Well, today we are well ahead. We are in chapter 13. Today we talk about gender.

We are missing only the mental gender, which is the last chapter of the book. And then there is the last chapter, which is just aphorisms. Where he comments on certain ideas.

It is complicated, because he puts a lot of ideas to comment on a talk. Each of them gives a huge unfold in different directions. We are specializing in difficult causes.

So today, is there anyone who is coming for the first time? Today? We have new people coming.

I always like to explain that this is a little piece of a poem that the author himself puts in the introduction of this book. So I always try to portray the book, written in 1908 by an anonymous author, makes reference to the Hermetic maxims, copies the Hermetic maxims and comments them. But it is not an old book, it is a book from 1908, of anonymous authorship.

I remind you, when people ask me, how do you trust an anonymous book? I usually say, if he had a name, he would not be more reliable for that. In both cases, he would demand my discernment.

He would demand that I read and examine. And that's what we're trying to do here. This poem, you remember, for those who have already had it, on other occasions, is by an English poet called Eduard Carpenter.

And he takes these few verses as an illustration of what he intends to do in this book. Look. Do not let the flame go out, kept for centuries and centuries, in this dark cave, in this sacred temple, supported by pure ministers of love.

Do not let this divine flame go out. That is, have knowledge and move on. There is a very legitimate concern to leave something for our heirs.

And sometimes, within the culture we receive, we leave material things. Okay, I don't think that's bad. Remember the principle of polarity?

All extremes are touched. All truths are half truths. So material things can be useful in a certain context.

Yes, it is a bit dubious, because on certain occasions they are not useful for much. But anyway, the fact is that after 10, 20 years, it is very difficult for the material goods you left to be a decisive factor in the life of a child. In general, they no longer exist.

Now, after 10, 20 years, the principles you passed are fundamental. Although they have not been understood, but they will connect the dots as life progresses. And they will make a retrospective.

It's not worth seeing again. One day, someone wrote to me and I thought it was very beautiful. She said, I was watching a lecture of yours and recovering the things my father told me.

And now it makes all sense. One day it will make all sense. So the best thing we can leave for those we love is to grow as human beings.

Leave an example of human life. So he says, have the knowledge and pass it on. And more than that, consider all humanity of the future as your children.

This is fundamental. Commit to humanity. Understand it more and more.

This is a knowledge that echoes very strongly until the Renaissance. Then it suffers a relative forgetfulness. And now we are returning to be interested in Ancient Egypt.

But it is Ancient Egypt with the tools of the man of the 21st century. Which has a lot of difficulty in understanding anything symbolic. So it takes things very superficially.

And is subject to the most varied mistakes. Exactly because of that, we are willing to do a study trying to add. Trying to bring some symbols of this book more to the surface.

Two positions that are important to do there. First, we are not pretending to exhaust. It would be absurd to say that we will exhaust Kybalion.

The author himself made only some positions that were up to him. We are making some positions that are up to us. I'm just a philosopher.

Obviously the book must have much more. And what we expect is that, growing humanly speaking, in a few years we take this book again and new doors open. There must be much more there.

So Kybalion is a set of hermetic maxims. Made by a citizen named Hermes Trismegistus. That no one knows exactly when he lived.

2000, 2600 years before Christ. That is, at least a footprint of almost 5,000 years. And who said that the universe had laws behind appearances.

And that if you understood these laws, you would harmonize with life. You would harmonize with the outside world and the interior. You would understand the human condition.

Which is our great challenge at this moment. So, with this goal, we made this reading circle. Which is now approaching the end.

But we never had the ambition to exhaust Kybalion. Kybalion is a very deep book. Hermes Trismegistus.

Nature does not give jumps. Hermes Trismegistus is not someone that people of our level could exhaust. And for that I draw your attention.

Be careful! Jung used to say something called the infraction of the ego. Have you ever heard of it?

What is the infraction of the ego? You are on the second step and think you are in the twentieth. Nothing goes up because your leg does not reach the twenty-first step.

And you still take the risk of falling from the one you conquered. So when a person, and today it is not uncommon, unfortunately, because we have a slightly phantastic fever in this field. When a person says, I am the disciple of Hermes Trismegistus.

There is a small infraction of the ego there. We are inspired by the step of the step of the step of the step of the teachings of Hermes Trismegistus. Aligned with him.

But not at the level of having such a close relationship with someone of this size. For your works. I will know you.

See the size of the things we deal with. The size of the things that knock us down. None of us has a level for a direct disciple of Hermes Trismegistus.

