idea how to make money online just starting out what would you recommend they do and how did it work for you yeah so I just wrote an email about this and um it's a little different approach but it's exactly what I did last year just kind of by accident over I jumped on Instagram threads May 30th um with kind of a different approach it wasn't a strategy it was like looking back on it I was like oh okay that's why it worked you know but going into it it was there was no strategy and I
just was uh I call it like a serve first mentality I just answered hundreds of questions in the month of June uh about digital marketing making money online um and just with my experience sharing my thoughts my opinions my perspectives on my experience and not Theory I never pitched anything I never sold anything I just being helpful and we were talking before this you know somebody would say oh I'm struggling with making money online and 20 people would comment and every one of them would be pitching you know DM me for more here's a link
to buy check out my profile and then I would answer and I wouldn't pitch anything there would be no call to action I would just give them what I would do and it built this community and like by like the third week of June people were asking like hey how'd you do that how you going on threads so fast and I was like I'm just answering questions and then people kept asking they're like no you got to be doing something more than that and so I kind of threw out the idea I said hey I'm
thinking about putting out a like an ebook I don't have a name for it I I don't I haven't even um wrote it yet and this was on a Saturday I said I'm going to open it up on Monday and um people are like I said it was not going to be ready till the following Saturday you're buying air right now uh this is a pre-sale for 10 bucks and they uh people bought and uh I just pulled it up and I ended up doing uh $3,129 in those first five days selling a $10 PDF
which was crazy that I hadn't I hadn't even wrote one letter of the PDF like I and I told them that I let them know hey this isn't going to be ready this is a pre-sale you're getting it at at a discount at 10 bucks and then that Saturday I told him I would deliver it and uh I ended up delivering it Thursday a couple days early because I was so overwhelmed with how many people essentially bought air and they trusted me um but looking back like it was I I did just did the math
it was 32 days from the time I jumped on threads with no plan no strategy I just answered people's questions and I just built such this community of people that just trusted me and then I launched this $10 ebook and make $3,100 in five days and I think it was 5900 and for I so I increased the price that Saturday to $17 thinking okay you know now PE like sales are going to drop off a cliff because I raised the price and that weekend sales like increased and I end up doing like 5900 in the
first seven days overall um and since then I've sold it like 1100 times I think I have 216 testimonials for it people still buy it to this day and that was I launched it July 1 so if I were to start over again I would jump on like one social media platform threads Facebook is a really good one like Facebook groups um and I would just jump in and answer people's questions I don't care if it's about growing on Instagram if it's around parenting if it's around budgeting if it's around how you lost weight if
it's how you gained muscle horseback riding vintage furniture like I don't care what topic it is it like it it applies to any topic and just jump in and share your thoughts and opinions and perspectives based off of your actual experience in whatever topic um now obviously it needs to be a topic that you're interested in talking about you know um but something you have experience with and just kind of have that serve first mentality of just helping people out and it just builds this community and like I I'm not uh like those 30 like
32 days it transformed my life like since then it's been just it's been a wild wild ride since July 1 wow this is incredible so my first question is because when I think about threads were you posting on your own page on threads or were you just commenting on other people's um threads yeah I would say like 80% probably close it was probably closer to 90 90% was just commenting you know you Wen even trying to come up with something clever to say just no no it was just like giv back and then like so
I would make a comment on a post and then like if the next day the comment had like four likes I was like huh okay well that comment resonated and sometimes I just copy and paste that comment and then I would just post it on my feed or reord it maybe a little bit but it's like okay it already resonated four people liked it I'm gonna go share this on my feed um and that was like the whole strategy was just commenting and then if a comment did well and got some engagement you know I
was like okay I'm going to share this on my feed that is so smart like I my mind just goes crazy thinking about this because I'm thinking like even if you have interest or something and you see someone has a question even if you don't know the answer like we are such at an advantage where you could just go to AI or Google to find the answer just so you look intelligent just to just to get the the oh thanks that was really helpful and you didn't ask for anything just to you know get the
