AND GOD BLSSED THE HOUSE OF OBEDEDOM

if you have your Bibles tonight turn with me to the Old Testament book of 2 Samuel 2 Samuel the 6th chapter 2 Samuel chapter 6 beginning in verse verse number nine 2 Samuel 6:9 if you got the right Bible it's on page 5 134 Hallelujah make it easy for you thank you Lord if you've got the wrong kind of Bible get the right one I'm kidding maybe 2 Samuel chapter 6 beginning in verse number nine and David was afraid of the Lord that day and said how shall the Ark of the Lord come to me

so David would not remove the Ark of the Lord unto him into the city of David but David carried it aside into the house of OED Edom the gitite and the Ark of the Lord continued in the house of OED Edom the gitite three months and the Lord blessed obededom and all his household I want to say that one more time and I want you to get this into your spirit and the Lord blessed OED Edom and all his household Hallelujah and I want to use for a subject preaching a few moments tonight and God

blessed the house of OED Edom well I don't I feel that Hallelujah and God blessed the house of OED Edom and not only did he bless the house of OED Edom he can bless your house as well and God blessed the house of OED Edom let's pray Heavenly Father we come before you in the name of Jesus we thank you for your presence that has been in this place tonight we thank you oh God for all that you have done for us at calvary's Cross we ask humbly for the anointing of the Holy Spirit we

cannot Minister tonight without the anointing of the Holy Spirit we ask that you would anoint our ears to hear what you would have us to say and God bless this house tonight and everyone it and we ask it in the mighty name of Jesus and everybody said and everybody said amen amen the other night I was in bed I was trying to get some much needed sleep and of course I think with this message on my mind I got just a few hours of sleep but the Lord begin to bring back to my mind as

he does every once in a while how that the message of the Cross came to me and you know brother Larson said something this morning when he was sharing his testimony he said you may get tired of hearing it but I don't get tired of hearing it or sharing it and church when you've got a testimony you don't ever get tired of hearing it and you don't ever get tired of sharing it and you may get tired of hearing this but I never get tired of hearing what God has done for me I was about

22 years of age maybe 22 23 years of age it was a Sunday morning my grandfather was ministering and I re I don't remember the service at all I don't remember who was singing I don't remember the specials I don't even remember the title the text that my grandfather used but in the midst of his message he made a statement that forever changed my life but before I say that what that statement was I want to lay a little bit of groundwork just for a few moments here if you will give me a few moments

of your time to elaborate I was born in September the 19th 1979 we got any 70s children in the house some all right I feel you thank God we don't wear bell bottoms anymore more but I was born in church I was raised in church I sat under some of the greatest Ministers of the Gospel the world has ever known and I do not back up by saying that Lord I remembered some moments in time traveling with those Cru on those Crusades when my mom would actually be able to bring me my brother Matthew older

sister Jennifer on that particular Crusade I I I don't remember a lot of it because I was young but I do remember certain parts I remember me and my brother as a child going early with my father to help with the setup in one of those giant coliseums back in that time frame I must have been about 7 8 years old maybe 6 78 something like that and I can remember it was on one of those afternoons it was I think the day before the Crusade would start I believe it was on a Thursday and

my father was going around making sure everything was a okay every all the lights were being set up right the crew was working right and everything what have you and there were a couple of guys and I believe Rick mod was one of them who was one of our former sound men he would wrap up a black masking tape making into a ball and he would find a broom and then he would put x's in the shape of a baseball diamond and while everybody was setting things up and while he was waiting he would play

stickball with me and my brother I do remember that I don't remember much else but I do remember that but going back and watching some of those classic Crusades over the network and seeing what God was doing at that time and even though at times I was present I don't remember but watching those things you can sense the presence of God and the spirit of God and some of those messages that were preached 30 and 40 years ago are still applicable right now and even those messages that were preached 30 and 40 years ago you're

still we're still seeing people being saved and baptized with the Holy Spirit by watching the work and watching those classic Crusades let me deviate for a moment and let me say share this story last August during the flood of Louisiana the great flood of Louisiana so many of you were helping regarding putting uh uh things and and and and whatever was needed supplies into the hands of people who had lost everything we had people coming from all over the country to help and volunteer at this effort one couple one couple came I've known this couple