I guarantee you that if one day Hermes Trismegistus hit the door of our house, offering himself to teach us, it would be two joys. The time he arrived and the second much greater the time he left. Because no one would stand the company of a man with such a high standard of human demand.

What we have is a decodification. This teaching at the level of what we can live. We are philosophers.

Seekers of wisdom. And one of the things that characterizes philosophy is lucidity. Plato said that the characteristic of materialistic periods is the loss of common sense.

And we lose a lot of common sense. Because if you ask, look for, take any great master of humanity, you will find direct disciples to humanity now. It's a bit of a lack of criteria of where we are.

And if you don't know where you are and where you want to go, you won't move. Remember that I always make this joke, right? You get lost.

Call here. How do I get there? The first thing I would ask on the phone is where you are.

I don't know. Look, you can't give you any indication if you don't know where you are. So, they are two fundamental elements.

Where I am and where I want to go. Otherwise you don't move. And in that sense, all the fantasy, which is what I usually joke about, is called esquisoterism, is very harmful.

Because it doesn't let you know where you are going. So we are understanding, as Hermes Trismegistus, what corresponds to us, what gives, what reaches our level. We are philosophers.

And lucidity is a starting point. Well, continuing. Remember that I always tell you that what is inside quotes is part of the original traditional text.

And the out of quotes are comments, from the author of the book and sometimes even mine, the modern comments. So the text of the principle of gender, which is already the seventh principle, the mental gender, which is the next chapter, is a commentary on the principle of gender. It's a unfold.

The text of the principle of gender says the following. The gender is in everything. Everything has its masculine and feminine principles.

Gender manifests itself in all planes. It's something we would have to try to imagine the universe, from the point of view of the Hermetic, the Hermeticists. The universe for them is all life.

We have a mentality that life is organic life. Although the discoveries of science themselves have recently been messing with us, because there are forms of organic life so unusual, that sometimes we say, well, I never thought that life could present itself like this. In microorganisms, in really exotic structures.

But anyway, we still think that life is organic life, whose unit is the cell. Forget about this when we are dealing with Hermeticism. For them, everything is life.

Everything, all the planes, a stone has life, a planet has life, a galaxy has life. Everything is in evolution. Everything has a certain degree of consciousness that corresponds to it, on the stairs of the ladder where it is, and everything is in evolution.

And they put an element that we talked a lot about when we saw the principle of polarity, back there. Chapter 10, if I'm not mistaken. The principle of polarity said the following.

The universe, up there, in the origins, it is one, it is the whole, it is one. Only when the universe will manifest and generate creation, it has to become dual. Because in the manifested world there is nothing one, everything is dual.

But it says one thing that has no opposite. The soft, the resistant, the light, the dark, the cold, the hot, the high, the low. Everything is it and its opposite.

One day they will harmonize the two and return to unity. This is evolution. But entered the manifested world, you have to enter a filter.

You must have heard that the story is told of all the stories that talk about couples of animals, who were saved in an ark in the past, that have a trace of this mythology. The couples of animals are the couples of dual principles. The soft, the resistant, the hot, the cold.

The ark comes from archaic, from arcane, archetypes, ancient types. That is, the models of everything that is manifested. One day everything was one.

All of us are cells of the whole body. But when we fall into manifestation, we become dual. And we, he's talking about everything.

And not just organic beings and much less humanity. So he will make a point of clarifying this in a way that was one of the mistakes that was practiced too much in the accident. Which is to interpret gender as sex.

It has nothing to do. One of the examples that he repeats the most, reiterates the most in this chapter, is gender within an atom. The male as the nucleus and the female as the electrosphere.

So it is something much broader than sexual acceptance. I told you a little while ago, and he has this concern all the time in the book. It is difficult to bring certain ancient languages, both from the West, as Egypt, as from the East, to our current language.

Because the tendency to take things literally is problematic. It is capricious. Because it can lead people to mistakes.

I never forget something that seems like a joke, but it really happened. Many years ago, many years ago, a person who is getting old, can't give a date anymore. He starts saying, it was once.

I was talking to a student of mine about an Indian epic, which is Bhagavad Gita. Bhagavad Gita talks about the inner war of man to conquer his virtues and overcome his defects. And he puts these defects symbolically.

The ones against which he is fighting, as relatives. Arjuna, who represents the human being, is fighting against his uncles, against his cousins. But it is a very clear symbolism, that the war is all internal.

I gave this class, and then a student of mine finished the class and he told me, I liked this book. I always knew that I had to fight with my relatives. I don't like any of them.

I said, well, let's go back to the tape. You see how old the story is. I still had the tape.

