You live in a world that suffered a great alien attack 20 years ago, since then humanity has learned to unite its technology with that of the aliens. However, the creatures return for a new onslaught, stronger than ever. What would you do?
Do you think you could survive? I think not! In this video from Defeating Movies we 'll follow the Earth's efforts to defend the Planet from an even greater threat, and I'll show you why you wouldn't survive “Independence Day: Resurgence”.
We started by seeing a spaceship receiving a distress call from planet Earth. Then we see the former President of the United States, Thomas Whitmore, waking up in his house and we can see several drawings of a Sphere made by him, scattered around the room. Soon the current president, Elizabeth Lanford reads a speech, written by Patricia Whitmore the former president's daughter, where she says that the nations around the globe were at peace, as they had all united for the greater good and that the reverse engineering in spaceships and alien weapons , made it possible for technology to evolve a lot, to the point of allowing them to travel at unimaginable speeds defying gravity and making the planet safer.
After that, Captain Dylan Hiller arrives, stepson of Captain Steve, who died due to an accident with an experimental ship. Which is a shame in my opinion, because he will definitely be missed. The boy greets the president, hugs Patricia, and the girl asks him to be kind when he meets her boyfriend Jake at the moon base.
But Dylan doesn't respond. Then we see Lieutenant Jake, on the moon with his friend Charlie, piloting one of the tugs that takes a new weapon to be installed on the moon base, but an accident happens and the weapon begins to plummet towards the base. Commander Jiang Lao orders all tugs to leave the site.
However, Jake refuses and manages to avert disaster by using his tug to support the weight of the giant equipment and put it back in place. And let's just say that getting distracted in such a situation is not recommended at all, because even with the low gravity existing on the moon, the chances of the tiny tugboat being able to sustain the weight of a structure of that size was very small, even using the fusion thrusters. Causing the military installation to be destroyed even before the aliens arrived, and the fact that Lao didn't send the other tugs to help Jake once the guy's plan started working, makes me think he has some secret desire to be finished in moon like a hero but it would probably just be a silly death, imagine getting crushed by a giant gun on the moon, why did you tell everyone to drop the gun and wait for it to crush you Plus the fact that the gun was falling on top from the base and everyone in the place stay calm is proof of what good training does, or a script, right.
Later, already in the base's hangar, Jake is scolded by Commander Lao, and is temporarily suspended, after taking the blame for the accident and also for having damaged the tug. After that we see the new Area 51, General Joshua Adams arrives and is informed that the aliens trapped there, who spent 20 years in a catatonic state, are now agitated. The general then asks to speak with director David Levinson, but is informed that he is incommunicado.
We board a convoy and discover that David is in Central Africa on a UN mission. Along with Floyd Rosenberg, a government inspector assigned to follow him. The convoy then arrives in a territory of rebel forces and they are greeted by Doctor Catherine Marceaux, with whom Levinson had an affair.
They have a conversation, and the woman takes the opportunity to take pictures of a stone, where the same drawing made by the former president was engraved. Then Catherine reveals that the people of that region fought a war on land with the aliens for 10 years and that's why they had a connection with extraterrestrials greater than anything they've ever seen. Soon the two reach the top of a hill, and see an alien spaceship with the lights on.
This causes the director to question how they had activated it. At that time Dikembe Ubuntu appears behind them and says that the ship activated itself two days ago. Then they go to the ship, David explains that that was the only one that landed in the last invasion, and we discovered a big hole right under the structure, and Ubuntu says that the spaceship was digging and that they stopped at the exact moment the mothership had been blown up.
Okay, the fact that a ship of that size is abandoned on earth, would make me at least worried, for sure a ship like that, could carry alien fetuses in a kind of incubator, very similar to what we see in the war of tomorrow, yes this is a spoiler, if you haven't seen the movie, take the opportunity to watch the video here on the channel, these incubators would be able to generate new aliens to fight in a more extensive war, and these incubators would probably not be in an easily accessible part of the ship . The group enters the spaceship and sees the distress signal sent into space on a holographic screen. Levinson says that the day they stopped the first invasion, they were able to identify a signal sent into space, but they hadn't found its source.
