us climb the charts thank you anyway today's stories feature several Tales of creatures and spirits that want to be left alone but if you get too close they may just choose violence now throw a Log on the Fire because the night is still young rebuke from R Strayer 625 of all the freedoms you get in life nothing quite compares to your first car when you finally get the ability to drive yourself wherever you want to go though you feel like the world is yours to explore before the days begin of cursing daily commutes traffic jams
and other drivers all before that you get the special gift of a unique freedom I took every advantage of this that a young man could often just driving for the sake of being able to going wherever I pleased I would skip the turn to go home and just drive off to find new adventures after work so when I found a big four-wheel drive truck for sale I couldn't resist the opportunity to go even more places unrestricted by things like conventional roads and boundaries it was on one of these excursions that I made a life-altering discovery
sometimes boundaries are there for a reason some places don't want you in them and are better left alone it was my Friday at work when I felt the freedom of the open road Ro calling my name in the midst of spraying all the food waste off my boots for my dishwashing job a thought came to me these boots would look a lot better with some dirt on them with that I gleefully snatched my pitiful paycheck from my time card holder and headed to the nearest gas station for a full tank Road snacks and enough caffeine
to jump start a mediumsized yacht I then dug my weathered map out of the glove box of the truck just for reference this took place during the early 2000s so paper maps hadn't fully been replaced by GPS and navigation apps just yet if you wanted to go somewhere you had to figure out how to get there based on a drawing your tracing finger and when all else Fells just asking a gas station attendant where something was located I looked at the map little X's marked off the places I'd already explored I found a fresh area
free of any marks and started to head down the highway towards my next exploration I filled the cab of my Bronco with blaring punk reving in the freedom of no one telling me to turn it down watching the sun go down in the rear view I reached the base of the Foothills an area of sparse Oaks Rolling Hills and best of all lots of minimal maintenance County dirt roads just begging to be explored late at night by a young idiot far too sure of himself and his abilities as an off-road in Enthusiast it was Nightfall
when I found what I'd been searching for the end of the asphalt and the beginning of a gravel road I pulled off the road for a moment to put the truck in four-wheel drive and blazed right past all the yellow warning signs the sky was completely clear and the moon was full and bright enough so that I decided to turn off the headlights for a while and just Cruise the dirt road by moonlight after about an hour of cruising around like that I came to a stream that crossed the road I climbed out of the
cab to see if I could gauge its depth and risk a Crossing in my former car this would have been the end of the road but in my new four-wheel drive truck it should be no problem I chose a shallow part not wanting to get stuck in the Muddy Banks so far from anywhere and flicked the lights back on gunning the motor through the water turns out it was deceptively deeper than my initial assessment had determined water swallowed up the tires and Creek Water began to seep in the bottom of the door apprehension began a
slow crawl into my stomach as the headlights began to dim and the RPMs began to bog down the gurgling exhaust was starting to slow I did emerge on the other side as the water cascaded out of my truck from just about everywhere everywhere the engine resumed its normal Roar as it emerged I let out a victory cry over my music which is exactly when fate decided the scales of my arrogance needed some rebalancing this took the form of my engine coughing sputtering exhaust signaling a slow winding down of RPMs I pressed the pedal to the
floor hoping to Spur the motor on only to be met with the sudden absence of engine noise followed a brief moment later by my radio going silent everything in the truck went dead ah great I said aloud can't get much worse than and fate cut me off again as the truck began a slow backward crawl down the embankment back into the water oh crap I exclaimed as I pressed the brake to the floor slamming my other foot down on the parking brake I was pretty sure it didn't really work anyway but I was attempting to
slow my descent towards the water I grabbed the shifter to throw the truck into park and for a moment the truck did stop at first I was relieved that I'd avoided going back into that water but that was short-lived because those Muddy Banks of the river could not have cared less about the effort I'd made to stop it I was starting to slide sideways towards the stream I tried fruitlessly to turn the wheel trying to straighten out but the mud was slick and momentum carried me the rest of the way back down the passenger side
