what's the easiest way to study for 12 hours a day while staying focused I spent years trying to figure that out so you don't have to in this video I'll teach you exactly that how to make studying for long hours with Focus simple effective and most importantly sustainable in the long term and I'll do this by teaching you a powerful concept I call the outcome formula using the outcome formula is what allowed me to do 12 hours 15 hour even 20 hour study days back back to back for months at a time without burning out
now I'm not saying you should study all day every day I don't recommend that but sometimes honestly we just don't have a choice and that is where the outcome formula comes in so let's start by understanding what the outcome formula is and why it works the outcome formula tells us which factors we need to think about and get right to safely and confidently achieve dream outcome so let's say that you want to get a great exam score that's the dream outcome we're aiming for now if there's a difficult goal to achieve then we probably will
need to work very hard to achieve it so to achieve this dream outcome you might feel like you need to study a lot so we'll start off by increasing the amount of time that we spend studying we do longer study sessions and we rearrange our schedule to see if we can squeeze in any extra time that we can fit in for even more more studying but what actually happens once we have managed 12 hours a day of studying do we now achieve all of our goals and live happily ever after for most people the answer
is still no millions of people study just as much and most of them still do not achieve their dream outcome so there's clearly more to success than just studying as many hours as humanly possible there's a missing piece to this puzzle and that missing piece is focus after trying to study for 12 hours a day non-stop you might realize that you're falling asleep and getting distracted after the first hour so naturally we also need to think about how focused we are in that time in other words not only do we need quantity but we also
need quality with our study sessions so what do we do now well at this point it seems clear that since we have successfully achieved studying more hours but we're now losing focus we need to work on increasing our focus and if you search this up on YouTube you will find a bunch of techniques and tips out there to increase your focus techniques like work rest timing with Pomodoro and Fodor and what to do during your break and how to manage distractions and all of those things do help but here's the thing there's still a major
problem we have yet to address and the problem is the fact that we're actually still missing another piece of the outcome formula and it's this missing piece that can make make people spend hours and hours a day studying all day they're doing as much as they can to stay focused they're using all the right Focus techniques but they're still not getting the results that they want and it feels like it's getting harder and harder to study so much and stay focused in other words they're getting burnt out and for me it took me many years
of getting burnt out to realize this missing piece and the missing piece is to realize that quality isn't just about Focus it's also about impact and when we add impact to the formula it completely changes the game because adding impact not only helps us to achieve a better quality but it also helps us to increase our quantity and study four more hours in a day and it makes this process much easier and more productive now you may be wondering what impact actually means in the context of the outcome formula impact refers to how effective your
methods actually are at helping you to achieve your dream outcome and for studying and learning the processes and techniques you use like how you read a textbook or how you listen during a lecture or how you write your notes all of these different techniques and processes have different levels of impact and understanding the difference between these different levels of impact is one of the Hallmarks of a a top 1% learner let's understand some of these differences ourselves using a high impact method allows us to achieve the level of knowledge that we need and to store
it in our memory more effectively if you use a high impact method for 12 hours a day you finish the day much more confident and much more prepared than at the beginning of the day you know more you have stored it strongly in your memory and you can use that knowledge accurately on the other hand and a low impact method is the opposite when we use a low impact method it doesn't help us understand the material that we're learning very deeply and it makes our memory very poor we don't hold on to that information very
strongly spending 12 hours a day covering a bunch of stuff using a low impact method probably makes you feel worse and more anxious than when you started you've technically covered a bunch of stuff but you feel it slipping out of your memory by the hour and you certainly don't feel confident to be tested on it despite having spent the entire day studying it now I will later in the video actually show you how you can tell a high impact method from a low impact method and that's going to be gamechanging but for now what I'll
tell you is that a higher impact method tends to also be more complex and more Uncommon for me personally I didn't have anyone guiding me through this so it took around 6 years of experimenting and reading re research to figure out that even the concept of a high impact or a low impact method existed and then to actually develop my high impact method now with the videos I release most of the stuff I talk about is high impact so by watching my videos you should be able to optimize your methods month after month but if
you want to do it even faster than that I also have a free newsletter you can sign up to and the newsletter covers almost exclusively either high impact methods or the prerequisites you need to unlock to learn more high impact methods it takes about 3 to 5 minutes to read every week and it should cut down the amount of time that you need to spend to build a high impact system Honestly by like hundreds of hours again it's totally free so if you want to sign up I'll leave a link in the description for you