for I I would dare say close to 10 years I preached for them in a little town called okobe Florida have you ever heard of that oh yeah I've I've only been there a couple times had a great time when I was there too they stayed for a few days and they came to the crossfire service and the gentleman that I will not reveal his name but he pulled me off to the side he said Gabe I got to share a testimony with you said sure he said right before we were to leave they were

driving a semi full of equipment full of supplies that were needed by a lot of the people here in Baton Rouge and Denim Springs and Walker and Gonzalez and whatever it's the surrounding areas it was a 15-hour drive in that semi 15 hours in that semi the night before they were to leave they went over to her his father-in-law's house the pastor of their Church where they serve and they were going to let them know that they were leaving out early early early in the morning they would not see him until they got back when

they walked into the home met by his mother-in-law his wife's mom she asked her mom well where's Daddy the mom looked at and said you might want to give him a minute he's in the back well what's going on he said just give him a minute she did did they walked back into the back bedroom where he was wiping tears away from his eyes she said Daddy what's the matter he sat down he said you'll never believe it you'll never believe what just happened he said I knew whenever I was running from God I knew

my mama got saved at a Jimmy Swagger Crusade I was running from God I did not want anything to do with God and yet knew God had called me to preach but I was running I didn't want anything to do with God and yet it was through the prayers of my mama after she got saved at a Jimmy Swagger crusade in Nashville Tennessee and I believe the year was 1985 that just a few years later I would get saved baptized with the Holy Spirit and called right into the ministry he said I'm getting ready for

bed i' have the television set it's the Jimmy Swagger classic Crusade I'm watching it I'm listening to it in the background and finally I turned around and brother Swagger was given an altar call on salvation and I just happened to stop and as that camera was panning the crowd that camera landed on my mama he said I watched my mama walked down that aisle he said I watched my mama with tears running down her cheeks say yes to to Jesus Christ that was some 30 odd years ago and he said I'm here because my mama

got saved at a crusade at Nashville Tennessee Hall what a testimony but growing up in church saved at the age of five baptized with the Holy Spirit the age of eight I knew I was called to preach as well I knew it and I think some of you who were here and that time you used to pinch my cheek and tell me that I was as well but all growing up sitting under the greatest Ministers of the Gospel who would ever live I never understood even as a teenager I never understood how to live for

God I tried in my own ways I tried to do things in my own efforts I tried and I struggled I struggled and failed I failed and was miserable and there were times and I know many of you understand what I'm talking about when you get to that place where you don't know what else to do at times you feel like you want to wave the white flag of surrender and say I I don't know what else to do I've tried everything else I've done this I've done that I've tried this and I've tried that

but I still seem to fail and I don't understand why I would go off to college in Oklahoma even though I met some great individuals who I'm still close to to this day I think it was the the mo the the most miserable two and 1 half years of my life I mean I was miserable because I didn't know how to live for God I didn't understand it I would walk to my dorm with tears running down my face saying God I don't understand it I'm trying I'm doing everything I know to do but I

just don't know how to live for you and I get so frustrated at myself because I know better but I don't know what to do and then on a Wednesday night November of 2001 sitting in my bedroom by myself my dorm room I should say sitting on the edge of my bed the spirit of God came into my room and all he told me was this it's time for you to go home and I said Lord you ain't you got to tell me twice on now I had two weeks left in that semester I went

to class I didn't take a li one lick of notes I mean I didn't the the test and exams I signed my name and handed them in and my teacher would look at it and said you don't this did you just signed your name you didn't answer anything I said no I didn't she said why not I said sign IA I'm out of here I'm going back to Baton Rouge I had a teacher one of my professors tell me she said and I asked her point blank what do I need this class for she said

well what if you're going to do this and I said I'm not going to do that what if you're going to do that well I don't know I'm not going to do that either well what about this I'm not doing that either she said well why are you here I said I hadn't figured that out yet she said I think you might want to reconsider I said I think I might it was about two weeks later when the Lord said go home and that's when I said I said I'm fine with that I came home

enrolled into Bible College and even under some of the greatest professors and teachers of the Bible that we have in the world even listening to brother lson brother Bob and and sister Sharon at that time and others as they were teaching and they were ministering on the message of the cross I still did not understand it I would hear it but I couldn't comprehend what they were saying until one morning on a Sunday morning here at Family Worship Center I was sitting where Jason sdam is sitting I was listening to the message that morning like