of my prized possession submerged back into the Muddy Waters of the stream I tried to start the truck again but all I heard was a lazy cranking sound that spoke of a low battery and little hope I tried again this time I got a dull clicking noise that told me I would not be driving myself home tonight I sat back in my seat at an uncomfortable angle and began to wonder how long I'd been driving since I'd last seen a gas station or even a home that looked occupied I opened my door to get out
momentarily grateful that I wasn't on the side with the water apparently fate decided that a little more balance was in order because I expected my feet to land on the gentle squish of mud instead encountered the Slick surface of a moss covered rock the inclin angle gave me no time time to even put my hands out to catch myself as I slipped I landed on the bank with a wet Flack I put one hand down and turned myself over I then put my hands beneath me to get into a sitting position I wiped mud from
my face but doing so with mud covered hands wasn't achieving much but I was able to see through one eye my single eye afforded me a clear enough view of my current state filthy would be an understatement I tried to scoot down a bit to the water's edge to try and rinse some of the mud off my face at least as soon as that attempt began I started to mimic my own truck just moments before I lost my grip on the Slick mud and began to slide down toward the water with no control over my
momentum just as my feet hit the water I shot out a hand and grabbed onto the truck only to grab the still hot exhaust pipe my lesson in humility continued as I pulled my burning hand to my body to slide the rest of the way into the stream now the cool water felt good on my burned hand but was a small condolence to the utter embarrassment and humiliation I felt sitting in the Stream up to my chest near the bumper of my truck sitting there I now figured there wasn't much point in trying to preserve
any hope to try to stay even remotely dry I dipped my face below the surface to rinse the mud out of my eyes using using my unburned hand I began to shuffle awkwardly toward the bank looking around for a way out of my little Ravine of mud I spotted a tree a little ways away its roots had been exposed by the running water and I figured it could be a rudimentary ladder to escape with I sort of swam scooted over to the roots looking for a few sturdy looking ones and footholds my burned hand throbbed
in pain the moment I brought it out of the water and I knew it wasn't going to be much use for climbing I found a few promising branches and started a cautious Ascent up the roots making slow progress up the ridge of the little Ravine about halfway up I stopped in a sort of resting spot to put my burning hand against my soaking shirt for a bit of temporary relief from the burning pain I gathered up a bit more will and continued the three appendage climb I managed to heave myself up over a sturdy tree
route near the top pulling the bulk of my weight over it with a sigh of relief I then became aware of a sound getting closer to me soft steps accompanying the wet sounds of Earth I looked up trying to ascertain where the sounds were coming from but could see nothing the moon was full with the light pollution nearly non-existent out here I should have been able to see someone or something approaching but my eyes could not pick up on any movement around the top of the ridge but then they fell on the loose wet Earth
directly in front of me as I watched two Footprints form in the soil but there was no body there to make them before the footprints were done forming deep Long slashes grew in space in front of the toes as if whatever I wasn't seeing had claws tipping each of the digits of its foot I felt the growl before I could hear it a low Rumble reverberated in the bones of my chest the low lizard part of my brain gave a shriek of Terror that my human mouth translated as a dull what the and then unseen
Force Hit me hard across the face catching me under the chin that was enough to make me see stars my head was suddenly swimming my legs relaxed against my will then my weight had been lifted from its perch upon the tree root and with my legs no longer communicating with my brain I fell backwards through the open air back into the water below I was plunged into the muddy stream striking rocks and debris at the bottom of the creek bed the pain jolted me out of my haze enough to put my feet in the proper
direction down allowing me to stand up coughing up dirty Creek Water and stumbling for footing the the stream wasn't flowing with anything like force but even the gentle tug of it was enough to encumber any effort I made for sturdy footing with all the grace of a toddler I moved to try to brace myself against the tailgate of my truck using it to steady myself I tried to trot up the embankment seeking the shelter of the cab the idea was get to safety and lock yourself in I made it to the driver's side of the
bed of the truck when I heard the wet sounds of Earth coming down the slope towards me even my blurred vision could see two tracks forming down the side of the Ravine sliding in my direction with a third track forming just behind it four deep furrows in the earth just off to one side of the two tracks my mind barely registered what I was looking at before Force hit me squarely in the chest my hand had been so tightly gripped to the tailgate it popped open with the before I was sent back into the silty