Doctor Catherine judges, from what they can see on the screen, that someone appeared to have answered the distress call. Back at the base on the moon, we see Jake talking to Patricia, who is his fiancée, he talks about him not being able to stand there anymore, when there is a spike in energy and the boy says that it has happened with a certain frequency. Later, Patricia tells her fiance that she found Dylan at the White House and he is frustrated to learn that he was stuck on the moon, while Dylan shook the president's hand.
The girl then reminds you that he almost killed Will Smith's son, and that they needed to solve it, but a new power surge happens and makes the call drop, and you there thinking that with alien technology the internet would no longer crash. Jasmine, Dylan's mother, works in a hospital, and over the phone, we see her asking the boy to take care of himself. Then we see a presentation of the international legacy squad, led by Dylan and bound for the moon.
The squadron arrives at the moon base and when they land in the hangar, you wonder what happened with the alien technology, since even the fighters managed to reach the moon, the design remains practically the same, and they don't seem to have that much firepower. so, we soon see that one of the pilots, named Rain Lao is Commander Jing's niece, and Charlie falls in love with the young woman. After that, he runs to Jake, to talk about the girl's beauty and at that time Dylan appears at the scene.
Jake gets up, tries to leave, but the captain stops him and then punches him, and let's just say he was a little more aggressive than his father, if you know what I mean. Commander Lao arrives at the same time and asks what was going on. Jake replies that he had slipped because the floor was too slippery and walks away.
Moments later, he is in his quarters, when Charlie appears to try to comfort him, but the boy says that he had really gone too far by almost killing Dylan and we see that during training Jake caused his and the captain's airship to collide, when attempting a dangerous maneuver. We then head back to Area 51, where Doctor Isaacs goes to visit Doctor Okun, who is in a coma. Which must be a miracle, since in the first movie he either died, or clearly this guy doesn't know how to check a person's heartbeat.
Suddenly Doctor Okun wakes up and we go to the control room, where it is shown that the military base on the planet Saturn has been destroyed and General Adams orders the red alert. After that he calls his wife and tells her to go to her sister's house. Back in Africa, Doctor Catherine tries to get Principal Levinson to see how important the orb symbol they found is, but he doesn't pay much attention.
Then David is informed about the Saturn base and asks to speak with President Landford. Catherine insists on showing the sphere symbol, saying that all the patients she interviewed expressed the same emotion upon seeing it. Ubuntu interrupts them and says that the night the spacecraft appeared, he had a hallucination and shows them a drawing, which he made that night.
Levinson notices alien characters on the walls and wonders how Ubuntu deciphered so much of the extraterrestrial language. The man replies that he was being hunted and to face them, he needed to know as much of the creatures as possible. Back at the moon base, Jake tries to fix the tugboat, while Charlie tries to learn Mandarin, to impress Rain.
The pilot appears just at that time, the boy goes to her to try to call her out, but is interrupted by a huge portal materializing. Commander Lao orders them to prepare the main weapon and call the security council. Then a spherical ship leaves the portal.
Then the Secretary of Security recommends that they attack and President Lanford and some other members of the Security Council agree, even with Director Levinson advising to wait, as the design of the sphere, did not match the technology of the harvests, which are the aliens of the first strike, but his considerations are ignored and they resolve to use their main weapon to attack. And here is a big stupidity, because as David said they could be starting a war with another alien civilization and then Earth would be screwed, because it barely managed to defend itself against an advanced civilization, let alone two. The correct thing would be to do what Levinson said and try to talk to the crew of that ship, before going out shooting at a ship that doesn't seem the least bit offensive.
After targeting the spherical ship, the director recommends going to where it landed, to see who they had shot down. The Secretary agrees, but says that David has to go to Washington for the 4th of July celebration. He retorts and Landford orders the man to be at the celebration and only then go to the ship's wreckage.
