hey welcome in and let's get started we have a lot to talk about related to your future podcast now you may already have a podcast or you want to start one very soon myself and team SPI we are here to help you we've helped thousands of people start a podcast and I just have to say today's a very special day not just because we're together and we're connecting we're going to learn a lot and you'll be able to watch the replay uh immediately after this in case you want to go back or you happen to
catch this late but today was the first day out of 850 some on episodes that I was able to interview Mr Seth Goden legendary marketer who I've read his books for years since 2008 with purple cow and tribes and the dip and you know permission marketing all this stuff it was such a cool and absolute honor to be able to have a 45-minute conversation with Seth and we connected and I wouldn't have been able to do that without a podcast so I know some students of ours some of them the only reason why they want
to start a podcast is to connect with other people they don't even care about the views and or the listens they just want to use it as a platform to be able to connect with others and I was able to finally do that with Seth which was just amazing so that episode is going to come out in October but I wanted to share uh that with you because that was a big win and a lot of big wins can happen when you start a podcast but we have a lot of things to talk about today
like I said so I want to first ask you to answer a few questions for me I see already 100 people here in the chat which is great if you're watching the replay you can just answer these questions in your head but how many of you listen to podcast feel free to spam the chat yes or no in most cases nowadays when you're in a room especially online when you ask this audience do you have a podcast yes or not or uh or do you listen to podcast the answer is most of the time yes
in fact more than half of the population is now listening to podcasts and the number continues to increase that's partly because more people are just listening to podcast but also because there are more podcast to listen to next question Chad I see your ansers coming in and this is great and thank you for chiming in and for being here and for sharing where you're from or where you're watching this is amazing how many podcasts are you subscribed to this is a very telling answer when you ask this question in a room so feel free to
spam the number of podcasts you don't have to share which ones but I know some people who listen to three to five you know they're subscribed to that many and some people who are subscribed to over 50 which that's a little exorbitant how do you have time to do anything else I don't know either that or you go on very long runs I I don't know but uh we'll see how many people subscribe and how many podcasts you're subscribed to about 15 says Lord of the Rings I love that name by the way 12 or
more maybe 5 three so it ranges but the fact of the matter is people don't just have their one favorite show they listen to several because not all of these shows can keep up with The Daily Grind so there's a lot of opportunity to get in front of audiences because people as you can see subscribe to more than one so you're not actually competing uh with uh a single direct podcast you are competing for just attention in space average number of subscriptions per person is eight at least in America and here's the big kicker when
you are listening to the podcast this is my last question for you for now this will be interactive as we go along but when you listen to podcast during a quote unquote podcast listening session how many minutes and or hours are you listening for and when you start to see these answers come in it starts to become very apparent why podcasting is so powerful right when a person maybe reads A Blog they're reading for 5 to 10 minutes right and they don't even read every word when they're watching a YouTube channel I know this as
a YouTuber when you can get people to stick around for 5 minutes you're doing a really good job 5 minutes social media people are reading and going right away and podcast people Lord of the Rings says 60 Tim FIS 2 to three hours long says Patrick people are listening for at least 30 minutes at a time on average and that's kind of on the low end you can see some more answers coming in a couple of hours isn't that kind of mind-blowing when you consider just how fast-paced everything is these days how short our attention
spans are podcasting is still the only medium that you can get in front of people for that long now of course it's not just an automatic thing you have to create a good hook you have to good have good content create some value have some quality but no other platform gives you this sort of opportunity and guess what you don't need a video camera yes we will be talking about video podcasting at the end of this as well but you don't need a video camera you can just talk and interview and have a conversation and
people are willing to spend hours with you which is absolutely nutty uh and the numbers just increase over time this is amazing now when I shared these results on Twitter not too long ago people would say Pat but aren't podcasts saturated right there are so many podcasts out there um you know we're still in the early days and I said okay well there's still a little over a uh 1 million active podcasts right um it's still in the early days in my opinion yes it is saturated but it's not saturated with valuable content it's not
saturated with quality content in fact we're not even close to a million active uh Matt mederios says um as you can see last 90 days less than a half a million active podcast so if you can keep up with this if you can get excited about podcast and stick with it there are good things that can happen and we're going to talk about some of those things now if that doesn't excite you I don't know what will if that is eye opening for you if that is exciting if that fires you up let me see
a fire Emoji in the chat because we're about to get ready here and while you do that I'm going to share a few just easy relatable ground rules here for this particular Workshop number one I'm about to fly at you with this information I love this photo it's one of my favorites from uh a retreat that my team and I had recently uh try to reduce distractions if you can I know some of you might be at work some of you might be driving please don't watch while you drive some of you might be doing
other things but I have a lot of information to share with you and yes like I said earlier the replay will be available there's nearly 200 people now watching from around the world which is amazing uh this is going to be interactive we're going to have a lot of fun I'm going to ask you quite a few questions as we go however you will have a chance to ask some questions for me at the end too and then finally what you're about to see is in fact the kind of stuff that you could see inside
of our course in the All Access past called PowerUp podcasting it served thousands of people to help them start their show and I'm here to help you and have this be sort of a launching pad for you whether you take advantage of the offer we're going to share at the end or not you will come away with stuff that you will learn and Eileen thank you so much for joining team Flyn Platinum so what I love about a podcast is it's like a stage right and when you start out your stage is going to be
small but a small stage is still powerful imagine being in front of 30 to 40 people like you see this gentleman in this room right now you can still make an impact on people you still have people's attention that is very powerful but a lot of podcasters we go oh we only have 40 downloads that's not a lot that is a lot of people in a room to be with it's a stage that you are on and as you continue to grow as people start to talk about your show and share it via word of
mouth and on their links and socials boom now you have hundreds of people listening and now you're in front of a presentation group like this and then over time you have a thousand people this is literally a thousand people in a room and that is me on that stage this was at shelene Johnson's event but just to give you some perspective when you have a podcast with a thousand downloads that is you on stage with a thousand people in the room listening to you which is amazing now I once had a podcast that was not
business related it was a food truck p well I guess in a way it was business related the business of food trucks and I started this show and it had 900 downloads per episode and on the surface in the world of podcasting you might see that number 900 downloads per episode and you might think well that's not a ton of people but when you think about the fact that all of these people owned or wanted to start a food truck that they had very specific goals that they had very specific needs that they were very
specific advertisers who wanted to get in front of this very specific audience a niche podcast can be very very powerful because it's not about how big the numbers are it's how strong those numbers are and a loyal audience can be built because like we saw earlier people are listening for hours at a time so this podcast which came with a website as well was eventually sold in 2020 and uh I was very happy with that but every week we would come out with a podcast and we'd have thousands of downloads of food truck owners which
was really fun now the SPI podcast or the smart passive income podcast many of you probably listen to has a Stadium full of people who listen every time and that is not I mean that there's a lot of power that comes with that and with great power comes great responsibility so I hope with what I'm about to teach you today and the things that's going to help you launch your podcast or launch your existing podcast to the next level you use these things for good right CU there are people who do these things for bad
and we're all good people here to serve the world in different kinds of ways with our superpowers and I'm here to teach this stuff to you today so podcasting I once heard was the best best way to scale intimacy when you think about the listening behavior of somebody or your even your own listening Behavior you're putting that earbud into your ear or those headphones on and then you're going on a run you're going on a jog you're going to the gym you're going on travel or on a drive um it is a very intimate way
to have a conversation or have a person listen to a conversation and it's just you and them and that's the crazy thing about the medium you're not on a website delivering this content where there are then ads and distra Cs and recommended videos and recommended feeds and click on this link here or sponsors ads blinking lights you're doing your thing while you're listening and then you have this voice in your ear it would behoove you to be that voice for somebody else's ear while they are on their run your target audience and so I want
