Many small businesses and beginning professionals have difficulty making sales. But there are several techniques that can help you. And one of them is persuasion.
When used correctly and coherently, it becomes a very powerful tool. However, there are few professionals who can work persuasion the right way. Basically, persuasion is the action of convincing, persuading.
It's making the other person absorb what you're saying, accept it and believe it. In other words, persuasion can cause the listener to change their opinion or re-make a more appropriate choice. In other words, it is getting someone to accept your argument.
However, it is important to understand that persuasion is very different from manipulation. Some people get confused and think that persuading is something negative, like trying to deceive or force someone to do something. In fact, persuasion is positive when done responsibly.
It is based on true facts and arguments, while manipulation uses false promises or forces the other person to act without having a choice. With persuasion, the final decision still rests with the other person or the customers. Unlike manipulation, which takes away this freedom of choice.
Therefore, when used ethically and transparently, persuasion can help a lot in your business, attracting and retaining customers. Always remember: persuasion is about truth and coherence. This is essential to attract more customers and maintain good relationships in the long term.
And with that in mind, we will now show you the 9 Persuasion tips for you and your company to be able to work it the right way and greatly increase your sales. You can believe it! So, let's go!
1. DO A SELF-ANALYSIS First, start by looking at yourself and really understand who you are, your strengths and weaknesses. And understand which points need to be worked on so you can achieve more things that help you achieve your goals.
So, be yourself. Don't try to appear to be someone else as this may come across as fake to customers. Be natural.
And a tool that can help you a lot with self-analysis is the Personal SWOT Analysis. Through it, you will identify your strengths and weaknesses, as well as threats and opportunities to be worked on. 2.
BELIEVE IN YOUR PRODUCT/SERVICE For your persuasion to work well, it is very important that your product or service is really good. That will truly solve customer problems or needs. Believe me: with a great product or service, and with an appropriate price, your power of persuasion will be very strong and much easier to work.
3. KNOW YOUR CUSTOMERS Understanding your audience in depth will give you a very solid foundation to be able to create a relationship with your customers. Mainly because you or your company will understand not only your pains or needs, but also your preferences, habits and customs.
And in this way, you can work on arguments that prove that your product/service is really what will solve your customers' problems or needs. And a subject that can help you a lot with this is Buyer Persona. Which, in short, is the ideal representation of your client.
This is a fictitious person who, based on his target audience, was designed according to his most personal and particular characteristics. This will definitely help you a lot with this tip. 4.
IDENTIFY PURCHASE MOTIVATORS Understand why your customers need your product or service. And be consistent at this moment to understand whether what your company is offering is really valuable to them. And if they really are, identify the points that can be worked on to convince your customers that your product/service really is the best purchasing option for them.
5. KNOW HOW TO LISTEN It is very important to listen to your customers. This way, you will be able to get to know each person well and understand what they really need.
Including finding out if there is any obstacle, doubt or even rejection on their part that may be hindering the sale. Therefore, practice active listening. In other words: Be genuinely interested in what others are saying Listen and pay close attention to what is being said Don't just filter by what interests you Avoid distractions Ask questions when possible, anyway.
. . So, assimilate as much information as possible.
This will increase trust between interlocutors and the public. Furthermore, it reduces possible conflicts and improves interpersonal relationships. Still, don't own the truth.
Knowing how to listen and understand other people's points of view is essential to be able to communicate well. Be open to questioning your certainties and thoughts. Eliminate any type of violent communications.
Also, consider all opinions and try to reach a consensus among everyone. If there are disagreements, which is quite common , look for a balance. With good ways of arguing and, above all, a lot of respect for everyone.
6. HAVE CLEAR COMMUNICATION Be clear at all times when talking to your consumers. And be objective too.
Using the same type of language as customers and paying attention to signs that they understand what you want to say is very important. And get straight to the point. Don't elaborate too much because the customer's time is precious and people may feel deceived if you say too much.
7. PROXIMITY AND EMPATHY Empathy is something that will make a big difference. Often, people have their own values and opinions that are different from yours.
Therefore, put yourself in the shoes of other people in the conversation or the audience. And imagine how certain information would be viewed by them. By doing this, you will be able to understand how your message would be absorbed.
Thus, understanding whether what you want to communicate would work or not. And, in fact, create a connection between you and your audience. For example: addressing customers by name brings them closer to you, which indirectly makes them more comfortable.
Additionally, invite them to test your products/services when possible to prove that what you are saying is true. Finally, make customers realize and understand that you have already got what they need and that what is being offered is really relevant. 8.
FLEXIBILITY AND COHERENCE Always try to adapt to the context and to the customers as well. Be flexible to convince customers. And always be consistent so that the negotiation makes sense for both sides.
Understand whether what you are offering matches what customers need. And of course, if what the client is proposing also makes sense for your business objectives. 9.
USE MENTAL TRIGGER Mental triggers are extremely important for working on your persuasion. Basically, mental triggers are stimuli received by our brain that directly influence our decision-making. These are the decisions we make and don't even realize.