She then retreats, leaving the Secretary of Security to mock David, who hangs up on him. And clearly Earth doesn't seem to be the least bit worried about the destroyed base on Saturn, as they can't stop celebrating a holiday, while a new invasion could be about to happen. On the moon, Jake decides to steal one of the tugboats and fly to Earth to get David, with the help of Charlie, who at first tries to get him to give up on the idea, but ends up giving in.
Previously he had told Patricia that he was caught in 2 minutes when he did this with the tugboat to visit her, but now for sure this idea will work. At that time, President Landford makes a speech, where she tells about what happened on the moon, while former President Whitmore watches with his daughter and his private security. As soon as the woman finishes speaking, the ex-head of state gets angry, turns off the TV, saying that who they had attacked were not the harvests of 20 years ago, and that he needed to warn the world about it.
The security guard says it was time for him to take his medicine, but the man doesn't pay attention and Patricia asks to speak with him alone. Thomas says it was a mistake for his daughter to stop flying to be with him, and that the aliens were coming back and this time they couldn't stop them. Meanwhile, in Africa, Ubuntu arms himself and tells a portrait of his brother that he will avenge him.
Just as Jake arrives with the tug to take the team to the moon. Then we see Director Levinson's father, Julius, giving a talk about his book at a nursing home, and no one there is very interested. Later, Patricia goes to her father's room, realizes he's not there and goes looking for him.
Once in space, the group passes through the debris of the old mothership and then lands, where the sphere-shaped ship had fallen. David and Jake exit the tugboat and find a white orb inside a receptacle. The director asks them to have the laboratory prepared in Area 51.
In Washington, during the celebration of the 4th of July, President Landford makes a speech, in which she pays homage to General Grey, a curious name at least in an alien movie. Then we see the legacy squad making a demonstration and the president asks Dylan what it was like to be on the moon. Only Whitmore appears, goes to the microphone, starts to speak, but is interrupted by a buzzing in his head, which is also felt by Doctor Okun, in area 51.
At that time we see a ship of gigantic proportions reaching the moon. On the tugboat we noticed that Ubuntu suffered the same psychic attack as Whitmore and Okun. The two who are outside rush back to the ship, they barely manage to get inside.
And probably here the chance of them being hit by space debris would be huge, and just being hit by one that is practically instant death. In the area 51 control room, General Adams is informed about the appearance of the ship and that it is more than 4,800 kilometers in diameter. This is roughly the size of the planet Mercury and larger than our moon, which is 3,474 kilometers in diameter.
If this ship simply wanted to end life on Earth, it could start by destroying our Moon, which would cause major environmental disasters, with serious consequences for humanity. Or even taking the Moon out of orbit and causing it to fall to Earth, causing a Moonfall-style apocalypse. After that, the 4th of July celebration is interrupted as Charlie tries to use the tug's claws to grab the receptacle with the Sphere.
As soon as he succeeds, Jake starts the escape from the place, but at a certain moment the vehicle is attracted to the alien spaceship, which, because it is so large, has its own gravity. At the base, Commander Lao orders them to prepare their main weapon and fire. However, the attack has no effect, as it is repelled by the ship's shield.
Dylan, who was leading the Legacy squadron's presentation, asks for permission to attack, but the request is denied. So the commander orders them to fire the main weapon again and at that time the spacecraft counterattacks, destroying the installation completely. Rain sees her uncle explode, goes into shock and almost has her ship hit by one of the wreckage, but is saved by Dylan.
Afterwards the squadron returns to Earth. President Landford then orders them to start the orbital defense system. However, before the weapons come into action, they are destroyed.
Leaving the planet defenseless. And the orbital defense system must have been activated a long time ago, since the base on Saturn had been destroyed and Earth knew it. What's more, after 20 years of the invasion and humans using alien technology, the least you can hope for is that Earth will have a shield similar to that of the alien spaceship and a weapon that has the ability to overcome that same shield.
