tonight the Sprint to election day begins the breaking news Robert F Kennedy Jr suspends his presidential campaign and endorses former president Donald Trump we are aligned on many key issues he's really a terrific guy he's a very talented person it's an honor what impact could it have on the race Donald Trump is an unserious man plus vice president Harris leaves Chicago after her historic nomination while Trump visits two Battleground states with just 74 days to go until America decides the CBS Evening News starts now the race for the White House enters a new phase tonight with the two nominees set in former president Donald Trump celebrating a key endorsement good evening I'm Nora odonnell and thank you for being with us just hours after vice president kamla Harris accepted the Democratic nomination for president Robert F Kennedy Jr joined forces with Trump after giving up his Longshot bid for for the presidency the former president is holding a rally tonight in Arizona to keep the focus on immigration which is a top concern among voters Trump has spent the week traveling to five different Battleground States as he hopes to regain momentum from a surging Paris campaign cbs's Caitlyn huie Burns is following the campaign in Glendale Arizona and she has an update on both of the tickets vice president kamla Harris left Chicago with the wind at her back while Donald Trump rallied voters out west with just 74 days to go until election day the focus now turns to a handful of states that will determine the winner of this election and in one of them a potential spoiler suspended his campaign and now to throw my support to president Trump independent candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr said he's taking his name off ballots in Battleground states that why he staying on the ballot in the Battleground States I would likely hand the election over to the Democrats with whom I disagree on the most existential issues censorship war and chronic disease but the controversial Kennedy isn't dropping out of the race completely urging voters to support him in some red and blue states where he says he will remain in contention it's a great honor really is uh he's very popular he's very smart campaigning in the key state of Nevada earlier today Trump welcomed the endorsement a turn from his previous criticisms of Kennedy as a radical left Democrat five of Kennedy's siblings slammed his decision to endorse Trump calling it a betrayal of the values that our father and our family hold most dear CBS News polling shows Kennedy was generating 2% of the vote nationally though it's not yet clear where his supporters could now go the Trump campaign hopes it could help make the difference in a state like Arizona where the former president lost by just under 11,000 votes the two appeared together tonight in the state for a rally we're going to win Arizona we're going to defeat comrade Camala Harris aiming to steal some Spotlight away from Harris's historic night in Chicago I promise to be a president for all Americans you can always trust me to put country above party and self in many ways Donald Trump is an unserious man but the consequences but the consequences of putting Donald Trump back in the White House are extremely serious now the next jolt to the race could come in just about two weeks when Harrison Trump will meet for the first good to talk to you want to know I mean what impact will this have Robert F Kennedy Jr throwing his support to Donald Trump he is still on going to be on the ballot in some of these Battleground states he is nor good to be with you but my sources inside the Trump campaign are relieved tonight so far Robert F Kennedy has removed himself from the ballot in in Arizona Pennsylvania Texas and Ohio that helps the Trump campaign those votes for Robert of Kennedy they believe they could now go to Trump Kennedy has also said he will remove himself from the ballot in 10 States total maybe more and it could have an impact because this now consolidates what the Trump campaign believes is the anti-establishment vote did Trump agree to give him a cabinet post or some other high-profile uh position they've been having private discussions and sources close to Kennedy say he would not make this decision today unless he had some sense that he could end up in a high-ranking position in a trump White House or a trump Administration we just came from Chicago that convention all week long four nights in prime time the big speeches all the attention they'll probably get a bump in the polls how does the Trump campaign plan to counter that they're going to keep going to the Sun Belt the industrial Midwest and the Deep South but for both campaigns it's all about debate prep right now September law the doj accused the texas-based company of violating Anti-Trust laws saying Real Page engaged in price fixing by using confidential information like rental rates in its algorithm that tended to maximize price increases on 3 million Properties Real Page has found a modern way to violate a century old law and to harm consumers in the process train a machine to break the law is still breaking the law in response Real Page said its software is purposely built to be legally compliant adding that landlords decide their own rent prices always have 100% discretion to accept or reject software price recommendations rent is the leading driver of inflation jumping another 5.