to hear from you what's your show about or your show going to be about you don't have to have the exact title but I'd love to see it in the chat feel free to share it I'm going to just shout out a few of you and congratulate you on your existing show or your upcoming one that will grow from here because that's the job of this Workshop is I'm going to help you I'm going to help you in a few different ways today today you're going to learn the only piece of equipment you need to
sound like a pro yes the sound of your audio podcast even if it's on video is very important in fact more important than the video itself how to know what to podcast about so you don't waste your time specific strategies I want you to be able to steal them and use them on your own so that you can uh construct the best interviews and stand out from the crowd the number one element all episodes need to start with and there's different kinds of ways to do that so that you can hook a listener in and
get to that what I like to call that phone in the pocket moment right that is when a person starts listening to your show they commit to it they put that phone in their pocket and they go on that run they go on that drive they go to on the plane because they can't download anything else after that right so I want you to think about that magical moment I see stories from other dad says Tyler Casa day confidence podcast says Casa day confidence uh Moon wild Studio just came out with our podcast on the
eth congratulations to you on that do I have an Applause do I have an Applause for that uh there you go there's an Applause for you and everybody else who already has a podcast mindset fixes says David nice Mary says Hospitality stories I love how Niche these are already sounding now what's cool about this is again most of you are not going to get a bazillion listens per episode but you're going to have the right listens per episode that will attract the right brands that will attract the right people that will help you grow your
business get more clients help you prove yourself as an authority help you connect with other people in your industry that is the beauty of the podcast medium and you're all in the right place this is amazing let's see what else we're going to learn today you will also learn the secrets about the podcasting algorithm yes there is search engine optimization for podcast as well and my number one ninja podcast growth hack I'm going to show that to you live because it's the number one way that my students are growing uh their podcast it's if it's
the only thing you do it will work uh and then finally some monetization tactics as well so my goal today is to teach you the best info so that you can get started and again like I said earlier this is a taste of what we have to offer in our upcoming accelerator which means you will have a chance to do your podcast and grow it and start it with other people at the same time with some help from us if you want it and uh we got to start with some myths though because I could
teach you any of this stuff and unless you understand the stories that you're telling yourself in your head about podcasting you're not going to be able to move forward so here's podcasting number one that we're going to bust that you have to be a great speaker Storyteller or interviewer and the truth is podcasting will help you become a better speaker and a Storyteller so I'm going to see if I can play this audio for you because this is the very first audio that I ever recorded I need to uh or I wanted to share this
with you it always is a little bit cringe for me to do this because it is it is a 2008 patlin and that was what when how long ago was that that was 16 years ago I didn't have a beard I didn't have a lot of things I didn't even have a family yet and uh I wanted to start a podcast and here's that very first audio fight I'm going to hope it plays you let me know in the chat if it does if it doesn't that's all [Music] right hey everybody this is Pat from
the smart passive income blog uh thanks for taking the time to listen to this I think that's so awesome that you know you guys are helping me out figure out all this new podcasting stuff I'm actually just bought a whole bunch of podcasting equipment for myself um because I mean I listen to a lot of podcasts so I figured hey why not do one so I mean really I I really don't know what I'm going to talk about yet so I just wanted to get familiar with all the equipment that I have right now and
uh what it's like to post something online and hear what people think about it so I mean you tell me should I give up on podcasting now cuz my voice sucks so bad or you know should I talk a little deeper or I don't I really have no idea so bad again just thank you so much for taking the time to listen to me keep coming back to the website I got tons of information coming up in the near future and uh let's make 2009 a great year for all of us let's make it let's
make it the most profitable year we've ever had um and you know I'll try my best to help you get there so it up again good luck with everything happy holidays and this is Pat Flynn from the smart passive income blog signing off peace what's with the music that does not fit my personality at all okay that's just okay I'm done um I wanted to share that with you because a we all start from somewhere B we all start not knowing what the heck we're doing and C you can even hear it in my voice
how timid I was how I didn't know what was going to happen and I got so worried and scared about doing a podcast and this is again December of 2008 my first episode didn't come out until July of 2010 a year and a half later I got in my own way so my best advice to you here at the start is that it's going to be bad you're going to have to get through the disaster before you become the master or as I like to say you got to be cringe before they binge that's my
new favorite saying um and by golly I was cringe I recorded the first episode three times before I published it and you know what I just said nothing is going to happen if I just keep getting in my own way so I got out of my own way and now 800 and some odd episodes later I was able to interview Seth Goden today which was amazing and I get to have these incredible conversations and connections and you know get to serve you in a different kind of way than on a Blog in a video and
it's been so much fun so I just wanted to share that to hopefully encourage you uh here at the start of your journey um and it takes time it takes a little bit of time but it's so rewarding in so many ways I now have several different podcasts that have out and some have been sold and one with my son like I said you get to meet some incredible people I would have never been able to interview or get a chance to talk to Gary ve if it wasn't for the podcast because I had the
podcast it opened up that opportunity it has helped me generate more Revenue I'm going to talk about some monetization tactics including a specific episode that helped generate this much revenue in a single month one episode did that I'm going to share with you the structure of that episode near toward the end it's helped me build and connect with other people build a community and people show up because they feel like they know you when they're listening on the podcast they feel like you just are picking up where that lost conversation left off even though it's
the first time you've met it's such an incredible feeling and you will become a better Storyteller a better Communicator as a result of your show it is such a huge benefit I would recommend every kid start a podcast because a it's safer than a YouTube channel I think and also it'll just help you become a better presenter podcasting number two I got one other after this you have to podcast in a big Niche to succeed no the truth is Niche podcasting is the secret to growing faster no you're not going to have a billion listens
but you don't want a billion listens because that means you're spreading yourself too thin across too many different audiences what an audience that is exactly who it is that you should be serving is what you want just like Phil one of our students who created a podcast called scanner school this is about those little handheld radios like such a nich in a niche it's not just electronics and nerdy things it's specifically handheld scanner radios that like you can listen in on emergency lines and things like that he created a podcast and within just a few
months he was able to build a loyal audience he had people show up to every live that he did on Facebook he had people email him certain companies wanted to work with him just because he had this Niche podcast and he's been doing this uh for a while and uh this was only 24 episodes in that he had something amazing like that happen Sophie Walker another one of our students from way back in the day she has a podcast called Australian birth stories she interviews moms who are going through childbirth uh not like in the
middle literally at of child birth but you know during pregnancy after pregnancy to help other moms although that would be interesting to interview during that no don't do that uh but her podcast now has grown to become one of the top podcasts in all of Australia and there are even organizations now in Australia health organizations that use her podcast as for continuing education credits like that is so so cool um thank you just Samson I appreciate that I'm always learning I'm always trying to become a better Communicator over time uh this is uh Maria who
is in our all access pass and inside of spi Pro who started a podcast about plants and she has now as a result launched a book because of that which is really cool very Niche but she's killing it and she's doing awesome all right final myth here you can't make money until you get a big listenership this is okay people say Okay pet I want to Niche down but I mean then I don't have a number of downloads that then attract Subs you know sponsors big sponsors and sponsors that you hear on other podcasts like
I don't know the mattress companies and those kinds of things yes they want large numbers but they're going for a general audience you can get a lot of revenue from companies that are specifically in your space the truth is brand loyalty is something of massive value to these companies case in point this is wck who is a podcast host of the fire science show and he said uh he just sent me this email I've made it today I've signed a milestone sponsor deal for my show just wanted to share that I've made it I just
