why are we afraid of PRACTICE?🥀reflecting on creativity ( art process clips)🌹

we need to talk about the fear of practice hello my name is Veronica AKA I am an Italian comic book author tarot and Oracle the Creator and yours book art teacher it's me again yours cruly happy Winter solsis and blessed you for those who celebrate this last month of 2024 is really bringing up a lot of things in my life that need closure and I started to reflect on a matter that's quite relevant to pretty much the whole art creative Community our need to practice and our resistance to practicing most of my skills come from

drawing consistently and sometimes I find it really difficult to answer some of your questions for sometimes I don't really know what to say so let's talk about it in the meantime I thought I'd share with you some of the clips from my latest art process so you'll see the making of of day 25 of the challenge I'm currently doing the drawing a day till I reach 100K Challenge on all of my social platforms so if you'd like to see my art and my Sketchbook pages every single day on your feed make sure to check them

out so we need to talk about the fear practice you often ask me how I learned to draw like this how I found my art style you as me if I can explain to you my hashin technique and as much as I do my best to give you an explanation the truth is that I don't really know all the answers cuz most of it is just practice and I understand this answer can feel untrue dishonest egoistic even because I felt that way before what do you mean yeah you practice but how what's the secret it

can be just dead or else anyone could do it there must be a secret I used to ask myself such questions whenever I've been met with the it's just practice answer and I felt so frustrated because they clearly did not want to reveal to us the big secret a secret that does not exist sure we can share some advices and study a few tricks go to art school and that will definitely help but it's not mandatory it can be just that or else anyone could do it and yep that's exactly how it is cuz in

my experience I learned two things number one practice does not make perfect cuz nothing can Perfection is the enemy of passion and therefore is the enemy of any kind of art and number two practice gives you knowledge Theory can give us only that much but without practice we'd never fully understand a good 70% of my Improvement as a visual artist happened in the past couple of years and it happened because I've been drawing like crazy if you've been following me for a while you know back in 2023 I did a challenge that got me into

drawing non-stop every single day for six months this year I challenged myself once again and decided to learn to draw directly pen on paper and now I'm combining these two challenges by drawing everyday pen and paper in my Sketchbook and I'm improving each and every day because I'm learning with every new mistake I make cuz yeah we do not learn through success we learn through mistakes one might assume that what makes me capable of drawing with a pen is that I'm so talented and skilled that I don't need to ever erase because I never make

mistakes while if you'd watch my art processes you'd notice I make plenty of mistakes I just play with them I integrate them in my design Sometimes I cover them up and so the new question is how did you learn to play with your mistakes by making them by practicing and it goes back that sense of frustration that it can be that simple my question is have you tried and I'm not asking you I'm asking myself cuz there are some things in my life life for which I am so impatient that I'm not willing to practice

I'm not willing to try and the great faithful companion of practice is patience we don't want to commit cuz we are afraid it will take forever we're afraid we'll never get there we hope there's a shortcut somewhere but in the meantime instead of moving forward on the long path we stand still hoping that shortcut will appear hoping that someone will come and tell us there it is you just could not see it and the ash truth we are being asked to swallow is no one is coming to the rescue we need to move forward one

of my favorite rart pces I've done in these couple of prolific years is this one right here called AR longa vaita brevis which is a Latin phrase meaning the art is long and life is short I need to keep this in mind we need to start moving now at whatever point in life we are whether we are 15 or 70 please no more waiting it'll take forever if we don't start it'll take a little longer every time we stop to keep going does not mean to rush it's not a Sprint race it's a walk we're

not being asked to run from point A to point B at the speed of a car we're invited to explore floor to pae at times and enjoy the view and then keep going it might get boring at times and it's going to be a long walk but oh the Places will see and the things will Discover Life Is Short indeed but we have time you have no idea how many hours I've spent scrolling on my phone being jealous of other people on social media when I could have made my wonderfully imperfect art how many drawings

remained unborn just because something inside me kept telling me it wasn't worth it it was a waste of time my time was being wasted on those thoughts the minute I gave practice a chance it stopped being practice and just became fun enjoyment for what I was doing and contentment for being able to do it so much but now that fear of practicing has shifted its place in my life and I'm realizing I'm I'm wasting my time being afraid of moving forward once again make the painting sing the song Write the movie cook that meal you

imagined and if it turns out not so great that is great do it again and if then it turns out awesome awesome do it again do it once more keep creating I want to read you a poem now that I think is pretty fitting to this topic this is the artist prayer we are daughters and sons we are children running in the ever moving field of Stillness thoughts and ideas swim through our bare feet and there we can reach all the answers we seek it's paintings worth seeing and voices worth hearing there's meals worth tasting

and feelings worth feeling and once we catch one we run to a parent the great mother goddess Creator omnipresent we hold up our creature and ambly start speaking asking of her mother please can we keep it and in all a glory a mother so strong will always reply to had daughters and sons of course dearest children you're all welcome home you and your creatures Creations unborn just make sure you feed them take care of them all as you make them grow I'll watch over you all let the world see the painting let the world hear

the song Let the world taste the meal and feel feeling so strong and remember my children there's plenty of space here feel free to bring more home without any fear just make sure you feed them take care of them all as you make them grow I'll watch over you all feed them take care of them those are actions that require repetition in time if you stop feeding your beloved pet it'll die if you stop practicing your craft your spark will die and if you never start it'll never come alive in the first place wait but

what if I fail what if what then every single person on this planet is afraid of failure let's just be the exception or at least let's be afraid and do the thing anyway I'd rather be sorry after I tried than live with the dbed of the other what if what if I succeeded what if I drew every day and suddenly one day I could draw like I always dreamed I could we should really start being afraid of the but what if I'd succeed we should replace I should not do that cuz what if I fail

with I must do it cuz what if I succeed art longa VA brevis let's make art there's thousands of books and videos and tutorials out there and I've watched many of them and I've created some of them myself but it's not enough to read a book it's not enough to watch a video we need to practice so let's stop being afraid of practicing cuz practice will not make us perfect but practice gives us knowledge and it's so [Music] fun and that brings us to the end of this video thank you so much for watching ing