Waters of the creek I landed closer to the opposite Bank this time not so much standing out of the waters but just trying to keep my head out of them to keep myself from screaming and inhaling while underwater I tried to struggle back towards the implied safety of my truck when the water around me rippled with the growl again I could see it dancing menacing patterns across the surface of the water the growl coalesced into something that sounded like a word no a warbling voice spoke that made tiny droplets of water jump from the water's
surface there wasn't a single trace of anything human in that voice I began making my way to the opposite bank but mostly away from whatever was using that awful sound for a voice I chanced a glance over my shoulder expecting to see see the water splashing about as whatever it was made its way towards me intent on finishing the job instead my truck rocked slightly the bed making sounds as if someone had stepped into it using the tailgate as a step that's when I caught the only actual sight of my attacker two huge luminous yellow
eyes opened in the air about 7 ft above the bed of my truck from nowhere and stared directly at me blinking slowly the black dots of its pupils fixed me in place for a moment before fear took the rains and kicked me into motion I crawled to the opposite Bank it slope had a far less difficult incline and was studded with dry Rock to Aid in my rapid but excruciating Ascent I coughed and sputtered my way up the bank gasping for air in between gags of nausea due to the sharp pain I felt in my
chest I turned my head again to look back over my shoulder waiting for those eyes to appear in front of me and be the last thing I saw on this Earth but they remained fixed hovering above the bed of my truck just watching me make my Hasty departure despite the protest from the aching chest I made my way crawling on hands and knees I had made it to the top of the opposite side of the ravine the eyes closed or disappeared I couldn't be sure which but the bed of my truck lurched again and I
watched his Footprints appeared going back up the side of that bank mercifully heading back from where they presumably came I can't say I felt relieved a dozen distinct pains and the vague promise of more to come once the adrenaline wore off made relief a distant thought and one last demonstration of of the arrogance of Youth I tried to throw myself up onto my feet but fate brought the ground up to meet my stupid face again that night I passed out right there a low rumbling sound roused me into panic-stricken awareness I tried to get to
my feet but I felt a stabbing wave of Agony that thing came back I thought it came back but no the noise belonged to an ATV which was parked a few feet away from my impromptu resting place along the bank a very unhappy looking man Switched Off the machine dismounted and started to walk towards where I lay in the dirt I made a feeble attempt at an apologetic face before his weathered tan face was only inches from mine tried to cross that Creek didn't you he didn't exactly look angry when he pulled his face away
from mine get up you idet he spat but almost softly I began to explain how that might not be happening anytime soon when he grabbed me by the arm and nearly took it for a souvenir as he hauled me to my feet in one fluid Motion in the early Dawn light of what would otherwise be a beautiful morning I let out a sound accompanied by a selection of words that made all the nearby birds leave the area for the time being if not for the foreseeable future the man was at least 6 in shorter than
me not that it made a difference as I was bent so far over clutching the straps of his overalls in each hand as I tried to keep any more sounds from escaping my lungs due to the fresh waves of pain it brought he ought not to try to cross that Creek he drawled pulling my hands off the overalls leaving me with hands clutching my own thighs for support it don't like strangers he said as he walked back towards his ATV you wait right here spell going to call up Greg in his rig he'll be along
in a while to pull you out he said in a thick country accent and without saying another word he mounted the ATV and drove off down a path I couldn't even see the night before I stood there stooped over for a moment until I was sure I wasn't going to black out again I lurched over to the edge of the little Ravine I looked down into the miniature Valley I took in a sight that only added to my confusion my truck was no longer on the other side it was on my side of the stream
pointed outwards like it was as ready to leave as I was I ran through the events in my head trying to recall if there was a piece missing where I'd managed to get the truck moved in some fashion I walked over to the driver's side which was out of the water and took in a sight that left a sick feeling in my stomach two large dents had been pushed into the side of my truck from the driver's side as if something had pushed my 3/4 ton truck across the creek bed by nothing more than its