signed a blank yearly sponsorship deal for my podcast um and he's just getting about 600 downloads per episode he's generating more revenue from his Niche podcast with 600 downloads per episode then he is in his day job that is amazing so super Niche not a lot of people who listen to fire signs shows out there but the brands who want to get in front of the people who do want to pay just like they do at conferences and events so just wanted to bust those myths really quick and open your eyes and ears and mindset
to the opportunities that are available to you so if you're ready to get going we're going to get into the meat of this content now the how to I wanted to share all those things up front with you however because the howto wouldn't have mattered if you didn't think this was possible or that the opportunities weren't there for you even if you are in a small Niche so type in the chat let's do this Pat and we'll get started while I take a quick sip because if you do use your voice I will say you
will strain it and it's important to stay hydrated yes there was also this thing I learned over time called um I don't know if you can see this it's called Entertainer secret how do I how do the makeup people do it they do it like this Entertainer secret if you ever feel like your voice is going Entertainer Secret secret available on Amazon all natural threat relief # notsponsored this stuff is good uh credit to Nicole Walters who led me on to that that stuff is Magic all right let's do this Pat let's do it okay
I see it so first and foremost we want to make sure we sound like a pro right how you sound is actually more important than how you uh your videos are because you can watch a video that's terrible all the way through with no problems as long as the sound is fine but if you have a crisp video but the audio is terrible what are you going to do you're going to leave the audio is really important so you need a microphone right you need a microphone and we're at a point in time now where
there is an expectation that the mic and your audio the voice is going to sound good if you're guest doesn't sound good if your guest still sounds like they're calling in that's fine people are used to that on the radio it's not expected that the guest will also have incredibly awesome audio especially if they're just calling in or if it's like on Zoom or something but your audio must be good and thankfully there's a lot of tools and it's just actually really easy to do that right now you just need a good mic and that's
Pat pre- beard pre-beard once again but this mic here in the middle is my favorite the Samsung q2u um the Audio Technica is great as well whatever USB mic that you can use like these to just at least get yourself up and running is great you don't need to spend hundreds of dollars on equipment this is literally the only thing you need that one in the middle is by far the best $62 I think it was on Amazon I last saw it and you don't need any boxes or anything like I have I have like
this giant box here roadter Pro that plugs in this Samsung uh or the Sher sm7b and it requires chords and all this other that's too much if you're just starting out it's the lowest thing that you can get to sound great it would be one of those microphones the Samsung Q2 you now as far as audio editing software you need to record into somewhere or drag and drop a for example a recording into something or a audio file into something you could start for free I used Garageband for the first three years of my podcast
audacity is a PC uh friendly tool that you can use it's also available on Mac too but audacity is free and I have tutorials on YouTube for free and in our courses that you can watch on how to use those and there are a million buttons in each of those programs you just need to learn how to use like six of them uh to learn how to kind of slice your episodes get rid of the mistakes put everything together and Export it as an MP3 you're good to go cool as as far as recording interviews
you can use zoom if you use zoom be sure to uh use the setting where it's like for musicians so that it gets the highest audio quality you can just change that in settings uh I use squadcast which recently got acquired by descript I was an adviser for that company and they recently got bought out which is really cool and it's amazing because you can actually just record a high quality video and audio podcast with somebody on the other end they don't have to be in the same room with you and you can just simply
begin to edit it in script right after or take take that and edit it in your other software but I love squadcast it's probably the best recording software out there there are other ones that are comparable like Riverside but I'm a big fan of squadcast uh I am Wy says also using the q2u such a good and easy mic yes super easy to use just make sure the button the there is a uh do I have it here yeah so I have that right here there's a button how do I do this like the makeup
people yeah there's a button make sure it's on I got to tell you we get a lot of people who say Pat my mic's not working we just say is it on because when you plug it in there's a light that makes it look like it's on that just means it has power turn it on okay it's a little piece of advice okay and that's really all you need you need your recording equipment and your recording software and then of course now what now you need to know what to say or what to create content
about so let's create compelling content and I would start from not scratch always starting from not scratch is great and there's a lot of ways to not do that you could use AI to get some help for topics and things that you could talk about related to again who it is that you're serving it's important to know who it is you're serving but I also like to podcast about what's already been proven to work I'll often go from what works on my blog or what works on social media what are the conversations that seemingly are
getting a lot of activity on these platforms right now let's make a podcast episode about those because it's already been proven to be something that people want to listen in on and if you can go deeper with them if you can take that one minute Tik Tok that a person's blown up on right now and expand on it do give credit to that if you do get inspired to use it but then go deeper put your spin on it talk about it in your own position in your own way what are questions that people are
asking you if you have even an ounce of an audience already on social or especially on an email list and you're asking questions like what's the biggest challenge you have right now what's the biggest struggle that you just don't know how to get through right now boom these are perfect ideas for podcast episodes that can then lend itself to maybe something even further down the road a lead Magnet or a course if you will stories story story stories I cannot tell you this is the number one thing that I think podcasting is best for is
for telling stories you tell stories as the person who is the host you get stories as the interviewer and there are some strategies and tactics I'm going to share with you about that in just a minute to how to get a story out of somebody some of the best advice you can get because it really adds color to the conversation information alone is readily available in everybody's pocket now right the information the answers are out there it's the story that's told around those answers it's how you bring those up it's how you set the tone
it's how you bring lessons into a real life relatable situation that will get a person to stick around and listen but not just that those relatable stories get told and retold and retold just like stories back in caveman days before computers feels like the 1980s were caveman days for us but I mean way back how were things told and information was shared it was told through stories right so story story stories if there was one skill that I could just magically Thanos my fingers and give to you maybe that's not a good example because Thanos
made half the world disappear but if I could just give you a skill that would ultimately help you more than anything right now not just in podcasting but with anything it would be storytelling so study storytelling um I'm reading a good book right now called save the cat it's actually a screenwriters book how to write a screen a screen play or screenwrite uh for TV or for movies there's so many good tidbits in there that we could use for all the kind of content that we want to create including podcasting so save the cat and
there's many different versions of save the cat save the cat tells a writes a novel save the cat writes a TV show the original one is the best one go ahead and download and listen to that just Josh and yo thank you so much for that super chat I appreciate you my friend we get some Pokemon crossover here and I absolutely love it I love when I see my Pokemon friends who are trying to take their content to the next level I love it uh good call why make sure that when you are recording we
do teach there is a specific moment in the course that many of you will be going through where it shows you how to make sure that the mic that you want is the one that is being inputed into your recording software so anyway more technical stuff in there but for now let's keep going interviews with guests now let's talk about interviews here are some tips for you when you conduct an interview and yes I would recommend doing interviews because it's a a great way to connect with other people but B you can absorb information and
then share it from the mind of another another person that's stuff that you couldn't create yourself because you're utilizing somebody else's expertise somebody else's story and sharing that amplifying that to the world and that's not just great for the relationship but great for your audience as well so here are some strategies and tips for conducting great interviews be sure to understand that the interview starts before it happens before you even hit record you are helping that person feel comfortable you're making sure that the scheduling and all that stuff is easy because there are a thousand
things that are said before a spoken order is said when you enter a room or when you're conducting an interview so make sure that everything is easy and you make the person feel comfortable on the other end try to ask open ended questions one of the my very first interview which I never published I didn't know what I was doing and I asked questions like what's your fa favorite food what's your favorite color right what's your favorite food they said spaghetti and I asked what was your favorite color they said blue and I try to
be funny I said so do you like blue spaghetti and it just it went nowhere it was absolutely terrible when I learned that you should ask open-ended questions so that a person can answer more fully with a story not just a one-word answer I mean the that's 50% of the game right there hunt for the story though the best way to hunt for the story when you interviewing somebody is to literally set them up like this say oh okay well tell me about a time when blank tell me about a time when you set up