I said I don't remember what my grandfather was ministering on that morning but he was standing right here back then he doesn't do it much now but back then when he ministered he start there begin here and then eventually make his way all the way down there and I remember seeing him walking up this aisle and that aisle high-fiving people while he was at it but at that moment that that morning he was standing right here and he was facing this section and then all of the sudden he just turned around mid sentence and pointed

that finger classic pointed that finger right into that camera and said the answer that you seek is found in the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ the same thing the holy spirit said to him some years before he was telling the whole world and that morning sitting in that chair all of the sudden it was like the veil was removed I sat there for a moment I felt the presence of God as the Holy Spirit was telling me that's your answer you've been trying the all the wrong way that's your answer seek the cross look

to the Cross look to the Cross look to Christ and what he did it was at that moment it was like as some of you have stated it was like I was born again all over again I mean the spirit of God moved on my life and it was the beginning of a change that hasn't stopped from then until now and it will never change it will never stop I should say from the moment I die it'll never stop but it will continue to grow as long as we remain faithful and humble and looking unto

Jesus the author and the finisher of our faith God changed my life and thank God that I can stand here and say at 37 years of age that I I thank God that even at this young age at 23 I think it was 23 years old that I was exposed to the message of Jesus Christ and him crucified thank God that I can say I was exposed to the teaching of the message of the Cross it's revolutionized my life and it will continue to do so in a positive manner I thank God for that in

my opinion one of the most interesting Bible figures found in the entirety of the word of God is David D David's life when you read the story in the life of David you will read the ups and the Downs you will read of the highs that he would experience the victories that he would go through and experience but the Holy Spirit would also add into that his failures his defeats his struggles they're written in black and white and when you read of his victories you get you share those victories with him if you will you

you're excited by reading those victories but many times we want to gloss over the failures but they're they're here for a reason and tonight we're going to look at one of those failures when you talk about failure that's not something that we all want to address but at this time of our text the nation of Israel was experiencing a fruitful transition David had been sitting on the throne for some 10 years at this time of our text her son was ascending for some 40 years they had suffered through Saul and now God's CH is Seated

on the throne David at this juncture as David was Seated on the throne knowing that there was something missing he would begin the preparations to bring the Ark of God back to Jerusalem the Ark of God had gone missing taken by the Philistines when you read in 1 Samuel I believe it's the second and third chapters you'll begin to read of the account where the Philistines and the children of Israel would engage in battle Eli who was the high priest of that particular moment was a Godly Man with the exception of his two sons hne

and fahas however you want to pronounce that name that's how ion ounce those names these two men Eli's Sons were priests but they cared nothing for the priesthood in which they conducted themselves they could they could completely care less about God they had no they had no intentions of ever really fulfilling and following after God but they used that platform as a position to enrich themselves sounds like some preacher today isn't it they care nothing for God and Eli should have removed his two sons but he refused to do so and in this battle as

they were in In the Heat of the battle against the Philistines someone said let's bring the Ark of God to the battle and hne and fahas grabed the Ark of the Covenant the Ark of God and paraded it into the battle only to find that God was not pleased with such and God would allow hne and fahas to be killed in battle but more importantly he allowed the Ark of God to be taken by the Philistines one man would leave the battle and he would make his way back to where Eli was and he would

break the news that your sons were killed in battle but also he would break the news that the Ark of God was taken when that happened Eli would fall back and break his neck and he would die some 70 years would pass and the Ark of God was not in the place where it should have been that's right the Ark of God was away in fact F's wife would give birth to a son and she would call that boy kabad for the glory of the Lord has departed and for some 70 years the ark was

not in Jerusalem but it would be found in a field you think about that found in a field disregarded for so many years the ark was a type of the Pres presence of God Amen and you can I I think I can say this without having any fear or of of misusing this text for this moment and this purpose but if you were to go in most churches you would not find the presence of God but it's outside somewhere neglected done away with and in a sense hiding in a field and David would find this