own strength that wasn't possible I thought I then glanced over to the opposite side I could see the slide marks from my trucks descent into the waters after it had died and just above I could see three sets of tracks in the drying mud two deep indents and a set of four small furrows whatever that was truly wanted nothing to do with me or anything about me on its land we call it Venom from Mom of creepy kids before I start I want to let everyone know that that prior to this occurrence my husband and
I were agnostic however this experience sent us on a new spiritual path it was definitely a weird night for us due to my husband's job we move every few years this past move brought us into the historic triangle in Virginia we'd been here for about a year when we decided that a camping trip was in store for our family C and I have instilled a love for nature in our boys M and L so a weekend of camping and fishing was a huge Plus for them when we camp we typically do Backwoods camping you know
off the beaten path where our phones hardly have a signal and other people are few and far between we found a clearing that was the perfect spot to see all the stars the moon and a stream from just outside our tent as C and I went about making the fire and putting up the tent M and L were happy as can be climbing trees and throwing a tennis ball with our dogs it was shaping up to be a typical camping trip after supper C and I decided s'mores were in order what's a camping trip without
them after all after a little too much sugar and a quick rinse of their faces and hands Al and D were put into the tent to start getting their sleeping bags out and getting ready for a story The Shoemaker and the elves was the story of choice for the night as it was most nights so I went into the tent to get them settled telling them their story with all the funny voices included I gave them a few snuggles kisses more snuggles and our usual good night ritual I told them I would be out by
the fire with Dad I got a around of love yous then headed out to see my husband he was sitting at his camping chair drinking a beer and just looking out at the night completely relaxed we started to make some jokes occasionally peeking in to see the boys just enjoying our time and nature recently I've been working on myself and with that some great childhood memories have been popping up I was more than happy to share them with my boys and husband I was telling c a particularly funny memory that involved my grandpa when C
suddenly said hush for a second I thought rude but then I noticed it too everything around us had gone completely quiet like the world had put on noise cancelling headphones you could still hear the stream nearby but the volume went from a six to a two no crickets no cicas no owl Hoots or batwing flaps I looked at C wide-eyed and he pointed to the tent and mouthed get the boys get to the car we both stood up and loaded the very sleepy and grumpy boys into the vehicle our dogs followed closely behind cowering then
going into Sentry mode with the boys in the car our dogs are very docile and sweet so when this happened we kicked it into high gear C and I set about putting out the fire and shoving everything we had into the trunk of my SUV still hearing the world muffled and quiet we then went to take down the tent when we heard the dogs growling a noise that is completely foreign to them I looked at C he had his hand on his holster and I immediately turned to jump in the SUV to drive we all
were in the car sand tent see what do you want to do about the tent something's out there but leaving our stuff in the woods gives me a bad feeling well honey how about we just put the seats down flat make it comfortable in here we'll stay in here and in the morning we'll pack up and head home it's probably just some foxes or a big cat so it's best to stay in here and let them do their thing okay see I guess that's what we'll do I don't like the fact that the dogs are
acting like that though given me the creeps we attempted to get everyone as comfortable as we could in our SUV then drifted off into an uncomfortable sleep at around 2:30 or 3:00 a.m. I was woken up by our pit mix growling low standing over his boys teeth bared hackles up I then woke up C hey see something's outside the car upsetting Ben and I feel like I'm being watched let's just start the car and turn the headlights on maybe when you see it's just a fox or a big cat you can go back to sleep
I did just that and what we saw was not a big cat or some cute little fox it was something from a different plane I saw what I thought was a shadow of a tail I relaxed and thought yep just a fox until I took another look the shadow looked like it was Dripping black sludge I wiped my eyes and put on my glasses uh see am I really seeing this C turned his head towards the back where our tent was either that's the biggest Fox I've ever seen or that's some kind of nightmare fuel
it really is hard to describe what it was but I'll try think of Venom from Spider-Man the drippy black sludge that Nets together and seems to be moving to keep up with the body it was on all fours with its long tongue peeking out like a snake every few seconds its mouth when it opened was lined with sharp yellowing teeth and its eyes were Beady and completely white no that is definitely not a fox Al we need to leave I don't like the fact it's sniffing where we were just sleeping and sitting the SUV's brake