an ad campaign and it didn't go as expected tell me about a time when you were a child and you learned something that you still continue to use today tell me about a time when blank always use that it is such a great way I learned that I mean so many people have taught that John le Dumis and I think uh Ezra glass Ezra glass um there's a lot of people who have used that tactic and I want to just pass that forward to you it's not my tactic but I wanted to share that tell
me about a time when blank right so good um and just let them talk listen that's the hardest thing to do though as a podcaster when you're just starting out because you are so worried about what to say next what's the next question I'm I'm going to ask what if I just blank and I don't know what to do the best strategy I can offer you when you're doing these interviews is to just be genuinely curious be genuinely curious when you're genuinely curious you're going to genuinely and attentively listen you're going to wonder which is
exactly what the audience is doing and you're more likely to ask the right follow-up questions the gold lies deep don't just get an answer and move on get an answer and go well why did you that or what happened next or what would you do in that situation if you actually had time to think this time you know however you want to go deep be genuinely curious that will guide your questions the best advice I've ever gotten now when you start these episodes right it's a package your P your podcast is a gift to your
listeners so if the gift didn't have a package it would be less effective this is why gift wrapping and putting a bow on it is really nice this is why in Japan they go really all out with making sure the way it's presented is of value because there is respect there to that so respect your audience and don't just like go okay everybody hey you're about to listen to something great um you know trust me package it which means you need to start the episode with a hook of some sort a hook comes in many
different formats though it might come with here are the three things that you're going to learn and why you need to learn them because if you don't then this will happen here are the new Facebook ad changes for 2025 coming at you and if you don't do this you will lose money you will lose money if you don't listen to these three things that I'm going to share with you that are ultimately going to save you money and are extremely valuable you could be as simple and clear as that no fluff here's why you need
to listen and if you can't properly share why then why are you recording the episode mic drop that's mic drop but some other ways that you can hook people in the beginning is to take a interesting or curiously driven part in the middle of a conversation or in the middle of that episode and bring it up front and then in a way kind of leave people hanging now you're not going to leave them hanging for good you will satisfy them when you get to that answer later on but you're opening it up like a Netflix
episode where you tease a little bit if you've ever watched or listened to the Diary of a CEO they almost do this so well that I don't listen to the podcast anymore because I know if I start one of their shows it's going to hook me in right like oh three out of five people who don't sleep at night have this happen to them it can feel a little s but that's kind of what you have to do you have to sell people on why they need to invest this time with you to put that
phone in their pocket and then listen to the show so set it up and again if you aren't quite sure what those things are then it's going to be a little bit of a hard thing to do to convince somebody to listen so again that's uh an important thing thank you Marie mic drop uh no worries gista you'll be able to watch the replay but you're getting right into the heat of everything here and this is fine you can pick it up right from here so start with a hook think about that what is it
that is a person's going to listen to in the first 30 seconds you have 30 seconds on a YouTube video you literally have like 4 seconds but on a podcast you have a little bit more time you have 30 seconds when a person hits play to convince them to put that phone in their pocket to then go on that run and listen to your show what what are you going to share in there that is the most important part of your podcast absolutely the most important part thank you Samson appreciate you man uh yeah I
use ecam for any sort of visuals here and kind of flipping between slides and putting myself in and out uh so yeah it says a minute here you have less than that what was the name of the game show where you picked one of the boxes ah um what was that game show like behind that door or gosh I can't remember remember that show now let's talk about okay you you have your podcast you've discovered a little bit about what to talk about you do these guest interviews you're doing them well you're asking open-ended questions
you're getting the story out you're producing a hook in there now what we got to get heard right it's one thing to just create this thing it's another thing to Market it and get a person or people to find it to listen to then talk about it to get other people to find it when you do a lot of the things we've already talked about yes a lot of this will spread on its own some faster some not but we need someplace to launch this so that we can get heard and that's where we at
SPI really specialize because we don't just kind of teach you how to start podcast we want you to get heard as well and if you go through our accelerator program you're going to see actually people are two times more likely to succeed going through our accelerator program which is really amazing and we'll show you when that all starts it actually kicks off next week which is cool we'd love for you to be a part of that and love to guide you through this um we specialize in the marketing of the podcast as well not just
like the creation of it CU we want you to get heard even on day one so how do you do that well I don't want you to make the same mistake I did you need to launch your podcast like it's an event yeah let's make a deal let's go so let's make a deal and keep listening uh launch like it's an event because it is right I made the mistake and I did not do that but here's what it means to launch like an event you pick a date you invite the party you get the
venue ready you tease what's coming and then you launch right right so yes having a launch date yes having a space or place where people can come together to either celebrate or to listen together or to at least kind of feel like they're doing it with other people get the venue ready that means just get your show ready you tease what's coming you get people excited yeah we are going to have lobster for dinner at this party it's going to be amazing you're not going to want to miss it uh and then you launch this
thing you actually follow through with it right thank you Jim I appreciate you don't make the same mistake I did so what did I do I launched with one episode bad yes you you you record one episode you want to put it out there but you got to be smart about this because think about it if you're a musician and you you you want to get people into a room to listen to you boom you got them there you've set it up you hyped it up you're going to play your songs you go up there
you play one song and then you leave you've got them there you got them in the seats it would behoove you to maximize that opportunity for people to listen to more I just had people listen to one episode and it was the introduction so there was actually not any valuable content in there it was all just like setup people came because I hyped it up and then they left and many never came back thankfully the loyal fans showed up and many of you always do but there's a lot of work that comes into getting a
person to listen to a show it's it's a little bit cumbersome there's some friction there they got to get their app they got to find the podcast especially if it's new they got to download it like And subscribe there's a lot so when they're there let's maximize that opportunity so instead of playing one song at the concert that you set up I recommend playing three right so have three different podcasts episodes three episodes in the single podcast so that people can binge to listen to them because that is the behavior of a podcast listener they
are more likely to binge especially if they like something that they see or hear now here's the thing the cool thing is you can have three different kind of subtopics within your Niche if you know who it is your target audience is great maybe they're all trying to live their best optimized fitness and health life great episode one is maybe more of an introduction about you it proves who you are and a little bit about your backstory still teaches a little bit about your ways and your strategy and your mindset Etc but episode two is
about nutrition because you know that that's a very important part of your health and fitness journey and you teach a certain framework for fit for fitness and health and nutrition in episode two but episode three is about muscle building something that you believe in whether you're a man or woman you muscle build great cool you talk about that in episode three a person might come to your podcast and go okay I don't want to listen to the intro but muscle building is really important to me right now so I'm going to listen to episode three
first and then they go one and then two or they go 3 two one um maybe they might listen to episode two first because they got the muscle building locked down but they need help with their nutrition they're not getting the results they want because they know that they're not getting enough protein intake so that episode talks about protein intake wonderful you have 10 ways that you consume more protein in the day boom they're going to listen to that episode now you have multiple entry points for your podcast as well there's a lot of things
that stack when you launch in that way thank you Jeffrey appreciate you launch all three on the same day yes all three on the same day it's launch day of my podcast you make that announcement boom any one of those three they can listen to and most likely they're going to be listening to one two and three or 321 or 213 31 whatever the case may be um you're going to get a lot more velocity because when it comes to the algorithm which I'm about to share with you velocity is important it's just like the
