I ran a six-month YouTube shorts experiment across four new channels that ended for some in demonetization and deletion and others in passive profits for months to come in this video I'll be revealing my niches that have won and lost how many millions of views they've gained and most importantly the two main factors in achieving a viral short this video isn't about my story selling you a course or even getting you to subscribe although you should if you want to stay updated on the future of these channels this video is about giving you the details of
the Channel Journeys their individual results and what you can take away and apply to your own YouTube channel trust me this video contains information that would have saved me months of work if I knew it from the start so we're going to be discussing three main points in this video first the birth of the channels second the results and finally we will discuss the key Concepts behind creating a viral video that will rake in millions of views by the way I could have made this a 5-minute video and just giving you fluff and told you
to buy a course for more but I decided to be as thorough as possible and give you the real valuable insights that could change the trajectory of your channel forever so I know this is a bit of a longer video but stick around cuz it will be worth it maybe turn it on one and a/ half time speed to help out okay back to the program let's rewind the clock to the birth of the first channel which originally was made as a joke after acquiring a monetized channel I sat on it for quite a few
months as my friend and I were in the middle of selling our content agency comment below if you want to learn more about how I got this channel monetized from the start but anyway as our other tasks dwindled down I decided decided to post a YouTube short on the channel just as a joke trust me this video was absolutely ridiculous however after stepping away for a couple hours I returned to my analytics to see that the video had gotten over 2,000 views wow I was shocked for those of you who have done YouTube shorts before
you know that this is normal but thank the Lord for me being a noob because this initial success is what kept me going after all if a stupid video I made in 15 minutes could get thousands of views what else could I accomplish after this initial success I began posting daily sometimes even multiple times per day and after 1 month I did it I had my first short gain over a million views and this sparked in me a desire to test and try more which resulted in me acquiring three more channels here's the overview and
the initial strategy I had I had four channels and four different niches political news and opinions fantasy movies interesting facts and stories and then lastly a channel to test New Concepts the last one didn't go so well but we'll get there in a minute you might be thinking how did you run four channels all at one time as a complete YouTube beginner well before we dive into results let me briefly describe the systems and processes that I had in place for each of these first my political Channel became automated as it was something I don't
really have a passion for I just know that there are views to be had in that Niche so each week I wrote four scripts created voiceovers and Shi them off to an Editor to make basic edits that I needed for the channel for the fantasy Channel this is something I was more interested in so I took the time to post three times per week and as we get into the results I will describe the effect that timing has had on the shorts performance anyway after writing scripts and crafting voiceovers I actually took the time to
edit these videos myself now just a little background I have never edited videos before and still to this day I only use cap cut premium for editing but don't judge because these edits quickly surpassed my political Channel which was being edited by a quote unquote professional next I had my interesting facts and stories Channel I would simply research things that I thought were interesting write a 60-second script for it and again edit the videos myself I tried to keep these to three times a week as well but this proved to be difficult to manage and
you'll see the results which is up next that this channel has sat dormant for quite a while for a very specific reason lastly we have the testing Channel that I used to try out new Concepts which ultimately resulted in it getting demonetized and even before losing monetization the videos that I posted got no views but why well let's take a look at the results starting with this failed Channel while I was running these channels I kept trying to think of how to better optimize the output of the videos after all a million YouTube gurus tell
you to just let AI do the work for you so I had to try it out I use chat GP to write the scripts and mid-journey art for the videos and this way I could pump out dozens of videos I chose ancient history as a niche and was going to write about old Greek mythology and stuff like that by the way if you want a video all about how I choose successful niches comment below but anyway every video I posted got nothing no Impressions no views no nothing but why well I frustratingly tried to repost