lights illuminated Venom and the days of camping were done for me the sight of it taking its front claw and scratching across the side of the tent still gets me c put the car and drive and started to drive away slowly so as to not draw attention away from what it was doing see I think it sees us moving the car I said right as Venom's head snapped towards us luckily for us we knew where the tire path was so we could drive out but the entire way Venom ran next to the car in and
out of trees by the time we hit an actual paved Road it was almost Sunrise I was so glad to see the first Rays as we drove out of that area we noticed Venom retreating deeper into the dark Forest we have not been back camping don't plan on it either getting chased by something I thought was a demon has put me off of it for at least a few more years that night my husband and I encountered something that we hope no one will ever have to see the Wrath of the snub-nosed giant of Florida
from Mason Bronco it was no more than 2 years ago and I remember it as if it were yesterday it was in the midst of deer season in Florida early November no later than the 5th I was very excited to get my personal best Florida Buck I always got up at 5:30 a.m. packed a good lunch in my Savage 30 o 6 with two boxes of ammo since in Florida we do have black bears I would drive 3 hours straight to get to this one spot that nobody ever hunted not from what I'd seen I
would later find out why once I got to this particular spot I'd sit down and wait hours upon hours but that year I never found anything except for a bad conscience after the sun started to go down a little I decided to head back to my truck that's when I I stopped dead in my tracks I locked eyes with something that I can only identify as a bear at first it looked like a Grizzly until it stood up it stood at a monstrous 20 ft tall 15 ft to the shoulder it looked like it was
pushing 8,000 lb it had a large patch of fur around its neck that went all the way down its back like the man of a lion the only thing that b bothered me Was Not only was it tall but its face was very short like a short-faced bear that was supposed to be extinct Millions upon millions of years ago I think I found out that day that that wasn't the case this thing was standing up like a person as it faced towards me the sheer fear and thought of this thing coming at me prepared me
to get ready to fire off around but it didn't it's like it knew exactly what a gun was was ever since that day I saw that monster I've always carried two guns with me a primary and a secondary apparently I wasn't the only one who had seen this thing everybody claims to have seen a short-faced bear that somehow survived all these years and adapted to survive in the harsh Florida weather a week after seeing this monster I went back with a bigger gun mostly considered an elephant rifle my 600 Nitro Express I never found the
thing again but I swear I found tracks that were about 20 in long and 14 in in diameter I looked at the trees and I saw claw marks which stood out to me it had five claw marks on a tree that looked like it was hit by a chainsaw the claw marks were a good 6 in deep into it after another month or so the sheer over for thinking of seeing this thing again disappeared for a while because I eventually found out my neighbor's prized racing horses were killed and shredded by a very large animal
the authorities were called trying to get them to trap this thing but unfortunately that never happened the creature was like a ghost one minute there the next minute gone the neighbor told me that the thing stood 20 ft tall but was so black you couldn't actually see it at night the look on the sheriff's face was that of fear he looked like he knew what the thing was and knew it was a problem and couldn't do anything about it most folks say it's an animal so it's going to do what it needs to do to
survive but for people like my neighbor my parents and several other land owners and Hunters who have livestock they see it as a past and a danger something we shouldn't allow to to kill their livestock or possibly people folks I grew up with who didn't have guns or even like them even started to carry after a while a lot of hunters out there have seen this thing too some people claim they've shot at the thing I think it's still out there maybe it's getting bigger more aggressive if it's got the power to kill four horses
I wonder if it's a bear at all Iowa Backwoods from James F I live in Iowa close to the Nebraska border the story I have for you goes like this I was picking up my buddy from a party around 2:00 a.m. in August of 2021 we were headed back to his place taking shortcuts on gravel and dirt roads up ahead a raccoon was crossing the road I slowed down to let it pass because I had just finished repainting the front bumper on my trunk the raccoon was going across when all of a sudden this animal
this creature maybe 7 to 8 ft tall with gray skin missing patches of fur and long arms just bolted across the road behind the raccoon my buddy screamed and began to freak out which was proof to me that I wasn't just seeing things I bolted going 100 plus on tight gravel roads and dirt roads as soon as we arrived at his house we got out and ran up to the door my body was pretty sober now and all we heard was a scream which sounded like a mountain lion mixed with an elk or maybe a