Let's go back to the tape, because it's not that good. But of everything, of everything you can imagine, it's been many years in the classroom, of all the infamous and superficial interpretations. You see, you think it's a joke.

It's not. People take the letters, they take the letter that is there. And then, even fighting with relatives for my cause, it can happen.

So, gender has nothing to do with sex, which is what he's going to talk about here. Gender is in all planes. But it is much more extensive and broad than the concept of sex.

Sex is only gender in organic life. I put here an example of a plant to be able to expand a little. You know that within the plant kingdom we have sexed and asexual plants.

I don't understand much of the area, but as far as I know, the people who work in this area, find it much more resistant, much more recommendable, sexed plants. Because the genetic mutation is much greater. Therefore, it has more response capacity to circumstantial changes.

The changes in the environment are stronger, more resistant. An asexual plant is identical to the one that generated it. Therefore, they are all twins.

If an aggressor comes, he de-zimes them all. So there is this distinction within the plant plan, which we know, we work with it in botany. But science has not yet dared to put this differentiation, for example, within the mineral realm.

And the Kybalion speaks of this all the time. It starts there, in the mineral realm. Then it goes up, but it is in all the plans.

One of the clearest symbols of this is the yin and yang, the Tao. Which shows how the universe works with harmony and opposition. Dualities harmonize and the world spins.

In all plans. Anyway, sex is a very limited and poorly interpreted application. I'm going to tell you this story.

I don't even know if the story is very accurate. Because this mistake probably didn't come from one source. But I know that one of the sources of this was a misunderstanding of the Indian tradition.

The Indian tradition, at a certain moment, says that any activity you do seeking to perfect yourself as a human being, can lead you to grow. A beautiful, very beautiful, very interesting phrase. It says that in several ways.

But in short, the summary of the opera is this. After you do it, you can sweep the floor with the spirit of self-improvement and grow as a human being sweeping this floor. At a certain moment, there was a smart guy, because in all traditions there are smart people, it is not our privilege, who thought, if any activity can make me evolve, why don't I just take those I like the most?

It can be any one! And they started to focus on sexual activities as a form of consciousness evolution. It is clear that they are not excluded.

But from the moment they become exclusive, they become a vice. You put too much weight on them. And we, in our historical moment, the way we walk without subject, it's impressive.

You've seen, for example, humor. Humor necessarily has to go through sexual subjects. But why boredom?

It's always the same thing. This is a banality. This is a normal thing in life.

Why explore this topic so much? Lack of subject. And a certain instinctive fixation.

A congelation of consciousness that we live in materialistic eras. So, sexual activity, among many others, it is sad, normal. Now, when it becomes a unique goal, it starts to become pathological.

And an excessive focus on the instinct. I say this to you, you can think, why is she saying this? Some should know, there are N chains that have already defended this idea of sexual practice for consciousness elevation.

And they still exist today. And it's one of the things he clearly criticizes in the book. He says, this is madness.

If there is a path you should not enter, it is for this. Someone says you will raise consciousness through sex, then the rabbits would all be enlightened. Isn't that right?

Illuminated masters, the rabbit kingdom. There is no logic. But very, very explored.

More common than we can imagine. And he talks about this in 1908. So I imagine that things were already going down at that time.

And in 100 years he doesn't know what happened. It got a lot worse. Anyway, continuing.

He will say, gender. This is a Proto-Indo-European root. This story is beautiful, I love the language tree.

I live studying it, I like it a lot. I even got a Proto-Indo-European dictionary. I'm having a party.

I'm a child who won a Barbie. I got a dictionary. Because these languages of ours, in general, come from the Proto-Indo-European.

Then you get the root, you get the intention that generated the word, and it's a very beautiful thing. Then you see it passing through Greek, passing through Latin. The Proto-Indo-European root of the word gender comes from this gene there.

There is an asterisk that I took out because I didn't see the case. Gene, which basically meant to generate, to engender, to make it born. Where?

Do you know that an idea is sexed? It has a father and a mother. An emotion is sexed, it has a father and a mother.

And technology exploded. That is, we produce things and stop building men. This is a curiosity.

I remember that once a student forgot a cell phone connected inside the classroom. Suddenly the phone rang. This doesn't take long.

It was Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. On the phone. I said, my God!

I remember that the first phone I had, the cell phone, was like this. Today plays the Ninth Symphony. Did you imagine if men had also evolved in what they say, in what they express?

At this speed? If everyone was playing the Ninth Symphony, then when they talk, they would say, oh, my God! Really, the phones left humanity behind.