follow now my other question is so do you think this could work for anybody as far as say like say I wanted to like um this very random talk about help people with ski equipment or who like to go skiing or something like that but I grew my account fast for all these skiers could I take this same concept and just say how I grew on threads even with a ski account but it could apply to other people and sell a product like that too like similar to what you did would you recommend something like
that yeah I mean you could probably do that you know there's I mean I think it's tough to do like two niches but I've seen or multiple niches but I've seen people do it and like I like I I have a post that I've made on threads that have resonated well that I've shared multiple times and like I say like I don't recommend niching down with your content but I do recommend niching down with your offers meaning like I talk about a lot of stuff I talk about being a dad I talk about Fitness I
talk about losing weight it's not like I talk about that stuff all the time but I do mention it um but my offers I don't sell anything on how to lose weight I don't sell anything I love this advice I don't sell any I sell on business stuff you know so my content is kind of I wouldn't call it all over the place but I talk about a lot of topics are um but my offers are pretty niched down to specific like how to grow on threads is one of them right that's okay some really
good advice okay so someone say okay what do you recommend like how do they how did you create your product what tools did you use so I just you I it was a Google doc just white background black text it was nothing fancy nothing sexy canva no try no I like I don't have a Graphic Design bone in my body and so I created it in Google doc and that's how I delivered it and then eventually I hired someone to make it look pretty and fancy and canva um but initially it was just a white
literally just white with black text like now how did you sell it like what payment processor did you have for them to like pay you first for you yeah I used on I used system.io to launch that oh system.io okay yeah and so that's what I used uh to launch that and it was um yeah I had like one upsell or I had an order bump for um templates you know like plug-and-play viral threads templates and that worked out really well because it just was very congruent with the you know how to grow on threads
and and and the product was nothing about how to make money on threads because at that time I hadn't made money on threads I made a couple dollars but I didn't feel comfortable saying you know hey how to make money on because I hadn't made money so instead it was just hey how to build an Audi it was build a because you're one step I always said like you're just one step ahead of someone else that's enough that they want to learn from you from you know so yeah even just being able to grow an
audience first you don't even have to get into the money yet because that's a whole another level now do you even talk about that too so then I released threads unleash to which was how make M I love felt more comfortable because it was three months later because I had made a lot of money on threads you're teing what you know yes yeah and that's what I I've learned that the hard way I think it's important just to teach what you know not try and just be everything to everyone because that's just not something you
can do yeah no yeah most of my content is like I I'm really big on this like I don't I don't share like how to content like how to grow on threads I just say how I this is how I did it I'm not saying it's the best way I'm not saying it's the only this is what worked for me and it's funny because people will argue and they're like that's not how you do it I'm like well this is how I do it like if you if you want to do it your way that's
great this is I'm just sharing how I did it you know so it's like it's a subtle change with how to and how I but it's just like I'm just I just do things in my business and I just share them and and I'm not scared to share the losses like the mistakes I make hopefully I can extract a lesson from the mistake to help my audience avoid that mistake but people will reach out to me and they're like aren't you aren't you worried about damaging your credibility because you say like I I openly joke
around that I suck at Instagram and it's like I suck at Instagram that's why I'm on threads and people are like aren't you worried about damaging your CR ability and I was like no like I I'm just being honest like I'm not I've gotten better at Instagram now but like six months ago I was like very open with like I suck at Instagram um you know I'm running ads right now on Instagram and Facebook and I'm open like I was like I lost $148 yesterday people are like oh my gosh aren't you worried about your
credibility I'm like no because today I made 450 like you know like I don't mind like sharing the losses and I and it sets realistic expectations with people exactly and because so many people have these unrealistic expectations um but yeah I just want to be like open and honest and hey it's not you know with the ads it's very like it's an emotional roller coaster and you know I'm doing like talking head Instagram stories of like dude today sucked it sucked today you know the next day I was watching your Instagram too you guys got
a I'm GNA put your links below because you're I think people resonate better too with someone who is real and authentic than someone who's acting like every day in business is great I'm living like best life there's no Downs in this business at all this is only us we need real people and I think that's what people are actually looking for and obviously you know that to be true because you're doing well even sharing reality yes yeah I sh like I have more failures to share like it could be because you fail a whole lot