woman at this point we were both scared we spotted a tall human figure on the Terrace on the opposite side of his barn we ran inside and armed ourselves I had a 556 caliber rifle and he had a 45 pistol we were both tremendously scared and didn't sleep a wink that night the next night we weren't home when suddenly his mom called him to say that the cow and the Goat had been killed slaughtered by some large animal it didn't appear to be a mountain lion because whatever had killed them had just left them there
torn apart I have more experiences similar to this one night we had three friends and their girlfriends over as well I'll refer to them by letters we were all upstairs when I started to hear a tapping on his window he sleeps on the second floor of an old farmhouse so it's a good 15 ft up the tapping kept happening in threes tap tap tap tap tap tap it repeated a few times I stealed myself and went outside to check if there was a branch or something hitting the window there was absolutely nothing near the window
after this we didn't pay any mind to it and we all went to bed the next incident was probably the most terrifying I've ever experienced g j and I were playing paintball in the woods close to his house and it was a blast I yelled that it was getting dark at one point and we should probably get on home get a fire going for the party we were hosting Jay met up with me and we were heading back together when we noticed G was still behind so we went back and found G hiding in a
ditch trembling we both asked G what was wrong he said he had heard me say something so he started to walk towards the voice he got close and heard me say Come Close I'm over here but he said it sounded like me but also not like me there was a Darkness to it so we turned around and began to run when he saw something in front of him something tall skinny with long arms he ran as fast as he could towards his home when he fell in the ditch and curled up like a ball that's
when Jay and I found him we made it back home with them and then we heard that scream G and I had heard a few weeks back that's when Jay said he was done and decided to leave I stopped going to his house at night and I'm still scared of what's in those woods I don't want to find out humans don't have ey Shine from casy fer this is a story that my papa told my cousins and me probably around 5 years ago anyone who has known my papa knows that he is one of those
Southern Baptist preachers of fire and brimstone a very religious man indeed but being from Louisiana of course he likes to hunt and fish same as his kids and grandkids and even the new great grandkids we just can't get enough of the outdoors my papa and his best friend Benny were on a fishing trip in the late summer if you've ever been to Louisiana during the late summer months then you know you better have plenty of hydration and plenty of mosquito spray this is important later on in the story they had a camp on Bayou laush
which is home to the rare Louisiana black bear as well as Gators raccoons AP possums and many other species after a long day of fishing and cleaning their freshly caught fish the best part is getting to eat your Fresh Catch so that's exactly what Papa and Benny did after their supper they sat and shared stories with each other probably hunting and fishing Tales like any regular camping story eventually they went to bed getting some rest for the next day somewhere around 1 or two in the morning Papa woke up to go use the restroom he
did his business and started to head back until he heard something a whispering Mumble along with the sounds of rumaging and walking he got closer to the window to listen to what this unknown thing was doing around this time Benny woke up to the ruus too curious they grabbed a flashlight from the table and shown it out the window to their surprise they saw a man a skinny pale man with visible bones and completely nud Papa thought to himself why would someone be out here at night fully naked especially during these late summer months they
almost felt bad for the man or at least that's what they thought it was they watched him or it rummage around outside of their Camp they then both agreed on telling the man off they were on a fishing trip and they hadn't brought any guns they resorted to using a broom handle resembling the barrel of a rifle or shotgun unfortunately Ely the window they'd seen this man through wasn't able to be opened so they both proceeded outside through the front door and made their way around to the rear of the camp when they reached the
back side of the camp Benny shined the light at the man and papa pointed their makeshift shotgun at him then said son this is private property and you need to leave now to their Terror this thing turned around and stood up from its crouched position it stood over 7 ft tall with long disproportioned limbs thin torn lips that seemed to hide Jagged teeth no nose and those eyes human eyes don't reflect light the way animal eyes do but when the light was shined on this creature they reflected an orangish yellowish color reminiscent of a gator
