I'm sure you have a best version image of yourself and the kind of person you would be if you got your together and did something with your life odds are that you spend each day living the exact way you always have I don't want to scare you but if you don't do anything nothing is going to change or change a little or change something or don't change it's Choice time you can do whatever you want if you want to get ahead in life and achieve your goals you need to get your dopamine Baseline in order
you don't go back down to Baseline you go below Baseline as you know in today's World attention is the real currency and many big businesses are catering to it trust me I experienced this firsthand we all should guard our dopamine Peaks very carefully a little bit goes a long way a lot goes even further but it also takes you down deeper afterwards I used to constantly get distracted throughout my day I kept searching for that extra like on social media or found myself getting entertained on Tik Tok for hours but this was my old me
I have changed and I hope I can help you a little too this is why today I'm going to explain to you how you can beat one of the biggest threats to a fulfilling and productive life I also request that you dedicate some time to fully pay attention to this video and avoid playing it in the background after all what I'm about to say has the potential to change your world as you know it listen brother if you want to increase your chances of success you need to understand the key principle of dopamine detox you
see when I was a kid I really hated getting bored and it was the worst feeling ever and and I wish that there was something interesting to do well everything changed when I got my first smartphone and access to the internet it felt like a dream come true boredom became a thing of the past because there was this whole new world out there for me to explore um I'm sure you also remember the early internet forums MSN chat rooms the many interesting websites and in the rise of YouTube and Instagram they were all amazing for
me as they probably were for you but I didn't realize until too late that all this wasn't free it came at a price that only grew more more expensive the older I got yes I was able to find happiness in technology on the internet but it hijacked my pleasure Center that was the price few things outside the internet really stimulated me um like in some ways I had let my smartphone own me if this sounds like something you are going through then it's a good thing you are watching this because I found a way out
and I'll be showing you how very soon um you see whatever hopes and dreams I had for my future became secondary objectives in my life uh rather than making time to improve myself I would find myself spending that time on the internet um filling my brain up with sources of cheap dopamine for example Video Games Were My Kryptonite I would get into them so easily and it was like they opened up a box of dopamine in my brain it felt like so much fun so easily let me tell you I was hooked I know I'm
not the only one who's gone through this um thankfully people are waking up uh it's never been more clear that we live in an always on world so the the need to beat an addiction to the digital world is critical of course you can't do anything without a proper plan and I'm going to come to that but let me know first in the comments below what made you decide to get your life into place why is now the moment um that made you wake up and Chase a more productive route I'm curious to understand dopamine
is powerful believe me I've made the mistake of trusting in my own agency and free will but Noe it is so powerful that it influences our Behavior much more effectively than you might think now your brain develops priorities in large part based on how much dopamine it's going to get this is why you need a bulletproof plan of action no plan survives first contact with the Enemy and easy dopamine is Mike Tyson I ran across this book by Steven kovi Seven Habits of Highly Successful People where he mentioned to begin with the end in mind
such a powerful phrase in my opinion um this is one of my favorite steps from his book because it gets right to the part of why attempts to turn over a new Leaf often fail there were so many moments in my life where I would set a goal and then get too caught up with all the secondary objectives that I set it would often end up with me forgetting why I was even doing anything in the first place this is why if you want to be successful with a dopamine detox you absolutely need to keep
your motive constantly in mind so in my life instead of worrying about the details I worked on visualizing how the new me free from Easy dopamine would live this simp Act made things far easier and I'm sure it will for you as well but that's just the first step having a bulletproof plan for your dopamine reset will require more and a good example is self-monitoring it was easy for me to feel like I was sticking to my plan but it would have been more effective if I had started tracking what I did throughout the day
after a lot of experimenting I found three key areas that really needed to be watched one the number of easy dopamine sources I cut two the number of healthy alternatives I started and three the number of withdrawal symptoms I experienced You could argue that this takes away from keeping the end in mind um but you can certainly do both track the way you deal with your dopamine addiction and keep your eyes on the target of the three the third one was the most useful only when I tracked my withdrawal symptoms did I realize how deep
