[Music] hey all ifs I'm going to explain one of the basic features of PWM in what we promise to be an easy and understandable way enjoy this video of our series understand sa PWM to understand one of the basics concepts and features of sa PWM so we are in the series understand sa PWM that means we explain the basics so for the more experienced among you it might be not that helpful but even more for the less experienced ones and I also think that everybody who is a bit more experienced can learn and in the
sense that you learn concepts for how to explain it to somebody else for example your business team of course they do not have that deep insights into ewm so I think it's helpful also for you feel free to use this video to explain it to your colleagues and what we do today is the whereas other creation rules and one of the core features of sa fie EWN something that you need in every warehouse and the video is separated into an introduction part where we look at the preparation before when I was orders for we're sort
of creation rules and the the middle part of the video is the core features of the West Allah created rules and the closure was the creation of the warehouse orders and finally I will be fewer good over you and a summary at the very end let us start with the introduction and as you know is all of my videos of the serious understand ewm we look at the easy comparison from real life and this time I took a funnel at the filling filling system so you see that here something is put into the funnel and
here at this end something is coming out of the funnel and if we take our context we have winners task this yellow bubbles here flowing into the funnel and on the other side of the funny of whales all us so that's basically packages of winners tasks and this conversion or this creation of us orders that's happening for example doing wave release but it also happens if you create whales tasks in a different context like for example simply against one audio for instance yeah our fauna so in between this filling system we have our funnel and
that's the wells or the creation world yeah that's a very simple comparison but I think it explains the basic concept pretty good so for now just imagine we have one we're select creation rule and we have an input and we have an output as part of the preparation it is important to understand that we have such system for every combination of activity area and queue now that means it is never possible to have where else tasks from different activity areas and different queues in the same way as order now you mentioned that you have one
filling line for activity area a and QX and another one for the same activity area but different queue and also another one for a different activity area but thank you now that means we never have the same where else all mixing up whereas tasks from having different characteristics over here and the activity area in this context is either the sauce or the destination activity area and that is being determined based on the Wales process type that we use for the worst task creation and here you have one parameter and this is basically saying whether we
use the sauce as a destination and the cue I think that obvious everywhere else task seq and that's another separation criteria yeah so let us get back to our initial filling machine and we know now when this is happening and we know that we have the separation between activity area and queue and now we look at the at the core part yeah so what we did so far I would summarize again this has been the preparations of the steps before and at the beginning of the Wales Audit creation and what we saw have to know
the task creation the grouping lactovegetarian queue and then we picked one way auto creation rule that was all fun yeah for now let us just assume there is only one yeah this is at the beginning of our funnel and you see this as a part of our picture so we are here at step one now the last thing that we do here and at the beginning at least logically is the sorting so we sought all the Wales task and before we tried to create various orders and this sorting has direct impact on the decision which
vast task would later be in one way or solar all right technically I put a note here technically this is happening after the item filters we will come to the item filters in the next step but logically it to understand if we say no okay we saw it at the beginning of the best auto creation yeah we saw the task now you will later understand the impact of this sorting and so here we have our task and we bring them in a sequence for example based on the on the weight or based on the picking
sequence based on the quantity whatever based on your context one or the other might be useful and now we already come to the core of the wheels on a creation and that was this [Music] bullet number two so we on the middle of our fauna and the first thing we do is we apply item so test that means specific items here in this context when I was tasks are being filtered out if they do not meet specific criteria for example minimum maximum weight for example a specific growth process time I only want to create whereas
orders was a specific growth process type was a specific route etc yeah you can check the different options since customizing and what we do here basically is deciding should whereas task be further processed or should be sorted out and not considered for the whales order that we are creating right now and pretty easy next thing is a little bit more complex it's called subtotal filter and it's the same thing it was the difference if we take a group of tasks and the group of tasks is defined by the consolidation group as a group from the
delivery item so we take all tasks for a given group and then apply the filter criteria so for example take the total weight of all those tasks for a given group and then check against the minimum and maximum and if for example the maximum weight is exceeded we take the whole group and sort it out yeah like this this is all tasks from one consolidation group sorted out if we do not need one the filter criteria yeah and all the groups which okay they part I'll pass this next step next thing is the limit and
limit is straightforward to understand here we have now I talked about minimum maximum weight on the West task level before and as a filter now we are talking about a limit on the level of the wells order so the way US order such as in this screenshot here for example is not allowed to have more than 25 kilogram and then we add one task after the other and then the first task for example is 5 kilograms the next 110 the next one 5 then we have a total of 20 and then the next task is
coming with a weight of 6 which would be a total of 26 and this is not loud yeah we reach the limit we exceeded the limit and then this task is being sorted out and here you see that the inbound sorting has a direct impact on which task later being put together and one worse order and because here we just add them up based on the in one sequence and then check with each task whether we have reached one of our limits and here also other limits like the minimum maximum whereas tasks for each hu
we've come to the HQ creation in the next step I think that's also pretty easy to understand now proceed saudade taking profile I already mentioned and and what we can do here is to create picket shoes yeah so we are planning basically which way our task will later be picked into one HU and there's a pretty simple algorithm where we just take a condition record and provide the packaging material and ewm we just assign the task to the packaging material up unto one of the capacity constraints of the packaging material is reached like the maximum
