2022 I decided I am worthy of my dream life I am worthy of creating the life I want to live as an artist there are so many people on social media doing what it is that I want to do creating their artwork what is it that they're doing that I'm not doing 2022 was when I decided to lock in and as soon as I shifted my mindset that's when everything changed my journey as an artist started when I was a little girl I was drawn to all things creative fast forward to high school I got
into my first art class when I was a junior and I remember my first assignment was drawing a hand and my art teacher took my assignment and said nope you're going straight to AP art into a College Prep Art course and was literally the worst of my class I went into that class with no experience um as far as being an artist with deep meaning and creating concepts of artwork I was a complete beginner fast forward to college I didn't even know what I wanted to do with my life outside of high school all I
knew was that I love to do art um I took some art classes I remember starting out with like beginner sketching fast forward into painting classes and was painting a bunch of generic stuff that my teachers wanted me to like sketching the building outside I would literally have to sit outside of my classroom for 2 hours and sketch the buildings around me then it moved on to setting up fixtures of like piles of books and statues just painting like what you see and I just remember like hating it I was the rebel of my college
classes because you're not going to tell me what to paint you're not going to tell me how to do it or critique it I create what I want to create period so take it from me art class is not needed to be an artist we live in the times where everything is online now you don't need to pay money to learn but if you are somebody that enjoys the community and just the environment of a classroom then I would recommend go ahead and pay for some art classes if you want to fast forward I finished
College everyone around me is asking me so what do you want to do with your life art isn't a serious job you can't make money from art my mom was telling me this I remember relatives of mine telling me you know you should join the Army or why don't you you know get into like a um a nursing school just the most basic systemized jobs that we are born and programmed to go into and I just thought to myself why would I want to do any of that no offense to anybody out there but if
you're watching this video chances are you are an artist or you love creating things maybe you want to pursue your passion as a business or you're interested in business and that's why I'm creating this video fresh out of college I just started working I needed to pay for my lifestyle and as I was working these jobs I was painting just creating things because I love to create them and naturally I got better and better with every painting in 2019 I decided you know what I'm going to make something of this so I started an Instagram
page with zero followers I had a personal page of just you know selfies going out and having fun and I decided to use that personal page to fuel my art page I started posting my paintings as far as my style and artwork I definitely gravitate towards portraits I painted a lot of celebrities and I was just painting whatever I wanted to that came up in my mind and I started posting them on social media people started reaching out to me I started getting feedback my followers started transitioning from my personal page to my art page
next thing I know my first client ever reached out to me and said hey I would love for you to paint something for me we ended up having a very immature consultation compared to what I would do now for a client long story short I painted him a 24 by8 in canvas and I remember selling that piece for $75 you guys every stepbystep process of the painting I was posting on my story on Instagram and people were loving it I started getting more and more people asking me me to paint portraits for them I started
building a small community on Instagram I started building trust with my followers people were telling other people about me and everyone just started coming to me wanting portraits of themselves portraits of famous people family portraits and I was a beginner it's just crazy to think about because a lot of us hold ourselves back because we think we're not good enough and I I remember Selling paintings for people for like 150 bucks Word of Mouth started being spread to people that have had paintings done by me and they started telling their friends and their relatives they
started sharing their canvases that I painted for them on their stories just natural organic growth I started to realize okay I can do something here I can start a business like this so all of my commissions that I was receiving money from I started to stack and I remember saving $1,000 and creating a business business bank account that I put that $1,000 into to start a business 2019 is when I made it official and said you know what [ __ ] everybody that said I can't do this I'm doing it I'm making money doing what
I love I don't want to hear anybody out there I took that $1,000 and I remember investing in a printer it was a Canon ix6820 PIXMA Printer and I started making my own prints of artwork I made a website on bigcartel.com and I started to list prints available for sale started buying packaging equipment cellophane bags for prints shipping tubes to package things with the same printer that I had I was printing out shipping labels for orders I was purchasing ink setting up a business to make products I was doing all of this in my bedroom
you guys just starting out I did not have the mindset to make this an official business I was not the person that you need to be to run a business I was honestly just having fun painting I started playing around with reals showing my videos of me painting on Instagram and had some successful post go viral and then one day I had a friend on Instagram reach out to me say hey you need to get on Tik Tok um Tik Tok is where it's at I decided to create a Tik Tok account I posted a