Ark and he would make the preparations for bringing the Ark of God back to Israel back to the place where God would place his name Jerusalem however in the course of the preparations David would do something that would bring about a serious serious failure and death he would begin to consult with all of his men he would consult with his people about how the Ark of God should be brought back not one time did he ever consult the Lord that's right that's right but he consulted with others and he failed to consult the word of

God and the Lord on how the Ark of the go of the Covenant the Ark of God should be transported back to Israel amen you see God had a way for the ark to be moved he had a way way that the ark for it to be moved when they would move in the Tabernacle and pack up and move somewhere else that there was a specific pattern that was to be followed and how the ark was to be moved it would begin and I'm just going to say this quickly with the coites they would be

the ones that would be in charge of the Ark and all of the utensils the golden lamp stand the table and the altar such they would be the ones that would be in charge of this they would take the ark and they would remove the veil and place the veil which is a type of the Holiness of God over the ark then they would take a badger skin a type of the Incarnation of Christ and place it over that Veil then they would take a blue cloth signifying their help comes from above and they would

place that over the badger skin they would take those those rods and put them through those rings and it would be carried on the shoulders of priests who are types of Christ am listen to me there were types of Christ everything in the Tabernacle pointed to Christ everything in the Tabernacle pointed to what Jesus Christ would do at calvary's Cross everything that the Tabernacle represented pointed to Jesus Christ and him crucified in order to have the presence of God we've got to go through our great high priest Jesus Christ Hallelujah and David failed to consider

that he ignored it he consulted with his generals his men and he came to a decision that I believe would haunt David for a good period of time they decided to borrow an idea from the Philistines to bring the Ark of God back to Jerusalem the Philistines plac the Ark of God on a cart and so David said well we'll make it a new cart we'll make it nice and pretty and we'll put the Ark of God on this cart and bring it back to Jerusalem strike two not only did he fail to consider the

word of God and insult the word of God and the Lord he borrowed the idea from the very ones who tried to defeat them the Philistines there's too many now listen I'm going to be very hard for just a minute so I hope that you don't get mad at me too much but we've got too many Christians and too many Pastors in churches all across this nation and around the world that are completely neglecting the word of God they're Consulting with others they're not Consulting the Lord Jesus Christ they're not kneeling down and saying God

we've got to had a word from you we've got to hear from Heaven they're neglecting the word of God and there's too many new carts in the church today oh yeah I'm I'm going to just just bear with me here there are two many new carts the church is full of carts the church is full of carts Hearts trying to bring the presence of God back in all the wrong ways trying to they're baring things from Hollywood to bring it into the church they're boring things from the Grammys and bringing it into the church they're

boring things from the world and bringing it into the church they have to know that will never work it's never worked it will never work Hallelujah God has one way get back to the cross get back to the word get back to Jesus Christ and him crucified it's full of new CS everywhere you go it's new cart this and new cart that brother lson talked about it some this morning and he was right about it there's too many of that junk going on we've got to have some men and women that will stand up and

say get that junk out of the church it doesn't belong it's time that we remove the new carts out of the church they say and they use the excuse what we've got to reach the Millennials and let me let me help you I'm not a millennial if you really want to be technical I'm Generation X on no let me change that I'm going to get really technical I'm generation cross oh you didn't get me I'm generation cross I'm not generation x y z or Millennial I'm B I'm Blood Bought I'm Sanctified I'm baptized with the

