Hello, my dear people! I'm so happy to be here today to bring the sixth, the second to last message on the seven churches in Revelation. Thank you so much to all who follow me, share the messages, who subscribe to my channel.
I'm thankful for that because every time you do it Youtube understands that this a relevant message and sends it to more people. Let's read in Revelation chapter 3, verses 7 to 13, "'To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.
I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.
I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars— I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you. Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth. I am coming soon.
Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown. The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it.
I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. What a beautiful thing, right?
The city of Philadelphia was built as a Greek cultural center around 200 BC. It was at approximately 20km southeast from the city of Sardis and it was praised by its excellent wine. Well although it was a Greek city, let's say, with Greek culture, it had a great Jewish population and it was destroyed around 17 AD by an earthquake, and then it was rebuilt by Emperor Tiberius.
Jesus the counselor, presenst himself like this, “To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open" Obviously, the churchc in Philadelfia when we look from a prophetic point of view was a tremendously evangelistic church and it certainly made a difference. Jesus clearly talks about it.
An open door that no one can shut and David's keys, so it's talking about the authority to preach the gospel, to invade and reach the entire world with the gospel of Christ. The Lord gives it two beautiful compliments. One of the most incredible ones in the seven letters.
It's in chapter 3 verse 8. He says, you have openly confessed the inspiration of the word of God, so "you have kept my word". At that time they were Christians who truly believed in the Bible as the word of God, who didn't question it, who didn't relativize.
Who truly believed it was the word of God and would die for it. So "you have kept my word", and also openly confess the incarnation of the Son of God, so "and have not denied my name. " The name of Son because Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the name of Jesus Christ is connected to the fact that he was incarnated.
That affirmation is regarding - if we look at it from a historical point of view, from the 1st century - John fought the whole time with the gnostics, who said that God could have never incarnated, so he fought the whole time with Gnosticism that denied that the almighty God could incarnate, but from a prophetic point of view, the church in Philadelphia is located in historical time when effectively the people started to question the word of God. More liberal theologians started to appear. So on one side, we had an active church, a missionary church, reaching the world, but on the other hand philosophy was introducing the seed of doubt and questioning and so on.
Jesus says that the church in Philadelphia deserved all those compliments due to standing firmly. That is so beautiful. Both compliments that Jesus gives to it.
However when we look a little ahead, what Jesus says about that church allows the possibility for us to believe that the church in Philadelphia still remains until our days, as the true church, as an antithesis to the church in Laodicea wich would be the apostate church. Why? Because when Jesus talks about the privileges, the benefits, the blessings, and the rewards, He mentions the new Jerusalem that comes down, that they will be pillars of that city, that they will be there present when the city of new Jerusalem comes down, so it sounds as if it's making a reference to the fact that it will also be a church present on the rapture.
When we get there I'll bring a deeper answer. How about condemnation? Was there any condemnation to the church in Philadelphia?
Not a single condemnation. It was an irreprehensible church, but Jesus gives an advice on verse 11, chapter 3, "I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.
" Once again we see an allusion to the coming of Jesus. "I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.
" And what is the challenge for the church in Philadelphia? "I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. " That is so important.
When God opens a door, we must enter and today we're living in a time of opened doors, espcially on the internet, so let's enter, let's preach, let's proclaim that Jesus is the Lord, that He is the only way. While the world is arguing over so many things, looking for answers let's fill the internet with God's word, preaching that Jesus is the only way, the only truth and the life. This is the time.
It's an open door that God opened and we must enter through it while it does not close. Amen? Now, that door that no one can close, I imagine that it has to do with four specific areas.
The first one, the door for evangelism. The second, the door to the heart of man. In Revelation 3:20 Jesus presents himself as the one who is at the door, "Here I am!
I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me" So I believe that here it's an allusion to an open door to the heart of men. That's why we have millions of people converting.
Millions of people from every culture, every religion, every belief, people who yearn to know God, and when the word of God comes, it comes powerfully. It comes breaking all shackles of the darkness, and it's sensitizing the hearts of people, so, my dear, preach! Preach in season and out of season because that open door which God opened, Lord Jesus opened is the door for the proclamation of the gospel.
In third place, I also believe that the door is the door of the rapture. The door for the rapture which is in Revelation 4:1 when John sees an open door in the Heavens, hears a voice like a trumpet, which says, come up here! So I believe that, truly, Philadelphia is also part of the church from the last days.