video of me painting a portrait of Travis Scott and it blew up overnight half a million views and I had 10,000 subscribers overnight I was mind blown [ __ ] mind blown and I instantly knew I'm doing this I posted my website link in my bio of Tik Tok I started just posting more and more and that's when I started to get sales started to expand my in inventory into stickers and I just remember being just so excited like oh my God I'm doing this like look at me my little art business kept posting kept
painting and growing my communities on each platform I kept finding success with social media growth but I noticed that my business and sale started to Plateau I was getting orders like maybe a few orders a month it was nothing lifechanging right and fast forward to 2022 this is when my life changed I was driving home one day and I had a vision in my mind of a painting I wanted to create I went home sat down painted it and finished this painting in a matter of 6 hours filmed it posted it and created multiple videos
for Content purposes on both platforms and I kept going viral in the midst of me creating this pain pain ing that's when I decided I want to expand my products for my customers I wanted to create something new because print and stickers like ain't it like if I want growth I need to change something that's when I hopped on alibaba.com and I got in touch with a manufacturer overseas that created tapestries I finished my blonde painting and I sent a picture to this person and had them create tapestries for me I had my first batch
of physical products that were already pre-made for me I was getting so much hype for this painting I started building up an excitement for my audience of a product launch I was doing I remember setting a release date for prints and then I started to sneak peek tapestries I was working on I set a launch date for a tapestry and print drop and completely sold out of my inventory the day of launch and I had my first $1,000 day and that's when I realized okay I need need to keep growing I had to shift my
mindset to run a business and take this serious and as soon as I did that you guys that's when the success started coming in I started structuring my time to do product research planning out my projects planning launches every month I literally took so much time to study social media people that were doing exactly what I was doing after that blonde painting I did a portrait of juice World which is this painting behind me and by this time I already knew the ropes I started to learn how to go viral and it became easy I
planned another launch I wanted to do with this painting I invested in tapestries prints I did stickers and I also made t-shirts I used procreate to take my artwork and design t-shirts digitally sent them to a manufacturer overseas and had t-shirts made and shipped to my house when I did this you guys people loved it people went crazy I started packaging orders daily I was having ,000 days $1,000 weeks having consistent months of making thousands of dollars for figure months for the first two months after juice world I did a MC Miller painting made $10,000
on launch day the first 4 minutes I made $5,000 because I made this mind shift because I decided to go all in on this business and learn how to operate the business eventually growing into 10K months being the person that I am now and the things that I have achieved today I want to give back and that is why I'm creating this video the purpose of this video is to break down exactly how I did it what I did briefly I'm going to talk about why I was successful what you need to do to become
successful I understand that I am a portrait artist so I will be generalizing in this information so that way any artist can take this information and apply it first we're going to be breaking down this success what led to it how the success came and what steps are absolutely needed to take your passion and make it into a business first and foremost what made me successful was the mindset shift I had to change who I was to become the person to receive that success remember when I told you guys I was in that stagnant period
I had to become analytical and observe what my followers liked and what they didn't like I had to become aware of what type of products I was creating the purpose of those products and what problems they solve for example the products that I created these products are passion products why do I say passion products is because I was painting portraits of celebrities that people loved juice world had has his own fan base Frank Ocean has his own fan base of millions of people people that are passionate about them um I created products that people wanted
to have for fun um products that pleased them that didn't necessarily solve a problem the beauty in being a portrait artist is I didn't have to go out and search for people that loved my artwork I went out and searched for the people that were already cultivated together and just targeted them it doesn't matter who you paint you just have to become aware of the products you're selling become aware of your target audience that's the key the age group The demographics of who you're going after who is it that wants to buy your products study
them what is their life like um what age group are they in what kind of jobs do they have how much money do they make and start to create for that specific person what really cracked my success is when I began to EXP expand my products when I changed my inventory when I started to create more products for my customers when I started listening to my customers reviewing comments that I was receiving getting feedback building that relationship with my audience and honestly your audience will tell you what they want listening to your audience is so