more you know so and I told people like I had one lady on my email list she's like you share your failures more than any other entrepreneur I know I'm like well I have a lot of them like because it gives me a lot of content you know and like I'm not embarass so true that's so true people rather you know I don't want the same mistake so help me out you know especially went through it already exactly that's how I look at it if I can help like you avoid the mistake then it's not
really like a fail because now like okay maybe I can help you you know so I don't look at it as like a failure okay I love this so so right so this is just to making sure that we all understand so if we want to start making money online we don't know what to do this is definitely a strategy to use something like threads but you you're not even disclosing to just threads you're saying Instagram Facebook whatever platform so I guess the first thing you need to do first is kind of look at your
own life do I have any interest in a certain topic or an experience that I could offer in those different categories that am I correct yeah 100 per. like like I'll give you a random example that's a like it's just an outside Niche like I had a I have a product called the digital product challenge where if somebody launches their digital product everybody teaches how to create digital products but mine's a little different where if you not if when you launch your digital product I will become your first customer and it's kind of like the
little carrot on the stick that I that that's like the little reward and it makes my product different from every there's 10,000 other people teaching you how to create and sell digital products and so I had this lady come to me like a year and a half ago and I had no idea she was a new mom and she had trouble breastfeeding I didn't know this was an issue I had no idea I'm a man you know I don't get that and so she said like she was taking supplements you know to to breastfeed her
baby and she was like kind of ashamed and embarrassed with her husband and like family that she had to take supplements and then she was worried about that the safety of you know with the kid and so she went on this journey and and you know this quest of YouTube videos podcast and tried to learn like what foods she could eat you know where she could produce bre breast and uh so she came to me she said do you think that's a good problem and so she ended up creating like an ebook and like a
recipe guide and she had like 20 meals you know 20 meals that helped her and then all of a sudden she stopped taking these supplements and so like that's a random I know that's a random Niche but that like that's a pretty big problem for for for moms that I didn't know of you know so she created an ebook on that so it literally can be like it literally can be anything my one thing that I like always suggest is find a problem you enjoy solving for a group of people you enjoy solving it for
not because it's popular not because it's trending not because it can make all this money because that stuff wears off I had a shop five store years ago selling women's jewelry I made a ton of money um I was miserable you know selling earrings to like women in Iowa like that got old really fast you know I paid off all this debt I took my dad to the Masters but then I was like what this is I don't like this you know no purpose in that and there's a lot of people that get into this
make money on npace and try to teach people how to make money online just because they bought a course last Tuesday and now they're Sally Sue and they're this expert you know and and but like I have DMS from people because I'm very like I talk about this topic a lot like I had a lady reach out to me a few months ago and she had made like $4,500 in her first like 30 or 60 days good money and she was a faceless account she's like I hate this I was like wow you're making good
money she's like I don't want to talk about making money online she's like I have other passions and but she says now I feel trapped yeah because I've built this audience around this and I feel like I have to show up every day she's like I have no desire to talk about any of this she's like but I kind of feel like I have to you know so that's why I'm really beg on finding like something that you're interested in I mean I I've listen to a podcast a lady earns like $122,000 a month she
teaches people how to se stuffed animals I mean you can do anything like you can monetize anything in in in 2025 I love that okay so yeah so start with obviously something that you I like that that you what did you say that you have a problem that you find a problem you enjoy solving for a group of people you enjoy solving it for like for the group part you know like if I was teaching how to lose weight I probably wouldn't teach women because different not not that I don't like women but you know
women and men losing weight it's a I can't say like oh it's that time of the month suck it up like I can't say that you know like so so finding the group of people that you would like to to help as well that that's that's an important part of it too okay yeah so I would say that's the first thing then it's finding out where do those people live so it could be Facebook groups it could be thread Instagram so that's the first thing but I think those are things you can do like it's