Holy Ghost I know Jesus is living in my heart I'm generation cross generation cross that's it they say we've got to reach the millennial let me help you you want to know how to reach the Millennials it's easy get on your knees in your prayer closet and say God give me an anointing to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to whosoever will when you get back to the word it never fails it never fails it never fails Hallelujah get rid of the carts come back to the Bible get rid of the music come back to

spirit filled anointed [Applause] music it gets me angry when I see people in a church with their pants hanging down to here [Applause] their boxers are showing I call me whatever you want I might be old school in my Theology and I make no bones about it young men when you come to church pull up your pants God doesn't want to see your underwear pull up your pants it's time for you to come back to decency it's time for you to come back to morality and while I'm at it guys when you come to church

take the hat off I don't care if it's sideways backwards or frontwards take it off show some respect for God we're in God's house not yours we're in God's house [Applause] ladies don't come to church with your skirt up to here no one wants to see that either come on now don't come to church with a tank top nobody wants to see that either but if your child of God act like it dress like it be like it come on Church be like it act like it dress like it be respectful in the house of

God we got to reach the Millennials you want to reach them get full of the Holy Ghost and start coming back and preaching the word of almighty God it will touch anybody The Young and the old [Applause] alike that junk is an Abomination to the house of God it is an Abomination to God himself I feel some of you right now [Music] [Applause] I feel some of you because I know you're right now you're going to the computer to write an email I'll give you one further you want to write me you can go on

services when you don't even mention the cross because it might offend somebody just think back in your life it was you were offended at one point but it brought you to your knees to where you accepted Jesus Christ Hallelujah all right there was much pageantry there was singing that's right that was dancing and David was watching the processional just as there is a lot of singing and dancing in the church they don't make it right all right and all the sudden in the distance was a threshing floor there's always going to to be a threshing

floor right and that Ox that was carrying that cart Came Upon that threshing floor and that Ark hit that threshing floor and it be to wobble and all of a sudden usza one of David's men fearing the Ark of God might fall he put his hand on the ark to steady it and when he did he was strick did let me help you church God doesn't need your help he doesn't need my help he doesn't need our help he doesn't need any church denomination or affiliations help we need his help it's his hand That Should

Be steady in us we don't have we have no business trying to study come on come on when you mistreat the Holy Spirit and you ignore the message of the cross on now what could meant for blessing what could have meant for blessing for you could turn into judgment do you do you listen are you listening to me I want you to listen to me once I'm going to say it one more time because I want this to sink in when you ignore the Holy Spirit and ignore the word of God and you mistreat or

ignore the message of the Cross thank you Lord what could be what could be your blessing will turn into a judgment and David when he saw who's a fall dead he backed up knowing just how close he was to death that's right everything stopped the singing stopped the dancing stopped the profession the processional stopped everything stopped and fear would grip the heart of David fear would grip his heart heart I believe he knew right then and there he sinned and yet as our text Bears out put verse number nine back up on the screen he

would ask the question how shall the Ark of God be brought or come to me how shall it come to me he was afraid just like many when they're approach with the presence of God some of them are afraid but the Bible goes on to say it changes the narrative here I begin this narrative with death with horrow and sorrow and heartache but I want to switch over the narrative here because David may be looking out and seeing there's a house somewhere in the distance the owner is OED Edom and David sends the ark to

the home of Obed he didn't want to be around it so he sent it away from him now I I just have to believe this the Bible does not say this it doesn't go on any detail it's silent regarding this issue but I just happen to believe in my mind's eye that this is how it played out ohed Edom was in the distance he saw the pro the processional him being a levite he saw everything that was going on and maybe in his heart saying oh no that's not how it's to be done that's not

how it's to be handled the Ark of God should not be handled that way he saw the whole thing stop but then all of a sudden he saw men heading up to him he approaches them and they say the king is requesting that we leave the Ark in your house David doesn't want it OED said I'll take it maybe maybe maybe maybe maybe Little Junior was out playing and he turned around and said Boy tell your mama the ark is coming home with us oh my Lord you didn't get that Junior tell your mama the

ark is coming home with us tell her to prepare the bestro the ark is coming home with us tell her to get the room ready the ark is coming home with us let me stop here for a moment do you remember when the Ark of God came to you oh my do you remember when the Ark of God came into your house do you remember when the Ark of God showed up in your home do you remember that that the when the Ark of God showed up in your life you may have been lost well