valuable and it's also going to help you build more trust and just build your platform and Community overall go on the internet and start to learn like type in what kind of products can I create with my artwork like there's so many unlimited possibilities we have so many resources now the world is in your hands you just have to learn how to turn on your brain and use your entrepreneurial muscles and get creative with your artwork one of the biggest things that helped me throughout my journey as an artist and finding success was cracking the
code of the algorithm of Tik Tok and Instagram when you start to be consistent in posting and learning how to become a content creator if you're an artist you are also a content creator so when you're taking the time to learn how the app works how to you know find your aesthetic when it comes to filming your artwork learning what your audience likes and doesn't like studying what goes viral and what doesn't go viral you start to understand how the app works what Tik Tok likes what Tik Tok pushes out to certain people and what
they don't push out being consistent you will learn what it takes to go viral I want to make a video on how to go viral it would be packed with so much information I would not be able to just shove it all into this video but focusing on two platforms at a time and giving it your all instead of just hopping on every app you will find more success in doing that okay now I want to talk about the real [ __ ] and what it actually takes to make your passion into a business instead
of working a 9 to5 a corporate job you're trading that to work 24 7 you are going to be working in your business 24/7 every single day whatever your goal is you want 100K subscribers on YouTube or Tik Tok whatever you will be doing everything alone in the beginning social media marketing creating painting doing the product advertising um researching products to make doing consultations with people people to create your products building trust building Community all of that is done by you in the beginning this is the way it is and you have to ask yourself
is this what I want to do do I want to have a team in the future just understand that it could be years your time will be fully dedicated to your business if you want your passion to stay your passion then maybe you should not treat it as a business it sounds fine and dandy right sounds like a dream to have a business that you're is solely based off of your passions but then when you start to have to treat it like a job every single day all day 24/7 you can slowly start to hate
it you don't have to be an artist just throughout your journey of trying to create a business of any kind you will be emotionally and mentally challenged through it all it takes a burning desire and a strong why behind your efforts in pursuing what you want to do that way when you are challenged by temporary defeat temporary failures that burning desire inside of you is strong enough to keep you going the reasons behind why you're doing what you're doing have to be strong enough to push you through all of the NOS you will receive and
that is so difficult for some people and it takes a lot of strength to want to continue when you feel like a failure you also need to realize that not everyone is going to love what you create spend like $ $2,000 on a product launch that you love and on launch day you only get 10 sales not everybody's going to want to buy what you create and that's part of the process and if somebody ever says that your products are too overpriced or they can't afford it what they're really really saying is this product isn't
important enough for me to figure it out the number one thing and the name of the game to starting a business from your passion or just in general is to know yourself to become hyper aware of yourself how you operate and what I mean by that is I can give you the steps to run a art business but you have to become the person person to be able to take that information and actually create the 10K per month business because you can tell someone what to do and they still won't do it because they're not
who they need to be to take that information and run with it you need to understand what it takes as a person maybe there's nobody in your family at all that has done anything like this you need to invest in yourself your mental health your spirituality you need to become educated reading books studying information learning from people meeting new people finding people on the internet that is in a place that you want to be in with your art or your business it takes content creation skills commitment Financial education it takes communication skills learn about advertising
marketing um social media management to develop these skills and become the person you need to be I'm sorry you guys the lighting in my house keeps changing okay last I want to give you guys some tips and advice um if you want to start a business maybe you're an artist and you're you haven't posted on social media yet maybe you are currently running and operating an art business first the quickest way to grow your social media accounts is by giving away it could be free product it could be free um I don't know consultations advice
whatever you want to give in exchange for followers fastest way to grow is always going to be a giveaway besides going viral through content creation tip number two what do you want what is it that you're working towards like I want you to exactly tell me what it is that you desire what is your end goal what are you doing all this effort for you need to know exactly what you want whether it's I want to make $5,000 a month or I want to replace my 9-to-5 job with my business if you're someone that's just
floating on by floating through life like oh I'm selling stickers and prints and doing popup shops like no you want results you need to go all in and take this serious as a business period tip number three is a lot of us get stuck in our day-to-day life and we get used to what is around us in our environment every single day we forget how to use our entrepreneurial mind we forget how to problem solve how to be creative so you need to practice exercises experiencing things that will basically get you to turn on your