or frog Papa proceeded to lower the broom saying what the heck is that at that moment the thing let out a low and deep hiss then bounded off on all fours back into the woods Benny turned and ran back into the camp with Papa not far behind they both agreed they would be leaving the next morning when daylight finally broke through the window blinds they packed up and left the camp only returning during hunting season papos said he never had another encounter with a creature like that but often heard the same low hiss at night
during certain Summers they sold that camp about 3 years after the initial encounter due to Benny's medical condition he hasn't said anything else about that night but he constantly reminds me to be safe and to watch my surroundings carefully while in the woods to anyone visiting Bayou laush just remind yourself that humans don't have ey shine and never go into the woods at night unarmed motorcycle experience from car lover 208 this happened when I was around 18 I had some things on my mind so I decided to go out for a midnight ride one night
I started my Kawasaki Ninja up told my parents I would be back eventually and went off halfway down the highway I heard a hissing sound startled and concerned I pulled over to the side of the road I checked my bike but nothing appeared wrong I took my helmet off to get a better look there it went again that hissing noise but it wasn't coming from my bike I looked behind me to the tree line there was a big figure standing there much taller than myself it was black and had a white face it looked like
it thought it was hidden and I then Heard a Voice come here boy I grabbed my keys and tried to start the bike but nothing happened I heard the voice again come here son I swear it sounded like my dad but how could it be all the way out here I tried again to start the bike this time it responded it started and I sped at more than 100 miles per hour down the road the following day my mom told me they found a body in that area I was horrified that could have been me
the next night against my better judgment I went to the same place a bit further down though morbid curiosity had me wanting to see it again but I knew that was a bad idea I ended up going to a hotel to book a room that night I couldn't sleep and then it got creepy I heard a knock on my window in the middle of the night followed immediately by the sound of my bike alarm going off what in the world is going on I thought I went down to the parking lot to check it out
my bike was fine the alarm wasn't even on as I was about to head back inside I glanced into the night and I swear I saw that thing again worse yet there were two of them and the second one was even taller they were just watching me from a distance I booked it back to my room and just stared at the ceiling when I heard an earpiercing shriek I covered my ears I even put on my helmet which made me feel safer as soon as daylight night broke I went home and told my parents I
was surprised when my dad told me he had experienced that white figure before but all he said beyond that was to stay away from it and quit trying to get a look at it the day after that I went to a friend's place I brought my dogs and we went for a walk in the woods you may think it's silly to go out in the woods after all this but in my defense I did didn't think the forest around my friend's place was even connected to those woods but I think they were we walked eventually
the sun went down when it got dark my dogs didn't seem quite happy one had his hackles raised the other was between my legs with his tail tucked thankfully this time I'd brought a firearm in case we saw a bear or mountain lion suddenly there was a scream the most alien inhuman scream you can imagine I quickly raised my gun when the figures appeared in the nearby trees my friend pulled his pistol out of his pocket and fired off four rounds but it didn't seem bothered because right after it lunged towards us surprised I shouted
and fired the shotgun at the same time we then turned and ran we heard footsteps rapidly coming up behind us we put the dogs into my super markv and high tailed it I never ever went near those woods again so have you ever heard or seen a creature like this if you have any idea I'm listening ghosts can follow from Clark Merton every summer my family traveled across the country to visit our relatives in Minnesota we had moved far away to Washington State when I was five and my parents were determined to keep our ties
to our family strong it was a two-day road trip and I grew tired of driving for hours and hours in the backseat of the 1972 Pontiac Catalina but I also looked forward to seeing my cousins and investigating their 100-year-old Farm we explored every part of that farm we climbed into the Old Red Barn to play tag in the ha Loft we pride open the doors of several old railroad box cars used as storage containers they were filled with rusted items cans and old furniture stored away and long forgotten we climbed trees played Kick the Can
rode bikes up and down the Old Farm roads sometimes we braved their dark and damp basement one time I was dared to go to the middle of the room turn off the lights and count to 100 before running back up the steps with a scream I ran up the Steep steps to the safety of the lit hallway within the first few moments most of the things we did were part of our yearly routine I loved it I never wanted to divert from these Adventures every time I stayed the visit was always memorable made me feel
