of that team you just played they're just bangers you're better than they are they cannot keep getting away with beating you like that well unless you stick around for this video they're going to so a common narrative that I hear all the time is that bangers are playing pickle ball the wrong way playing fast especially for a newer player can be one of the easiest strategies to have immediate success so can you really blame them the reality is is that if you're losing to a banger it's not because they're playing the wrong way it's because
we're allowing it to happen so here's what we're going to go over in this video first I want to Define what a banger actually is I think that term gets thrown around really Loosely and so I want to kind of nail down what exactly it means when we're talking about a banger next I want to look at the what I think is the number one myth of how to beat a banger I hear it all the time and I think it's the totally wrong way to go about it so we're going to address that and
then last I'm going to give you three best tools that you need to have in your Arsenal to be able to beat a banger or any hard-hitting player hey guys I want to take a quick second and ask a huge favor of you if you're not already please subscribe to the channel it's going to help me grow reach a wider audience and hopefully create more and better content for you guys okay so what is a banger typically we just associate it with someone who hits the ball hard a majority of the time and that can
be true but but if I'm playing and I find a weakness in my opponents and exploit it by hitting hard for an entire game that doesn't necessarily make me a banger that actually makes me smart for finding their weakness and exploiting it a banger on the other hand is someone who wins exclusively using power they usually don't have a plan B if they can't do it and they also are not addressing if it's the right or wrong situation to use that power or if it's the right or wrong strategy so the easiest way to define
it is typically a banger is going to be a one-dimensional Power Player okay so let's talk about the biggest myth of how we're going to go about beating a banger and that is I hear it all the time is that we got to slow them down so if they hit hard we got to reset it we got to put the ball back into the kitchen we got to play slow and force them and not give them shots to hit hard at us now this really doesn't work at all and let me give you a couple
reasons why number one really the whole idea behind a banger is they like we said they're using exclusively power to try to be successful which means they're going to be making a lot of poor decisions they're going to be hitting incorrect shots and wrong shots at the wrong time now if I'm choosing to reset those I'm an Essence giving them a free pass on that wrong decision or poor decision I'm letting them off the the hook so the key here is we need to make them pay we need to penalize them for these bad shots
and not let them off the hook so here's an example of what this looks like me and my buddy Carlos are going to play out some skinny singles points from the kitchen line Straight Ahead from each other I can do anything I want but Carlos can only reset when I speed up so what you're going to notice with this is there's nothing that he can do to hurt me if I speed up at him and I hit it a poor shot he's just going to re set it let me off the hook and then guess
what I'm going to do it again in in another ball or two so the more my opponents let me off the hook with resets the more that gives me a green light to just keep speeding up every single ball every single ball so this concept that resetting is the answer and putting the ball back in the kitchen is the answer is actually the opposite because you're just feeding the Beast you're just giving that power player or that Banger more ammo to just keep coming at you over and and over again so I want to thank
selker for being a sponsor of the video I recently just switched to this new Vanguard control and this paddle is amazing legitimately one of the best paddles I've ever played with I love it it's got great spin it's got good power it's got good feel and touch up at the kitchen line if you want to check out any ckirk gear for yourself make sure you use code ab- sinola at checkout and you will get a free gift card with your purchase so now we're we're going to dive into the three tools that we're going to
need in our Arsenal to put an end to this once and for all and those three tools are this number one we got to learn to punish it number two we got to learn to leave it and number three we got to learn to not give it to them if that Banger opponent of yours sees you flinching resetting looking passive stepping back falling backwards looking scared those are all things that are just feeding the Beast and they're just going to keep coming keep coming keep bringing power but if we can hold our ground stay relaxed
keep compact swings take their shots and send them back with authority and send them back with confidence it's only going to take a couple times of that before our opponents start to realize that things are not going according to plan and when they don't have a plan B it's going to get a little dicey for them so we com refer to this concept as counterattacking so you're in luck because I purposely made this video as a followup to my previous V video which is an entire video on counterattacking so you have to go watch that
because that's going to give you everything you need to know to learn how to Counterattack and send those balls back at your opponents with authority so I've seen their shot rocketed back at them is the worst thing that a banger can see the second worst thing that can see is to watch their shot sail along Time After Time After Time so the second tool that we need to really dial in here is to learn to let the ball go and this can obviously be easier said than done because our decision- making time is short the
ball's coming very fast and it can be a very difficult skill to learn to let the ball go so here's my little trick or here's how I go about it personally the key to learning to leave out balls is not to wait until the ball is hit and then react and decide whether or not it's going to stay in or out but it's actually to start to make up your mind based on the situation before the ball is even struck okay so we have a lot of criteria that we're going to look at and I'll
try to weigh really quickly and decide what are the chances or what are the odds that this person could keep this shot in okay so here's what those things are we're going to look at ball height we're going to look at ball positioning in the court we're going to look at my opponent's back swing we're going to look at my opponent's forward momentum and we're going to look at my opponent's history like do they like to hit the ball hard 90% of the time those are all things that we're weighing to know even before the
ball is struck of do I think there's a pretty good chance that this ball is going to go out then I'm going to leave it the more you do this the better you'll get at it but you have to start by being aware you've got to be aware of every situation on the court be aware of where and what the ball is doing be aware of who you're playing be aware of what their Tendencies are and be aware of usually what results that produces the more you do that the more you'll find instinctively you're just
going to be leaving out balls or knowing a Ball's going out before it's ever struck so the Banger has now watched their shots being punished back at them they've watched their shot sailing long their confidence is getting real low at this point so what's the last tool in our Arsenal that we can use against them and that is that we're not going to give them the shots that they want to begin with okay so there's two shots that are easier than most to speed up okay the first is what we call a dead shot or
a dead dink or a or a dead ball basically if the ball has too much of an arcing trajectory three then when it hits it's not going to be moving through the court it's going to hit and want to sit up bangers and hard-hitting players love to hit those shots because they're just coming in they're sitting up nice and high and they're nice and juicy for that person to just rip at you the second one is a ball that comes out of the air so if you give the person a ball out of the air
especially a ball that's probably above knee height that's going to be another one that just instincts kick in and they're going to hit the ball hard okay so our goal is going to be two things number one if we give our opponents a ball out of the air we're going to try to make sure that they're hitting anything out of the air always below their knees they'll probably still want to speed that up but it's going to be a lot harder for them to make that shot so their success rate is going to go down
drastically number two is as much as possible we're going to try to avoid dead shots so we're going to try to get away from hitting those shots that are too loopy when we don't have to and try to keep the the ball flying on kind of a flatter trajectory because if my opponent is having to do nothing but half folies pick the ball up off their feet hip balls low out of the air and they don't have a lot of time to let that ball sit up then it's going to be hard for them to
create power to begin with and when they do they're going to be poor shots that we can either punish or we can let go okay so now it's your turn grab your screenshot hit the courts and show those bangers that they've got nothing on [Music] you