Although it begins earlier, it's a church that exists at the same time as the church in Laodicea, which is the apostate church from the last days. The third door, therefore, is the rapture door and the fourth door is the door of the second coming because that church, like all the others, will be present on the coming in the Armageddon. First, we go up.
Revelation chapter 4 talks about an oper door from down to up, and then Revelation chapter 19 has an open door in the Heaven and God's people come down with the Messiah, Jesus. Beautiful, right? But the Lord also promises that he will subjugate the enemies of that church.
Verse 9 says, "I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars— I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you. " My dear people, this is a promise that the Lord makes to those who are faithful to Him. In a way that the enemies will have to recognize that God is faithful to them, that God has favor for them.
They will have to look at you and say, wow what happened to you? What happens in your life? because I would like to have it and you will say, it's because I have walked in faithfulness and the Lord has promised this blessing for me.
Amen? Later He promises more. "I will also keep you from the hour of trial" First, I would like to differentiate that trial from all the others.
Jesus said, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
” We are not free from such tribulations, however from the Great Tribulation that will come to the whole world, to test the inhabitants of the earth, from that one Jesus promises to keep us and He says, "I will also keep you from the hour" from the hour not at the hour, and here in the original Greek there is a preposition ek that means from the inside out. Literally Jesus is saying that I will rip you from that tribulation. That is the rapture of the church.
It's a promise that we who are part of the church of Philadelphia, who believe in Jesus will be raptured and kept from the hour and not at the hour, because who is kept at the hour is kept during the tribulation. Who is kept from the hour is removed before it starts. The fourth promise Jesus makes is, I will make you a pillar in the temple of my God.
Here it looks like an allusion, a pillar is what sustains a temple of worship, here it looks like an allusion to a special honor to those Christians who are faithful to God in a time of persecution, of apostasy, of deceit, of the spirit of the anti-Christ manifesting, and Jesus is saying because you stood firmely and have not denied my word, kept declaring that it's the word of God. Kept on declaring that I, Jesus, am the Son of God, the savior, the only way. Because of that, you will be pillars, you will be important people, will have commendations, blessings of recognition in front of everyone in eternity.
isn't this beautiful? The period of the church in Philadelphia goes from 1700, some say that it goes from 1700 to 1900 AD, but, personally, I believe, for the reasons I already presented, believe that it begins in 1700 AD and goes until the rapture and that the church in Philadelphia, therefore, is the true church of the last days, that remains together with the church in Laodicea, which begins in 1900AD and goes until the rapture. There are some heroes worth mentioning from that period.
John Wesley, who lived between 1703 and 1791 AD. The founder of the Methodist church, and one of the greatest sons of England from all times. He impacted the entire Europe and the entire world with his preaching about holiness and Jesus as lord and savior.
In the second place, I want to talk about George Witfield, who was born in 1714 and died in 1770. Considered maybe the greatest public preacher since Apostle Peter. He was a great preacher.
Later William Ferry, 1761 to 1834. Great missionary in Burma. Later Adoniran Judson, from 1788 until 1850.
A great missionary in China before the Communist Revolution, obviously, preached to many people. Later David Livingstone, between 1813 and 1873. Missionary in Africa, and after D.
L. Moody from 1837 until 1899. A world known evangelist.
See how these men represented so well the church in Philadelphia. But today the Lord is also raising up men who are standing to preach the gospel, to resist the empire of the anti-Christ and I believe that all of us who believe in Jesus and have fought to stay firm with Him are part of that church in Philadelphia. The church that will be raptured.
Isn't this wonderful, my dear ones. I hope that you are enjoying it. We still have one last message.
The message for the church in Laodicea and I would like to thank you again and ask you to share these messages, and remember that, Wednesday I start a new series. Actually is not a series, is a prophecy interpretation course. The theme will be "Why all Christians should study the prophecies?
" Every Wednesday, 7:00 PM, we have a video-class. You go there, comment, ask questions and my people will take the questions. On Friday 11:00 AM I'm going live to answer your questions and other relevant questions that come up at the time.
I'm really excited. We have a starting date, but no ending date because I want to teach so much of what I know about Revelation, hermeneutics, how to interpret, when to interpret from a literal point of view, when to interpret in an allegorical way. You will be an expert on prophecies and will be able to share them too.
I love all of you. Thank you so so much. Sending much love to your heart in the name of Jesus.
