like alive engaged in fact I don't I don't know him but but still we we can connect with each other I can see that everywhere you go you connect with the people we connect with each other look at this we also connect with him yes how can it be the pr you can ask he can he asks him to take this one how much sir okay okay I take one very good oh this is called tal tal here also the the people tend to have family younger like sooner than in the west that's another problem I think in the west we just keep going like alone sometimes some so many bloggers come to Bangladesh and they show in YouTube that population is the biggest problem problem in in this country Bangladesh India or Pakistan yeah but if population is the problem then how China is so developed China is the biggest population in the world China has the biggest population in the world true now it's India but but India in India they are not like developed that much in Bangladesh we are not develop developed that much because China is using their Manpower and we are unable to use our manp power yeah this is the difference M you're doing it with clothes with the we're doing with our clothes but we don't give Justice to the workers yeah this is the problem yeah whenever I visit a like garments or I talk to a garments worker the conditions are not good they can hardly earn $50 or $60 or $70 per month can you imagine that's nothing man this nothing this is nothing yeah lot of hardship yeah but still the family is what keeps you going because they have family and they can manage within the $60 yeah we made it home yes come here you say how much is the rent uh $85 $85 per month $85 per month welcome welcome to home thank you so much this is your home and this is your family thank you so much and this is and this is your room please come oh man yes this is your room this is my room yes wow Corner Room yes this is room and uh when you told me about the private room and I thought that I will give you this room but this room has no attached bathroom so I give you this room yes yes no way with the bathroom attached yes and then you have another bathroom yes two bathroom yes two bathroom and two rooms wow man so this is your room take rest I love this room it's so bright yes you got like a corner yes Windows wind always come from here yeah you can easily fish yeah wow yes oh you have pants Oh yeah this is the gift this is the gift for my kid for the kid my daughter is sleeping right now sleeping okay okay man this is such a nice room this is all I need man great yeah a lot of buildings under construction here here here here hello so beautiful you wake up huh yes you just wake up to [Laughter] me she's so beautiful this one is for you we bought it at the new market for you it's for you see they also give us the under this is a pure Bali oh la this is amazing this is mixed vegetable in Bengali style and this is chicken curry yeah and this is a famous dish from Chong uh it is called the mesb dalos mhm and this is our heart like fish curry oh fish curry the famous one this is also what I say this is called Hindi maaji pumpkin ah yeah pumpkin yes pumpkin and this is lentin uhhuh we can say D and this is rice and after you have all the item and then you can have this one this is called f wow this is a desert oh my God bro this is like a buffet no no so nice little bit sauce also little bit of D so the tradition says I have to eat with the hands really good very fresh yeah I was thinking if maybe I can help you in any way in the video say about some service that you offer or something that maybe someone can get in touch with you just give me my link that I can guide you in hello Alum uh how do you feel in Bangladesh very good s you take care of me so it has been raining it's like a new kind of in Thailand they love they love Bubble Tea a lot oh my goodness sain is going to try for the first time in his life this is more like water yeah water with the bubbles less sugar M and a pinch of tea flavor m i I'm used to this for this my God man this is the first traffic light that I've seen in Dhaka in 4 days that I'm here there are literally no traffic lights except this one we are in uh what is the name here this is Gan 2 ganu so Gan 2 is the second uh Posh area so it's Gan 1 and Gan 2 also here you have fancy hotels restaurants different kind of uh see also