entrepreneurial Minds remember how I said that you need to work on yourself to become the person you want to be to run the business you need to get rid of any limiting beliefs that you may have as a person or any programs that you've developed throughout your life experience so one exercise that um my parents actually taught me and it's so much fun when you're doing it with a group of friends or maybe um people that you Mastermind with or that are also interested in the same things as you asking yourselves this question if I
had $100,000 right now what would I do with it and each of you take turns and just have fun there's no limitations there's no right or wrong answer just allowing yourself to speak freely another fun exercise is the same thing but instead you're basically talking about what it is that you want to do like what is a dream of yours I want to own a mansion in Dubai I want to go snorkeling with sharks like I want to um open up an art museum that's for local artists to Showcase their work like literally just anything
and you're turning on your brain and the most powerful thing is that you're expanding your imagination which is your entrepreneurial mind next I'm going to talk about the three personalities that are within each and every one of us as business owners and as people does doesn't matter what field you're in within you there is the entrepreneur the technician and the manager if you want to be a successful business owner you need to become aware of all three how you fit into each role and how to use them to your advantage being an artist if you're
watching this video you spend a lot of time in technician mode and partially entrepreneurial mode the technician is the person that loves to sit and do what they love they don't want to be told what to do they don't want to be told how to do it all they crave to do is the actual craft so being an artist you want to just paint you want to you know create your um jewelry you want to do whatever it is that you love to do because you love to do it your brain turns off you want
to be left alone besides the technician there's the manager the manager is the one that comes in and has to manage the technician and manages the order in which things get done the times in which things get done which frustrates the technician you have to learn how to function within both roles as well as the entrepreneur the entrepreneur is the personality with no limitations ready to risk it all Limitless ideas and just has so much fun that frustrates the manager and the technician because the entrepreneur goes running the manager goes chasing and the technician goes
running like all three of these personalities you have to become aware of and you have to learn how to master them if you want more information um on these personalities I actually learned this information from a book I read let me go find it matter of fact because it's a book that every business owner should read so this is the book I'm talking about it's called why most small businesses don't work and what to do about it um the author's name is Michael E Gerber um shout out to my dad for giving me this book
this is an incredible incredible book I think I mentioned this tip already but finding companies competitors and people that are doing exactly what it is that you want to do and study them how are they operating go look at their websites look at the content that they make um what kind of viral post do they create how do they function how do they work like study them and don't copy them but just learn from them okay next what sets you apart from everyone else like what makes me want to buy from you like what why
do you why you instead of the next person the next artist like what makes you different what makes you special what is it about your craft your Technique your artistic style that makes you stand out I highly recommend highly recommend experimenting that is what made me stand out as an artist and made me find my style for example this Travis Scott painting was the first painting of mine that went viral because I experimented with my style I started playing around with drip paint or acrylic paint pores what they call it I decided to combine these
two styles on this painting which was so risky for me because I was worried I was going to mess up the painting but in reality it went viral people loved it like people were amazed had never seen anything like that before all because I took a chance on myself and that's what I want you guys to do the very last tip that I want to give you guys is to lead with an open heart what do I mean by that lead and guide and grow your community with authenticity and just be genuine I promise that
being genuine will literally just bear so much fruit for you people love realness they love to see the process of things people love to see that you are a regular person just like them people crave human connection you're going to get a lot of haters you're going to get a lot of people that don't like what you do you're going to get a lot of feedback from people that truly don't give a [ __ ] that don't even think before they comment stay with an open heart and I promise that it will return back to
you everything will just come back to you in your favor just trust me on this that is all I have for you guys today I'm sorry if this video I hope it's not too long but I just wanted to provide value I really hope you guys enjoyed it um if there's anything I can do for you if there's in any way I can support you on your journey please comment below you can um send me a m message on Instagram or Tik Tok it's been a while since I've been on this platform but I really
hope you guys enjoy this video um let me know if there's anything else I can do for you I hope you're having an amazing day thank you so much for [Music] watching for [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music]