Then the security guard informs Patricia and the ex-president that Jake had sent a message informing him that he was with David and was heading to area 51. Well, they are definitely heading ashore, but from what I could see these guys are in some trouble, as they were caught in the mothership's own gravity and are completely immobile counting on luck that they won't be hit by anything along the way. On land, Patricia spots Lanford and asks her to take her father with her to Chayene Mountain, which is an underground bunker located in the US state of Colorado, but the man refuses to go.
Then the giant craft enters Earth's atmosphere, causing panic and destruction, while the tug remains trapped in its gravity. We even see something very similar to what happened in the first invasion, where everyone is trying to escape the destruction caused by the gigantic ship, but obviously no one in their path survives, if you live in Asia I'm sorry but you would end up being pulled by the gravity of the ship too. The secretary of security informs the president that the spacecraft will land on the Atlantic Ocean and, because of its size, it will take it from America to Europe.
At the hospital, Dylan's mother prepares to evacuate the place amid the chaos that has ensued. Jake's tug finally breaks free of the ship's gravitational pull and he begins to dodge the rubble of London's devastation. Then we see a treasure hunters ship in the middle of the Atlantic, as the alien spacecraft prepares to land, and soon after Julius is in his boat near the coast, also seeing the spacecraft approach.
After that, Dylan separates from the legacy squad that was flying towards Area 51 and goes to the hospital where his mother is. Jasmine is on top of the hospital with a woman carrying her baby, and Dylan spots her in the distance and informs the retreating helicopters of the women's presence. So one of the aircraft goes there, rescues the girl with the baby, but Jasmine cannot board in time and the boy sees his mother being swallowed, when the building collapses.
On the tugboat, Catherine talks down that her mother used to live in London and Levinson tries to comfort her, soon after he receives a call from his father. Here it is surprising that he still has cell signal, and even more surprising that inside a ship flying over the rubble of a destroyed city he manages to receive a call, even more so with good quality. And even if that was a satellite phone, I also believe that it wouldn't work, because the satellites over that location were probably destroyed and surely the aliens would do something to make it difficult for us to communicate.
So unless technology has evolved enough to create telepathically powered cell phones, I don't see how such a link is possible. The mothership lands, causing a large tsunami, which would likely wipe out much of the coastal population of the Americas, including Brazil. Moments later, former President Whitmore and his daughter arrive at Area 51.
The man says that when Levinson arrives he will need to go to the aliens' prison, as they have to interrogate one of the creatures. At the same moment, Doctor Isaacs enters Okun's room and notices that the old man has drawn symbols referring to the Sphere on all the walls. Then we see Okun arriving at the detention sector, meeting Whitmore and saying that that reaction the aliens were showing was a celebration of the return of their kind.
Silently, the former president goes to a chamber where he isolates himself so that no one can stop him, while bringing an alien to chat. Okay the fact that this guy knows the access codes 20 years later is surreal, I can't believe a government facility kept the same password for 20 years after a complete overhaul, either this happened or his daughter gossiped about the codes to him for some reason unknown, anyway the way this guy used to be alone with an alien is at the very least worrying since it seemed to be something very easy to do and Whitmore doesn't seem to me to be the hacker type. .
. So any crazy person who worked at the base and had In order to have a more intimate chat with the alien, if you know what I mean, I could have easy access to the room and believe me when I say that I would certainly have people like that, since in the first invasion there were people welcoming the aliens. At this exact moment David arrives at the scene and sees the extraterrestrial speaking through the former president.
The creature says that SHE had arrived and that SHE wanted planet Earth. Catherine shows a drawing of the sphere to the ET and asks what it was, but the being shows fear of the drawing and starts finishing Whitmore. A firefight ensues, with the creature dodging the shots and stealing one of the weapons, but Ubuntu draws his swords, slides under the alien, hits him in the back and finishes him as soon as he comes out of the biological armor.
And you can't help but highlight the similarity between these aliens and the ones in the movie War of the Worlds. So we go to a place completely devastated by the tsunami and we notice 4 brothers and 1 dog inside a car. The group find Julius, who is miraculously alive, sitting on top of the boat.