Amazon book um uh algorithm right you can beat out a book that's been around for a while that has tens of thousands of reviews because you just in a certain period of time have more velocity than them in that time and then things will start to even out after that right okay so let's keep going here I know this is a lot I'm pouring it a lot on you in our accelerator we guide you through all of this kind of week by week for 10 weeks and Boom at the end you have your podcast and
some listeners but for right now let's keep talking your podcast even if it's Audio Only there's still a visual component uh to it that is one of the me most important things that you could think of uh of which is your cover art your cover art is key and a few big mistakes a lot of people make is they design it on a large computer but remember where are people listening to your podcast mostly or finding it for the first time on their mobile device so it's tiny tiny tiny so you need to go and
design it for a tiny screen as well um it still needs to be a large file but it needs to be seen even if it was shrunk down 3,000 by 3000 is the pixel count and again we walk you through this inside of our accelerator when you work with us but the text is the most important thing of what the show name is and if you want to include your face cuz it's a personal brand that's great too you can come up with some different ideas I recommend canva super easy to use but if you
look at a lot of the slides here I mean these are great um I'm not a big fan of cursive because when it's shrunken down doesn't work as well but the letter press digest I really love that I would change the the font on that these are some of our students by the way OMG books with William OD day boom he's got a cartoon version of himself I like the one with the banana feed me fuel me the new 30 podcast is probably my favorite big and bright right this is for 50-year-olds who see something
big and bright and C the new 30 podcast it talks about and tells you something about what you're going to get when you get out of the show how do you launch if you don't already have an audience you begin to start to talk about it even before that day and even if you have 10 to 20 people on that first day uh that's still more than many people are getting even if they've had a show for a while so you can Kickstart yourself in that way in a um launch like manner but when you
launch your podcast as you'll see that's the time to start to reach out to people friends and family and especially colleagues social media connections all that you have to make some noise on that launch day you want to treat it like it's it's an event because you do have something of value to share right you want to treat it almost more like it's not for you it's for them this is something of value that you're finally being able to present to the world and even if you have a small audience a little bit of listenership
goes a long way because people start to talk about this thing especially if you can match the problems and the solutions and you're talking their language they're feeling like uh they finally found their relatable podcast things begin to pick up from there Brandon says what would you recommend on finding guests for a podcast start with people you already know that's always going to be easiest then the second degree start with people who you know who may know somebody get an introduction to those people those are always going to be the quickest and fastest ways to
get guests on the show and there are some Services out there where you can go and get guests on your podcast um those work sometimes sometimes they don't um and the other thing is get on their radar first before you ask for a person to come on your show it's always great to build a relationship with them first uh to maybe be a part of their Community to offer some value to their Community um and then the ask doesn't come out of nowhere anymore it becomes almost like a a return for a solo podcast um
what's going to be valuable is knowing exactly who your audience is and what they need help with speak to them relate to them tell your story so that they feel like a part of them is with that story as well um that's how you become relatable and teach and and get those hooks down on those solo podcast solo podcasts are hard it's hard to talk for 30 minutes straight have your script ready don't script every single word just have a detailed sort of bulleted Point list of where you want to go and don't feel like
you have to do it all on one take that's the biggest lesson I learned when doing solo shows I used to try to record a 30-minute episode in one take which is nearly impossible very rarely does that happen now I just record the whole thing and when I make a mistake this is a big tip I wasn't going to get into this but since we're here when I'm recording a solo podcast I'm recording into the microphone I hit record and it doesn't stop until I get to the very end mistakes and everything are all in
there I use editing to remove those mistakes out and just put the good parts together how do I know where to find the mistakes well you can go and listen and and take the mistakes out or when you make a mistake you just go oh my dogs heard that or I go something so that you can see that Mark in the wave file and you know that if there's a series of claps or marks in that wave file when those series ends that means you know that the next one was the best take so that
you can just see all those things and remove them right away without even having to go back thank you uh Josh appreciate you all right let's keep going here um let's talk about this real quick this is the Apple podcast rankings again it's all velocity right so the number of new subscribers and downloads and ratings and reviews that can happen within a short period of time equals higher rankings so if you've had a podcast for a while maybe you're not where you want to be like what January just said you can treat an upcoming episode
like it's an event and try to get some velocity this is how you can start to rank higher get more people talking about it and try to hit another Tipping Point where then start things start to happen automatically right it's almost like pulling a motor you need to kind of pull it a few times and then one time it just gets that right pull and then boom the engine starts going so this is why treating an upcoming show or the launch of your podcast like an event is cool because you have more subscribers downloads ratings
you can run giveaways or contests or you know hey you know if any of you write a review give me a screenshot I'll pick one lucky person person and we'll do a 30-minute call together whatever you can do to structure a way to provide value to those who do take action and help you out can be great and you'll get higher rankings you'll start to see yourself go up um uh we had a student of ours recently boots is her name she actually renamed her podcast uh she had a podcast has a podcast about heart
surgery and she renamed her podcast and kind of made a big deal about it and she's now like the top 100 uh Health podcast um in the us right now because of her show and she's exploding she's starting to see more views she had her audience she had her podcast for a while use the brand name change as an excuse to make a big deal about it and boom she's getting results so uh yeah boots is amazing we love all of our members and subscribers especially when they do great things okay uh we have a
few more things to talk about and this one is one that I know a lot of youve been waiting for my ninja podcast growth hack now when I first share this with you you're going to be like really Pat that doesn't work trust me it works and I'm going to show you forums and groups Facebook groups LinkedIn groups those kinds of things these things work but they don't work in the way that you might think that I'm about to talk about them I don't even want you to consider like okay you have a great podcast
episode you know it's helpful for a certain group of people so you go into these groups and you start talking about your podcast and even like summarizing your podcast to help them that does not work if you are from the outside and you come in and start promoting anything of yours in any of these groups it's always going to be considered spammy or they're just like nobody likes to see a new person come in and just start like spamming their own stuff even if it is valuable right so how might we utilize these groups to
get a win on both sides to have them feel valuable but also have it expose our podcast well I'm going to show you I want you all to really quick while you're here let me know what your podcast is about or what Niche it's in I'm going to pick one of you we're going to do this extracise together I'm going to show you live how to use groups we're going to use LinkedIn as the example to structure a podcast episode that's going to help you build a relationship with these groups and actually get them to
promote your podcast they will do it you won't even have to do it yourself so I'm going to wait just a couple seconds while I take a quick drink of water here then we're going to go through this example together DIY backyard gardening cool a lot of great ones coming in too but Let's do let's do gardening right so I'm going to go into uh actually let's go here I'm going to go into LinkedIn and I'm going to look up gardening so this is gardening and if you click on groups right here you will see
the groups and this is on LinkedIn by the way mastering gardening people homeing Garden decoration let's look at some of these groups the gardening seeds guide there's a lot of groups here it's gardening but it's on LinkedIn and look at that 8,000 members 7,000 members let's go here I'm not going to click join I just want to look at this 6,690 members I can see some different here we go this is what we want Rob Rob courton let's go to Rob Rob is the founder of the gardening group on LinkedIn I'm going to reach out
to Rob send him a message if I can't find him here I might find him on X or on Facebook or on Twitter whatever it might be and send them a message sometimes on LinkedIn especially you might have to have premium in order to send a message but you can still find these people Facebook groups is a great way to do this you don't need premium to be able to send a message but I'm going to reach out to Rob again Rob has a group on LinkedIn for gardening and I have a gardening podcast I'm
going to go to Rob and say hey Rob I see you have this amazing community on LinkedIn for gardening I would love to feature you and one of your tips on my upcoming podcast what's one thing you wish you knew before learning how to garden or before starting your your backyard garden if you could just click on this link and leave your message I will pop it in the podcast and I'll make sure to link to your group too what's that link it could be to a Google voicemail or I like a tool called speakpipe