like I still belonged to the farm life even though I'd moved a thousand miles away it was comfortable and I looked forward to reliving those fond memories every summer we did this every year until I turned nine that year my dad hurt his back at work and he couldn't travel when I finally came back to Minnesota in the summer I had turned 12 things were different then I was a pre-teen and the things we'd done as kids were now not as school instead of exploring the farm I wanted to watch the black and white TV
listen to Billy Joel records and talk sports things had changed I had changed I was bored that's when my cousin told me about a forgotten graveyard he had discovered of course I had to see that the plan was to set out in the morning hike across the Minnesota Landscape and reached the graveyard by mid-afternoon we would then be able to return home before it got dark we got up before everyone else made sandwiches and headed out we traveled through corn fields quaries and wooded fields we ate our sandwiches by a small Lake there are 10,000
lakes in Minnesota many without names a cool fact for you we finished our lunches and headed on the graveyard was hidden under a humongous rose bush I carefully entered the canopy and saw the first Tombstone it was dated in the 1800s I soon saw the second and third tombstones everyone buried had the same last name too so it was a family graveyard Farmers from many years ago had Sanctified it by burying their kin over the years it was now forgotten and overgrown my cousin pointed to an area I hadn't yet explored I saw seven small
white tombstones with Lambs above the inscriptions they were children who had died from the same disease likely small poox or yellow fever I was saddened as I imagined the pain the parents must have felt forced to bury their own children I felt embarrassed too to have Disturbed their peaceful rest with a sobering silence we headed back to the farm we retraced our steps through the woods the quaries and finally the cornfields everything looked different in the shadows of the Setting Sun I was getting a little worried that we wouldn't make it home before it got
dark I was so excited to finally see the farm in the distance a thunderstorm was brewing as we walked into the kitchen at supper I answered questions about the hi with the bare minimum details we ate supper and then headed up to his bedroom something was different though I could feel it I hadn't just gone on a hike I'd stepped into a sacred place I didn't want to talk about it I just wanted to listen to music and go to bed I woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of Moaning dark
storms always rolled through Minnesota on the summer as cold air masses Chase humid air with thunder and lightning but this didn't sound like a storm I looked out the window of the darkened bedroom the wind blew through the farmyard objects were noisily moving back and forth then the lightning flickered above the ground revealing the landscape for a split second in that flash of light I could see something I was ConEd minced I saw children darting back and forth in the grass I woke up my cousin and ran back to the window the lightning flickered again
and he saw it too there were children dashing from place to place getting closer to the house I didn't believe what I was seeing I wanted to run out of the room but I couldn't move obviously it was our imagination but why would we both be seeing it if we ran to get help from our parents they would only point out that we had been to a graveyard and it was now playing tricks with our minds we waited until the lightning and thunder moved on before climbing back into bed the moaning died away with the
storm cool air was now coming into the room and we drifted off to sleep with the lights on I woke up in the dark either the power had gone out or our parents had turned the lights off while we were sleeping I didn't move I was not about to go check the light switch the moaning had definitely stopped which was good but then I was suddenly overwhelmed with this feeling of sadness I wasn't sure why all those children dying the parents must have been devastated that's all I could think about then I suddenly became aware
of movement in the room it couldn't be my cousin he was asleep in the bed next to me hearing the sounds of footsteps running back and forth across the floor made my blood turn to eyes was this a dream the footsteps continued into the night my cousin didn't wake up so I was on my own once again sadness was all I could feel even more than the fear I could only think of the pain of the children and the parents I'd experienced in that graveyard I did the only thing I could think to do I
whispered out loud I'm sorry I don't know if I was sorry for their pain or for disturbing their rest in that abandoned Cemetery but I said it over and over I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry eventually I must have fallen back to sleep sleep I woke up again this time the sun was coming through the window I lay there until my cousin's mom called us down for breakfast we went downstairs and were informed that the power had gone out in the night the weirdest part was our parents asked us something they wanted to know if