They rescue the old man who was just passed out, and I don't know how he survived that wave and a ship being thrown at him, but who am I to doubt the script's holy armor. At the same time, in an Area 51 hangar, David and Catherine talk about the Sphere's coincidence having appeared just before the Harvests. Then, in the conference room, where General Adams is, we see an infrared image of the alien spaceship, and David notices a point in the center that should be the queen that the ET had spoken about earlier.
Soon after, they show the image of a reconnaissance fighter, in which the spacecraft is seen using its main weapon in the middle of the ocean. So director Levinson concludes that the extraterrestrials were after the Earth's core, and that if they did, the planet would run out of magnetic field and the atmosphere would evaporate, extinguishing life altogether. Okay, these aliens already started digging 20 years ago and there's even a crashed ship there, it's kind of hard to believe they wouldn't use the same hole that already seemed to be a little advanced seriously that the mothership doesn't have a gps no?
And now they've started all over again just to give humanity a little more time to come up with a plan. He then goes on to say that in the last attack the ship in Africa, which was also drilling into the ground behind the Earth's core, was interrupted by destroying the mothership. And that now all they had to do was destroy that ship.
Which is pretty obvious right, if you destroy the mothership, of course the drilling will stop. Hearing this, President Langford orders an immediate attack. A while later, Patricia is in the infirmary with her father, when Jake appears, gives her a hug and says goodbye.
Then he goes to meet Dylan and tries to comfort him over the loss of his mother. The attack plan is passed on to the pilots, and the similarity of this plan to the 1996 plan is absurd, I don't know how they imagine that something like this would work now, since in the past a fighter attack has failed miserably. In the mid-Atlantic, the treasure hunters' boat finds itself close to where the ship is drilling, and we find that in doing so the weapon destroyed the wreck they were exploring.
Leaving men disillusioned. And the fact that they are not pulled by the giant whirlpool formed by the ship is a mystery. And that's when the American government gets in touch with them, as they needed a vessel in the area to monitor the progress of the alien weapon.
The captain of the boat says that for them to do this he wanted 100 million dollars, and to his surprise the government accepts. Then all the men run to their jobs. Later, Julius and the kids are stuck in a mile-long traffic jam.
The old man asks where their parents are and Sam says they went to visit their grandparents in Florida. Then one of the boys asks where the group is going and the old man replies that the best thing would be to go to David. Then we see Doctor Isaacs and Catherine talking about the drawings that Doctor Okun made on the walls of the room, and soon after we see Okun trying to open the sphere, but that doesn't work very well.
At that same moment, the fighters led by Dylan begin to approach the target. Shortly after, an air battle ensues. At one point the young captain is pursued by two alien ships, to escape he and Jake perform a dangerous maneuver, and manage to destroy them.
Seeing that the plan to get to the top of the spacecraft to drop the bombs would not work out, Jake suggests attacking it from the inside. So they invade and none of the small ships follow them and it's at least strange that the ship doesn't have a shield anymore, I know it's piercing the earth's core, but it could deactivate the shield in that part only, protecting the rest of the ship and the earth having a technology that disables the ship's shields doesn't stick, otherwise they would have done it there on the moon, to attack with the laser. .
Then in area 51 former president Whitmore wakes up in his room, says that the queen knew that the bombings were going on and that it was a trap. Which was pretty obvious when they entered the ship so easily and were not followed by anyone. Back at the legacy squadron, the extraterrestrials release an electromagnetic pulse, causing the aircraft to stop working.
With no other option, the pilots ask General Adams to detonate the bombs remotely, even at the cost of their lives. The general asks the president for permission, who accepts, and when he gives the order to detonate, the bombs do not have the expected effect, as they are contained by force fields. Soon after, the base loses contact with the pilots.