volume of weight and we can we can also select complex packaging modes or implement parties here for sophisticated kinds of case calculation and here it's also possible to sort again so we did this inbound sorting at the very beginning and there might be a need for an additional sorting here which is different from the inbound sorting if you build your issues based on specific dimension or volume of the products it might be reasonable to sort in a different point yet for example if 14-month sorting the way it is not a factor at all but for
the tech packing profile you want for any reason you want all the heavy product in one pick edge you and the light product in another one so then doing in mode you might want to sort by the pig pass and here for the packing profile you sort by the weight to avoid that the heavy products are trashing the light ones for example and so in this step what you should take away from here is that we have the option to create eight use already during rails or a creation and also assign the task to the
edge use yeah and if you would then confirm such look at such a way of saw relate on your system you see here in this tab now this is the UI for the way a solar you see that there is hu already planned and the HU itself is not created technically you see that you view this year empty this is also you know an option and the taking profile but we have planned and edged you with a given packaging material already good that it was a core part so we come to the closure of the
Wales order and the Wales order creation and here we basically have one step from my perspective and also this this preparation core closure that's not an official wording and this is just what I saw it would be a reasonable separation and easy for you to understand and from my perspective the only thing that we do in the closure is again a final sorting so we can at this point sort the tasks which are already assigned to one way our order and that's the important difference to the sorting that we had before where we are basically
doing the sorting ahead of the assignment to one way us order and now we already have our way us orders and we saw the task was in these whales orders and that means here we have a direct impact on how the picker will travel later yeah so this is most reasonable to be used for the travel path therefore the optimal sequence that the operator should I walk through the warehouse now so here to make it visible we have our blue bubbles with tasks and we define a sequence in which they are being processed yeah finally
and most of you probably had this question in mind all the time already and you were wondering why I did not explain this at the very beginning I thought it is easier to understand at the end and the open question is what happens was the task that we could not process so far now you remember that for most of the features in the core part of the way our you we always said this blue arrows here yeah we're the task have been sorted filtered out very rich limit and they they just dropped here somewhere yeah
and the answer to this questions yeah what happens with this task is the fact that we we see it again the starting out it's the fact that we do not have only one filling line in one funnel but in in in fact we have another funnel right after the first one yeah so if we sought out for the first one we have another funnel waiting right away and trying to process a task in this funnel will have different a different rule set in the koi are different limits and different filters and so on and can
be completely different and at the end you can have hundreds of different funnels sequenced one after the other and the rules can be different than that at the very end all those tasks which have been sorted out here they should be assigned to the next one or the next one and at some point they end up in one warehouse order now coming out here later even if none of you else other creation rules working out and they are filtering and sorting out at the very very end now you don't see that one in customizing at
the very end there's one default rule which is applied by each a VM standard yeah that's when you create where I thought on you see this rule as DF that the default rule that the standard applies at the very end if nothing else matches and I think that's just a 1 whereas order 1 task assignment rule very simple one just to make sure that you get at least any kind of where else order and so this is basically what you find here and customizing where you define a set sequence sequence for creation rules and again
based on the activity area and I explained you at the very beginning this is either the sauce also just nation this is set and the whales process type and you see here the sequence number is important so yeah number one this might be our first funnel if we miss to create order here we go to number two as was that the next rule here that the second phone and so on now you can create hundreds of rules yeah so here for for the first one you you might want to create rules for specific route and
for this route you have let's say a carrier like a parcel service for UPS for instance and for this route you are using small hu types you know you you create only for small cartons yeah so the first first order creation is a packing probe as a as a filter with your route for the parts of Korea and there's a pecking profile for small cartons and then you filter for example based on the volume of the weight and because the carrier does not allow to carry high heavy weight or high volume and then for those
items and you apply another for the heavy and high volume items for different route you apply another rule at the very end where you do not use a small count and it's a packing material for the taking profile but rather a full pallet or half desert for instance and it's just one example no yeah so we are already done we had two summary and what I would like to give you is an overview about all steps again and you see on the left side one up to four is the preparation task creation grouping by activity
area and queue and then the selection of one way also a creation and then we have what I call it before the core part this is 5 up to 9 so filters item on conservation group level then the limits here and the actual creation of the packing profile roots and then our closure number 10 sorting again and last but not least you also get the assignment to the respective customizing items so if you want to check later again for the details in your system you should find a lot of information here and the integrated help
for the specific items and if you open the notes you will find some more details and then understand the whole thing a little bit more in detail yeah that should be it for this video I hope again that on the one hand the beginners and newbies could learn something I would really appreciate if you drop a comment if you have something that you think I could improve that or if you just tell me that it was helpful for you that's also a feedback that I would really appreciate in this context of course also if you
give me a like for this video that motivates me to proceed to create more videos and for the more advanced users concerns developers can also tell you that I'm working on a video where I'm explaining the options to enhance the way I select creation rules so that would be a little bit more interesting for you and this video will probably be published during the next months so you can look forward to this and up till then I wish you happy coding happy consulting and see you next time bye [Music]