just think through even especially if you're your own avatar is your own problem you're solving where do you hang out kind of thing like that and it makes it a lot easier I love how you say that you're telling your story it's not your it's your experience and this is how you overcome imposture syndrome because you're not thinking about this oh am I being real or not like no I'm being real it's my story I know how to tell it there's no like fear in that it's just my story which works what works for me
and then okay so you find your your tribe wherever they are and then you just start serving and then once you just start serving you becoming known as just a value resource not trying to sell anything but at that point are you you trying to also build up audience too at the same time right y yep exactly now should at this point should they be getting people on their email list at all or just serving and then at some point how do you make that point where you're like okay I think I'm ready to go
ahead and make an offer and create something yeah I like I'm a big believer like you're like just no email list no funnel none of that crap that that comes later I'm not saying it's not important but I see a lot of people get so bogged down with like logos and websites and you know changing their Instagram bio 37 times in a week thinking that's going me I know no and I've done it before too I so I totally did it you know uh but thinking just a couple words is oh that's the missing link
you know and so I'm a big believer in like going out and just getting one customer like just one and then once you get one get a second one and then get a third one and then you have conversations with these customers and they'll tell you well so first like first you answer all these questions people are going to start coming to you let's say you get 10 people out to you three of them are going to ask the same question something very similar and you're like H okay so three out of 10 asked XYZ
maybe I could create a product around XYZ and that's basically what I did with threads people are asking how I was growing so fast you know and then that created your product their their questions I love when I I had 800 followers and and I wasn't I didn't think I knew enough about threads even though people were asking me I was dealing with imposter syndrome and I was like that's not enough I need to have in my head I told myself I need to have 2,000 followers before I sell anything that was just a madeup
number in my head yeah and another lady published a a a guide on threads and she had 400 followers and I had 800 and so I saw her and it was successful and people were giving her good reviews and all that and I was like huh so she gave me the belief in myself that wait if she can do it with 400 followers I can do it with 800 followers and so like she was the and i' I mess her since then and I was like if it wasn't for you thre leash wouldn't have happened
because I didn't believe that I had like I was like I don't have enough followers and then I saw she only had 400 followers you know um so yeah like I I got kind of caught up in that but um but that's how I would do it is have people people will reach out to you and they'll ask for help you know I've I've been running ads since the end of November like by mid December I had probably 10 people ask about ads because again I'm sharing the good and the bad you know I'm losing
money I'm making money I'm losing money I'm making money you know overall I'm profitable but not every day I'm not profitable every day you know and so people saw that you know then I opened up a coaching program and it sold out in eight days because I'm like I'm open about it you know I'm not saying it's all sunshine and rainbows you know and people appreciate that and it seems like I get more DMS from the on the post that I share the bad stuff you know the the losses or the failures you know people
reach out they'll reference hey I saw you made that post last week about you know how you screwed up or how you lost money or something I was like oh okay like it's very rarely the post hey made all this money you know so the people really resonate with that and it's just a different approach because yeah like we said earlier everybody portrays like they got it all figured out and they got the six-pack and they got you know business and this perfect marriage and these perfect kids you know behind the scenes it's a a
hot mess you know yeah no I love this so much I feel like there's so many people like uh create a product and um like just do all these things but you actually have a like a blueprint on how to create the the product it's not just like create a product no you're creating a product because their demand for the product because people are actually asking for the whatever they're asking for yes I feel like this is probably like some of the best advice anyone can get because so many people want to make money and
I get it like feels gotta get paid but this approach is a little bit longer but it's more I think it's more profitable and it's longer term yes 100% it's more sustainable like you actually now have an audience that actually cares what you have to say instead of just a quick you know something can go viral and then then what do you have after it dies down so this is an approach that I think that is so important to be able to share instead of just what these online gurus always just talking about just create
