If you're worried that free courses are terrible, on YouTube? Even worse. .
. Have you ever thought, free course AND GOOD, on YouTube? It doesn't exist.
Of course it doesn't exist. If you're worried about that, at any time during this course, feel free to support the course, even if it's just to motivate yourself, ok? But of course, if you feel comfortable, if you think the course is helping you, if you can afford it, feel free to support as much as you want, if you want, I won't keep repeating it in every class for you to support the course if you want, at any time.
This little tag that is appearing for you there on the screen will always appear in all classes. And I'll leave this link [apoie. sheisacreative.
com] in the description, ok? So, if at any time, you feel tempted to help this course, feel free, I'll love it and it's a way for you to support my content, ok? But after all, who are you, Maiane?
Are you a āDesign Guruā? Nowadays there are a lot of design gurus out there, huh? People who know everything, they are the mentors, and they explain everything to everyone and only that person knows everything and we can follow that person without blinking.
Oh, sorry, people. Design guru. .
. I'm not a design guru. Sorry to disappoint you.
I'm Maiane, I've been working in the design field for over 10 years and I've been through several things in the design world, I've been through editorial design, I've worked on agencies, freelance, full-time jobs, I've worked with a very small company, in this case my company it's just me, right? So, smaller than that, it's impossible, but I've worked in a company which was just me and my boss, I've worked in a company with 100 employees, with 50 employees. I've already partnered and worked with multinational companies, so I've worked with various areas of design, of all sizes, so one of my primary points of distinction is that, before coming to the UI/UX area, I've worked in a variety of design-related professions, and I think this is something very rich and I want to be able to try to bring a little bit of this experience to you and share what I know, what I don't know, so that we can build this course together.
At the moment I work as a freelancer, content creator, enterprise consultant and trainer, and personal projects. So, that's a lot I do in this life, okay? So, what can I expect from this course, Maiane?
So, before I talk about what you can expect from this course, I'm going to talk about what you CAN'T expect. Please don't expect ready-made formulas, cooking recipes from this course, this course isn't meant to be easy. Although the classes are short, they are YouTube videos.
. . Every class, I'll have.
. . from the first class, if you go there, you'll have extra materials, Videos, books, articles, and diverse materials for deepening and you will be able to check it during all classes.
This course is not meant to be easy. You can do it in an hour, in two hours, in ten hours, twenty, thirty, it all depends on how much commitment you want to put into this course. But, ok Mai?
You've already said a lot of things and I'm new here, I don't know what is UI or UX, can you help me? Guys, if you've never seen these terms, I'll explain it here quickly in this video and I'll leave a link up here and I hope I got the side right because I never know which side I need to point to. I'll leave a link HERE where you can see a video where I explain this difference in detail, ok?
But so, UI is āUser Interfaceā, in a very summarized way, User Interface and UX is āUser Experienceā, that is, User Experience. In practice, these subjects, they mix all the time, they unite, one supports the other, and the other way around and it is difficult to totally dissociate one from the other. Usually what people explain.
. . And this is a super, super simple explanation They use that classic image of the ketchup, where people say that UI is that part of āOh, the packaging is cuteā and that UX is the part of experience, that the person takes it in a different way, that the ketchup comes out better, and honestly, I see that there is even prejudice in the User Interface (UI) part, when they say that User Interface āIt's just pretty" You will see during the course, mainly, because I, my real strength, much more than UX, I do UX, I get along well with UX, but the Interface part is my sweetheart.
And honestly, I find it very difficult, for a person who is just entering the area that this person will be very good at UI and UX Design. Honestly, I think that for you to be really good at both you will need at least 20 years of experience. That's my opinion, okay?
Nothing I say here, don't blindly believe anyone, not even me, okay? So question the things I'm talking about because I mainly want to teach you to Think about Design, ok? Basically, User Interface (UI) takes care of all this User Interface part, and when I say interface is not just a pretty little screen, it's thinking about scalability, components, accessibility, how things are related, in grids and other things, in usability, composition, we will talk about several of these things later on.
And User Experience (UX) is a lot about focusing on the user, it's about doing user research, it's about understanding the mind of the person who is going to use that application. It's about you being able to translate that to a screen and that's why these subjects in many, many times, they mix, and so, I'm talking screens, but design doesn't necessarily have to create a screen, okay? So in a very summarized way, that's it and for a deeper explanation you can check the class link, I'll leave a link in the description that is the class link, all classes have a link and in the class link, there are the extra materials.
In the next class, I will explain better how we can take advantage of all this, ok? And so, before we start, I still want to talk a little bit about motivation. Because it's very easy for me to tell you "Oh, do this course.
. . ", anyway, sometimes the person already enters "Oh, I'm just entering here, I don't even know if I'm going to get a job vacancy in the area" and I will be very honest with you that if you don't dedicate, you'll just be another one in the crowd.
Everyone is saying, āOh, there are plenty of vacanciesā, āI'm going to join design, and earn a lot of moneyā, āI'm going to make a lot of moneyā, āI'm going from junior to senior in 30 daysā Please, don't be fooled, there is no magic formula. Design is not an exact formula. It may even be that you're lucky, start earning a lot of money in the area, but honestly, this is very far from the rule, what I usually see is that the juniors are racking their brains to get into the area.
So, take this course with the mindset of āHow can I be different? ā, or āHow can I stand out? ā, or āHow can I show my effort?
ā If you really want to get into the area, you will. But it all depends on your effort, how much you can show your work and not just design, how you position yourself, who you want to be in the market. So, you will be invited to think about all of this in this course.
What can I expect from this UI/UX Design profession? You can expect a growing market. You just have to think, companies are constantly hiring more people, technology is a market that is growing like crazy, not only in Brazil, but all over the world.
So, there are opportunities in Brazil, there are opportunities around the world. It is a growing market, but it is not easy to enter the area. Don't think that, āOh, I'm going in, I'm going to do it.
. . I'm going to finish Bootcampinho and I'm going to have a job right away.
" Honestly, I'll be very happy if that happens, but it's not the rule, you'll have to make an effort, you'll have to work hard, do projects and the objective of this course is for us to do a project from start to finish, I'm bringing challenges, I'm bringing extra materials and the idea is that you can go deeper, you can look for other people, you can't be a designer who only thinks Maiane, ok? And so this class, it also has a challenge, all the classes in the course will have the amazing āAlfred's Challengeā. Well, this little friend here, he's going to challenge you during every class.
And this class is no different. And I invite you to do the following, enter the class, the link is in the description and there you can find āAlfred's Challengeā. What will you have to do?
First, watch the video I pointed out about the differences between UI and UX Design. On the class page there are three links, of three projects that are the ones you are seeing there on your screen and what I invite you to do, look at these projects and try to identify what you believe in, which parts of the process you believe has more to do with the interface part (UI Design) and which parts of the process do you believe has more to do with the UX part, User Experience, ok? So try to identify this in these projects, I suggest you write it down if you need to, take a print screen of these projects to make comments and so on, because that way your learning will be constant, ok?
If you want to know about the certificate, āMaiane, does this course have a certificate? ā, āIf I have questions, what do I do? ā, āMy God, how do I follow this course?
ā If you want to solve all these questions, click on this card that is appearing for you on the screen that is where I will explain everything, ok?
