I get it you've been searching for a reset button a chance to rewrite your story to stop living a life that you don't love this is it stop telling yourself you need a month or even a year to turn your life around you only need 7 days and this is the only blueprint you'll ever need stick with me because by the end of the week you will have a clearer path to a more fulfilled and purpose-driven life notot long ago my self-esteem was at Rock Bottom I felt like a failure and life I'd never find
happiness or succcess so I never would have believed you if you told me then that I would be living the life that I'm living right now that has given me everything I could ever have dreamed of and more here are the contents of the video if you would like to skip but first we need to start with one of the biggest mistakes I see being made when people are trying to chase their dream life day one squashing the fear of change what if I told you that your brain was wired to resist change making our
task of Reinventing oursel a little bit trickier but the good news I'm about to show you how to hack your brain and make it your strongest Ally yet when I was growing up I was an insufferable noit all and almost like a karmic punishment at 16 that all Came Crashing Down up until that point my self-identity was grounded in being one of the Smart Ones and this was the first point in my life where I started failing exams being at the bottom of of the class just not understanding things as easily as I used to
be able to my self identity was shattered because before that when anything hard happened in my life I always attached so much of my self worth to being the smart one and now I wasn't and I basically gave up on my dreams of going to medical school because I had a fixed mindset I believed that you either were intelligent enough to go to medical school and be a doctor or you weren't and this was proof to me that I just wasn't cut out for it I didn't get the grades and whilst I watched my friends
go off to University I had no idea what I was going to do I also did not have any money so I volunteered in a mother and baby clinic and a school in Zambia for 3 months and then I came back and I worked full-time as a carer whilst resetting my exams between my experience in Zambia and working as a carer from 7:00 a.m. to 10 p.m. I became an adult overnight and I did so many things I never thought that I would be capable of doing I showed myself that with hard work and determination
I am capable of doing hard things and what I was capable of wasn't just determined and set out for me from the moment I was born by the time I finally got my place at medical school and had reset my exams my perspective had completely changed I wasn't stupid like I'd once thought I just didn't know how to study properly so I spent hours and hours learning effective science-based study techniques and then five years later I didn't just graduate from medical school I got my dream job as a doctor in London with the cut off
Mark being 91 out of 100 the first step for Reinventing yourself has to be understanding the psychology of change according to do Carol DW a renowned psychologist and the author of mindset the new psychology of success the belief in our ability to change is crucial when you believe that your abilities and intelligence can be developed through hard work and dedication you're more likely to embrace challenges persist through setbacks and ultimately achieve your goals so your day one challenge is you are going to open up your notes app and in your notes app you are going
to write down as many times as you can remember that you have overcome challenges you have developed you have risen to the occasion and this does not need to be as dramatic as running a marathon or getting in the top 1% on an exam but it could be getting a be where your teacher predicted you would get a c running a 5k without stopping when you used to be out of breath by the end of the block pushing through social anxiety and getting yourself to an event you didn't want to go to doing a presentation
in class when public speaking makes you want to violently wretch being a good kind person to other people when you felt like you had no energy to give or learning a new recipe when you left home and you could not cook every single one of those examples evidences are our brains ability to change so every single time that little voice in your head says I can't I want you to take a long hard look at that list and remind yourself you bloody well can day two the psychology of intention what if the only thing standing
between you and your dream life isn't hard work and determination it's Clarity in my experience most of us feel busy and drained and exhausted but not necessarily fulfilled you don't need more hours at your desk you need a better idea of where you want to go so let's set the intention that could change everything in Psychology It is Well evidenced that people who set specific written goals are more likely to achieve them and if you add belief to your goals they become an intention the most powerful exercises I have personally found for claricy in my
life are from the skillshare class designing the life you want four exercises for clarity and motivation by Michelle V which you can access completely for free because skillshare are kindly sponsoring this video and are giving the first 500 people to click the link in my description a one month free trial of skillshare I am such a sucker for any activity that helps me dive into my subconscious and truly assess what it is that I actually want to build a life that is more fulfilling for me and this class gave me activities that I revisit on

there but first if you are enjoying this video then please let me know that you'd like to see more content that's similar by subscribing to the channel however you want to reinvent yourself it can seem like such a huge mountain to climb and almost too intimidating to even start day three is all about breaking down your big intention into actionable steps the idea is that you can create bite-sized tasks that you can tackle on a daily basis for instance if your goal is to get fitter today's action might be a 10-minute workout or if it's
learning a new skill 10 minutes on developing that new skill psychologists call this chunkin and it's a proven strategy to reduce overwhelm and make bigger goals feel achievable the key is to start small and build momentum so today's challenge is to just put 10 minutes just 10 minutes towards one of your intentions day four we need to stop ignoring reflection if you think reflection is just for philosophers think again the simple action of looking back shock is the gamechanging way you can Propel yourself forward a crucial step in Reinventing yourself is regular reflection it's about
taking an experience that you had whether that's from work school personal life and treating it like how how a scientist would dissecting it being analytical taking time to assess where you are what's working and what not is key to staying on track research suggests that individuals who reflect regularly are more likely to adapt and improve over time so if you are stuck in a rut I would bet my pinky finger that you've been ignoring reflection and honestly I get it when you are so busy with your career keeping up with laundry trying to salvage so