speakpipe is one of my favorites let me just share it here really quick speakpipe is a really cool website where you can send a link to somebody and just get a voice message it becomes an MP3 and you can just take that MP3 and pop it into your podcast right so I got Rob's tip then I'm going to go to another group and then another group and then another group I got John I got got jod I got Janice they're all James for some reason but I get all their tips I get 10 tips from
10 different groups and I compile them into this amazing episode These seasoned gardeners who share their number one tip that they would offer to people just starting out how valuable of an episode that is that's very valuable for the listeners but guess who it's also valuable for it's valuable for these people who I featured what are the chances that they will publish this podcast episode inside of those groups themselves the chances are extremely extremely high why because you've made them look like a genius or a hero and now they get to share that in front
of people in front of their people this is exactly what a group owner wants they want to look good in front of their people it establishes more Authority and guess what you and your podcast has given them a little bit of authority to do that and this is such a powerful strategy you can have if you have 10 tips from 10 different people in there 10 different links in all these specific groups linking back to your podcast this is huge this is a great way to launch your podcast too by uh collating all these things
by being an expert curator if you will some of our students are using just this strategy alone and there's a part two to this you can take maybe Rob's was the best one and I go back to Rob and I go hey Rob your tip was really amazing we had a lot of people talk about that I'd love to invite you on the show just to talk for 30 minutes 45 minutes about gardening in general and hear from you even more the reason that you have that two-phase approach is because you might not know that
they may or may not be good on the podcast right I've uh tweaked the strategy a little bit because a few times I've done this in different niches the person just wasn't good on the podcast but a one minute tip is typically going to be great but you'll be able to get a sense and a Vibe of a person and how um much excitement they have what they might be like on a bit on a bigger interview once you go through this strategy this works every time you're helping these people get some love you're getting
some love because they're pushing you out into their audience on their behalf it works so go ahead and take that and use that it works every single time and you can change the question every time maybe every 20 episodes you come up with a different question what's what's the number one plant that you recommend people would plant that they haven't yet I don't know I'm just making this up so yes takes a little bit of work but you're not doing anything new you're just creating Connections in the way that people haven't before because you have
a podcast that's what's so cool about that strategy it's it's free to do it just takes a little bit of time and work cool all right let's talk about monetization now there's a number of different ways to monetize your podcast the number one way people think about is sponsorships and advertising that can be very difficult because you might not have those numbers that support certain sponsors and advertisers in their campaigns now like I said earlier in the beginning of this uh Workshop there is a podcast who has a podcast that has only 600 downloads per
episode and he's been able to generate more Revenue than his day job because he connected with a couple companies that saw the value and how loyal that audience was the fire science show is the name of that podcast and wiic is the guy's name and he was able to position his podcast as one that would be more valuable than what a company would spend at an event where people are just kind of walking by and it you know takes a lot of time and effort for that company to set up a booth there no he's
getting more money on his podcast because he was able to position it as more valuable because of his loyal audience so that's one way to do it yes you can get sponsors but there's other ways to do this as well you could do affiliate marketing where you promote other people or other companies products and and recommend them you can get new students and customers for your own stuff if you're even just trying to get one client or one new coaching student or one student for your upcoming course whatever it might be a podcast is a
great way to do that because they're able to kind of get a sense of what it might be like to work with you before working with you much much easier to do it than just text alone and video with all the fancy edits no voice is real people can hear what it might be like to coach with you and then want to coach with you you could sell into events and do things like that and patreon patreon is a model that a lot of people are using where almost like fans fans supporting that Creator and
a lot of people are making significant Revenue doing that because of just how loyal the fans are which is amazing now I want to share a podcast episode this is episode 275 so it was a while back in 2017 this was coordinated to publish the same week that we launched PowerUp podcasting for the first time so before launching a course we had some beta students go through it and I invited three of those students on who did very well on to the show and I asked them questions to talk about their podcast right and this
makes sense I'm like using them as a case study but I didn't ask them questions like tell me why PowerUp podcasting was the best podcasting course you've ever experienced or tell me all the best things about my course and why you would recommend it to everybody else I didn't even have to do that when you have a podcast you can ask some really amazing transformational questions like this why did you want to start a podcast in the first place so that's what I asked and it became very real Dr B there who you saw on
the left she was over 65 years old she wanted to start a podcast she had extensive knowledge with ADHD and working with people who were living with ADHD and how to help them and she knew that she could start a podcast to help people but she didn't know how and then I asked her why didn't you start your podcast already what has been so hard for you oh my gosh Pat the challenges of technology for a 65-year-old like me it's so hard so she was talking about this what do you think the listeners are listening
to at the same time they're listening to a version of themselves they're hearing a 65-year-old talk about the struggles of Technology but then they also hear the fact that my course was able to help them unprompted Dr B said oh but Pat you made it so easy for me you helped me launch something I never thought I'd do possible and now that I'm here I'm able to be a part of these other organizations I'm in 33 countries all around the world now the most glowing testimonial without even feeling like a testimonial it was just a
before and after picture in audio format right so she's amazing um Dr B Dr Shannon nvan in the middle there she was talking about how she was taking her offline business and turning it into an online one and the podcast helped her do that Disney Travel Secrets more of a business-based podcast where she was uh Rob and Carrie Rob was on the show talking about how his business increased 263 per since starting the podcast they got that many more clients and so I was able to kind of in one episode touch across all these different
objectives and obstacles that people had and they were hearing it from somebody else not me so when you have a show if for any other if for none other reason than to bring your own students on your own clients your own customers on to talk about their experience with your product Oh my gosh it can be worth it just for that reason alone just for that reason alone yeah Mark There's No Limit there is no limit to age on podcasting so I have a question to ask you what was the number one most helpful thing
you learned during our training today I shared a lot of things with you from the marketing tips and using Facebook groups and forums and Linkedin groups in different kinds of ways to getting started with your show to tips for interviews to how to figure out what to create content about I kind of gave you a nice little rundown of a step-by-step approach however of course I know that many of you need a little bit more help and some handholding along the way told you earlier that what you saw is basically what we teach inside of
our course and our accelerator PowerUp podcasting but we have something special happening next week next week we are launching I don't know what iteration this is Ashley Ashley is uh from teams on the chat but I don't know how many times we've run this accelerator but it's always our favorite to run because we see clear results from students who go through this course and by accelerator I mean you're going through it with other people at the same time you if you are a member of the all access pass you can take any of our courses
at any time you have access to all of them but we run these accelerators in little packs in little cohorts over time so that we can help you through these things together and thank you for all the amazing stuff that you see that you've learned today which which is amazing Al the importance of capturing their attention in the first 30 seconds yes package that thing asking group admins for the number one tip awesome advice three shows when you launch amazing we want to help you do that so if you say yes in the chat I'd
love to uh ask your permission to share a bit more about our upcoming accelerator so just type yes in the chat if that's okay because this is an opportunity that you have and something has brought us together here today so if you've been on the edge of starting a podcast and you aren't quite sure how to do it or you just need that Kickstart we are here to help we've helped thousands of other people we want to help you too this is our second time running it okay that's right I'm confused because we've actually run
this in person before and I've run it in person a few times like little workshops that cost uh a few thousand dollars here in San Diego that was pre pandemic though but having it built in the into into the community in this way has been really neat uh awesome thank you so PowerUp podcasting this is our 3.0 version we recently updated it with some stuff for video podcasting you don't need to do a video podcast but we had a lot of people people ask okay how do I do that how do I edit my show
how do I capture both at the same time audio and video yes you can capture the audio and video and just take Clips out but you can publish the full thing on YouTube and other places too and we have a new module about how to do that inside of PowerUp podcasting in the 3.0 version so this is latest upto-date stuff but the course walks you through in this manner we walk you through pre-launch so in the first couple weeks if you're in the accelerator we drip you the lessons you need to know in those first
