[Applause] by American the president just opened up a new path for immigrants seeking US citizenship that comes at a cost this is a gold card we're going to be putting a price on that card of about $5 million it's going to be a route to citizenship is this an open border for the Mega Rich to jump to the front of the line would a Russian oligarch be eligible for a gold card yeah possibly hey I know some Russian oligarchs that are very nice people it's possible or is buying citizenship a common practice in other countries then Chelsea Handler shares her 50-year Saga to become the woman she always wanted to be WNBA Superstar Diana terasi talks about rocking the Sports World with her historic decision to retire after changing the game for women's basketball and feast your eyes on a viewy your DEC special edition with exclusive deals on kitchen finds from the Superstar foodie influencer behind the bestselling Half Baked Harvest cookbooks tan Gerard here come Hot Topics with Whoopi Sarah [Applause] Haynes Joy bear Anna novaro sunny Austin and Alysa Farah Griffin now let's get things start [Music] [Applause] started I have the vi I see this of me [Applause] hello hello hello and welcome to the new yeah y'all just feel so familiar I don't know why but any who one of the biggest issues of the last presidential campaign was reforming our immigration system and yesterday the White House announced a brand new path to us to to us residency with an expensive toll take a look we're going to be uh selling a gold card you have a green card this is a gold card we're going to be putting a price on that card of about $5 million and that's going to give you Green Card privileges plus it's going to be a route to citizenship and wealthy people will be coming into our country by buying this C they'll be wealthy and they'll be successful and they'll be spending a lot of money and paying a lot of taxes and employing a lot of people and we think it's going to be extremely successful would a Russian oligarch be eligible for a gold card yeah possibly hey I know some Russian oligarchs that are very nice people you know remember when Elon bought America yeah yeah he could have saved money with this CA this is only five million but he only would have gotten a well you're right you're right timing is everything there you are listen my grap with Trump a lot of times is the way what is happening making P it's listen the way that he talks about it it makes it sound like America's for sale to the highest bidder I don't like that but what I will say this is actually basically an expansion on the existing ev5 Visa program um I have some questions because those are basically meant to incentivize the best and brightest to come to America to create jobs here to hire people cont contribute tax revenue but I want to know is there National Security vetting so yes is could a terrorist organization or a Russian olar come in and then just again don't make it sound like we're for sale make it sound like you want to come here because you want to be in America but I'll say this on immigration Donald Trump ran on two things the economy is still looking really dicey my eggs were like $14 the other day but on the board cooking eggs yes cooking eggs yeah those eggs are even more expensive by the way um but the Border crisis he's effectively solved in one month this blew my mind the Washington Post there's been a 98% drop in Daily border crossings in the lowest single day total in 15 years this past week from an all-time high of 11,000 in uh December of 20123 under Biden to only 200 a week ago under Trump so he's doing that that is what people voted for now please get to the economy because everything's too damn expensive well one thing though that a lot of the people that I correct me if I'm wrong that voted for Trump a lot of the people most critical of immigration are immigrants themselves who came here and went through the processes and are now like I did my part you should do yours to to speak like this about the fact that he ran on anti-immigration and I'm going to fix that like you said numbers are down but if you have enough money you can come so I don't think that's going to bode well for the people that voted for him that you can just skip the line if you're wealthy um that is a problem I also think that to um he talks so much about criminals coming across the borders and all the problems they bring with them people with money can be criminals too in fact they have more resources to be criminals and so I I what comes to mind right away is you mentioned terrorists um I think it was 11 or 12 15 of the 91 911 hijackers were Saudi Arabians uh not that that is necessarily linked to the government but there's a lot of money there and right now you have Trump talking Loosely about taking over Gaza that puts a terrorist Target on our back and extremists groups jihadists will not stop until they're not just done with land grabs they're done with Western Civilization so they will definitely come here if this kind of thing is can be bought and it's way easier than the way that they're planning in the past that's way you know all I can say is thank God someone's looking out for millionaires because this guy has now cut two trillion doll cuts from from the social net in this country let's talk about that for a second forget this gold C it's a stupid idea in my opinion but two ,2 trillion in Cuts will include Medicaid snap which means food stamps and 9 million people will be affected by the snap food St it's a blueprint though this hasn't gone into effect yet no but they want it and they'll get it if they if they really push it you know they will $4. 