down the rabbit hole of dopamine addiction I was in honestly it was this growing awareness of how I would be if I didn't change anything that helped me the most I realized that I was in a fight for my own mind I was battling an enemy so strong that all my time energy and true potential were being sucked away without my knowledge it was clear that if I needed to be successful in fixing my life I needed to put on some heavy armor you see the more I researched the effect of unrestricted access to easy
dopamine the more I knew that the fight to reclaim my mind required me to be well equipped a dopamine detox isn't about challenge it's about change a digital detox my new Shield was the first piece of armor I wore but it wasn't enough I also had to wear the chain mail of self-discipline the helmet of healthy habits and a breastplate of human connection I had ignored and shunned these aspects throughout my life but if I wanted to live life like it was meant to be lived I needed to work on them what I'm trying to
say is that if you choose to start this journey don't be surprised when you find out that it's not as simple as using the internet less often learning to be self-sufficient after your brain has gotten used to easy dopamine for years is not a walk in the park at least with drugs there are detox procedures and medication you can take but with social media and Tech you are on your own scratch that the world is working against you it's trying to win you over to spend more time online you know it really frightens me when
I see kids as young as four or five with iPads in their hands um at least for those born in the '90s and earlier we knew what life was like before the internet changed everything but kids today man they're they're born into two worlds and the fact that they spend so much more time in the virtual one is so sad to see taking back control of your mind should be the number one priority for everyone today and I'm really glad that you are here with me um it's in this way one by one you and
me that we fight this deadly dopamine addiction for me the biggest defense I could develop was to condition my mind to be okay with boredom this was my biggest challenge and telling myself that it was okay to sit in boredom was crucial I found that the Need to Escape boredom my my old childhood weakness was a big reason why I couldn't stay disconnected for more than an hour or two it was hard very hard I would tell myself okay this is going to suck but that's fine let it suck I can do this but after
20 minutes of trying I was itching to pick up my phone and open Instagram I resisted I failed I tried again half an hour later um back to Doom scrolling I tried to uninstall apps but I would soon reinstall them um this is what it will look like if you have never tried to stay away um in like seeing how strong your depend actually is can be scary as um the good thing was that I didn't give up like each time I saw how easily I relapsed the more afraid of giving up I even thought
about booking a ticket to somewhere remote just to ensure I didn't relapse it was that bad something super interesting was also happening while I was struggling my behavior started to change I was getting irritable and frustrated at random things it was horrible not just for me but for everyone around me I thought of giving myself a small break but somehow resisted and I'm so glad I did um after a few weeks of this struggle uh something changed um I started noticing that getting stuff done at work felt smoother I didn't feel any of the um
usual lethargy and sluggishness that would come to me after a few hours of work normally when I got home it would be 7:00 p.m. and I'd want to crawl into bed and binge the rest of the night away on my phone but now I didn't want to I felt charged and Alive it felt like someone had popped a fresh set of batteries in me and I still had 70% left for the day at 7:00 p.m. do you realize how amazing this feeling is um I wanted to tell everyone my friends and family but it was
no use apparently I was telling them what they already knew it hit me then that so many people already understand that a dopamine detox leads to a better life but they still don't do it to be honest I think it's mainly a question of presentation instead of trying to focus on the topic of uh getting out of the digital world dopamine detox would be more popular if it was called dopamine substitution Dr Dr Cameron sepa the person who came up with the idea of a dopamine detox also tells us not to take the term literally
our brain gets dopamine from different activities um and it is produced even when you aren't being exposed to exciting stimuli this means that even when you go for a walk or read a good book you get a fix of dopamine so it's not that you are completely abandoning dopamine because that's biologically impossible it's more that you are changing where you get it from well the beauty of doing a detox though is that everyday life starts to feel more beautiful have you seen those memes that talk about how the world used to look Vivid and beautiful
in childhood it's probably because we were all high on natural sources of dopamine going on a dopamine detox was one of the best things I ever did it kind of made life feel like it was worth living again in a way saying that it changed my life feels like an understatement because the impact has been so big it's how I found the energy and motivation to start this Channel and make these videos videos if I never bothered to get rid of easy dopamine I would still be a consumer not a Creator there are so many
goals that I am working on now and you two will probably experience the same desire to improve a dopamine detox is the start of your new life it gives you the time and energy to work towards epicness if you need help with your goals I actually made a video exactly on that topic so check it out in the description down below let this be the moment that you decide to wake up and Seize the Day Let's Take Back Control of who we are together