few weeks just at every week you get a certain new batch of lessons so it's not like it's just you're on your own we're work working through it with you you get access to office hours each week to make sure you get through all the stuff that you need to to open up the next week but during pre-launch we help you develop your perfect show concept understand the tools and tactics that you need we order your equipment all that good stuff create Evergreen content over time we teach you how to be attractive on the microphone
how to use the microphone in a way to better portray your voice uh the art of the ask to get people to say yes to coming in on your show being an effective interviewer and create call to action so that when people listen and you've gotten their attention you absolutely have permission to tell them where to go next where to subscribe what to do what actions to take we want to teach you how to do that too how to master your introductory hook find your Competitive Edge and launch your personalized launch plan then we figure
out what date you're going to launch your podcast it might be a month in the future two months some people do this in just a couple weeks which is wild but typically in a month or two you'd be able to have your podcast ready and we want to make sure that we prepare it properly to launch in all the top directories including Apple podcast and Spotify how to get the most support from your network so when you launch you're not not just launching to crickets and build massive anticipation for your launch event and then your
launch day we go big we celebrate together and you power up your business but it doesn't end there we want you to begin to remove yourself from that process we also inside of the all access pass we give you access to the 2.0 version of the course to help you amplify and market and turn it into a business and in a complete product um and we talk about rankings and how to keep your show at the top two how to monetize maximize advertising income this is all built in and you'll see it week by week
if you go through it with us in the accelerator and then like I said the new video podcasting module which is amazing we used to sell PowerUp podcasting Standalone by itself for $699 and we did that for four years straight and we had thousands of people go through which was amazing and it was successful we helped many many people start their show many people who have gone full time with it now like I said I taught this in person as well this was Shannon one of our beta students who you saw earlier in that podcast
episode coming in to talk about her success with her show in front of my students and this was a live event that happened in San Diego a couple times before the pandemic and that cost $5,000 to join now the all access pass is something that we launched in 2022 with over a dozen courses and workshops under our belt it was easier for us to just package them all up into one program for you to join and then help you figure out which one of those was best for you at the time and when you finish
one you can go into the next and then the next and have them all without having to pay more so you can get access to all of our online courses including pup and a dozen others inside of the all access pass you get access to an active Community like of other like-minded entrepreneurs like you you get access to team SPI like Ashley and we have David inside of pro and many others who are there to help serve you and guide you as well we're not not going to leave you on your own that would be
failure on our part guided pathways through our various courses so you don't get overwhelmed through them and then I keep talking about this the accelerators these are classes of people that that go through a particular course together at the same time and our podcasting one is happening next week it kicks off with a kickoff introductory call on Thursday so you have until Wednesday the 28th to sign up so be sure to act now I'll give you the link in just a moment but inside of the all exis pass you can see all of our courses
there all the way from affiliate marketing to webinars to email creating online courses and of course PowerUp podcasting which is what you'll be working with through the accelerator you can see that we Once Sold each of these for hundreds of dollars individually but like I said we wanted to lower the barrier to entry and keep them all into one place inside of the all access pass so instead of paying what would be thousands of dollars to get access to all of these without the community without the accelerators and the help it really just comes down
to what it is when you pay quarterly $199 per quarter which pans out to $66 per month this is an absolute steal and this is just enough to invest in so that you feel like they're skin of the game without breaking the bank and it is our job to support you in there so that we keep you on and you'll see when you go through this accelerator that it's going to be unlike anything ever that you've gone through before because we are here unlike any other community with a team of people hired to help support
you um so you can join today and prepare yourself for what will be week one starting well no ashle the kickoff is on Thursday August 29th the first week of actual work will be the the following week after that it'll be 10 weeks working together each week you'll have access to uh office hours to talk about the module or two that you'll be going through that particular week you work through it with other people it's all broken down for you and like I said people are two times more likely to succeed by going through our
accelerator um we built it in this way we completely changed our business model to be this because we know it can help you better and it is proven Bob Baker here recently shared that he passed five million podcast downloads he was uh one of our OG students inside of PowerUp podcasting 5 million downloads 283 episodes since October 2019 which is amazing and as you can see here he finished the podcasting stuff and he's like okay I need to go now into the advertising course and the sponsorship course which are just readily available if you're part
of this thing if you're part of the all access pass Rob Stewart here was talking about how much his business was impacted since starting his podcast he was only a few episodes in to Disney Travel secrets and already seeing results which was amazing he had to actually send clients away because he was getting so much traffic which was kind of cool then uh he sent me a message saying how much power podcasting changed his life which was amazing uh Tina here says the spba access pass has provided me with a fresh perspective on small business
bus entrepreneurship this is isn't just the accelerator this is the group that you get access to and will have access to so long as you want to stay in it's not just a membership is revolutionized my mindset approach and strategic thinking with exclusive courses Live Events and supportive community of like-minded entrepreneurs it goes beyond a typical membership Leslie says Pat and his team this is in the chat actually thank you Leslie I didn't thank you I didn't ask you to do that respect Pat you've always delivered massive value to me keep crushing it thank you
Mark I appreciate you everybody should listen to Mark's podcast as well it's amazing uh I'm an SPI member says Leslie and I have the all access pass Pat and his team are great and the community is wonderful always available to provide feedback this isn't just some madeup thing people this is something we structured to be at the Forefront of how education should be done in the entrepreneurship space It should be done together and we are here to help you and support you with that so if you go to this link right here smartpassiveincome.com pup you'll
get access to the PowerUp podcasting page and that's where you can sign up and get ready for the upcoming accelerator that'll take you a page that looks like this you can learn a little bit more about the course and all that's involved but the PowerUp podcasting accelerator runs from August 29th to November 7th so that by the time the holidays roll around you'll already have a show with multiple episodes up and running and then be able to accelerate into 2025 already with an audience and some good stuff happening into the 2025 year so really really
excited again smartpassiveincome.com pup is where you want to go sorry see the bars covering my face there um and thank you this has been amazing and whether you take advantage of the off offer and to join us or not again it's a very very low price for an investment into your future into audience building into trust building into connections with other people in your space uh we want to help you accelerate your results with that and if we're not doing that then we're not doing it right um Chris says the accelerator is excellent thank you
so yeah we are here for you and Ashley's here to support as well I'm happy to stick around for another five minutes to answer any podcasting questions you might have or any questions about the accelerator what if we already have a start with 25 episodes and looking to grow so bule a couple things you can do there and actually can add to this many people who already have a podcast do actually get a lot of enjoyment out of going through our course PowerUp podcasting since you are already up and running maybe you don't need to
necessarily go through the accelerator or maybe you kind of join halfway through once you once we start to get into the marketing positioning all that stuff however some foundational stuff might be good for a podcast at your level to um you know rethink about who it is that you're serving what episodes want to create just to kind of set the tone again and almost relaunch if you will um you could also join the all access pass and Skip power podcasting and go straight to our amped up podcasting course which would be at this time on
your own to take but it is freely available to you in there to uh to go through at your own pace if you wanted to we have run an accelerator for amped up podcasting which we may very well do in the future which accelerators we do is really up to the community and ashy leads those fronts but um yeah it's it's just so fun to do these things together because you're more likely to succeed study show that you're more likely to succeed I think we all know and feel this when you're doing it with other
