[Music] hi guys on this video we're going to teach you 10 useful phrases that will help you during your travels in Japan hello everybody so many of you guys asked us to do a video like this one so here it is we recently just got back from our European trip and we learned a lot before we went on this trip we learned some phrases to help us get through like daily situations but we've also run into situations where we thought we could have managed better if we knew certain phrases so without further Ado these are the 10 phrases that we think you should know before coming to Japan greetings hello right so simply means hello I'm sure many of you guys already know konnichiwa but we do want to point out that we would like it if you pronounce it correctly a lot of people say it this way like konnichiwa which is actually Four syllables and there is an emphasis on Need For some reason I think it's because English is a rhythmic language whereas Japan is not so we never have that konnichiwa we never have that you know this this rhythmic we have same things konnichiwa is actually five syllables this is the correct way to say it repeat after us perfect just like in other languages there are many ways to say hello for example a super casual way of saying hello is but I do want to point out that that is only for people who know each other well Genki you would never say Genki when you first go into a store you've never been into the store and you you meet someone you never say Genki even Japanese people we never say Genki to an unfamiliar person or like yeah which is like even more casual and that's just super weird if someone goes into a store and says yeah it's very strange so simply konnichiwa good morning Ohio gozaimasu and that means good morning and you would say this in the morning very very easy super casual way of saying Ohio gozaimasu is Ohio Ohio once again you would never say Ohio if you've never met the person uh you would usually say Ohio a pronunciation tip uh don't say it like the U. S state Ohio Ohio is three syllables and with the emphasis on hi you don't want to say it that way you want to say Ohio it's actually Four syllables together is Yo it just makes the yo longer so repeat after us oh perfect Ohio Ohio what does that mean I'm listening to you are you listening to them okay actually no we should teach them how to say the the proper the whole thing is very good good evening right simply means good evening when does Good Day become good evening around 6 00 p. m 6 p.
m okay for me I start saying around 5 30. 5 30. yeah like four o'clock is too early even five seems a bit too early for me once it passes 5 30 it's kombawa in the winter days 5 PM is becoming darker true so it's okay to say if it is bright I usually say konnichiwa konnichiwa I think you're correct because sometimes I'll say kombawa and it's still bright outside the person will say already let's say Konnichiwa I said no it's already 5 30 p.