and if you're still not convinced that learning a high impact method should be a high priority for you I'm about to change that because impact actually has another effect one that most people don't know about the reason it's crucial to understand impact if you want to study for long hours while staying focused is because the level of impact also affects your level of focus Recent research has actually shown that low impact methods actually reduce your concentration and make it easier for you to get distracted in the first place in other words High impact methods increase
your focus low impact methods decrease your focus and this changes everything because now impact is the most important part of the outcome formula when we increase the impact of the method that we use not only does it directly improve the quality it also makes it easier to study for long hours and to do that with higher focus on the other hand it also means that low impact methods aren't just ineffective they're actually harmful if you use a low impact method for hours and hours a day not only is it reducing your quality of knowledge giving
you a superficial Mastery and a poor memory and worsening anxiety it also drains your focus and wastes additional time which forces you to spend even more time studying which actually drains even more focused it's trapping us in a vicious negative spiral as the quantity of our studying goes up our quality of studying actually goes down which means more time and effort for no real change in result and this is exactly how I felt during my first year of medical school I was studying so hard and trying so hard to keep up with my peers but
I had classmates who were like laughing and having fun while they were studying and they made it look so effortless and they were doing better than me and that's when I realized that the way that I was approaching things must be wrong so if you resonate with that then here's how I turned things around which made focusing and studying for long hours a day much easier the trick is to start with impact so instead of trying to achieve our Dream outcome by just studying more in other words putting in more quantity and then trying to
improve our quality we're going to do this in Reverse we're actually going to start with quality specifically we're going to start by maximizing our impact we want to remove the low impact methods that you're using and then gradually replace them with higher impact ones then we figure out how much time we need to use those high impact methods and that actually determines the quantity of stud that we need to do it's not here's how much I want to study and let's see what I can do it's here's the method I need to use how long
is it going to take me to use that method and remember when we use a high impact method we don't need to take as many breaks and we don't need to like Pomodoro Timer our way through every hour of work it becomes naturally easier to focus for long periods of time and that's because we've actually removed this source of poor focus in the first place which was the low impact method and so instead of a negative spiral it's a positive spiral where you spend some effort and energy and focus to perform this higher impact method
but it actually returns some of that Focus back to you and then if we find that we still need sort of topups in our Focus then we can take a few little breaks here and there and use those Focus strategies uh and tips and it's easy it's just a top up now a lot of students I work with think that their methods are already high impact when they're certainly not so how do we actually tell what a high impact method is versus a low impact one well fortunately our brain actually tells us in a way
some researchers suggest that our brain is actually hardwired to enjoy high impact methods more so we can actually tell when we're using a higher impact method because it actually feels more engaging and it involves lots of back and forth thinking as we're trying to solve problems and figure things out and answer the questions that pop up in our head and it also often requires more effort to correctly perform like I mentioned high impact methods tend to be more mentally complex and so it requires more active focus and energy to perform but remember it also returns
s and generates more Focus for us FYI the higher order learning strategies which I teach all the time tick all of these boxes on the other hand when we use a low impact method we can tell because it feels tedious and boring and it makes us feel drowsy it often involves very monotonous and repetitive thinking and it requires very little effort to perform so think back to when you fell asleep reading a textbook or when you felt drowsy after doing your 200th flash card for the day but here's the thing right why would anyone use
a low impact method if they're so bad in the first place the answer is that it's because low impact methods are much easier it's much easier to stick with a low impact method that you're comfortable with and just do more of it more quantity than to make the switch to a high impact method however taking the time to learn a high impact method is the solution to make studying feel less boring and more effective and allow you to do more effective studying in a single day so next time you study you can actually ask yourself
which of these boxes do I take when I'm studying and by checking how your method feels and the type of thinking it involves and the amount of effort it requires you can tell whether you're using a low impact or high impact method but wait there's more because the real reward from switching from a low impact to a high impact method is not in being able to study with Focus for 12 hours a day the real reward is that eventually you get so much value out of every hour you do spend studying that you'll either study
for just a few hours and get the same results as before or even better which means more free time which means maybe you will finally get the amount of sleep you need or if you do choose to study those long hours you'll be able to do even better and that's how you really get ahead so regardless of how much you want to study focusing on the outcome formula and in particular maximizing your impact is a win-win situation and if you want to learn about some of the high impact methods that I think are the most
useful then don't forget to sign up to my free Weekly Newsletter with the link in the description I hope this helps thank you so much for watching and I'll see you next time