a product okay what product go to check gbt Define the list I'm like no that's not the way to do it this is the way to do it and I love it so much so once every so you find your tribe then you then you have a you know what offer to create like you said you could start it out with a Google doc and then sell on the system IO or the other different platforms yes and once you have that then you sell it like you just did and then at that what point do
they start doing the email list then uh yeah the after you probably start getting a handful of customers so you can start emailing your customer base um but yeah like the tools and all that like I just like I said earlier like the people get so bogged down in the funnels and the tools and all that it's like go go get a customer something changes like in your head when you get a customer especially if it's something you actually created yourself and I tell people like yeah making sales is cool even better is a customer
buying something that you created and then they go get that result that you shared in your guide like that feeling like I joke around I said the best feeling in the world is cleaning your ears after a shower and then I say the second best feeling is a customer taking what you've taught in your ebook guide course whatever you want to call it and then they go out and get the result that you like your process they followed your framework methodology whatever it is like that's such a good feeling and and like I don't care
if you sell the ebook for like $5 like like the point isn't to make a bunch of money right now like initially and again back to the it takes patience which most people don't want because they want this instant gratification and and then start reaching out to these customers if you Ma if you have to manually reach out and ask for their feedback on the product and sayy you're not going to hurt my feelings like if if I missed something like let me know like because I want to make it better for the next customer
right know and as you're talking to them they'll say yeah chapter three you you skipped this step or maybe chapter two and four were're redundant so you tweak it you make changes you ask for testimonials they'll give you test you know not everybody but you'll get testimonials and now all of a sudden you take that $5 doll ebook and you increase it to 10 and then 20 you know so but then you like you basically built this product with feedback from people who've actually given you money you know so like my digital product challenge is
$97 I launched it a couple years ago it was a $7 ebook now it's 97 because I did exactly what I just said like I got feedback from people they they're like Adam you you're you didn't really explain how to do this so it was very confusing and like I didn't go like butt hurt about it and say oh well screw that and I was like okay thanks for the feedback and I you know I I tweaked it I made it better you know and now it's a $97 thing but it started as like a
23 page um PDF for seven bucks you know but I just added to it I added to it or I removed stuff and I don't mean just add more to it to make it more more more some people said like dude this is confusing you repeated yourself and so I was like you know what you're right I didn't even see that so I I deleted a couple Pages or a couple paragraphs or whatever yeah I love that so much okay so then like so now we're at the end of The Journey we're now like how
do you keep this going like do you have any advice for people now like they got a good offer how do they put it on autopilot yeah so um that's that's like what I've been doing the last couple months is trying to like Instagram and like especially with ads and that in getting it trying to trying to get it like as autopilot as possible um yeah and then like so having conversations with so I'm big on just like releasing this PDF or ebook as fast as possible getting it out there getting feedback from your customers
as you're having conversations with those customers they're going to tell you what other problems they're having which can be a which can make for a great upsell you know 10 people bought your product and three of them say Adam how do I do XYZ you know it's like oh you know I should probably that's that would make a good upsell you know based off of what they told me again this is a longer approach you know so now you create an upsell you know and then maybe it'd be time to explore ads um you know
because now you got a product that has sold you have social proof you have customers saying this is the next problem I'm having so you're solving that with the upsell you know you basic it's more like building it with feedback from customers as opposed to just like launching the funnel and everything being in place on day one and not to say that method doesn't work I'm not saying that you know but it's just kind of building it takes a little bit more time um but it's much more effective because you're getting feedback from actual customers
and they're telling you what other problems they're Sol they're having um and then it's kind of just whe whether it's creating content to feed the machine or um right um you know running ads to feed the machine you know it's kind of which way you g to do like we were talking earlier like I'm all big about like organic because I feel like for it but ads is actually a little bit smarter because you don't have to work as hard and it's like you kind of get it on so it's it's all about preference but