the videos by fixing captions cutting Parts out and eventually it led to the YouTube algorithm demonetizing me for repetitive content and this brings me to lesson one of of what you can take away from this video always stay as original and creative as possible over the tens of millions of views that I've generated and based on other channels I've studied the only successful people out there create something original this doesn't mean that you can never go into a niche someone's already in but it does mean that you need to respect the viewer people aren't stupid
and as short form content gets more popular your audience is getting wiser they're becoming more picky with how they swipe so make sure that you are being original and creating something captivating that will draw people in speaking of captivating let's reveal what those stats look like for the other three channels first we have my original Channel which I will hide the name of because I still post on this to this day over 24 million views and Counting since I first started posting but let's address the elephant in the room right after November of 2023 there's
a drop in views but why well at this point I have posted over 300 shorts to the channel so saturation and lack of new ideas is a big reason but also as I am involved in politics the views only go as high as the current popularity of whatever I'm discussing you know what happen September through November of last year Donald Trump was going through a whirlwind of court cases he still is but it's kind of old news at this point which is why I'm pivoting this channel to be more long form content so let's hope
that takes off as my cpms are nearly $20 in that space it helps to have a 65-year-old American audience but all in all this channel has been a great success and some of the original successful shorts still generate thousands of views for me every single day let's move on to the third Channel and save the second channel for last as it's the most amazing out of all of them this channel is actually the channel you're watching right now I rebranded it but before I did I posted over 80 videos originally it was an internet celebrity
Channel where I discussed YouTubers streamers and other notable people but that is extremely saturated and so I pivoted quickly that's when I became an interesting facts Channel which had mild success on the videos you see I've nailed down three main things that you need for a viral video and I have found out all of the testing phases that YouTube puts you through which I will reveal at the end of this video and might be the most important thing that I've learned throughout this experiment but here's the issue with this channel every video I posted only
only got 10 to 30,000 views which is great for most people but I wanted millions and I know exactly why the videos plateaued at the points that they did ultimately between my other two channels I've got my hands full so instead of pumping out shorts I'm switching this channel to be about this Grand experiment so that you all can learn from my mistakes and my successes and speaking of mistakes here's the main one I made with this channel it has no Central Focus I posted about bees Bears cities flooded with beer famous historical figures and
more write this down in order to have a successful ch Channel you must hone in on one specific audience if you don't you won't find long-term success YouTube bases their shorts promotion throughout the testing phases on your audience if you prove to have no specific audience it makes it nearly impossible for YouTube to continue to push you to more people so I have saved the best for last and this is my favorite Channel not just because I'm the most interested in the topic but because it has the most future potential for growth let's briefly rewind
to when it was created it was October of 2023 and I was pumping out political shorts that I had no interest in so so I decided to test out a theory of quality over quantity so instead of daily posting with basic edits I decided to just create a handful of shorts edited to the highest quality at least the highest quality that my own two hands could achieve so I began creating videos and set them to be published over the course of a week and the results were shocking you know how I told you earlier that
the key to success is originality in Creative quality well this proved it the first three videos I uploaded immediately got anywhere from 30 to 50,000 views keep in mind they were the first uploads on the channel so I kept going after 3 weeks of posting I started to get discouraged because each video I posted seemed to pass a certain level of YouTube testing but didn't break through until one day one of my first videos blew up nearly 30 days after posting the third short I ever posted on the channel started getting hundreds of thousands of
views and now even to this day it generates tens of thousands of views every single day but even with this success I was desperate to find out why this had happened and then it clicked what I learned was so valuable that has helped me to recreate that initial succcess time and time again so let's dive into the final chapter of this video which describes exactly what you need to know to achieve virality with YouTube shorts there are two key statistics that play into your short going viral and four major phases of testing that occur when
