in the hills of Bethlehem a young Shepherd named David tended his father's sheep David was the youngest of eight sons of Jesse he spent his days guiding the flock protecting them from wild animals and playing his harp despite his youth David was Brave and had a deep faith in God which gave him strength and courage he often reflected on the stories of his ancestors and their Reliance on God's promises as he watched over the Sheep he would sing songs of praise expressing his trust in the Lord his brothers busy with other responsibilities often overlooked David's
faith and dedication considering him just a boy one day David's father Jesse called him from the fields David Jesse said I need you to go to the battlefield and bring food to your brothers they are fighting the Philistines with King Saul David was eager to help and see his brothers so he packed the provisions of roasted grain bread and cheese and set off early the next morning as he journeyed he thought about the stories of Israel's battles and how God had delivered them from their enemies the road to the battlefield was long and dusty but
David's heart was light with anticipation and purpose as David arrived at the battlefield he heard the taunts of Goliath the Philistine Giant Goliath towering over 9 ft tall stood with armor gleaming in the sun he challenged the Israelites to send out a warrior to fight him day after day Goliath mocked the Israelites and their God causing fear among the soldiers David delivered the food to his brothers and inquired about the situation his eldest brother eliab scolded him accused accusing him of neglecting his duties and coming to watch the battle out of curiosity but David was
not deterred he was more concerned with Goliath's Defiance of the Living God David was astonished to see the fear in the eyes of Israel's soldiers who is this Philistine that he should defy the armies of the Living God David asked moving among the soldiers to gather more information his brothers tried to silence him thinking he was too young to understand the danger but David's heart burned with righteous anger at Goliath's blasphemy he couldn't comprehend why no one had stepped forward to defend God's honor news of David's inquiries reached King Saul who sent for him David's
confidence and Faith intrigued the soldiers who were desperate for a solution to their predicament despite their doubts David was determined to confront Goliath he approached King Saul and said let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine your servant will go and fight him Saul looked at the young Shepherd in disbelief David's youthful appearance contrasted sharply with the seasoned Warriors around him Saul saw a boy but David felt the power of God within him Saul was desperate and seeing David's conviction he decided to listen to his story David spoke with a calm assurance that
came from his experiences in the fields where he had faced danger and had seen God's hand at work King Saul doubted David's ability to fight the giant you are not able to go against this Philistine and fight him you are only a young man and he has been a Warrior from his youth Saul said but David insisted recounting his experiences as a Shepherd he explained how he had protected his flock from lions and bears when a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock I went after it struck it and
rescued the sheep from its mouth when it turned on me I seized it by its hair Struck it and killed it the Lord who rescued me from the poor of The Lion and the poor of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine David declared with unwavering Faith seeing d David's unwavering Faith Saul relented and offered his own armor Saul's armor was heavy and made for a man of his stature not for a young Shepherd David tried on the armor but he found it too cumbersome and restrictive he decided to fight Goliath
with what he was familiar with his sling and five smooth stones from the brook David's decision baffled the soldiers but he knew that it was not the weapons that would bring victory but his faith in God as he prepared for battle he prayed asking God to guide his hand and give him strength the soldiers watched in awe as David approached the battlefield with nothing but his sling and Stones David approached Goliath with confidence and Faith the giant laughed when he saw David coming towards him am I a dog that you come at me with sticks
Goliath sneered his voice booming across the valley he cursed David by his gods and promised to feed his flesh to the birds and wild animals but David remained undeterred he looked at Goliath not with fear but with faith in God's power David's courage was not rooted in his own abilities but in his trust in the Lord Almighty the soldiers of Israel held their breath watching the unlikely confrontation unfold before them David proclaimed his faith in God to Goliath you come against me with sword and Spear and Javelin but I come against you in the name
of the Lord Almighty the god of the armies of Israel whom you have defied this day the Lord will deliver you into my hands and I'll strike you down and cut off your head this very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine Army to the birds and the wild animals and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel all those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves for the battle is the Lords and he will give all of you into our
hands David said with conviction as the battle commenced David took a stone from his bag he placed it in his sling and swung it around aiming at Goliath the stone flew through the air with Incredible speed and struck the Giant on his forehead sinking in to his skull Goliath's mocking expression turned to shock and pain as he stumbled and fell face down to the ground the Philistine Army was stunned with a single Stone and his faith in God David had defeated the mighty giant the Israelites shouts of Victory echoed through the valley as they witnessed
