[Music] hello everybody welcome back to lea's field notes this week i have decided that i'm gonna be facing yet another one of my fears and that is waking up early quarantine has really gone to this point where i'm just willing to do anything yes i'm willing to take an ice shower just to feel something at this point so for five days i've decided to wake up at five a. m to try five very different morning routines we're gonna be starting with the hyper productivity focused to the very zen yogic spiritual side taking routines from brain experts ceos reality tv stars youtubers and ayurvedic chefs we're gonna be trying it all hopefully by the end of all of this i will have concocted my ultimate morning routine let's get started i'm so scared five is like pretty ambitious even 6 30 is ambitious [Music] day one is jim quick's morning routine he's a brain performance coach who's worked with the likes of elon musk and will smith and we're following his youtube video the one billion dollar morning routine my dreams were so weird i was like in and out of sleep because i think my body was just horrified to wake up at 5am i dreamt of like being at this like high school pool party but with like people that i knew from different stages of my life dreamt of my high school best friend seeing her mom and her grandma and her doing some crazy drug that was like helium i accidentally ate these like small red specks of like plasticky balls or something and then i guess i was sitting in my stomach for a bit and i was drinking water so then they expanded and then i started like barfing all of them out like i was puking them out because i didn't want to have them in my tummy and didn't know what they were so what does that tell me about myself jim quick following step is supposed to be making the bed but i'm just going to skip to the next step since andrew's still in the bed [Music] next step is to do some breathing methods you mentioned box breathing alpha breathing or like wim hof method breathing to oxidationate your brain none of which i know of so let's just google what's youtube how to breathe actually you have to take a cold shower later so let's do vim hof breathing no pause between inhalation and exhalation okay recovery breath in in and hold for 15 seconds hi did i wake you up you want to join me breathe in breathe and on the exhale stop one and a half minutes breath hold from now on become aware of the blood running through your veins the next step before you shower is one to two minutes of movement burpees crunches or anything to wake up the body and your heart rate i hate this orgy it's time for the cold shower [Music] that was so cool so good you guys gotta hear it that was delicious no it's nuts i soaked one look at the soap bar look how frothy it is which part of your body is yourself oh the front it's no big deal it's nice it's like an ice cube pack on your pack after a hot day it's really nice good job my toes and knees feel so cold still oh now we can brush our teeth finally all right guys for joining me on the challenge now look you have no other choice a light sleeper your challenge is my challenge [Music] miesha michelle can you wait until it starts time to eat come on today's about gym quick i need to see this routine so i can hey it's on my on my phone what the hell this guy's routine is crazy let's try it is worse than the cold you and things that you're doing now that don't i'm gonna write about my dreams and what i mean okay okay now i have to make a to feel list i wrote strong and capable confident in my work and content and grateful for what i have reproductive sharp confident full and loving oh that's cute the last one is a make to be list i'm going to be a loving partner i want to be patient and kind to myself why is food so far away now i have to read for 20 to 30 minutes i hate this i like this to feel and to be list it's cute it's cute i feel good i was writing i was like you know what i feel like already a quick little review of this morning routine we both actually loved it so much thought it would be a bit long but all the tasks were very short and all were very fun even though i didn't like taking a cold shower i felt really proud of myself afterwards and in the end we just felt so ready to start our day so let's see what's up for tomorrow no there's nothing i want more than to sleep today we're following the morning routine of bill mcnabb the chairman and former ceo of vanguard group very successful investment company and his routine is very short and sweet 5 am wake up grabs coffee goes to work is at his desk by 5 45 we're gonna be making our own coffee and walking around the block instead before we start working at 5 45. sunny and bright perfect day for a walk it is minus 12 the sun doesn't rise for another two hours i'm gonna take a little bit of creative freedom did you put protein powder no that is nasty [Laughter] some nonsense there are two ways of spreading light to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it okay let's go for a walk i got me my snow pants wow so good snow angel got back what the hell [Applause] hello hi yesterday i had my first therapy call and my therapist gave me a worksheet for my therapy goals so i'm gonna fill that in now while andrew's making some idomi because we're hungry phil's routine jumped straight into work too quickly i'm not even waking up yet [Music] so this is what i did in my peak productivity hours you like my drawing trying us sleeping because i just want to sleep right now either bill's morning routine is not for us or we've just not slept enough i think it's a combination of both so i guess tuesday's a bit of a fail but tonight we're going to try to go to bed early so we can hit it with a kabang the rest of the week although this is probably most similar to my past morning routines going to school or work i just realized it ain't it it didn't help ease my anxiousness get into work get into the flow i just felt super rushed even if i wasn't sleep deprived that day i just don't feel like this would be for me in the long run ah here i am getting ready for bed at 8 30. little did i know i missed at my alarm clock and i would be waking up at 7 30 am the next day i felt very sad but i picked myself up said no big deal and restarted the next day [Music] [Music] oh [Music] hmm damn tastes like ice cream [Music] oh my god oh [Music] i feel absolutely dyed i'm gonna take a shower and then i'm going to take a bath to really spice up this morning routine stay tuned [Music] i've never taken a bath in the am so this is a special day good morning day four is [Music] today's challenge is text someone new and use a new emoji one you've never used before [Music] next step is doing pranayama breathing so we're gonna watch a video about what it is first for how the mind and inner consciousness are functioning workout time do you want to do chloe ting or pam reef or am i doing this focus on your myself no don't break [Music] eventually [Music] [Music] so it looks so good technically we're supposed to do a few hours of work but we're both really hungry so we're gonna have some oatmeal hitomi's routine was super relaxing hydrating very nourishing but pam reef and cold shower in one morning i don't know if i could do that every day but overall a really good routine hello guys today is the last day of our 5 a.