5 trillion in tax cuts for people who are in the 0. 1% yeah of uh people who earn money in this country and corporations so these millionaires who were coming with their 5 million are going to get a nice tax cut when they come here also and more cuts are coming probably to Social Security and Medicare which has not happened yet but it will if they continue on this streak it will happen so people have to know that you know fine you want to come in here and bring your $5 million with you and create jobs maybe but all these people what happens to them that's what I want to know well you're I think you're absolutely right Joy because if you read 202 uh project 2025 everything that is in Project 2025 is what is happening and those things that you just listed are there and so that is the goal that is the ultimate blueprint that is the ultimate plan and it's been pretty effective so far with all these executive orders but I in terms of the immigration thing I think what's you know this is not that different from what happens in Europe you know you can have this sort of golden Visa uh through real estate and places like Portugal and and and Spain and GRE the Caribbean so there you know this would be the most expensive uh golden Visa but I think what's fascinating to me is that he ran on immigration and he ran really on the southern border because we know we also border Canadian uh Canada and that that's actually the largest border but they're not really going into Canada and looking for those Canadian people that are kind of jumping back and forth It's not Canadians that come across the northern border the northern border crisis no it's people coming from other parts of the world India Mexico there's not a bunch of Canadians fling there's probably more Americans to Canada right now that's not true cuz I spoke to Governor Whitmer about it but me was a misunderstanding can I can I can I just yeah can I just finish what I was saying so so I don't lose my thought um the point is you know he's he was all about immigration from the southern border and and those immigrants or those migrants look a certain way so it seems to me this was never really just about immigration certain type of and so now we have this this million these you know can I finish talking thank you so it's okay for Russian oligarchs to come over it's okay for people with money to come over but it's not okay to provide a path to citizenship for people that have been here like the docka recipients for other people that look a different way so just to clarify because there is a border crisis on the northern border and it doesn't get nearly as much attention as the southern the numbers aren't as high it is not Canadians Crossing from Canada into the United States it is Mexico and India are the two largest places that people are coming because they're seeing that it's actually easier than going through the cartels and going through a more secure Southern border so if they have the resources that's what the northern immigrants I want somebody to make a decision about immigration I want somebody to make a decision about immigration because if you're saying if you got enough money you can come but if you don't have the money we don't want to take care of it one of the joys of this gig is that there's never enough time to get anything said because we only have what is it in all 37 minutes to really get everything out and try to get all and guests and all kinds of stuff so from time to time you'll see us going like just now and it's because people are feeling passionate and want to talk and because we are not just a political show we talk about lots of different stuff we're always trying to jockey about what we're talking about so we're going to finish up what we were doing before we left if folks have more to say I don't okay the point and I I I know it gets heated and I don't mean to step on people when I do I'm working on interrupting um but something that I think we all at this table agree on and I hope is something that this White House is considering is incentivizing people who want to be here who want to work hard who want to become citizens make it so that they can come here and I I'm a strong proponent in these H1B visas if you're somebody who's High skilled you want to start a company here I want the next Google start here I want the next apples to be started here so we need to do that but there also always needs to be a path for people who are refugees people who are sty Seekers to get here that is what America's always stood for and I don't like the Optics of making it sound like it's going to the highest B and if you can afford it or if you can create the next Google you can be here that's what's missing it seems to me that the history of the country is more about getting workers here rather than refugees if you know your history during World War II there were Jews who were escaping the Holocaust and they were sent back they were not allowed to come here so refugees is not the number one number one is to get people to pick your vegetables and things like