that is really like you gota either continue to create content or you can get ads to work for you where you don't have to do all the work that it takes from creating content so got it's a totally personal preference when it comes to that yeah I think once you like start playing around with ads you like like at least for me I was like why didn't I do this six months ago I know that's how I'm like I'm not like that but I want to give there because if I could do I'm all about
making more and working less like that's like that's kind of that's the point actually yeah but it does come with headaches I don't want to I don't want to set unrealistic expectations that it's this push button thing um it's it's it's not as easy as most claim it is um but man is it worth it you know yeah no this was so helpful so like what kind of um how can people learn more about you and like your products and things just because like I feel like you are a wealth of knowledge that somebody's actually
really out here in these online streets yeah online streets can you tell us where can we find you and more information about how we can get into your world yeah just my website is probably is the best Adam dukes.com you know I have a YouTube channel that I'm finally getting back back into um and then threads and Instagram I go under like piss off boss um that was just kind of um the username that I came up with and I kind of you know I had a personal brand for years and then I kind of
I was getting a little burned out and then like I opened this new account new Instagram account last May under actually it was a faceless account um and I felt so inauthentic and like three weeks after I I I show started showing my face and then I just went with the piss off boss name and I was kind of like hiding my name not hiding my name but just kind of took a different approach and um the piss off boss thing like I can't change it now because so many people know me as that you
know um but yeah that that would be the best would be uh just my website now really quickly what do you think about the whole Instagram face those accounts like what's your thoughts on that yeah like the biggest thing like I T the biggest thing that people struggle with without a doubt like no doubt fear of judgment like it's the biggest thing and the face solv that problem and yeah because they're scared of what their mom their dad their brother their sister their aunt their Uncle their Grandma their grandpa their boss their neighbor their cooworker
or some mfer they went to high school with 15 years ago is gonna say about them or think about them and the weird irony is those people first of all those people aren't watching you as closely as you think they are and because they're not watching you as closely as you think they are because they're so worried about what others think of them you know um so I think that's why faceless has risen so much um because of that fear of judgment yeah but I think like fa like I'm not like a huge fan of
it but like like it's so competitive now but not to say it can't work but like just most faceless content is like lifeless it just they model everybody else so they all look the same and just so like you really have to push lean into your story you know and sharing your personality and with faceless it's so much easier because nobody can judge you they don't know who you areum but sharing your story and sharing your personality like even even though you're faceless that's how you separate yourself from the 10,000 other faceless accounts right right
right now that's good feedback there okay all right any last words for us aspiring or our already entrepreneurs out there um like I um I think everyone I I hate saying everyone can do it because then that diminishes from the people who are actually doing it it does take Focus discipline consistency patience and an unshakable belief in yourself I have the word believe tattooed on my wrist underneath my watch and it's like it's say I have believed on my wristband I have it on both sides and like that it that's where it starts is believing
in yourself you know so I don't want to say like anybody can do it I think anybody has the capability to do it but if you have the you know Focus discipline consistency but I just think we all have like a story to share and we can all I'm a big believer and most of us could create something um you know I say like your knowledge wisdom experience or skill set could save someone time money stress anxiety shame guilt embarrassment fear humiliation and frequent trips to the liquor store and that's valuable you know but a
lot of us just take it for granted you know you know it's like oh well I've been a parent for 15 years I parenting just comes natural well there's a parent out there that has been a parent for one year and they're freaking out you know it comes naturally to you because you've done it for 15 years yeah you know or or weight lifted or losing weight or cooking or I mean fing I mean whatever nich it is it comes naturally to us so we just think well everybody knows this it's like well no not
not everybody does you know so people have to kind of reshift their mindset that like they have talents and skills and they have like monetize their magic is what I like to say I love that I love this so much it's gonna help so many people so I just want to say thank you so much on and sharing this and I want everyone to follow you I mean like you're the real deal here real authentic real deal so I want to put your link in the description below and you guys have any questions definitely show