you were lost you may have been high you may have been drunk you may have been whatever but all of a sudden the Ark of God showed up Jesus showed up and intervened on your behalf and changed your world I don't remember I wasn't alive of course when the Ark of God came to a little town called Fair Louisiana you see my family members he'll tell you I'm just hearing this I don't know these people cuz they've all long since been gone but he'll tell you our family lineage they're not exactly holy they're either Moonshiners

a Bootleggers are law Breakers it's the truth but God would see that and he would see that there is a family in Far Louisiana that's open to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and never even seeing a Bible or hearing a gospel song God would send two ladies from Alabama down here to far Louisiana where God would say build a church in this town we don't know anybody we don't know anybody here in far he said it don't matter I'll just just build the church I'll bring them in and one by one the Swagger Clan started

coming coming into the ark the Swagger Clan started coming in the ark they started coming in they went from bleers and Moonshiners to preachers of the Gospel but that Ark didn't stay there because down through the generations that Ark would continue to bring in the Swagger family because was it then happened to my grandparents the ark that God God brought my grandparents in at a young age brought them in called them to preach and God would see to it that he put two people together in waah hatchee Texas who just happened to be my parents

and brought them in to the clan but it didn't stop there at the age of five God brought me into the clan as well and he gave me a holy ghost filled [Applause] Fox I'm going to say it again God gave me a holy ghost filled Fox bring her into the clan and now my children are all saved one of them baptized with the Holy Ghost don't tell me that God still does doesn't perform Miracles God brought us all in and you remember where you were when you got saved when the Ark of God came

to your house you see back then the ark can only come it can only be in one place at one time now it's everywhere it's everywhere it's everywhere as long as there's a Hungry Heart it's there as long as there's a searching Soul it's there yeah I got to hurry I got five minutes and I'm done maybe I better not remove my jacket I might have somebody emailing saying bless God you removed your jacket I can't watch you anymore forget it I am turn the channel if you want to it won't bother me but you'll

just turn it right back because you know the spirit of God's here jacket or KN the spirit of God's here and OED Edom knew how to tle the ark he brought it into the best room he placed a veil over it doesn't say it but I believe he did he put a badger skin over it doesn't say it but I believe he did he put a blue cloth over it didn't say it but I believe it did because the next sentence that I want to say indicates that something good take took place because the Bible

says says and God for three solid months blessed the house of OED oh my Lord I'm going get now to the nitty-gritty church he said it last night I was hoping and praying I was like don't go any further you're taking half my message but I realize his name's on the building so I just have to take it from him so I'll steal it from him in a good way not a five finger discount so don't get me just in a I'll borrow [Applause] it you're a child of God you don't belong to Satan you

belong to God you're an heir of the father you're joint air with Jesus Christ he wants to bless you he wants to touch you he wants to bless you hallelujah oh my Lord my Lord I know some of you say well I don't know if he wants to bless me if you're saved you're blessed he wants to bless you even more he wants to bless you oh I wish I had somebody with shout here tonight he said prove me watch me as I'll open up the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing that

you don't have have room to receive it all Hallelujah quit moping quit moping and say I see God bless so and so I see God bless so and so Square your shoulders stand up straight and say devil my blessing's coming through too my blessing's coming through my blessing's coming through say it my healing is coming through you may be sick with cancer but your healing is coming through your deliverance is coming through I'm going to get to where some of you you're going to argue with this but your finances God's about ready to send a

breakthrough your way he's about ready to send a breakthrough start claiming it God my breakthrough is coming my breakthrough is coming my family's coming my nieces are coming my nephews are coming my God wants to bless his [Applause] children God has blessed this house naturally he's blessed this house but as we look to what he's going to do don't forget what he's already done don't neglect the blessings he's given you already because that's just a sign from Heaven that's saying there's a bigger one coming there's a bigger one coming there's a bigger one coming my

blessing is coming through oh my Lord hey Dave Pon can you stop that clock please just press the pause button for a moment somebody called The Atomic Clock Company and bring it back about 5 minutes because I want to show you something Pap all talked about it last night he gave you four of the five he missed one so I'm going to add that last one in but he talked about how that you can receive a blessing from God well I like I said I already had it planned to do this so he beat me