that that's what Italian Americans came here to work Chinese Americans came here to fix the rail to build the railroads the slaves were B here to work and to build and slaves were mention black Americans who came here in the first place were slaves so let's not be so uh sanguin about these refugees because mostly we want workers well can I also I do have something else to say we're talking about these you know we we need to bring other people into this country because Americans don't know enough and because Americans apparently can't get the job done why don't not what I said no I'm not talking about you there are other people that say that that we need the these h& you know we we vag said that we need people to come um why don't we then work on our education here as opposed to blowing up the Department of Education and not educating our children look over there look I want you to look over at your over all right no no look at Paul Paul's got the face okay we'll be right back [Music] it is important in times like these to have a distraction and that's why I want to personally extend my gratitude to Justin baldon and Blake Lively I think everybody in this room no matter whose side you're on we can all agree to accept that there's probably not going to be a sequel it ends with us guys welcome back comedian Chelsea Handler doesn't pull any punches whether she's hosting award shows performing standup or writing six New York Times bestsellers she's giving you her personal guide to finding that same confidence in yourself with her latest book I'll have what she's having please welcome back the fabulous Chelsea Handler hi hi I have to touch everyone Hi everyone I'm at The View I'm so happy so yesterday was your um half century mark I heard your birthday Happ birthday that's right thank you I turned um I turned 50 yesterday I'm experiencing makes a girl think ites a girl think a lot a lot of I'm experiencing a lot of midcentury Joy that's how I'm going to Define it I'm joyful I'm happy I'm vibrant this is the new 50 so I want to like you know really claim it and have lots and lots of sex you know what I mean I feel free I feel really free yeah absolutely right whoopy well yeah you know I know Chelsea one big way to welcome that is you love to ski and you've made it your annual tradition to wear a bikini on the slopes to celebrate your birthday so amazing you look amazing by the way is it C aren't you afraid of frostbite yeah um no I'm not afraid of frostbite there is like an adrenaline that kicks in when you're naked on the slopes or in a bikini wow and this year I did it with a bunch of women I had like 20 women and I'm gonna actually outdo myself because gold Bon and I are doing like a ski we're going to break the Guinness World Record skiing in bikinis with snowboarders and years on March 14th in Tahoe palate so I get to keep the tradition going professionally now wow wow I love it anyone can come and join too oh wow yeah I don't know if I'll be joining you but it looks great why not like a polar plunge it is like a polar plunge but I honestly you're really not cold when you're doing it really your and hands are warm right you wear gloves what about when you fall I don't fall oh no I don't disting exactly right I would think you'd get frostbite on your nipples I yes well my nipples have been through a lot so that would be the least of their worries well let's talk about your book because I'll have what she's having is your seventh book written after you spent years in therapy and you say working on yourself and um I I think it's probably the most vulnerable book you've written yet why did you want to write it and and what is the overall message for what did you learn in therapy well I learned about self-awareness so that was a big gift but um I like I think that this book is a is kind of like for women you know it's for women to re to not to reclaim to actually find out exactly what you want to do in life and Follow That Dram without having you know and live a non-traditional life without having people tell you what makes you valuable you decide what you want to do and bring to the table and the the book is filled with stories of people who've impacted my life in huge ways like Jane Fonda like you ladies are in the book too um for that was a different story um and and and the way that I've been able to impact other people's lives by simply not having children and having the time and the bandwidth to be able to open myself up to impact other young people and other women and it's a lot about Sisterhood and a reminder right now we're living in a time where it's so important for us to stand together and be sisters and look out for each other and so that's the overarching message of the book is a reminder to be a good sister to the world AB love that I love that well Chelsea I also love that you you were an entrepreneur as a kid and you write in the book about your very first business can you tell us about that I opened up a lemonade stand and when I saw the profit margin I decided I needed to step it up and so then I opened up a Hard Lemonade Stand where I served Jin whiskey and Tequila to any of the parents that were cycling by with their children and obviously kids were who were over 10 years old and um and I made a lot of money I made $359 in the first week I had hired another 10-year-old to be my barback his