some form of a social life and just taking life minutes by minute trying to not get burnt out it's completely clear why reflection ends up at the bottom of the pile but please remember that reflection is your compass and without it you aren't going anywhere a well evidenced way to reflect is journaling now I'm not great at journaling but every single night after dinner myself and my boyfriend go for a walk and this is my daily personal reflection time where I voice my Reflections to to the good listening ears of someone else but for the
day three challenge I want you to promise me that you're going to answer at least one of the following reflective prompts and if you're on a roll you could even do a couple more I'm going to put them on screen now if you would like to screenshot day five do something you hate feeling uncomfortable good that is exactly where you want to be if you are Reinventing yourself let me explain why discomfort is your best friend if you're stuck in a I don't necessarily think that that is your fault I love the modern world I
could learn anything my heart desires straight from my laptop from skillshare or eat whatever food I am craving without having to walk out my door and there are lots of people who work without even leaving their bed I can speak to my M 200 miles away in Wales without even having to leave my couch convenience is amazing but you know what it means that we rarely do things that make us feel uncomfortable anymore reinvention isn't comfortable it involves stepping outside your comfort zone because guess what that's where all the growth happens according to research people
who regularly engage in activities that pushes their limits experience greater personal growth and resilience so stop shying away from challenges embrace them whether it's learning a new skill moving to a new city or even something as simple as speaking out in a meeting these moments of discomfort are Stepping Stones to becoming who it is that you want to be guys we're doing so well we're doing so well we're on day six embracing connection now this is the point of the video where I think I will disagree with basically every single other reinvent yourself video on
the internet which advises you to lock yourself in a cupboard for 6 months and cut off your entire support network let's get one thing straight if you are trying to do something alone you are setting yourself up for failure day six is all about recognizing why your support network is the backbone of your reinvention there is strong research to support that strong social connections are one of the most significant predictors of happiness and well-being surround yourself with people who uplift you challenge you and most importantly believe in you I could not have achieved anything without
my Village my medical school friends kept me accountable year after year in the library or my mom always encouraged me when I was failing my boyfriend for cooking and making sure I'm eating healthy meals every single day when I'm working all hours Under the Sun the difficulty with this of course is you have no control over the actions of others some people will be un kind some people will not be a good friend some people will do you wrong but I'm such a firm believer that to find the people that we want in our life
we first have to be those people ourselves so your day five challenge is to give the connection that you wish to receive help a colleague at work share your notes for a class check in on a friend or do a random act of kindness for a stranger if you look at every successful person you admire they all have a strong Network around them and this is what bothers me so much about the YouTube videos that I see that tell you to disappear and burn everything that you've built up to the ground you don't need to
do this to reinvent yourself because the people who love and support you and believe in you should support you in carving out a life that is fulfilling for yourself day seven the power of small winds do you want to know the secret to longlasting change it's not about massive leaps it's about tiny consistent victories that add up to something extraordinary one of the most effective ways to reinvent yourself is by focusing on small incremental changes what we call small wins research from Harvard Business School shows that making progress in meaningful work even if it's a
small step forward can significantly boost your happiness and motivation small wins equals big progress and I've seen this in my own Journey psychologically we enjoy things that we are good at it massages our ego it makes us feel good about ourselves so the issue is getting to a place where we feel like we're winning so it makes us want to do more this is where the importance of recognizing and celebrating the small winds comes in it's like planting a seed tiny at first but with consistent care and attention it grows into something beautiful the same
goes for a personal transformation start small build momentum and watch how those small winds accumulate into huge changes over time I challenge you to set up a WhatsApp group chat with a few close people in your life it may be friends it may be family and if absolutely no one Springs to mind then maybe leave a comment down below and see if there's anyone else watching the video who would like to join this group chat with you this is going to be your gratitude group chat with a Twist I've had my gratitude group chat for
three years now and every single day we put in three things that we are grateful for big small anything but recently we've started also adding in a daily small win this can be as small as doing the laundry that we've procrastinated or as big as getting an incredible mark on a test but regardless of whether it's messaging in a group chat treating yourself or just taking a quiet moment to acknowledge your effort celebration is key take a moment today to celebrate how far you've come even if it's just a tiny step forward recognizing your progress
keeps you motivated and reminds you that change is happening so we know how to reinvent ourselves in 7 days but how do we keep it up this video on how I build a routine and stay consistent will help you maintain everything that you've learned in this video and this video has been specifically recommended for you based on what you're interested in thank you so so so much for watching this video if you did enjoy please don't forget to like comment subscribe I hope you have a wonderful wonderful wonderful week and I will see you in
the next video for home go to Barcelona now guys we going to film this video so quickly you've never seen somebody move so quick I had to get to Barcelona that's better that I think so many words okay now I'm fuing I'm really fuing what's that banging I'm getting a cold breeze and I feel like the fridge is open