So, this is interesting. Because the things he says, humanly, have not changed anything. And the world, technologically, is different.

Continuing. Science does not recognize gender in all plans. Then he will start talking about this issue of the electron and the nucleus.

The nucleus, he puts as positive. We know that there is positive and neutral. But as a positive energy center.

And a peripheral, positive energy center. And a negative electrosphere energy center. He says he does not like to use this name, positive and negative.

For a very simple reason. Inside our head, negative is bad. It is inferior.

It is weak. It is useless. He says, do not use this nomenclature.

But he says, the electrosphere is female. And the nucleus is male. And when you join the nucleus with the electrosphere, you will have the birth of a new being, which is the atom.

The atom is not equal to your electrons, nor is it equal to your nucleus. It is a new being. It has the characteristics of the father and mother.

And what happens inside the atom, is what happens in all creation. The center, the nucleus, is like it fertilizes itself, attracts the electrons to itself. But the characteristic of generating, really developing life, is all of the feminine polarity.

The male fertilizes, throws the germ, and the female develops all life. Therefore, it is the most polarity, let's say, working of the universe. The sources of energy we have, and in general the electron is in the middle.

Isn't that so? The electron generates energy, the electron moves, and the nucleus fertilizes. This duality, generating a new being, projecting new forms of life, is common everywhere.

He will say, one day we will study this in the cosmos, and we will see this happening in solar systems, in galaxies, and everywhere. Always this idea. And always the feminine, as the one characterized by the male.

And the female, characterized as the one that procreates, develops, organizes, generates life. The masculine as the one that fertilizes. So he says, the electron plus the nucleus gives birth to a new being.

It is the son, the atom. The father, the mother and the son. He insists on what I told you.

The negative is not inferior. The negative is the maternal principle. It is the feminine.

And everything in nature has a maternal principle and the paternal principle. If we take the two, the oldest traditions, religious, for example, at the Holy Mass, take and drink, because this is my blood. Take and eat, because this is my body.

You will see that the symbolism of bread and wine has to do with matter and spirit. The masculine and the feminine. Theologies speak of this.

That is, there is also the principle of gender in this sentence. The union of the two elements. Wine is very associated with fire because of alcohol.

And matter or the aspect of water. The two together generate a child. Which is the sacralization, the sacred environment of the Mass.

In several traditions you will have the presence of this polarity. So he will say that the maternal principle is that it will create the greatest sources of energy, if not all known sources of energy. Because it is the feminine principle that moves when you see, for example, the cable of the woman's body.

The woman's body is the most powerful and the most powerful when you see, for example, the electric cable. It is the electrons that are moving in there. It is a battery, the cathodic pole, the feminine that emanates the electrons.

If you have to have life in a system, it will be where? On the planets. Would anyone live without this initial impulse of light and heat from the sun?

From a gem inside an egg, to a heart inside a body, to a sun inside a solar system, it is always the same idea. The nucleus and the periphery where life is processed. Well, he will say that the electron is the most active worker in the energy field.

He quotes all types of energy known in his time. Light, heat, electricity, magnetism, etc. All of them were children of the feminine polarity.

Of the maternal principle. That is, the same law working the material plane. I'm talking about the essences, the entrails of what is known to this day of matter, which are the substructures of the atom.

Who generates the atom is the principle of gender. Imagine when you put these atoms together and generate a molecule, the same thing. When it generates a cell, remember?

The nucleus and the periphery too. The same thing. And around a body, around a heart, the same thing.

On all levels. The masculine puts in activity the creative process and the feminine creates alone. From there, on all levels, one does not act without the other.

The big problem, and we will see this soon, a delicate and difficult subject, is when you have a society very materialistic, identity has a role that we temporarily perform in the world at this moment. And not in what we are, in essence. The tip of the triangle up there.

Because otherwise we would not have this mania of thinking that a pole is superior or inferior to the other. A pole is a temporary role. And if you are on the stage playing a character, perform in the best way possible and consider that all the characters are important for this piece, for this staging of life.

But in essence, what we are is one. There is no polarity. So it's absurd, we were fighting because my mask is more beautiful than yours on the stage of life.

This is a childish posture. So he says, one would not exist without the other. The universe is harmony by opposition.

And only when you compose these two elements is that you will have the movement of life, the displacement, the evolution of beings. It is produced by harmony by opposition. Of dualities within you and outside you.

You will not extinguish dualities, you will understand them, respect them and harmonize them. While one duality is lowered in relation to the other, it will turn. You will have only one pole that will have that movement of advancing and retreating.