At that time another pulse comes out of the mothership, exploding the satellites around the Earth, ending all communications. Then the aliens attack the Cheyenne Mountain, finishing Landford and everyone who was with her and it's a good thing Whitmore didn't accept to go there, otherwise the old man would have died with him. The queen would surely send an attack to Area 51 as well, wiping out the place and destroying any hope for humanity.
Meanwhile in Area 51, Okun begins using a laser weapon to release the Sphere, and General Adams is informed that only 7% of the combat fleet has returned, in addition to the destruction of Cheyenne Mountain, the President, and everyone in the chain of command. command. Thus causing the general to be appointed as the commander-in-chief of the country.
In the base locker room, Patricia is comforted by her father over the loss of her fiancé, and on the road Julius and the children continue their journey to Area 51. Back at the military facility, Whitmore and Levinson find themselves in the hangar, and the ex- president gives an inspirational speech in front of the pilots. At the same moment, Catherine shows Ubuntu alien symbols and asks him to use his knowledge of alien language to try to decipher it.
The man begins by saying that the writings speak of an intergalactic war and an enemy of the Harvests, which they sought to destroy before they were destroyed. After that Catherine talks about a case in Brazil, where a patient of hers described the Sphere as being an enemy, and Ubuntu comes to the conclusion that the enemy of my enemy is my ally. While inside the extraterrestrial spaceship, the pilots fight for survival.
At this exact moment Okun manages to release the Sphere from its cocoon, but it remains disabled. After a while the sphere is finally activated when Floyd decides to get his hands on it. The reaper queen then locates the signal emitted by the alien apparatus and dons her biomechanical armor.
After that, the Sphere tells those present in Area 51 that her species had switched from biological to virtual existence 1000 years ago, and that the harvests invaded her planet, extracted her core, as they had done with countless worlds, and that she she was the only one who survived from her homeland. Finally, he tells that there is a secret planet where refugees from destroyed worlds gather and that there the Sphere teaches a superior technology, which could destroy the Harvests. She also tells that Queen Harvest would locate her signal now that it was activated, saying that no one has ever killed one of them before and that if she was killed the fighter ships would be deactivated and the mothership would leave the planet, called by other queens.
Okay, if no one has ever killed one before, how did she know this would happen? if the Harvests managed to decimate a civilization so advanced that they abandoned biological life for digital life, what hope does humanity have? !
For such a civilization would have to be hundreds of thousands of years more evolved than Earth. And if the Sphere really does have superior technology, why has your planet been taken over? Plus, why the hell haven't they used this technology to wipe out the Harvests once and for all?
Since they knew of the imminent attack of the aliens, they could have come with an army or at least a weapon that would help to destroy the queen and not a walking gps for the queen to destroy. Then the Sphere asks to be destroyed, before it was captured and the location of the refuge planet fell into the wrong hands, you can see how worried she is about humanity, right. However, David suggests tricking the queen by placing the Sphere in an isolated chamber and replicating its signal on a tugboat so it would be intercepted with cold fusion bombs.
Now Acting President Adams says if they do that they will blow up innocent people too, but Levinson says they can use the base shields to contain the blast, and Adams finally agrees to the plan, and I wonder where those shields were in the shelter . of the president? Because the aliens easily got in there.
. . Then the president and David go to a warehouse, where a radar truck is kept.
While in the ocean, the treasure hunters' boat finds that the estimates for the aliens to reach the earth's core were wrong and that instead of 7 hours, the world had approximately 1. 5 hours. So they use an old radio set and try to communicate the information to Area 51.
Then, in the hangar, David explains the plan and the president says that he needs a volunteer to fly the tug, as all the satellites were destroyed they don't would be able to do this remotely. So Patricia volunteers, but her father appears dressed as a pilot and without his beard, and says he will. On the road Julius notices that the gas is running low and sees a school bus, with several children outside.
He then stops the car, asks who was responsible there and one of the boys replies that the driver had abandoned them.
Sam corajosamente, sai do veículo e resgata o animal.
Querendo vingança, a rainha vai atrás dela e no último instante Jake aparece e atira contra a extraterrestre.