people which is cool can two people join in together mom and son or can they be separate Kim it's totally okay if they come in uh together um as long as both names are on the account uh been following Pat for nearly a decade now drift away for a bit then YouTube put this stuff in my feet again and what I found tuning back in is Pat still overd delivers thank you Mike I appreciate that welcome back by the way I hope all is well with you and your journey and what you have going on
Ashley is just firing away with at these questions absolutely amazing um you guys won't see me as David the fit bro LOL okay cool cool gotcha I've seen this podcast presentation before and I get something new each time thank you Leo we always try to add new and relevant things every single time too um and of course the audience changes it up depending on what questions are asked and also just the energy um but today was a special day you got me at a really good time because I had just finished a podcast with Seth
Goden and if you weren't here in the beginning I started with the idea uh or or with this picture here I'm going to go back to it really quick but I had the absolute pleasure today interviewing Seth Goden and Seth uh was just so fun to interview he's just such a great Storyteller he always just has away with words if you've known Seth in his work for a while uh and and he was quite complimentary to having done this for now 15 years he saw I know I could tell he did his research we never
met before this but he without prompting anything said wow like to have done the podcast for this long shows me that you're doing it for the right reasons uh and and that was such a huge compliment because I I I hope that you all agree too like we could have gone in many different directions the podcast um although it's not quote unquote like the brand new thing to do I'm still doing it and I still think it is hot and something people should take advantage of because although there are now millions of podcasts the podcast
world is not saturated with value the podcasting world is not saturated with quality and that's where you can come in and hopefully with our help you know bring some quality up there for everybody too guitar Mike says what do you think about having subtopics within an episode I think it's important to have a general topic for so to bring people in but to then divide that into smaller subtopics I think is fantastic right you can do that in different ways some people have what they call segments so a segment that repeats in every episode that
a person can look forward to so if you have a fitness one for example uh or or maybe even for you uh for for for guitar might be like a resource of the week right hey you know we're going to interrupt our program just really quick to talk about uh a fun resource this week our resource of the week and um it's this right and it's just like a segment you can even put a little jingle in front of it to have be like a repeated thing or you can break it down in fact I
think it would be helpful for an audience to go hey here's the big topic we're talking about we're talking about Fitness today but we're going to break it down into three sections number one we're going to talk talk about muscle and protein and the biggest mistakes that you're probably making when it comes to your diet number two we're going to talk about sleep the thing that nobody even really thinks about but is actually the most important thing study show blah blah blah blah number three finally we're going to talk about um we're going to talk
about techniques when it comes to your uh to to weightlifting so those are the three things we're going to talk about when it comes to your overall health let's get into it right so absolutely nice Moon wild love it uh does the accelerator work with the YouTube course as well so we have uh a YouTube accelerator that just finished or is just about the finish I think Ashley answered this question already but you get access to that so if you wanted to in conjunction you know kind of watch the tips and the strategies on building
a YouTube channel naming it marketing it shooting videos how to edit video if you want to do that with the uh podcast in mind as well you can although I would recommend one thing at a time get your podcast up understand who it's for discover what uh particular pieces of content you should be creating and then go and create them and then you can add the video component on top of that laner uh later thank you Stephanie currently have a gaming podcast about five episodes in no okay cool nice yeah g like gaming is is
huge and um there's a lot of big games I know that are coming out this year that could be fun to talk about like the IND Indiana Jones one I would love to hear a podcast episode about the history of that particular game because that's going to be a huge game there's one that's going around the Tik toks right now I can't remember the name of it but it has like some Japanese kind of style Samurai thing but he's like a monkey what is that game I don't know but I've seen the visuals and it's
ridiculous um cool what do you think about a daily personal development podcast David I think a daily podcast could work if you can make it work that's the biggest thing people have tried daily because people like Johnny doomis has done daily and has done very well but he's had to make sure that he has his systems in place and systems are a part of the things that we talk about in our course because we want you to have a system in place so that you're not just scrambling every time you're wanting to create a new
podcast but you have a certain set of steps that you do that makes the process easier and easier and easier each time um daily means you're going to have to go through that process much faster I like the idea of daily because that means you're getting more reps but I don't like the idea of daily because you're going to be you're going to have to be locked into that right you might try daily for the first month and then go into by bi-weekly or something like that after that if you wanted to really like go
hard but in general for all of you listening once a week to start out with is good enough and and great in fact with three episodes launched on launch day and again we help you coordinate and choreograph that launch inside of the course and get a personal plan for you yeah Wukong oh my gosh that game looks amazing Brandon what would be your one advice for a 20-year-old that wants to start this podcast get out of your way and start now there can be so many ways that you can tell yourself to not do it
and talk yourself out of it but once you get get going just like I shared earlier in the show when I started and I had that terrible audio you got to be cringe before they binge you will be better at editing every time you do it you'll be better at communicating every time you do it by waiting you are waiting for the you you you are delaying the opportunity to improve and that would be my best advice just get started it's w the podcast got me to take the entire family Japan vacation for a month
how sick is that thanks for the guidance bro no shot that's cool so woic from the fire science podcast is here he said the podcast got me to take the entire family to Japan for a month how sick is that that is awesome dude and I love your story because it's really a case for niching down and succeeding and I love that so thank you for that Ashley I was confused I was like wait the fire signs show convinced you to take your family to Japan I was confused but we're good all right chat I
think uh that uh yeah link right here this will be the last thing smartpassiveincome.com slup the kickoff is next Thursday we'd love to see you we promise we're going to be there to take care of you and if we don't then we don't deserve your Revenue because our Revenue should be a byproduct of how much of service we are to you and that will always be the case and we um we want to be here to support you we want to be a part of your story we want you to come back to us in
a month in a year and go Pat it was that it was that Workshop you did did on YouTube that changed everything for us just like wagic just said so we are here for you looking forward to it um smartpassiveincome.com pup do you need to script like YouTube videos while recording a podcast no you do need to know where you're going though um however when you're having a conversation you don't necessarily need a script for conversation but you still need to know why are we recording this who is it for what what is the ultimate
goal of this and if you are doing a solo show a bullet point outline list is good enough and then it's like okay tell the uh Hawaii Story boom then you just into telling the story like you would tell a friend and then you're like okay uh I relate it to the major point and then okay what's the next bullet point okay um the Jeep I rented cool I'm going to tell you about the Jeep and how it broke down and all this stuff and what we did to solve that problem blah blah blah hasib
welcome uh how big is the podcast business in Spanish Spanish is a growing Market I don't know I can't give you exact numbers but more and more Spanish speaking podcasts are coming out there and those who are ahead of it now are are going to win um I know 's a lot of even English podcasters that are looking to see how they might be able to get a translation of their podcast to other languages like Spanish uh it depends on where your audience is and how you want to serve them but yeah um definitely awesome
last question here UK cigar reviews what tips would you have for finding new subjects week after week uh AI is a great place to brainstorm I wouldn't just take everything word for word but it's a great place to start so you're not um you're not starting from blank and so using excuse me Ai and training it to offer okay here's my audience and here's the kinds of things they love what are 20 different podcast ideas that I could uh run off of who are the people in the space that I'm in that I should be
looking to to interview great place to start look at trending topics look at what is hot on social look at the hashtags related to your spaces see what people are talking about what the most popular topics are go into other communities like literal communities like I showed you on LinkedIn and Facebook see what people are talking about see if you can sort by most popular those are signs that those are topics that are of interest and a podcast is a great place to go deeper on them so thank you so much for today everybody I
appreciate you this was absolutely fantastic what a great day to go from interviewing Seth Goden on the same day I get to deliver this and hopefully change a lot of your lives um it's amazing uh investor sewers says I've just passed the 2.5 million downloads Mark with the podcast I created four years ago and I'm still having a lot of fun producing content perfect way to end thank you for that invest tours and congratulations to you congratulations to everybody in fact for all the amazing support and I look forward to uh serving you and Ashley's