When both are considered as equally divine, but as characters, what you are in essence is not polar, then you start to consider that perhaps the great merit at this moment can fight for humanity and not for the temporary roles that each one performs. Realize, only to reflect, which do you think is the source of all the prejudices of the universe? What is the prejudice?

That one? That generates all the others? Ignorance.

Ignorance is a factor that accelerates a lot, it is an enzyme. It propels the process a lot. But the prejudice, by excellence, is the personalistic prejudice.

You close your eyes and say, what says about me is better. Then you open your eyes and see what says about you. To say that it is better.

Then you will see your religion, your nationality, your color, your sex, your life option, and you will put it on a level of superiority in relation to the rest. But before, you have already started from the beginning, that what says about you is superior to what says about others. So what can we realize?

That prejudice has the same common root of all evils in the world. Egoism. To value only yourself.

Not to think as humanity. And there is no way to solve a problem by fighting the consequences. You have to go to the causes.

When a man is selfish, you extinguish these prejudices, he invents others. And he invents with ease, which I find amazing. I remember that many years ago we did a promotion of folklore in the North, we invited a group of capoeira.

And suddenly, something tense, you know why? Because the capoeira of the North was not understood with the capoeira group of Guará, who had gone there. Guará and North are two different things from the fight.

I had never imagined something like that. Soon, because you wear black, I wear blue. The more we dive into our material identity, the more ingenious our ability to create prejudice.

The more we reach the apex of the triangle, an unitary identity, above the polarities of the world, the more we integrate. When you climb the pyramid, you separate. So if you are separating yourself from the beings around you, distrust.

This is characteristic of those who are descending. Do you realize? Geometric.

Who does not like it, fight with geometry. There is one thing that is interesting, that he will talk about soon, that you notice in this one, is that there is a little point of black inside the white. There is a little point of white inside the black.

There are no absolutes in the universe. This is very important for us to understand. We have inside us a seed of everything that exists in the world.

And when we realize this, we learn to see outside, respect and know how to deal with outside. There is a tradition that is medieval alchemy. You must have heard of it.

She says something very beautiful. About the stages of growth of the human being. First there is the black work, that you go down to hell and see everything that resides inside you, unknown.

Then there is the white work, which is the purification of these contents that you were not aware of. It is not to eliminate them, it is to domesticate them. Take everything that was uncontrolled in you and take control.

And then there is the red work, which is the ascension, wisdom. But in the middle of the path there is what they call maturity, which is the work in yellow, citrinitas. They say that in a mature person, the pavone's syrup, there is a lot of oils in the pavone's syrup.

Do you know what that means? The mature person will one day see inside himself a seed of everything that he sees outside. So the person who committed the most idiotic thing in the world, looks inside you and sees that there is a seed of that.

And if you have not been careful, if you have been exposed to certain circumstances, you never know. Remember the biblical phrase? Never say of this water, I will not drink.

And as I know what this is about, I have a greater capacity to help the one who became a victim of this outside. I see inside me. Therefore I find the universe inside me.

It is that black dot there. Everything I thought was outside is inside. And on the other side, the white dot.

Everything I thought was outside has a representation inside. He will talk about it in a very curious way, when it comes to the human being. He speaks of the organic world.

This is very clear. Because you don't take a couple in any vegetable kingdom, animal, human, you don't take a being that has no characteristics of the opposite sex inside him. Those organs that are there, that are like residuals, inside the male sex, of the female sex, and vice versa.

That is, there is the white dot inside the black, there is the black dot inside the white. Do you think this happens only on a physical level? It also happens on a psychological level, on a spiritual level.

Inside us there is a representation, of everything that exists outside. Then comes Jung and says that all rejection is representation. That is, I don't know how to deal with laziness.

Laziness is always my victim, because whoever doesn't have it, shoots the first stone. It is a very democratic defect. So I don't know how to deal with laziness, I didn't even notice that I was lazy, I don't realize it.

Then a lazy person appears in my life. How am I going to face this? I'm going to hate it, because it forces me to look at something that I was sweeping under the carpet.

It projects out something that I didn't want to see. I'm going to tell you something. If you are working with this element, if it is blocking your life, the possibility of attracting all the lazy people in the universe is very high.

It is a white dot. Lazy people, come! You need the experience.

And you will reject them violently, because they force you to look at something you don't want to see. And it exists inside. Now, you saw the laziness, you fought against it, you dominated it, you integrated it, you look lazy, you have compassion.

Poor thing, you're going to get beaten up a lot. I know what it is. You can even pass some instructions if possible.

Because you know how to deal with it. You have it under control. Jung used to say that there are two possibilities with your shadow.