name was Nelson so smart I was like Nelson do you know how to mix a drink like can you make a whiskey soda he's like not really I'm like this is how you do it and we made $359 we were 10 years old it was incredible I gave Nelson his commission which was $359 and I was off and running I'm like I'm a businesswoman I'm a businesswoman that's hilarious yeah I wanted to from the time I was born and I met my family I had I wanted to split ties I wanted to I was like these people are so disorganized you know I mean I wanted to like I I had a different idea of what my life was going to be like so I knew I had to make my own money early on well you told that they were not going to do it I know I'm like there's no dowy here for me you know I'm going to have to make my own fortune things you could get away with in the 80s A Hard Lemonade Stand yes exactly anymore guys okay so Chelsea you mentioned the view before that you were on The View uh tell us about you tell it well a long time ago when we were experiencing Co you all remember everyone was in love with Andrew Cuomo um myself included I was had a big crush on Andrew Cuomo and then I came on The View I was on Zoom because Co right and I was talking to Whoopi and joy and I announced my attraction to Andrew CUO because I wanted it to get out there yeah and I knew he would hear about it so I sat on on the show I shot my shot and and and declared my desire to be penetrated by the governor of New York and guess what guess who called me three days later yeah the governor of newor yes yes the penetrator penetrator the potential penetrator but there was never penetration I got ghosted by him he ghosted you I did yes I got ghosted by him which was actually you know a lucky call CU he ended up getting canceled shortly thereafter so I got out of there by the skin of my teeth that's funny yeah the skin of your teeth you can say that so you know what the thing about you is that you you talk about your behavior all over the world your lovers that you have everywhere but this part of your thing that I I totally agree with you it's a turnoff if they have bad grammar and spelling oh yes it's the opposite of a turn on explain to these people why that annoys you I love grammar and I didn't go to college so I overcompensate that by being really educated and I I can't handle when people use words like when I hear anyways why is that a word it's not anyways it does like I don't like that I don't like when people say uh or all these irregardless irregardless is really stupid one one of the worst ones for me is that I feel badly oh really do you feel sadly feel we heard that one a gazillion times wrongly wrong and also between you and I is get correct between you and me exactly those two bother me I work so hard at knowing like I read so many books so that I can write quality books that I'm so tied to words and I love looking up words that I don't know you know but even if they bad grammarians they're if they couldn't bed I forgive it joy we won't get that far with you but we don't want you to leave without something cuz although we will not be joining you on the slopes as Sunny communicated to you we want to give you something uh to where next year where we can be with you in spirit so it bring out your new VI bikini check out thank you I love it that's awesome you're wear that you're at least one those are some big Underpants them are too big for you let's make it a Chelsea Handler Let's Fold it over exactly this too we need more of this to make it a I just want to say our thank toy Handler her book I'll have what she's having is out right now and you can buy it by scanning the QR code on your screen and but I'm just also here to tell you that everyone in this audience is going home with a copy ofel yes we'll be right back welcome back to NBA was just rocked by an epic postseason loss after nearly two decades breaking records and delighting fans of the Phoenix Mercury Diana tarishi is announced trasi trasi terasi thanks terasi why don't you do it no I don't want to do it will she announce yesterday yeah do you want to make it a so go ahead that she is retiring or hanging up her Jersey and retiring and we get to see her now so please give a warm welcome to Diana Jass [Applause] oh my she's in neopolitan oh yes good to see you good to see you whippy I mean whoopy that's the say that's all right no it's all good it is all good listen what made did you decide that now was the time oh God that's such a hard question um it didn't just happen overnight I think it was something that as you know the seasons started piling on 20 Seasons you know yeah 12 Seasons overseas I think just being 42 and really doing everything that I could have ever dreamt of doing on a basketball court I felt full I was happy I was ready to to move on I don't know what that that looks like but I was ready yeah yeah well many people and I think I think we all agree here I've called you the best female basketball player in the world wow one of the best female athletes of all time of all time yes but you played in college for Yukon and guided that team to three consecutive national uh championships in 2004 first round draft pick for the Phoenix Mercury where you won three WNBA championships you also became an 11 time allar and a six-time Olympic gold medalist playing with the US national team and this show is not long enough to keep going so we're going to say uh what do you want your legacy to be with all of that yeah what El was there to do really like I mean um I think the one thing that I always prided myself on was the work I loved showing up to work every single day like I got that from my parents you know they came to this country in 78 and they always went to work every single morning like my dad would get in that car at 4:00 a.