you post a video and even though they seem simple there are major nuances to each key point that keep the 99% from succeeding I'm going to reveal to you what the two most important keys to your short success are and then I'm going to go over how you can predict the success of your short within just one day so don't don't go away after these two things because they don't matter unless you thoroughly understand YouTube's rigorous testing and can use the data to your advantage the two most important keys to success with shorts are vbsa
and avd no I am not speaking gibberish vbsa means viewed versus swiped away and it is YouTube's way of calculating your clickthrough rate or your CTR most long form videos either succeed or flop because of their CTR meaning however many people clicked on their video but since most of the time people don't click on a YouTube short they swipe to it YouTube measures the same user interaction by bvsa if someone watches your video longer than 3 to 5 seconds it's considered a view if they swipe Away YouTube believes your shorts hook wasn't quality enough to
keep the user from swiping then we have avd which is average view duration again its corresponding long form statistic is retention which you've probably heard Mr B shout about before but because shorts loop after a viewer has completed the video YouTube measures this in averages for example let's say three people watch your 60c short the first person watches 30 seconds the second person watches 60 and the third person Loops through and watches the video 1 and 1/2 times equaling 90 seconds the avd would be 60 seconds meaning 100% avd after garnering millions of views I
found out that these two stats literally make or break your short success on YouTube and I can even tell you the exact stats that you need to aim for to achieve 100,000 1 million or even 10 million views but in order to do that I need to go over the testing phases and Trust Me by the time you finish watching this you will be ready to create your own viral shorts in no no time first YouTube starts off with basic testing this one is quite simple really they want to make sure your video is safe
non-copyrighted and of decent quality for example if you have things that go against YouTube's guidelines the AI will easily catch it and either keep you from uploading or simply give you zero views and zero Impressions but let's say that you pass this phase one you move on to phase two this phase will get you anywhere from 500 to 5,000 views in my experience I receive 1 to 2,000 views and this usually happens in the first hour or two depending on when you're uploading quick tip make sure you know when your audience is active because uploading
at the start of peak times is key to getting great initial testing if you're starting a new channel upload at 3 p.m. EST anyway back to phase 2 in order to pass Phase 2 and move on to phase 3 you either need a pre-existing audience of 20,000 subscribers or your short needs to have a 60% vbsa and a 65% avd but keep in mind that if you're uploading a 15sec short 65% avd doesn't really mean much all the stats I'm giving are based on longer shorts of 50 to 60 seconds we'll save a more in-depth
explanation of this for a future video so let's say you achieve those stats you'll then pass on to phase three this phase will get you up to around 10 to 20,000 views but don't feel too high just yet check those stats in order to sustain growth the short now must have at least 65% evsa ideally 70 to 75% and the avd must be above 80% if you achieve those you'll move on to the Final Phase which is potential virality phase 4 will catapult you to more viewers until your stats drop so you'll continue to get
get 300 to 1,000 views per hour as long as you keep a 75% or higher vbsa and an 80% or higher avd but you'll find this isn't enough for extreme virality you want millions of views you need to increase those stats to 80% vvsa or higher and 90% avd or higher as you start uploading shorts this may seem impossible but eventually you'll learn what your audience likes and what works the two main things are your hook and your story if you nail those you'll have a recipe for high vbsa and avd so to recap here's
an example my first viral video on my fantasy Channel achieved nearly 85% vbsa and a 47 second or 83% avd it had to prove itself to the YouTube algorithm before officially going viral in fact you'll find that YouTube will test these stats up until around 100,000 views if it finds you maintain these Godlike stats the whole time it will then push you to Millions but watch out because as soon as those stats drop your short will collapse now don't worry if you have decent stats let's say 65 to 70% vbsa and at least 30 second
ABD your video could be Evergreen and continue to gain traction for months I have videos that took 4 months to surpass a million views they didn't have Godlike stats but they were just good enough for YouTube to keep subtly pushing them so if you've made it to the end of this video you should have learned four key things one originality and creativity trumps all two vbsa and avd will make or break your short three YouTube tests your short over the course of four phases and about 30 days and four you should subscribe because new things
have already happened with these channels while I've been making this video and I can't wait to update you on them want to know how I acquired monetized channels how I select niches how I edit videos for highest ABD how I write scripts and craft hooks that get 70% vbsa every time well comment below which one you're looking forward to seeing and subscribe because they're all coming soon