m. drive an hour and a half um and that's just what you did you know you got up and you went to work and you Tred to make the best of it for you and your family um and that's what I try to do for my teammates show up for them every single day and that loyalty to me was was always huge playing on one WNBA team playing at Yukon for four years putting on that USA Jersey for 20 years in six Olympics God but you know dreams are made of like you can't write that that's a fairy tale dreams are made of just but that's what you're doing that's what you're doing for all these Youngs coming up who now know it is possible and particularly for female athletes they know now you are the okay it's just such a great time right now it female sports for female sports and female basketball in particular you know um well let me talk to you about about basketball because the average salary of an NBA player is around $12 million and I think what most people don't know is the average salary of a WNBA player is about 130,000 I know that I know you know that right now that is why players like Britney Griner and you play in Russia so that they can make a living for their families what do you think it's going to take pay better that's the freak yeah it does they pay better in Russia so let me ask you this what do you think it will take for WNBA players to um start making higher salaries and being paid what you are worth and not having to go to Russia yeah I mean I spent 10 uh Long Cold years in Russia and I always said I had to be paid like a capitalist in a communist country which is isn't that funny huh yeah well not that funny um but you know what that that disparity in wage is something that we've always talked about and you know it's times like this where it's this beautiful movement but it has to translate into our lives being better as professional athletes yes and that comes with our income um obviously the off the court stuff is booming right now but you would like to get paid for what you are the best in the world at and that's what the WBA is I never understand this whole conversation because I Le in economics that it's supply and demand that you're pulling in the tickets and people are paying why don't they pay you well and let's let's get to that because last year the WNBA delivered the most swed regular season in 24 years and in the highest attendance in 22 years um setting records for digital consumption too for folks watching and merchandise sales how do we keep for those of us who love women in sports and love what the wnb is doing right now how do we keep that momentum going I think well it's a challenge for women for us to support each other as We Know you're going to a long LS to make sure all women sports are on TV which that's the thing that's always been the most important is visibility when you learn about these athletes at a early age like we are now with the Caitlyn Clarks and the angel Reese's and the pages like you get to follow their stories which they did you know in the '90s and 2000s but not at the length with social media and that light is is is really what's going to make this sport go forward the next generation of players and this next generation is bullish just shut up and dribble like we did drible they they they're loud well that's what America has to recognize one of the great things is that women have changed and the oky dooke doesn't work for them anymore so all those ways that people say well you know well we got you we got you no they're saying no no we see how you do it now we watch we watched it and there's no reason you can't do it with us and I'm telling you women's sports from around the world getting what used to be tops you know the bubblegum cards getting those for women that is that is what I want to see for all women in sports Because unless you have the visibility they're not going to talk about it you mean like all an all women's sports network like you're like You' created something like that would be good I would like that I mean I'm not I'm not a big Sports person oh this isn't a sport show but I'm I'm not that good at at sports but I'm interested in you cuz you are the goat and I like that I mean that's interest me and also these other young women uh angel angel Reese and Caitlyn Clark are coming up behind you so what would you say is that they should do to have a successful career like yours you know it's hard to give them advice cuz when I started playing was just a completely different landscape of you know what our generation kind of had a fight through and the things that we went through but at the same time you have to keep the main thing the main thing the main like we have to make sure this is the best product on the court and you know there's a lot of distractions now with sponsorship and endorsements and you know TV appearances which is amazing but you have to make sure the product is Elite listen our thanks to di listen we're going to be
